I like this place. I have been here a zillion times. It is great that you can order at the kiosk and skip the line, which is obscenely long at lunch. When I make alterations to a traditional order, I'd say the follow the instructions like 70% of the time. That being said, at this Panera in particular it feels like the employees do not take any pride in their work. Ingredients are not spread evenly throughout a sandwich. They are pooped onto the bread with the grace of a kindergardener. Sometimes melted cheese or sauce will only be on half of the bread. Or all of the ingredients in a salad will be relegated to the bottom, and all the dressing will be lumped up in a top corner. Just toss the salad! What the heck, guys! Toasted sandwiches are sometimes paninied into a flat pancake or burned. The same sandwich is completely different two different days. No quality control. But unlike these other whiney reviews, the employees, while being harried, are usually quite polite. They are overwhelmed with the lunch rush. But you don't come to Panera for the food quality. I go to Panera because you can sit comfortably for a long period, use your computer and it is comfortable. The food comes out quickly, you can get salads (unlike most places nearby). So just get yourself a tea (the diet pepsi machine seems to always be broken), sit in one of the plushy seats, plug in your computer if you are at the one seat in the back with an outlet and pretend your sandwich isn't hideous. PS: Bathrooms here are hideous, multi-stall monstrosities. Always filthy. Also, why does Panera offer napkins in the dining area but not paper towels in the bathroom? read more

Unfortunately Panera is not what it used to be. The quality of the sandwiches in this location is below average. Cashiers are usually friendly but the sandwich makers seem to hate their job and the result of their dissatisfaction is in their final product: very mediocre. I had an asiago bagel with onion cream cheese, it was ok. The cappuccino took forever to be made and they were not very busy. I would give this place a 4 just because the staff was extremely courteous. We order a bunch of food and when I got mine it was mistakenly mis configured to a whole different sandwich. I took it back to the staff in the kitchen and they made me a brand new sandwich without asking any questions. The guy behind the counter in the kitchen even apologized for making it wrong (which is rare in today's world). I got the turkey sandwich on ciabatta bread which is my favorite. Is it my unwittingly feeble attempt to pad my review count so that I may once more be a Yelp Elite Member to attend elite events, and devour all their free food, free booze, and swag?, perhaps. A terminology so far removed from what we know as "coffee" nowadays, that its almost foreign to us. It doesn't have a fancy new name. There's no mocha, no frapping action, no ninja mixing machine, no cute little expresso cup to use, and no hazelnut flavor enhancer. It is roast coffee. But, it is very pure, very distinctive, and very tasteful with sip-after-sip roast coffee. Roasting is to coffee what Smoking is to pulled pork. If you have had both, you'll know what I'm talking about. I'm sipping on this Roasted Iced Coffee right now as I type out this urgent public announcement, and I'm day-dreaming about slow smoked pulled pork twisting and writhing between my teeth, ooozing between my fingers & nails as I forego the fork and make it a truly hands-on affair. Panera is my go to for a multitude of reasons. Want to chat with friends over lunch in a comfy booth and not be rushed out? Panera. Need a filling lunch to get your through the day? Panera and a Mango smoothie. Got a hangover? I swear Panera cures my hangovers. You get the idea. I love this place. Yeah, its a bit pricey. But really only a couple dollars over any other spot you may frequent. And the quality of food and ingredients is hard to come by in a quick service restaurant. I always get the "You Pick Two" combo combining half a Chipotle Chicken Panini and Broccoli Cheddar Soup. Chips AND bread on the side. That's right- I go crazy with it. If I can splurge a bit, I'll order a smoothie cause they're delicious- of course. There's a ton of other items offered on the menu like the Mac and Cheese (It's so good! Like so so good!), Soup in a Bread bowl, salads, deli style sandwiches, bagels, muffins. The list goes on. There's just so much to try and enjoy. Service can vary from person to person. But what is consistent is that the managers are always receptive to the customers. Anytime I've had a minor issue (forgot to give me chips or a spoon), they're right on it. Panera makes great bread. Obviously you don't got to a place that makes baked goods if you are calorie counting. I went to this location after doing some early holiday shopping and highly impressed with the pastry ring that I returned home with. It was three different types of danish in a flattering ring. Apple, Cheese and Cherry, giving us options for people to choose from. The pastry ring had just come out so it was even slightly warm when we brought it home. Word of advice for anyone purchasing baked goods, find out the baking schedule (when each item you want to buy is baked) so you can come and get it when it is freshest. Then I always upgrade my broccoli and cheddar soup to a bread bowl (trust me, their sour dough bread is among the most delicious) and get a cafe sandwich (smoked turkey on country or the asiago turkey). Standard Panera, but this one has not been updated to have the self ordering kiosks in the front. I did rapid pick up for breakfast and my food was ready waiting for me when I arrived. The spinach artichoke soufflé was good. It's similar to a quiche, but is a bit lighter. Crust was flaky and not too oily. Also tried the pumpkin spice latte. It is good if you like coffee drinks on the sweeter side. It had more of a pumpkin flavor seemed to be a bit stronger then the nutmeg/cinnamon spice flavor. I've grown to love this place and I wish I could afford to go there much more often. Look, writing a review for a chain like this isn't something Im crazy about doing. However I feel compelled. This place opened up in Rego Park, my thoughts initially were, meh. I've been to the one in Manhattan and it never impressed me. That thought changed.. I went in and ordered something. Mom wanted a soup but I couldn't remember which one she wanted me to bring home. I called and ended up mumbling under my breath something to the effect of "I would get more bread to go with her soup if I could afford it" to which the lady behind the counter asked me why mom wasn't there. I told her that she was in bed because her rheumatic arthritis had acted up but she wanted something for lunch. She not only gave me the piece of bread that came with the soup she gave me more bread and a note that said "Feel better". I should have written this review a few months ago. I've been back in there and I haven't seen her since but it really put a smile on my mother and my face to see someone was willing to do something nice like that. The place is cool, the food is great, and as you can see the customer service can be awesome. Only downside is that it is pricey.
