This is strictly based on the people who pack up to go orders, and deal with catering. I have placed three orders in the last three weeks. They have gotten something wrong EVERY SINGLE TIME. The first no biggie, just left things on three of the sandwiches that we asked them not to (mayo, tomatoes, avocado for the person with allergies). The second, an entire sandwich (which they did deliver, and brought a pastry ring as an apology). Part of the issue this time is that I called literally for two hours trying to get someone on the line, and never actually did. I ended up finding out by calling a family member who works in Fairfield that I could order online if it was a certain amount, which I did. BTW, I still had to call three times before getting through to get the missing sandwich resolved. The third, today. picked up a large catering order, and paid separately for some addtional items. They got the catering order right, but completely left off one of the items paid for, which wasn't discovered until we got back. The person who ordered it just asked for the money back, and the store manager was happy to do so, but I just don't understand why they can't seem to get larger (anything other than two items) correct. For a store that advertises catering, they can't seem to get it right. I don't understand why it's so hard. I've complained to corporate already, and they have yet to get back to me, but they've lost my recommendation. You would think with the new Boudin across the street, they'd realize that they are not the only game in town, and that they should step up their game, but nope. Hasn't happened yet. I will now steer whatever meetings that involve catering towards Boudin, instead of the weekly call for Panera, simply because I'm tired of the incorrect orders. It doesn't matter how many times you try to make it right when you keep getting it wrong in the first place. read more

I find myself in many Panera's due to work and I have to say that this one is my favorite. I have been to this Panera at least a dozen times and have never had a bad experience. They are friendly and I love that they bring the food directly to your table. This is the only Panera that I have been to that does this. They think outside the box to make sure their customers know they matter. This time I ordered the Casablanca Shrimp Salad (new on the menu). It was really delicious. During the pandemic it is difficult to find a safe restaurant at which to eat. This Panera Bread fit the bill perfectly. There were 10, 15, at most 20 people in the establishment. Our first adventure was learning where and how to order in this new environment. A young lady behind the register was extremely helpful; especially, when I could not figure out how to login to the APP on my phone. The order process was slowed by our trying to decide what to eat; but, eventually, we placed our order. I moved down to the pickup counter while the rest of our party found a couple of tables outside on the patio. Inside everyone was keeping a respectful social distance. The staff preparing the food wore masks and gloves. I was a little surprised to see that the iced tea was self service; but, there was a sign requesting that a new cup be used for refills. Panera Bread is a chain/franchise. It is a fast-casual type of a joint. Now that we have that out of the way on to the review. Why I wrote the above is because there are certain benchmarks to abide to based on the classification. For fast casual chain it is obviously food quality and speed of service/delivery. I have mixed feelings about both. The food here is healthier than most of your other fast-casual options and offers more choices. However, it is not especially tasty. I tried most of the salads on the menu and they were 'meeh' at best. Edible but nothing more. The soups are OK with black bean tasting the best out the ones I tried. It is however very similar to what you can get in carton package at Trader Joe's....Makes me wonder if the soups are really hand-made?? Hmmm. Everything else is also mediocre, including the service that can take up to 20 minutes during busy times of the day. Not sure if that cuts it in this category. If I am watching my calories or want a lighter meal, Panera is one of the few options in Vacaville to go to. The food quality is decent and the service is a-ok. The food was very good (we shared the Mediterranean veggie and tuna sandwiches with broccoli cheddar soup) and the service was excellent, better than any other Panera we have visited. Like all Panera locations, their prices should be about 20% lower. We would probably eat there more often if that was true. They almost lost a star because of that. read more

Dine in Review on 1/15/08: Went to Panera Bread with some co-workers for lunch. Food was the same consistency as past experience. I had an order of black bean soup with 1/2 order of Frontega Chicken sandwich. The sandwich was very tasty. I was afraid that the chipotle mayo would overpower the sandwich since I'm not a fan of mayo. However, the cheese was the stronger flavor. Highly recommended sandwich. The soup was also pretty tasty. Seating was hard to find. It took us a few minutes to find a table, and a couple more minutes to receive our entree. I wish the side options on the menu would be healthier besides bread and an apple. We don't need more carbs in the meal. We have enough from the sandwiches and the bread bowl. The salad was not impressive since the mixed greens was basically lettuce. I thought I would get organic leaves. The candied pecans were the best part of the salad. The chicken did not have a strong citrus herb flavor. The Portobello and Mozzarella hot panini was all right. The items were on a rosemary and onoin focaccia. I liked the mushroom, but the sandwich didn't stand out in flavor. The catering is pretty good. We had a variety of sandwiches, salad, a French or whole grain baguette, potato chips, and chips. I tried the classic salad and the Mediterranean Veggie sandwich. The veggies came on a tomato basil bread and stuffed with peppeers, feta cheese, cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, onoins, and cilantro hummus. This sandwich was MUCH better than the panini. The feta cheese and hummus created a creaminess to the sandwich. I would definitely eat this sandwich again. The prices are expensive for the amount of food. I'll only go back to Panera Bread if I'm craving to try another SIgnature Sandwich. read more

They used to have the best scones .. No more! Last month I bought 4 blueberry and 2 orange. The orange I froze and haven't eaten. I froze 2 of the blueberry and kept 2 out for desert. They were so dry and tasteless, my husband wouldn't eat his. I must confess, I did eat mine. But I ended up throwing my husband's away and pulled the 2 in the freezer out and into the garbage they went. Good scones, IMO, have a biscuit quality outside and are tender, moist inside. I'm a big fan of owners because the fresh bread is hard to beat! Their Mediterranean veggie sandwich is one of my favorites. The sauce is light and delicious. There is a wide variety of pastries and so many bagels. I like stopping by on Tuesday morning as they have a special on a dozen of bagels. Their chai latte is really flavorful without the spice being overwhelming. I've been to countless locations but this one is now the one I go to most often. Overall I have no issues with the location as the venue is clean and the lines are short (thanks to the self service kiosks). My only concern is suboptimal customer service on a few occasions by waiters who clearly didn't really care. For example, the breakfast sandwich I ordered during my last trip there was not made correctly. In fact it wasn't what I actually ordered. I asked the waitress if maybe I had ordered the wrong thing as it didn't look like the picture on the menu. She said, " well a picture is worth 1000 words." Then she just walked away. It was not even busy that day! I tried to take a bite anyway but it was not worth eating as it was even partially burned. No offense to McDonald's but it looked like one of their sandwiches. After tasting it and realizing that's truly not worth eating, I found a manager and asked her to let me get something else instead. I told her what type of sandwich I wanted and she apologized for the mistake. A few minutes later I had the correct sandwich, which the original waitress brought to me with a smirk on her face. This is the second I have come into here and have had issues. First my food order was lost. That was made up and at least the manager was kind and apologized. On 8-13 I went in and ordered a pick 2 at 11:38. At 12:05 I walked up to the counter. It was mobbed in here. People were piled up waiting. Nobody new what was going on but they were still taking orders. I has number 63 and there were still lower numbers. Then people after me were getting there food. After 45 minutes I asked for a refund. I did receive my refund barely apology and not even very sincere. I left waisting a hour here with nothing to show for it. Terrible place and service. Great service! I really enjoyed using the tablet to order our food. Everything came out quickly and perfect. Meanwhile, the manager was walking around checking in with every table, and the runners were cleaning and bringing out food. The only "problem" (which was not the fault of the staff) was that someone had left wet paper towels all around the sink in the bathroom. I went to Panera's Vacaville to get a cookie and the cost was $2.50 and they wanted me to pay $3.00 because I was paying cash. What They are too lazy to put coins in their tills !!??? What the heck !!! This is not fair.... So I paid by credit card instead. I'm not a big fan of this location anyways. Yes it's convenient but the Weirdo Manager Gary is Awfully Rude and the gm is not much better. They were extremely rude to my friend. The manager Gary went into a rage when she arrived close to closing to get a coffee for the road. He screamed at her so badly and scared her that she had to call the police to report it. As she used to go in there almost every day for her coffee as she was a member of the coffee club. She immediately called corporate to report the incident!!! As punishment for reporting it, she was banned from the establishment. What a shame as she's such a nice lady and feeds the homeless and does alot of charity work in town. Panera is now allowing eating in. There were two people without masks. At least that I saw. They were not eating. The sandwiches are good, but do NOT order the vegetable soup. A CUP was $6+. !! Absolutely disgusting food. The worst food ever from any restaurant in history. Their 'new' breakfast sandwich menu has been reduced from many options to two. Either you get egg and cheese, or egg sausage and cheese. Croissant or brioche. You can't even get wheat bread. They cook eggs on a cookie sheet, then cut them into tiny squares the size and thickness of a slice of Americana cheese. You maybe get 1/8th of an egg in each sandwich. Tasteless gross cheese. Hard stale bun. Pastries and 'danish' are now all cooked in muffin tins. So a cherry cheese danish is now a muffin made of croissant dough, with a dollop of cheese/frosting on top and 3 cherries. Does that sound like a danish to you? It's a wad of cooked dough with a little garnish. Prices are extreme now for a total lack of variety, quantity, nutrition, or taste. Curbside pickup doesn't work. It takes staff 20 minutes to walk outside with your cold food. You'll waste a lot of money if you visit Vacaville Panera. I'd say that goes for all Panera locations because their food prep now revolves around some sort of rationing. You'll get 1/3rd if a breakfast, but they'll charge you more $ than ever before, for only 2 breakfast sandwich options. Note: when I visited (the last time I ever will in my life) their espresso machine was broken. So I waited another 5 minutes to get some cash back for my latte. They couldn't or wouldn't credit my credit card, for who knows what reason maybe their credit card machine was broken too. A total 25 minute wait for 'curbside pickup.' read more

I came in with my puppy because it was so hot there was no way I would be leaving her in the car. Staff were friendly and helpful, even before I ordered. They brought a bowl of water with ice cubes and my puppy was made to feel comfortable. I ordered a plain grilled chicken breast for my puppy, I ordered the summer berry salad and my girlfriend had a half sandwich and salad. it was a little more expensive than I remembered but well worth the service and the meal. There is no place to sit inside, and there is only limited available seating outside where it's cold and starting to rain. People are standing waiting for their to go orders, packed in like sardines.
