Panera is always solid, the quality of food is no surprise but I'm writing this review for the service. My girlfriend accidentally messed up her order on the kiosk after changing the size from full to half resulting in all of her changes she made to the sandwich going away so she ended up with the standard version. We didn't realize until the food was ready and an employee named Tanner overheard her realizing her mistake and offered to get her a new sandwich with the customizations she forgot to add without charge. He's the man, wanted to throw this out here to show our appreciation. read more

Usually I always have a good experience when I go to Panera and the food is great, but this visit wasn't the best. We waited over an hour for our food even though it wasn't that busy. I also noticed an electric fireplace with exposed wires, which made me nervous since I was letting my two year old walk around he could've easily grabbed them. Best place for soup and baguettes! I love the creamy tomato, French onion, and broccoli cheese. These are my favorites.

I stopped on my way home to pick up some yummy bread for dinner. The ordering process is just weird and makes no sense. You order and pay through a little computer kiosk when you first come in. But according to the girl standing behind the counter. The order information is not transferred to her. You have to re-order and tell her what you input on the computer (which didn't give me a receipt or print out). It wasn't a huge deal. it just doesn't make sense. The only thing it saved was her having to take my money. She seemed capable of that. She wasn't a dummy. The cookie and bread that I purchased were very good, as always. I placed an online order with Panera Bread two hours in advance for a 3:45 pickup. I arrived at 3:42, gave my name, and was told they had "just gotten the order" and would start working on it. By 3:55, I was still standing at the counter waiting. During that time, three different people walked in, ordered at the counter, and got their food before mine was even finished. That's when I got an email saying my order was ready. I asked the same staff members again, had to give my name again, and after a few minutes of searching, they finally handed me the food they had just made. What's the point of ordering hours ahead if the order isn't ready on time? Totally defeats the purpose of "order ahead." Very poor experience. read more

We walk in and there are a lot of large floor to ceiling windows. The place is very well lit with plenty of seating and tables inside and out. I think the place was clean, hard to tell. The floors were clear but every single table we went to was sticky. It was a uniform, even stickiness that was very off-putting. My napkin actually stuck to the table almost as if it had a spray on adhesive. Panera is a NOSH oriented eatery, therefore the prices can be quite high. No table service, just order at the register, pick up your order and get a table. The menu changes frequently and seasonly, so it can be a hit or miss scenario on finding something you like. We went in to use a gift card, I got the Chicken Cordon Bleu sandwich. It only comes on a large toasted baguette and isn't cut in half, wrapped in paper and it cost $14. The sandwich was toasted crispy and had good flavors of ham, chicken and cheese. It was actually a very delicious sandwich but the cost is hard to reconcile. A baguette roll, a little arugula, slices of ham and cheese and some pieces of chicken for over $14? It's a sandwich. To be honest though it was very delicious, just not sure it was worth the price. read more

Panera has become the embodiment of "expectation vs reality". The staff has always (for the most part) been very polite, but the food has become a tragedy. The sandwiches used to be well worth the higher price point because they were made with noticeably fresh, high-quality ingredients. It's now basically overpriced McDonalds. My last few visits have featured nothing more than sandwiches reminiscent of a public school cafeteria and near-frozen, bleak salads that yield less culinary inspiration than something you might find bagged at an Albertsons. Inedible garbage! Absolutely shockingly bad and expensive! The balsamic on the caprese sandwich was pure sugar! The kids grilled cheese was so expensive for a kids meal and it was made with AMERICAN CHEESE!!!!! You can't even legally call that cheese, it's plastic!!! They charged me $0.89 for mine. 2) The service was slow, I ate here 4 days in a row and only once was the service comparable to other Paneras I have eaten at all over the country. 3) The kiosk for some reason did not remember my customization for my order like every other kiosk across the country, not sure why. read more

Yes, you do have to bus your own dishes when done, but that's not bad. This was my first time trying this place, so I didn't know what to expect. The best way to describe Panera is basic. Like pumpkin spice and Ugg boots level basic. I've never eaten anything so expensive and tasteless in my life. I went in here yesterday with my husband because we were at Gateway to see a movie. We wanted a quick bite to eat before going to the movie, as we knew it was a long one. Customer service was fine. Employee was nice, although service was nothing to write home about. Again, very basic. We ordered two chicken sandwiches, my husband picking the spicy one and I picked the regular one. Plus two cups of soup, the broccoli cheddar and chicken noodle. All four items come with a "side" included. The choices for sides were nothing short of spectacular. It was between potato chips and an apple, and I had to pick four times. My chicken sandwich was dry, no sauce, no nothing. It was bread, chicken, a little frisée lettuce, and croutons. Bread wasn't even toasted. My husband had the better sandwich because his at least had sauce on it to make it spicy. Although there was nothing spicy about it. The broccoli cheddar soup wasn't bad. Probably the best part of the entire thing. The chicken noodle soup was just a salt bomb. It was saltier (by far) than the potato chips. All in all, it was edible, but so is McDonalds and even frozen tv dinners if you're hungry. But it certainly wasn't worth the $40 for two sandwiches and two cups of soup. The restaurant felt pretty spacious, but the carpet is weird. I have a thing against carpet in restaurants because it just screams unsanitary to me. Would I return? Absolutely not. If I want a sandwich, I'll walk the extra 50 yards over to Firehouse Subs and get something that actually tastes good. I highly recommend you save yourself the trouble and do the same. read more

Took it back and cook behind counter said yep that's a hair and the lady cooking said "not mine, my hairs too long" then acted like she was doing me a favor to make another. I had the best salad and soup today in Springfield. A cup of their wonderful creamy tomato soup and a half Gala Apple Salad. I've always loved their soup, and this salad was a Winner. Mixed greens, dried Gala apples, onion, tomato, chicken and a couple things I'm forgetting I'm sure! I got extra dressing, a slice of their house baguette, and a slice for the soup, too. I was in the mood for an Italian Sub. Boy did I come to the right place. it was called the hot Italian and everything in the sandwich got along great. Well, I tried Panera Bread again to give them another chance. This time I decided to go in for a later lunch instead of Breakfast. Wait times did not improve, and service was sub-par. There was a small handful of people wanting to order, and eventually, as I finally decided what to get, approached the cashier counter. Since then, all the kiosks weren't working (literally just the 1 - and last time it was super slow & took forever to accept payment). I stated what I wanted. However, I forgot that usually, you get a baguette as a side unless marked differently. The cashier didn't ask what side I wanted but did ask if I wanted to buy a half-priced cookie. I mentioned about a chocolate croissant warmed up. She said, "well, we have a microwave right there; you could warm it up yourself" and proceeded to tell me as she pointed to the microwave hidden behind me. I asked if Panera Bread does offer to toast/warm pastries up. However, she commented about the microwave again. Honestly, I did not like this. I am a consumer; I don't know how to microwave a croissant. I wanted it in the toaster... not my pastry to be **nuked**. As for my drink, during my last visit, I got a 20oz with no issue as I asked for a large. However this time, there were issues with the sizing as the employee told me, that iced coffee drinks were only one size.. I later asked a manager if this was true, and they said not; it could be a 20oz option, not 16oz. I did not push further to receive a larger drink since my experience was already sour. The sandwiches themselves tasted good, I got my usual pick of steak and horseradish, and my friend had the chipotle chicken melt. The steak sandwich was on a ciabatta, horseradish mayo, and pickled red onion with cheese. As for the chipotle chicken melt, had roasted chicken, avocado slices (they were small..), and a wonderful chipotle sauce on a piece of focaccia bread. I could go on about how the dining lobby practically had messes under most of their booths and tables. I didn't feel very clean or sanitary sitting inside seeing this. Especially considering that I arrived to eat around late lunch. Along with how it has been a week since I contacted Panera Bread through their website about my experience and disappointment, with no follow-up on their part.
