It's been ages since I've stopped at a Panera. Panera use to be a good alternative to fast food but the quality has diminished over the years. I initially order the Chicken BLT but returned it as the avocado was hard and the chicken taste was funny. It was like the was processed chicken. I then ordered an adult grill cheese and it was horrible too for over 8 dollars: the cheese used was American cheese. I know this place offers better cheese so why are they using American cheese. I couldn't eat this sandwich as well, so I just gave up. Plus I was informed that the men's bathrooms were super dirty. It smelled like pee plus toilet paper all over the floor. I arrived and prepared to order at the kiosk. Just as I was starting my order the cashier was finished with the guest ahead and volunteered to finish me up. DISAPPOINTED! MUST DO BETTER! During these hard times it is like a slap in the face to go spend your money somewhere that doesn't take pride or care in their service and food! The staff needs to greet customers better. The back area where the food is being prepared needs to be maintained properly bc it looks nasty which makes me not want to order from there anymore since it looks as if the staff is not cleaning properly. So that makes me wonder how my food was prepared. No clean gloves...Trash on the floor in areas that we can clearly see. Not bad. Not too expensive and a great cafe place to go if you're having a get together with friends. I like the rewards they offer. I placed a mobile order today. When I opened the chili to eat it there was a long hair in the chili. That is absolutely disgusting and I had to throw it away. This is a 3.5 star review. I mean it's Panera: free parking, free wifi, lots of options, back open with longer hours, relatively yummy and healthy fast food. However, I've noticed a decline at this location...not that clean, not that serious, always someone new at the register. A few other changes: no more light up pods for food so listen for your name to be yelled. They don't ask your choice of chips, apple or bread, so go back and get what you want. May mess up your soup order or not let you know the salads can have more than one kind of greens. There's no discount for taking chicken off salad and when did ALL of the salads get chicken anyway...idk maybe it was me but it was also a weird visit. I like patronizing local establishments but this was more of a gentle a reminder that I have most of these ingredients at home. read more

That means all of the bugs that were flying around the food and landed on the food were sewer bugs. I ordered a balsamic salad. It was absolutely gross with the bottom part of the lettuce in my salad and look like bugs initially and later to confirmed they were in my salad. After asking management, why were the bugs all over their uncovered food we were told that corporate disallowed coverings or plastic wrap over the food. When Panera Bread first started, a lot of people enjoyed it because of the pick two combos. Choosing a half of a various options was a great concept. Other cafes and restaurants now offer it as well and they generally have better selections and better flavored food; so for that reason it's been a while since i've been to Panera. I generally only return in the fall/winter because that's when they have the autumn butternut squash soup. This vegetarian soup is delicious with excellent flavors and pumpkin seeds added for extra flavor. Typical Panera food, in the dirtiest, poorest run Panera I've ever visited. When we walked up to the order counter, one staff member was there. She left after the person two ahead of us ordered. We waited, along with the party ahead, and a couple new arrivals behind us. Finally someone walked out from the back and asked if we'd been helped. Once we ordered, I inquired about the .99 bakery add-on. She said I could pick out anything from a nearly empty case. When I pointed that out to her she said that I could have a cookie... from the bagged cookie display that was sitting with the back of the bags facing the customer area. How difficult would it be to face the display towards the customer? Order finally in, we looked for a table. The one we wanted was recently vacated (I saw a party there when we walked in), so I inquired if it had been sanitized (Covid appears to be alive and well in 2021). A gentleman who appeared to be a manger assured me that they sanitize all tables between guests, then asked me if I'd like it cleaned again. Thankfully I let him do it because we didn't see a single table cleaned the whole time we were there! Oh, filthy restrooms, too. This Panera gets a little backed up at lunch time, but the staff handles it with grace and it works for me. The food is healthy, tasty and filling. I love how diverse the menu is, and it seems to cover all the bases when it comes to pleasing all. I'm a soup lover, and haven't found fault with any of theirs. And I can't think of a dish I've had there that I've turned my nose up at. And the bakery - I'm so hooked!!! The breads and muffins and cookies!!!! It would be dangerous to leave me alone in there. It's possible I could eat myself to death. My favorite non bakery items (haha) are the tomato basil soup, corn chowder, asiago steak sandwich, spicy Thai salad, soba noodle bowl with edamame, and last but not least, their very fresh unsweetened black iced tea. First i was given the wrong order and it was made to geaux even though I said it was for here. This was truly the worst place I've ever eaten the last decade. When you walked in, it smelled like cat piss. The chairs throughout the restaurant were so old that the surfaces were peeling up. It looks like someone had urinated on the chair and eroded the entire surface. And this is what they expected me to sit on to eat. I haven't been to this location for a few years- but thought I would streamline the process by using the handy app on my phone and order ahead so it'd be ready when I walked in (It wasn't and it wasn't correct either.) But the first thing I noticed upon walking in the door was the overpowering smell of urine and mustiness- it was REVOLTING. And almost every single chair cushion in the entire place was tore up and stained in a disgusting fashion and I seriously did not want to sit on any of the furniture. It was as if once the store was designed and built 20 years ago it has never been cleaned or had any updates since opening day. When I tried to point out to the server that my order was not correct (She was the same one who originally gave me my order 5 minutes before) she informed me she "had already clocked out and couldn't help me." I visited Panera Bread as a dine-in customer for lunch today. Unfortunately, I didn't see how dirty this place was until after I placed my order. This place needs a good scrubbing...ALL OVER. In my opinion, the bathroom was cleaner than the main dining area. The drink and condiment area was noticeably dirty and sticky looking. Also, gnats were hanging out at the fountain machine. It was very busy, so maybe the staff hadn't gotten a chance to wipe things down. Either way, it was unacceptable. I fell in love with Panera when I lived in Portland, OR, and was disappointed when I moved to New Orleans that there were none. This was the first location to open, and it happened to be between where I was working at that time and where I lived. When this location initially opened, traffic in the parking lot was miserable, the employees were uninformed and unpleasant to speak to, the service was shoddy, and even after you order at the counter, pay for your food and get seated, they might have lost your order. The wheels have been moving and things now seem to run smoothly, after several years. There is a parking lot in front, and one in the rear. The order counter is in the back, where you pick up your food is in the middle. This is wholesome fast food, not your typical for this area greasy food. The food is geared to be filling and kind of wholesome, while appealing to the masses. read more

Pleasantly surprised. So, I was out in Metairie shopping for a rug. I needed something small and quick to eat before heading back Uptown. It was late in the day and I had dinner plans already. The young lady who took my order was very pleasant. She was tolerant of the bazillion questions I asked her. I ordered the Spicy Thai Salad with chicken. I asked that she 86 the wonton noodles and add extra cilantro. When I got to my table, I found pesky little wonton noodles all throughout my salad. No problem. I was a big boy and picked them out myself. The salad was incredible. It was very tasty with a good spicy kick. Potty Patrol: I forgot to mention that I went to the restroom before I ate. Loved this place when I was in Columbus, Ohio and happy to see them here in the metro area. They offer some of the best salads and soups you can find and not even talking about all the great bread choices. I cannot wait till another location opens in New Orleans because the craze at the Metairie location is a little to much to handle right now. What makes this place great beyond just the food is that normally it has the Starbucks atmosphere where people come in order food and sit for hours on free wifi drinking all the free tea refills you can drink. Having a bit of an upset stomach wanted something fairly plane, so got the chicken and wild rice and the chicken noodle soup. I can say both had good flavor - just what I needed. However, both were also sadly lacking in the chicken department. I'd recommend adding some more veggies and at double the chicken as well.
