Out of Rye before 1p? The Rye is BY FAR my favorite. And nothing else is close. With no other choices close in similarity they really should try to make enough to get to lunch time. I always come here for coffee since I have my monthly subscription. Some of the workers are welcoming and warm when you get in. Some doesn't even look at you in the eye even you already carried the empty container of half and half begging for a refill. Oftentimes they ran out of coffee which made me wait for a while, and that's okay however sometimes it'll take sometime to get refills and the coffee corner is dirty with lots of spills and empty sachets of sugar. Guess they're that busy? But I think that would not be an excuse. Panera in N Freeway blvd is much well organized and well managed. I noticed that every now and then they checked the coffee corner to make sure they have coffee available and areas are clean. But this Panera in Del Paso Rd doesn't seem to meet my expectations. However there is this amazing worker named Nora who is exceptional, she's all smile and greeted everyone with a bright smile. I see her around always busy working and she made sure there's always coffee available in the busiest time of the day! When she's not around the whole place seems like a mess, spills on the counters, tables has crumbs and unclean, no table napkins, half and half not filled and the worst part they run out of coffee and have to wait for them to brew. As a coffee lover, waiting to get coffee seems like forever when we really need it. And getting in about to fill your cup and nothing came out from the jug is frustrating! I observed other customers already tapping their foot while waiting and trying to be patient while they wait, it wouldn't be easy when you are running late and can't seem to go without coffee before going to work. Multi tasking is a must in every worker I suppose and also team work to make this business at its best. read more

The 2 stars is more for the service than food. We have only been to a Panera bread a couple times, and never this one before. We ordered and then stood aside to wait for our order. It was really slow, but no one instructed us about where to wait nor were there any signs to tell us either. So, when several employees asked if they could help us after we already ordered we knew something was up, but still no idea what it was. (Still no instruction) Turns out you pick up your order around the corner at a different counter... how were we supposed to know? You can't even see that counter from the front where you order. The only way we finally found our food, was that we started searching around for it after we heard our name called (from somewhere???)... And then it was just sitting on the counter with one other order and no one around. We had to call to the back to confirm which was ours. Also, I think you can hardly call thick-ish-cut roast beef, steak. I ordered the "steak" and cheddar panini and it was really just roast beef, it was still tasty, just not really steak. Call it what it is people! Overall not impressed, I kind of liked Panera before this, but I'm not so sure anymore. Let's just hope it's only bad employees at this location. read more

I haven't been this satisfied with a work day lunch break in a while. I was working out in Natomas today and ended up spending lunch at this Panera. The employees were friendly and appeared to be hard working. The food was fresh as always and the bread with my meal was literally piping hot and straight out of the oven. I had the Chipotle 1/2 sandwich and the broccoli and cheese 1/2 soup combo. It came with your choice of bread and I ordered a delicious toffee cookie for desert. Having lunch at Panera is so much nicer than simply stepping into a fast food place, and more time efficient than sitting down at a restaurant. I highly recommend it for those who want something satisfying for lunch, but have a tight schedule. I've seen reviews of inconsistency in their food, but I'm glad I have yet to experience that. I don't particularly care for much anything on the menu. Although the only items I've had are the sandwiches. The staff is decently nice, and the eating area seems okay. I've had a PB & J, and a friend has had that choice too... the bread was less than impressive. I know it's PB & J but it's Panera! Another of our party ordered soup that came with a very dinky chunk of bread to dip.. It literally looked like leftovers from a previous sandwich. I ordered the roast beef sandwich.. it came with lettuce, tomato, onion and horseradish and I chose it because I was looking for some kick.... It was very bland and was like eating tasteless beef with horseradish. Note: Make sure to double check your order. I was handed a large bag for our group of five and asked "Five sandwiches with sides for all" and got a blank stare "OH Hang on, I forgot..." I cannot believe I want to give 4 stars to a freeking chain place that is going to take over the world one small breadshop at a time. Seriously, this one just opened and they are opening another one in the new Truxel Target shopping center. Does the world really need another panera bread place within a few miles of the other?? But because of it's location i want to give it an extra star, but i can't bring myself to do it. But they do have some pretty fantastic bread. I like the cheese bread stuff, although it is a bit greasy. And the other day I went in for a bagel (it is the nearest place other than safeway) and the baked egg souffle with cheese spinach and bacon was coming out of the oven and was all steamy and hot and so i had to have one and man oh man I couldn't believe it tasted good. I scarfed it down way too fast. The edges were pretty buttery, almost in a bad way and then only because it made me feel really guilty to be eating it. If this place was closer to other places, it would definitely only be a 3 star rating, but i want to give it one extra star because it's right by my house in the suburbs and i can now at least walk somewhere decent for breakfast. but i just can't do it. so 3 stars it is. oh and i just remembered, the bagel itself is inexpensive, but to add cream cheese is like 1.50 extra and the cream cheese comes in a container you spread yourself. total rip off. so yah 3 stars. read more

There was an actual dead bug in my soup. Like right there in my soup I'm so mad but at least it was extra seasoning with refreshing crunch in my creamy soup. But all jokes aside there was a literal dead beetle in my soup and I'm never eating here again. They gave me a refund and offered me a free pastry but why would I want to eat any more food from them if they put a dead bug in my other food. read more

So this is the first Panera I ever went to. These seem to be popping up like flies lately. What's interesting, is how in Sac, there seems to be a string of the same chain restaurants within a five mile radius of each other. I guess that's pure convenience for everyone no matter where you live in the area. (I swear there must be 3-4 of these from the 80 to just past Del Paso). The bread here is really good if you get it fresh. However if it's just a few hours old, some of it can be dried out. I really liked the tomato basil, and spinach breads. we also split a steak sandwich they had as a special that day. The sourdough was pretty tough for being so called "fresh" however, everything else tasted great. I can't say I've been to a Panera since, but one did just open up near work, and hopefully it's at least the same, if not better quality than this one. read more

I have come to this Panera several times, usually the music is so loud I can hear people talking loud 2 tables away from me. Today I visited 35 min before closing, I ordered a drink, the cashier didn't ask for my rewards number I had to tell her, she proceeded to poor my drink in a to go cup and I had to tell her that I was drinking it there. She didn't even ask if it was to go or for there. I ordered a pumpkin spice latte which comes with wiping cream and I had to request it. We always hear good things about Panera and love the idea of a fresh option so we stopped here the other day. Service was friendly, surroundings were clean and well presented. The prices were sky high, $9 for a sandwich? Ok, for a really great sandwich I'm willing to pay $9. I ordered the roasted turkey and avocado blt on sourdough. All of the turkey was stacked up in a narrow tower on one half of the sandwich and the rest of the ingredients were on the other side, again the turkey was in a narrow tower right in the center (I've uploaded some pictures). I had to dismantle the entire thing and remake it. My husbands sandwich had similar issues. Overall the ingredients were good and I enjoyed my sandwich but I've had far better for a lot less money. If I am going to pay $9 for a sandwich it's gotta be better than this. We probably won't be back. read more

Came here to have tea while I do some work. The people working at the register greeted me as soon as I came in and serve very friendly. I ordered hot green tea. The tea was flavorful. I gave 4 stars because the tables and seats at some of the booths were dirty and I had to wipe them down myself. I have a PROBLEM with Postmate have failed to deliver my order 6 TIMES!!!!! I call them and they won't answer the phone just say delivery attempted and take my lunch/dinner and leave. I call Panera Bread and they cancel my order so I am not charged but Postmate is suppose to be in the business of delivering food and they say there is NO person or # they can transfer me to that can help launch a complaint. After auguring for ten minutes finally she say's she will have a manager call back in the next 2 business days. Really, Panera Bread Please, Please discontinue there service and use Grub-hub. My go to quick breakfast is the spinach artichoke souffle it is definitely a treat with its buttery cheesy croissant base. Also a fan of the mango smoothie which is the perfect blend of sweetness and not too bad on calories either. My biggest complaint about Panera is it's value for the money. I don't know if this is my luck or what! Every time I go get myself a bagel early in the morning before 7am at this location, I'm always handed stale or hard as rock bagels! I've tried different flavors, but it's always seems old tasting to me, like it has been from the day before. I expected fresh, but this is not it! Came her for dinner with my daughter and grandkids, we where not even greeted with a hello just a scowl from some person that clearly should not work with the public. it seems to me the business model is set up for this place for the consumer to order your food online pay for it and then walk in and search through these cubbyholes to find your name on the bag and grab your food and get out of there so you do not have to deal with their employees. I have been coming to this location for over 10 years now. Their Hazelnut coffee is probably the best coffee I've ever had (Starbucks doesn't compare I'm sorry). They have a great breakfast selection as well as lunch. Only thing I don't enjoy are their salads, they are simply too small for the price you pay. Recently I've noticed several unwanted changes to the breakfast options that Panera serves. The breakfast sandwiches on Ciabatta no longer resemble the Ciabatta bread (in the menu) or have the previous good taste. The cinnamon scone crunch pastries have been replaced with a less tasty product and the cherry danish have been replaced with a half sized Cherry Cheese Brittany at the same cost as the previous bigger option. Cool conveniently location in a nice-ish area of town. "just another panrera" Nice Panera with the usual, lots of large windows and natural lighting. Plenty of seating, parking, etc. Pretty relaxed environment - nice staff. They've got the usual good stuff - chicken & wild rice soup, pumpkin muffins are recommended. The frozen mocha's nice. Unlike the "deep south", there isn't any sweet tea here, which was interesting, as I've seen sweet tea even at Panera in Manhattan (which was also a surprise). My family and I always stop by here to grab a quick bite to eat whenever we're driving down to San Diego. We always end up choosing this location due to its close proximity from the freeway. I always order the Mediterranean vegetable sandwich , which has always been delicious. My son loves the PBJ, but isn't too fond of the fruit yogurt that comes with it. The husband orders different things, but I've never heard him complain. I love their iced green tea, much better than Starbucks'. The location also has free WiFi and comfortable seating throughout. Our orders always come out quickly and fresh. Staff has always been courteous and accommodating. Salina, the cashier, was authentically friendly, humorous, and had a big smile on her face... she also brought my bag out to me personally after it was ready. This is a Panera that is a great stop if you have some time to kill before a flight out of Sacramento. Internet access was up and running top notch, and the food was what you expect from Panera.
