Worst Panera experience ever! I used to live in Fresno and the Panera I used to go was the best. I heard there was one in sand city and I defiantly decided to stop by with a friend after doing some shopping at ulta. If I would of known how horrible they were I would of gone to Starbucks. It was only 11am when we walked it on a Saturday to get a bite to eat. My friend and I decided to order our food on the tablets they have instead of going to the cashier. I ordered a cherry vanilla bagel with cream cheese and a large hot chocolate. Got my number and sat. They took 10 minutes to bring my friends bagel, where is mine? Well 2 minutes later someone came and told me they were out of cherry vanilla bagel so I asked for a chocolate chip bagel. 5 minutes later he brings me my hot chocolate that had been seating on the counter for the longest and I know this bc I was able to see the window where the orders are put to be sent to the tables. I opened up the hot chocolate cup and the whipped cream was totally melted plus the marshmallows were just soggy by then. The hot chocolate wasn't even hot anymore it was just cold. I was so disappointed I was just waiting for someone to walk by and asked to get a new one. Minutes later I finally see someone and I showed them the nasty looking hot chocolate and asked to get a new one. Again I'm just waiting for one of my items to get to my table. Finally after waiting for the longest I get my bagel and guess what. It was in a brown paper bag cold not even cut plus no cream cheese container in the bag nor a knife to cut it. I asked if they could warm it up as I pulled out the bagel to show the guy because honestly wtf was that. He took the brown paper bag with the bagel inside and when it was brought out 5-6 minutes later cut and warmed up as I had asked there was no cream cheese on the side when I clearly had to asked him for cream cheese plus I had put it in my order when I first paid for it. I'm just seating there. No hot chocolate and no cream cheese. Just fantastic!! Finally after waiting for what felt forever I get my cream cheese and the hot chocolate I had asked for ago along time ago. By the time everything was finally brought to me after so many tries I didn't even enjoy my bagel. It was just a bagel!! How difficult could it really be. It was honestly the shittiest service ever. Starbucks does a better job than Panera giving you a hot chocolate and bagel order. Seriously get it together Panera!! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. Ordered 1/2 Steak sandwich with arugula. Came with clumps of steak on bread and a pickle that looked like it had been through a world war. Who ever made the sandwich didn't bother to separate the slices of steak (really roast beef) so the sandwich looked really crappy. $20 for two half sandwiches and an ice tea and small coffee. Ridiculous! Go get a sandwich at Bagel Bakery or Lucky's. read more

I have gone there three times. Each time, I find out ways to make my eating there better. If the food was not so good, I would never go back because the service is non existent. I came in a power chair (electric wheelchair) and ordered a cup of Lemon chicken orzo with kale soup with a soft roll, a glass of iced tea and a Muffy cookie. The waitress handed me a cup for the tea and I told her that I could not reach the fountain and she said she would bring it. The soup,roll, iced tea came with a napkin under the soup bowl and I began to eat my soup, only to wonder where the napkin was and decided that must be the way they serve you. I looked for the salt and pepper on the table and none present. I looked for the knife to butter my roll and there was none. I stopped the waitress and was told you had to serve yourself. I told her I was disabled and then she brought cheap packets of pepper and salt with a knife. Now when I ordered the food, I was not told I had to get everything my self. The food was delicious, but cheapened by the service set up. The first time, I sat at a table that I was so close to, I could hear everything the other person was saying on their cell phone. The next time, I chose a round table where no other person could be close. The exit was so narrow, I could hardly navigate my way out. Next time I order, I will order the knife, salt and pepper packets all with the order. Oh, the waitress forgot my Muffy cookie and I had to get her to come back. It seems to me they would save time having salt and pepper on the table, but maybe they are afraid customers will use too much. read more

HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE! This is the first time I have been to Panera and the last! We ordered a salad to go and asked the girl at the register what the size was. She showed us the size which was decent and when we opened the salad it was a few pieces of lettuce and chicken. The smallest and saddest salad I have ever seen for $6! We were visiting from out of town so had to come back out of our way to show them and get a refund. What an inconvenience and what a joke! Save yourself a trip and don't come here! read more

I love this restaurant and the food. But they don't always get it right. I've had to go back a few times to get my food redone again. Another thing I just hate the fact that everything is exposed all the-breads the bagels the cookies it's not in closed shelves it's all open with flies and God knows what all around it that she really cover up their breads it would keep it fresher and more enticing to buy I have a hard time buying product that is just exposed to the air. One time it was a bag of chips, another time it was arugula salad in my sandwich, and this time it was a skimpy sandwich (I get this sandwich at other paneras all the time and it's never that skimpy). I travel for work and like to drop in at Panera for a quick bite to eat between appointments. This one was dirtier than most. Tables sticky. I ordered a soufflé and she gave me the one off display! I was happy when Panera opened in this area. I have been there many times. Food has been good and service has been fast. The kiosks are easy to use. Their coffee is hot and fresh. There are always vacant seats even if the place is popular. One concern though. Recently, the number of bums in Sand City increased. Never give money to them. Buy food if you wish, but no cash. One day, I was at Panera. A young guy who looked like a high school kid was in front of me, pretending he was a customer. Then suddenly he turned around and asked me 3 dollars so that he can buy a pastry. I didn't respond, but later I told him that I would buy him a pastry. He said no. He wanted cash. So, I said no. After my rejection, he left and I saw him asking money to an elderly lady outside. So be careful. You could meet a bum inside Panera. If this happens to you, report to the workers there. Let them handle it. I hope that at least there is a sign "No solicitation." I have seen other bums around Panera. read more

First time visiting a Panera Bread. We were on vacation and just wanted a simple lunch so stopped in while in the Monterey area. The staff was lack-luster, it was hard to find a freshly wiped table and the bathroom was a bit dingy. This being our first time, the menu was pretty difficult to figure out. It's all over the place. It was a cold and rainy day so we thought a soup and sammy would be the way to go - the You Pick Two deal. And for some reason, we thought a half sammy with a cup of soup was going to be a good deal price wise. WRONG! We didn't realize that for a combo like this, you are paying full price for the half sammy and full price for the cup of soup. But the board makes it look like you should be getting a deal. Then, when we asked questions to confirm, we were just met with a blank stare. Of course, the line is building up behind us because we can't figure it out cuz the menu board is bizarre and we can't get help figuring it out because the gal was just not with it so we just ordered. Bill came out to $25.46 for 2 meals and an iced tea. Thank the heavens that your food is good or I would have returned it all for my money back. $4 for a CUP of squash soup just doesn't seem right at a fast food place. I should be paying these prices at a sit down restaurant with clean tables and comfie seats. Oh well. read more

Extremely disappointed... While I have visited many different Panera Breads over the years and had pleasant experiences today was not one. Being I have a "real" food allergy I have to be careful when I eat out. I am also not able to use the food ordering kiosk because I have to stress my allergy to insure that I don't fall violently ill. So I waited patiently in line. I first ordered for my family and then proceeded to order for myself. I explained my allergy. The cashier was quick to say (even after I shared that at other Panera's will bring out their ingredients book) that the chicken was fine for me to eat. She then went for the book after I patiently explained that I'd get very sick. She then glanced at the book but didn't really search. Note... Other Panera restaurants in the past have searched for me to make sure I don't get sick. Then while the line was backing up she quickly asked the manager and he just brushed over saying they had nothing but tuna that would work for me (mind you I have had steak at other Panera's in the past). Now, again, in the past I was given helpful service and treated as a paying customer at other Panera's and thus the reason I chose to try this one. Because of the horrible service and now embarrassment I paid for my family to eat but got nothing for myself. I am extremely disappointed that the staff and management chose to treat a person with a food allergy as a nuisance and not a paying customer. I went back in after my family ate to speak with the manager. I again, waited patiently in line. When it was my turn (keeping my voice as low as possible) proceeded to speak with the manager as he was the only one at the registers. I shared my experience and was given I nice "sorry" but it didn't feel authentic or sincere. I could have misread but both my husband and child agree (they were with me). Although I have eaten at this location with great experiences today I find it necessary to give this location one star. The only reason for this is because of the experience I had with a phone conversation today with a manager about my breakfast order. I called to let the manager know that although I had always had great experiences with the food, I was this one time disappointed because the food was not warm enough. She first asked me if it was an online order. This is how she could explain it wasn't warm. If I was late picking it up, of course it wouldn't be warm. After I told her I ordered in the restaurant she told me that it was made to order and could not be not warm. Very disappointing. The cheese was not melted on my bagel. Something went wrong in the kitchen and it should not have been put off on me as not being honest. read more

Grossest place ever. My chicken was raw and I paid $8 for about 10 small tortellinis. My friend got a bean soup but it was practically canned beans poured into a bowl. The one good thing was that the food came out fast but I suppose that is why it was raw and cold and gross. Don't recommend it if you want a quality meal. read more

I come here all the time but today I need to leave a good review because I used the kiosk to order a yogurt parfait which they didn't have the ingredients for and they accidentally forgot to label it as sold out. The manager came over to our table and asked me what I wanted in it's place and I wasn't in the mood for anything else so she personally made me a yogurt with other things in it's place. We've especially appreciated your respect for families in the quantity and quality for the price ration. May I say Thank You for bringing back my Favorite Broth Bowl for the fall season with the ricotta pasta inside ! Please leave it on the menu ! But this last Sunday upon receiving my Delicious Soup and my Turkey Bravo , I realized your appreciation of your Customers Loyalty had changed with you gave yourselves a 40% increase by giving me 40% less Sandwich! I have no complaints :) every time I come in this location, the staff is incredibly helpful and will answer all of my questions. Today I went in and asked for a sandwich that I could eat after my 6 hours of classes that wouldn't be gross and soggy and without missing a beat the sweet young guy had a variety of ideas for me. I also ordered an iced coffee, which I had never done before. Luckily, the guy helping me also asked me if I was familiar with how to go about getting the coffee, which I wasn't. I was so glad he went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. I'm happy I didn't have to walk around the Panera like an idiot just searching for the coffee machine haha. Anyway, my favorite things here are the cinnamon crunch bagel with honey walnut spread for breakfast or a snack, and the Caesar chicken salad sandwich for lunch. They don't have this particular sandwich on the menu anymore (I was addicted to it back in 2010 and I guess it got phased out) but whenever I ask, they whip it up for me no problem! Pick 2 are now full price combos-think $10. 1/2 flatbread turkey sandwich with cranberry was not worth $4.99-small sandwich, very little meat and 3 spinach leaves but strange ranch or Caesar dressing/spread on it. I should have sent it back. But what turkey I had was tasty and juicy by itself. Soup is also full price so Pick 2 is no longer a value proposition but a marketing ploy to entice you to order more. I am really disappointed guys. I've been to this location a few times and the food has always been mediocre, (hoping it would get better as I know it's still a new Panera). But today it was flat out terrible. I got a simple chicken caesar salad and C broccoli soup. The salad was old, there were no croutons, a dollop glob of dressing, no cheese and when I asked for croutons they tasted like they have been sitting on a counter for a week. We used to go to Panera regularly in southern california, years have passed and it was convenient to visit the Sand City location. Our memories were pleasant enough but this visit wasn't good, especially when we were looking for soup/salad no sandwich. Got the cobb salad and wonton soup - cobb wasn't special at all, mostly lettuce and kinda just tossed and messed in the bowl, wonton soup was oddly placed in a large bowl but only half full of some tasteless brown liquid with bits of things and wontons, too salty. they load you up with loaves of bread so you feel full when you leave but for $24, we left queasy and unsatisfied. corporate, bland, not good. less than a mile away is Chopstix....for $6 you get a huge Pho soup, very tasty and filling. we got the 1/2 panini side and it was fine, they make good panini i guess. I'm just saying - in a place with many far-better options, Panera sucked. and yet they were very busy. good for them, they don't need my money read more

Girl at counter could not have cared less. Told her it was our 1st time there, so asked questions, such as what size were the sandwiches? She showed me something way, way bigger than we received. My husband ordered a flatbread mozarella/tomato, but there was only 1 teaspoon (at most) of cheese, 1.5 slices of skinny tomato, 3 tiny greens on a whole big bed of flatbread. Ridiculous at any price. My sandwich was way skimpy, too. Plus, told the counter person that we were eating outside side, told her flatbread was for my husband, the sandwich for me, but when our meal was delivered there was only one plate. Had to go in & ask for a plate. Plus the drinks were completely watered down. We felt so ripped off & never wanted to go there again, but I decided to call Panera headquarters. They were great: professional, friendly, listened, acknowledged, related with skimpy sandwiches, diluted drinks, & bad customer service. She said she would call the manger, which is great, but after looking at all the bad reviews now, I wonder if it will do any good. They gave me a gift certificate to try again: we will, and, if it is bad again, I will immediately talk to the manager and, then, call up Panera Bread again if not satisfied. read more
