I always think of Panera as a friendly place but this server was not like that at all. He seemed annoyed that I ordered a cappuccino. He took forever to make it and was actually cleaning off the machine while my drink just sat there. The seating area was messy. Tables with plates on them. First time at Panera for breakfast and I was pleasently surprised. We got two sandwiches plus coffee for right around $20. We ordered on the app and our sandwiches were served up hot and fresh. Similar to other reviews about this location, I've given them more chances since the first, subpar experience. Indeed, the staff would never have lasted at any food service business I'd worked when young. Ordering Rapid Pickup with an ingredient to be omitted due to a food allergy, I didn't notice until I got home that they included the condiment. I usually tip cash, and did this time as well. Pretty good experience today at Panera on Clairton Blvd. After an exhausting day Christmas prep shopping, we stopped here for a quick, warm meal. I honestly never understood what was so great about Panera until I tried their bagels. Wow. Way better bagels than anywhere else I've had them. I ordered "to go" on the tablet order station that is near the entrance. It took 20 min to get a couple of salads and a bowl of soup, and it was not busy. It looked like there was one person who was actually working on the prep line and four or five other employees standing around chatting. Once I recieved a completely different sandwich than requested. Customer service for panera is also typically a 30 minute wait time to reach an actual human. And then there's no refunds... just rewards added to My Panera card. I am forced to use Panera for catering much to my own dismay at times... as I am more impressed with places like Roma pizza (amazing service, and they can work with any budget even when you are feeding 125+), Chick Fil A, or even Jimmy Johns. I was so pleased this morning to pick up my catering order! The staff was so kind and the order was absolutely perfect. I so appreciated having all of the extra silverware, plates, napkins when traffic prevented me from arriving nearly enough to set up. Very pleasant experience. I came in and was waited on right away by Dorothy and greeted with a smile. She made sure to check if I had a Panera rewards membership. I had a question and a special request with my sandwich. She was detailed with her responses, making sure I got what I wanted, no mistakes. I got a latte, too, and she let me know I could get a pastry for 99 cents. I wasn't sure what I would get, so, she walked me over to what was available. I got sold on the pumpkin muffin (yes, already excited for fall). When we were done, she reminded me not to forget to pick up my latte and where to go to pick up my order. We typically enjoy our experiences at Panera - it's consistent, fresh and there are healthy options. That's why we've given this location numerous chances - that and the fact that it's closest to our home. But something needs to be done about this location. The young teens with seemingly no adult supervision working there are ruining this place. Taking too much time to socialize instead of taking care of customers, getting orders right, giving attitude to customers, etc. This and the fact that they're constantly out of basics. We stopped going there for a while, because they'd always be out of items by 6:30pm. We started going back recently, and the food is just not as good as other locations. And it's never as clean (not dirty, but not as clean). Yesterday was the straw that broke the camel's back. I made a "rapid pickup order," and it was anything BUT rapid. I got there, and the first thing I noticed was that our items were literally thrown into the bag - salad tossed on top of soup so that the salad was on its side. There were also no beverage cups. I waited a few minutes by the counter as the employees flirted. When they finally acknowledged my presence, I asked for the cups. The young girl couldn't be bothered and told me to ask another employee. I went to the register to ask, and waited first for the cashier to finish with a customer (totally ok) and then as SHE socialized with an employee who came in as a customer. All I wanted was my cups! Finally get them. Get in the car and realize... no bread with our food. AND they threw a plastic spoon and a metal fork in. When we got home, we noticed that the soup was only about 2/3 full, and the salad wasn't completely full either. It's as if they can't even be bothered to take their time and get things right. That's my issue with this location. These employees seem unsupervised, and no one is there teaching them to get things right. And when you try to resolve something, they get an attitude. We've never experienced these issues at other locations and have given this one more than enough chances. Unacceptable. read more

I asked for the grilled cheese and chili. Got a warm sandwich and tomato soup. When asked to grill the sandwich I was told "it was toast". I guess blowing hot air on bread means toasted.
