Loved the customer service here. Went in late at night just a while before the closing time. They were still happy to serve us. It took a little longer than usual (only by a few minutes) for our order to be made but the manager apologized for the delay and offered us free pastries. The food as always was good and comforting. read more

1) DISRESPECTFUL STAFF 2) UNEDUCATED STAFF 3) we told them that we wanted a regular Mediterranean veggie with no egg and they put egg. 4) they made us repeat the whole refund process and it took forever. 5) they wanted our refunded food back (no restaurant does that) a mistake was made, you are not supposed to do that it's your fault. So I'm a sucker and tried this location a few more times bc it's so close to me, they still mess up something in EVERY SINGLE ORDER. I'm starting to think they do this as a joke. I went Saturday morning for a dozen bagels and cream cheese- the website had said for days they were out of majority of the cream cheeses, if figured that had to be a glitch, what kind of bakery is out of cream cheese multiple days in a row? Well, they were. They also had zero plain bagels at 11am on a Saturday. WHAT A JOKE. This is a bakery, popular for breakfast. So disappointed. They also didn't have the coffee cake I had ordered ready. This is the worst Panera location for online ordering (pick up or delivery) Every time they are either out of the soup I want, and they always leave out something. Last night they called to tell me they were out of creamy tomato soup, I replaced it with Broccoli and when I got my food there wasn't soup even in the bag. I also asked for no chicken on my salad and when I was eating it found a piece that had gotten in my meal. That says a lot about how disorganized their kitchen is. read more

Ordered takeout (rapid pickup) through Panera app regularly (two to three times a week). Twice happening that the prep folks forgot the dressing. What's up with the staff there?? Now I shouldn't trust those staffs there in that restaurant, and I MUST check my order before leaving their store. Do something....mgmt. QC issue here. read more

So, I usually don't eat in Panera because the food has been very poor in quality, and honestly has never tasted good for me. I don't know what they are doing different here that is worth making mention of, that made me come back for a second time. I have been here twice already, and the ladies in the kitchen keep me coming back. The place is also very clean. Nothing like San Francisco. Wow, the chicken was great! Fresh, tasted good-- and we do notice. The side salad I had also tasted good. Overall, I had a very positive experience in this location. The upper management must be very proud to have those ladies in the kitchen (and the friendly guys at the front). Their food has been the best I have ever had in Panera. Please keep up the good work! Conveniently located Panera on 1st St. among all the other restaurants and shops that have popped up here since the Target opened. We came here to utilize the free wifi so not to be too stingy, we picked up a couple of teas. I love that they have a lot of different tea options and you can refill the hot water as many times as you want! The interior's nice with lots of seating and nicely partitioned. The only thing bad was the free wifi which basically reset every few minutes which made working really really difficult and there wasn't anyone in the place when we went (okay a few folks but shouldn't have been so many issues). I'll likely come back for potential breadery but definitely not for its wifi. read more

Been coming here for lunch 3 days in a row now. Each time, I always order their CHOOSE 2 combo - a sandwich with a soup and side of fruit...plus a cookie on the other side. So far, I've tried the smoke ham, grilled cheese, and peanut butter. All three were very tasty, but my favorite amongst the three has to be the grilled cheese. The sides are not oily and the edges are perfectly crisp. In terms of soup, I've always only gotten the chicken noodle as I'm not too keen on the other flavors they offer. Cookies - I've tried the peanut butter twice and chocolate chip once. I really love the peanut butter cookie!!! Service-wise, they bring you your food. You bring your trays..etc. to an area and sort out the used utensils into a bucket yourself. This place is well lit, spacious, clean, and the food is good. FOUR stars. read more

I can't believe I have never been to a Panera bread in my life! Decided to come try this place out for lunch today and oh my gosh it is pretty good! They have a ton of baked goodies to choose from, a little on the pricey side compared to other places, but probably because it is a chain. The concept of the place is different, you first order your meal and then the person at the cash register gives you a buzzer and servers find you and serve the food to you. Even though the line was SUPER long during the lunch hour, it was no more than a 3 minute wait due to three cash registers open. I ordered the "pick 2." I chose the mac n cheese (of course!) and half salad of asian sesame with a baguette on the side (who wants to be healthy and get an apple haha). For what I ordered it was $10 bucks, not bad I guess. The food took about 4 minutes to be delivered to me. The mac n cheese is pretty good, actually surprisingly good! It would be better with some a bread crumb topping but maybe that is asking too much. It is not the best mac n cheese but it will satisfy your mac craving if you got one. The asian sesame salad was definitely full of flavor. The dressing was kind of on the light side which is fine because the chicken is packed with seasonings...if you ate the chicken alone I would even say it has too much flavor. The mini baguette that they serve your lunch with is addicting! It comes out warm and I just wish they served it with butter, then it would have taken it over the top. The servers are very friendly and constantly ask if there is anything that we needed. Definitely will come back for some pastries and their sandwiches. read more

We wouldn't think even a second before giving a "5 star" to this place. We frequent Panera Bread mostly in the week-ends for brunch. Our favorites/standard meal is broccoli cheddar in a bread bowl, chipotle chicken sandwich and coffee; oh yeah; they have one of the best coffees. The nice thing about this place is that coffee is bottomless. The Panera Bread at this location is fairly recent and the ambiance is flawless. The cool thing is they have free WiFi. We have spent several hours here; working with the laptop and leisurely enjoying the coffee. read more

I want to give a 0 if I can. I went 12/8/2020 at 7:30am. There were a lot of people inside, no social distance management. A middle-aged woman served my coffee. I ended up throwing away my coffee. It's covid time, and the employees here not only DO NOT WEAR GLOVES, but on top of that today, one of the employees PUT HER FINGER INTO MY COFFEE CUP. SERIOUSLY PANERA? Is this your safety protocol? This is definitely a HEALTH CODE VIOLATION. 1 in every 400 people are infected with covid right now, death rate is extremely high. I just want to get some nice panera coffee (which I do love) in peace. Panera is not making me feel very safe right now, in fact I feel put in danger by Panera. I'm EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED. I don't need your employee to personally care about our health or lives, but from a legal point of view, you need regulations; from a sales point of view, if you want to have customers and keep them, pretend to care, or at least have some basic safety precaution. After calling and messaging customer service, I'm starting to think no one cares at Panera. Not the employees, not the corporation, not customer service. Will be taking my business elsewhere. everyone else who wants to have employee finger in your coffee cup, feel free to stay with Panera. read more

Panera Bread is a chain bakery/cafe with consistently good quality. Granted nothing is really extraordinary, sandwiches and bread are always fairly fresh and tasty. Clean, fast, free wifi and ample of seats. Have a couple of hours to kill with a group of friends? Panera bread is a good spot to hang out. read more

Bought a Cesar salad that I had them add avocado to it. Which is about $3 extra to add..whatever. Anyways, I received my salad. I left to go back to work and opened it and I was so upset at the avocado they had given me. It was so brown and black the avocado was clearly old and shouldn't have been used. Mushy and just gross. It ruined the whole salad. I've gone here a couple times now and have always never been pleased with service or food I get. This was the last straw - this place is gross. read more

Today is the second day in a row I have ate Panera and let me tell you.. no regretss. I went to a SV location yesterday and to this one on 1st street today. The quality was consistent in both. I always get the half mac & cheese and half fuji apple salad with avocado instead of chicken (no extra charge to swap!). Their papaya green tea is an absolute FAVORITE of mine. It's the perfect amount of sweetness for me and it's super refreshing for this heat. It's just something about the mac and cheese that Panera has on lock. Maybe its the gooey flavorful cheese sauce. Or maybe its the giant pasta shells that trap all the cheese in them. It's ALWAYS good. No lie, when I first got the fuji apple salad, I was confused as to why the apples were dehydrated and not fresh. It was definitely something I hadn't seen before but the subtle taste of apple with the pecans, greens, crumbled cheese, tomato, onion and avocado was a match made in heaven. Panera, you have stolen my heart! I could probably eat this 4 times a week, maybe even everyday if I could. read more

i've worked in this area for 11 years and never tried Panera! i was first introduced to the crumb cake from a co-worker. Today my coworker invited us to lunch. i had to say, very impressed with the establishment. Very clean and peaceful. the have a bunch of drinks to pick from. the lemonade agave was BOMB!! i had to get the crumb cake so good! The food service here appears well enough, but something is clearly off. Came here during lunch time on a Saturday after a bike ride. We noticed that many of the cushions on the patio were gone. And found them in a makeshift homeless encampment in Penera's outdoor dining area! Meanwhile the workers keep coming and going, delivering food and cleaning up the dirty dishes, and completely ignoring the homeless encampment! On their property! I want to give them a good review but, my God, is this place even clean? There's trash and rotting food right there. read more

PANERA BREAD I am so happy that they opened up a Panera Bread near my work place! During the grand opening, the lines were super long and went outside the door, but the line moved quickly and efficiently. Staffers were stationed throughout the line to explain what the ordering processes and to answer any questions that they might have on the menu. The chicken frontegra panini and turkey/artichoke paninis were so good, that I always have temptations to order a second helping! Great 2-item menu combo for $6.99, and of course, their bagels, bread, and pastries, are among the best that I have ever eaten. Throw in free Wi-Fi, and Panera Bread is one of my favorite hot spots to eat and relax at. read more

Ordering off the machines at the front is simple and fast. It's really cool that they can find you at your table with no hassle whatsoever. This Panera is pretty big so there's a lot of seating available. That does sound good but a lot of the tables weren't bused and just a tip to never look at the cracks between the banquettes and the walls. Those are filled with the crumbs of a thousand baguettes. I ordered a simple latte to sip on while I got some work done. It came out pretty quickly and was huge. Had no issues with the wifi. read more

Best chai latte hands down (or one of the best)! So frothy. The soba salad here is just as good as the one at the plant (the one across De Anza is gross), theres more spinach and less noodles in this one though. I wish the amount was more.\ Oh but their pannis are not made on real panni presses. read more

This is a great chain if you want a good bite to eat that's not a fast food gut buster like Mc Donald's. Had the Cobb salad which was fair. This certainly isn't gonna be like fine dinning but it's perfect for the need and price. read more

This panera was pretty decent. The shopping center that it's in was really packed (probably because I came around the lunch rush which was not a good idea). Parking was pretty difficult because everyone&their mothers seemed to flock here. The shopping center itself is quaint, relaxed, &pretty new so everything looks really nice. There was a long line but it seemed to go by fast. I ordered a you pick two: I got a simple grilled cheese with broccoli cheddar soup. Service was nice even though there were about a million people there. They have really nice outdoor seating with the plenty of options of sitting in the shade or the sun which was really nice. The food came pretty quick but I found it kind of gross that they kind of just put the piece of baguette I got along with my food just in the bag. Not covered or anything, just kind of thrown in there. It might be just me but that seemed a little gross?? How do I know if they grabbed it with their hands?? Oh well. The food was good (sandwich kind of lacking) but it's one of the better (&cleaner!) Paneras I've been to. read more

Came here for brunch on a Sunday and it wasn't pack. Order a cinnamon roll, ginger tea, and asiago cheese loaf thin slices. The cinnamon roll is huge! I couldn't finish it. Half way through, it became too sweet. The ginger tea taste perfect. Definitely recommend this place. read more

I like to drive 2 minutes or less for my morning coffee (all my blurry-morning-eyes can handle) .... And for this developing area of San Jose my options are freaking limited for that essential cup of Hot-Joe. There are no small "mom n pop" coffee joints. Only Starbucks, which is inside a Target (can't fathom getting coffee from inside a department store) and then of course Panera Bread. On Saturday / Sunday mornings Panera Bead has become my new go to spot. The coffee is pretty good - nothing spectacular, but it gets the job done. There is a vast variety of freshly baked bagels and other high caloric treats. The French toast bagel and the turkey, pesto, egg white breakfast sandwich are both immensely satisfying and leave me wanting more. This place and clean, well organized and does not draw the hectic-moronic crowd that Starbucks draws in. Looks to be a great spot of grab lunch or dinner (lots of pasta / salad options) or to sit leach off the wifi with your laptop. I prefer the small locally owned cafes, but this is the best option for your corporate cup of coffee. read more

Order on app. Food came out fast during lunch time. Earn 1 star. Order a pick 2: tortellini Alfredo and strawberry poppyseed salad. 1. Tortellini is freezer burned clumped together and was not cook throughout. More than 1/2 of the serving is too chewy to be eaten. Had to trash it. 2. The strawberry salad had a hair in it, color is different from my own. Disgusted! Will not go there again. So upset with the experience I forgotten to get a picture of the hair before trashing the whole order. read more

Tried the new bacon, tomato, grilled cheese sandwich. We were surprised to discover that it is not "grilled" at all but rather the sandwich is warmed in an oven to melt the cheese but the bread is not browned or toasted. Thinking there was a mistake, we sent it back to be grilled as advertised but they just warmed it again in the oven. Very disappointing. Also tried the new 10 vegetable soup. Not the same fresh garden vegetable recipe Panera had years ago. This soup is distinctly "southwest" in flavor with cumin, chili powder and poblano peppers in the mix giving it a spicy hot quality that some may like. Veggies are finely diced with something like sprouted brown rice in there, too. There is a "hearty" quality to the soup but we won't be ordering it again. read more

I would give a negative star if could. I question the sanitary conditions. Last time I was here I was given a salad with wilted, yellow and moldy greens. Greens I would be embarrassed to serve to myself much less my guests. Upon calling for a refund the manager said I would need to bring the salad back to the store to get a refund. Upon returning to the store she said I was the only one who complained about the salad even with the moldy wilted evidence in front of her. She then proceeded to make me another salad again with the same moldy, yellow and wilted greens. I appreciate the gesture but it's not edible. Today when we ordered two salads one customized due to allergies, the customization was ignored. When pointed out they "remade" the salad, however it is wrong again and when asked for a refund with option to just forego the salad the associate said manager said she is busy and she can take down your phone number for a refund and call you when she has time. Um ok? Last time I had to come into the store because it was an online order! This time I have to wait until she has time? And suddenly online orders can be refunded remotely? I guess there's no such thing as customer service. I have been waiting for 22 minutes already. Perfect time to write a review. I see I am not the only negative review. I asked the employee to remind the manager again and pointed out that it makes no sense, I looked behind me and saw 8-10 customers that's not being helped because I am still waiting. Everyone was nice enough to not rush us. Except one customer who kept coming up to the counter but was ignored as well. When I asked for the contact information to submit feedback she gives me a phone number for Timmie? rather than the corporate office. I'm not going to waste time to ask for the correct info. And no thanks to hospitalizations by salad. I wish I saw the photo of the cockroach in cheddar soup posted by another reviewer prior to ordering here. I certainly don't trust a remake of a salad that's wrong twice (allergies) It's a such a shame. Have some self respect and please respect your customers' time. read more

Save this admin's day! I had a lunch order with another vendor who was to deliver lunch by 11:30. 11:35AM I got a call and they forgot to do my lunch order. sigh. luckily Panera Bread is across the street. Called them and I dont even mind picking the lunch order for 14ppl if they can get it done by noon for me. got there at 11:55am. ALL IS DONE! got help to the car with three huge bags of stuff and I had lunch for the meeting by 12:05PM. everyone's happy, especially this admin. BTW, I ordered the box lunches of qty. 2 each of their speciality sandwiches. I received good responses from everyone that the sandwiches were good and big and came with chips or cookies. perfect! read more

I too am so happy that there is a Panera near my house. However, it stops there, unfortunately. This particular location seems to be out of state. It's not the service or courtesy that is the problem. It is with the cashier not asking if you've got a Panera Bread card while your order is being run up. It has happened so many times. What's up with that? Is it because of the fact that I just have coffee? I would highly recommend skipping this location and going over to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf a few doors down or driving to Peet's at the Rivermark Shopping Center. Forget coming here during lunch time as Brocade, Dell SonicWall, and many other companies located nearby come to this and other restaurants. It is best to come here either before noon or after 2 PM. read more

Expect a wait during busy time to get your food. Inside is bright and open. It has a nice outdoor seating area too. Their sandwiches and salads are amazing. We ordered the Chimichurri Steak and Bacon Sandwich & the Seasonal Goat with Summer Peaches salad. The sandwich is served warm. Both are delicious and flavorful. Their Kale and Apple Rainbow Salad is great too. It's tangy and sweet, not too sour. We ordered a small side of it. This is one of the best sandwich/salad place. Highly recommended.

It is on the smaller side, but most of the stores nearby are not very large. I assume this also works for the grab and go option for nearby workers. The last sandwich I purchased had to be thrown away after I took a big bite out of it and pulled out a long strand of hair from inside my mouth . It was fully mixed in with the meat and I didn't realize it was there until I was already chewing on it. Unfortunately I won't be able to go there again for awhile from feeling a bit grossed out from this experience.

Worst place when it comes to customer service and management. The main manager timmy is very unprofessional when it comes to caring and understanding about her employees and has been one of the worst managers ive had! Acting so nice to everyone but treats her employees like shit well only the ones she likes of course. There is so much favoritism working here and honestly thats why there always the same FAT, UGLY, JEALOUS OLD women working there specifically another manager named ALICIA, so if you want to be in a stress free environment then I definitely wouldn't recommend working or buying anything at this cafe specifically. honestly think they need better managers to run that cafè. Thats why Timmy is so desperate to get good reviews but they don't deserve one! read more

There was a skinny guy training the new manager but he have this bad attitude. Then she points to another girl and says "she will help you." the other girl does not even look up or give us the time of day until I ask for her name and even then she doesn't even ask how she can help!! I told my husband they act like our middle schooler, so indifferent and entitled, lol! I just don't understand. Maybe I am old. Anyway the reason why I bumped from one star to four was the Manager, I think his name was Gary. Super attentive, on it, just amazing. He gave us a gift card for the food being late, took us seriously and actually looked us in the eye and talked to us. He even made some comments about my husband's t shirt which had a band he liked, even though it was super busy, he took a few seconds to make a connection. I am not sure why there is such a big gap between the EQ of the waitstaff and management vs the host staff. I hope Olive garden will address this. But all in all we still love olive garden Milpitas.

We also ordered soup, and when Sam asked if I wanted to try a different soup for a refill, I said no. He then offered to bring me one to-go so I could try it, so we took him up on it and got the Chicken Gnocchi! Our food came out very quickly. Unfortunately, while my partner was still finishing his salad and had only taken a few bites of the Chicken Alfredo, he noticed a hair in the food. We immediately let Sam know, and he quickly got the manager involved. The manager handled the situation very professionally and offered us a free entrée. He also offered to remove the Chicken Alfredo from our bill, which we accepted instead of getting another entrée. He even offered us a free dessert, which we took to-go since we were in a bit of a rush. Obviously, finding a hair in our food was disappointing and not something anyone wants to experience. That is the only reason I'm giving this location 3 stars. Everything else about our experience was exceptional. The service, attentiveness, friendliness, and the way the staff handled the situation were all outstanding. Sam was incredibly kind and attentive throughout our entire visit and was always quick with refills and anything we needed. The manager also did a great job resolving the issue and making sure we left feeling taken care of. If it weren't for the hair in our food, this would easily be a 5-star experience. The service was exceptional, and we truly appreciated how professionally everyone handled an unfortunate situation. We would definitely consider coming back!
