DISCRIMINATION AT PANERA BREAD! Today, Sunday, January 2, 2022, I arrived at Panera Bread Cafe # 601186 located at 4300 Merchant Plaza, Woodbridge, Virginia 22192 at approximately 7:35 am. Upon my entry into the Cafe, I noted that no sale clerks were present at any of the checkout registers. I proceeded to the Cafe's kiosk and ordered three (3) cinnamon crunch bagels and a large coffee. My purchase totaled $7.33. I paid for my purchase via electronic payment in full. The kiosk screen instructed me to take a cup for me coffee and proceed to the food service pick-up area to wait for my order. I retrieved a large cup for my coffee which were stacked directly behind the kiosk and proceeded to the self-serve coffee station and prepared my coffee. Coffee in hand I walked to the food service pick-up area and sat on the bench and waited for the rest of my order. The food prep clerk called out order for 3 cinnamon crunch bagels. I stood and proceeded to the counter and verified that it was my order. I asked for extra butter and the food prep clerk said butter was already in the bag. I reached for extra butter out of the butter container atop the counter. A second clerk (later identified as May according to her name tag) asked me a question. I could not hear what she was asking so, I asked her to repeat the question. Given she was wearing a mask, I could not quite understand May so, I asked her to repeat the question again. May's question was, "are you a member of the coffee subscription program?" My response, "O, no, thank you." I proceeded to take my order but May said, well you didn't pay for the coffee." Stunned and confused I said, "What? What are you talking about?" May pointed to the printout taped to my order and said, "the coffee purchase is not on there." I paused for a moment to do the calculations in my head and responded, "yes I did look at the total on the printout." May said, yes, and you didn't pay for the coffee." I asked May, how much are the bagels and how much is the coffee." May said the bagels are around $1.40 something. I said okay now add a large coffee and that is my total. May flicked her hand at me and said, "just go!" May walked off. I was shocked at what had just transpired. I could not believe that your employee, May, had just accused me of stealing coffee without taking any steps to verify such. I asked for a refund. May had walked off to the side and exited through a side door. The other employees just stood and looked at me. I asked to speak to a manager once I realized May had dismissed the situation. The the other employees said, she is the manager. I said, tell her I would like a refund. One of the employees pointed her finger in the direction of the registers indicating that May was at the register assisting another customer. May clearly walked through the kitchen and reentered the Cafe front through another door. Still in shock, I decided to start recording the issue via LIVE streaming to Facebook as I walked to the checkout line, stood in line to wait my turn, after fully paying for my order only to be accused of STEALING COFFEE, to request a refund. When it was my turn to be serviced by May, she said refund? I said yes. May processed the refund for 3 bagels and a coffee and placed my receipt on the counter. May did not apologize. I exited the Cafe. Upon close review while still on the premises of the Cafe, I realized that May did not refund me the correct amount. She refunded me for 3 bagels and a medium coffee. I paid for a large. I returned to the Cafe to request that my receipt be corrected. The LIVE videos capture a glimpse of what transpired. Now, I am appalled to put it mildly at this outright show of DISCRIMINATION. There are several points throughout this whole ordeal in which your representative, May, failed me, a paying customer. She stereotyped me, she insulted me, she embarrassed me and she victimized me. I am left to ask, if I was a middle-aged white woman, would May have questioned my coffee purchase without verifying as such? I think it is safe to say that she would not have. May clearly believes that she can say and do whatever she chooses to do while working in your establishment. May never took responsibility for her actions. May never at any point verified my coffee purchase. May anchored down in her belief that I stole a cup of coffee and was glad to have me take a refund and get out of the Cafe! May had a second opportunity to take responsibility for her actions but May opted not too. Upon my return to get the refund corrected, May once again never took responsibility. May never apologized. May continued to walk away holding firm to her belief that I STOLE a cup of coffee! This is DISCRIMINATION. May should be terminated immediately. I hope that one one else has to be demoralized by May, an employee of your brand, Panera Bread. I expect someone from Panera Bread Corporate office to contact me immediately to discuss this matter. read more

I ordered soups and sandwiches for lunch today, the scheduled delivery is 12:20-12:35pm... it is now 1:40pm and I am still waiting for my food. I called the number hoping to talk to someone.... maybe someone forgot my order? Called their phone multiple times, no answer. The app updated saying someone is on his way to deliver food but that was like 20 min ago. Anyway, really disappointing. I hope that soup arrives warm at least ... Update: got a call apologizing for the delay because they were backed up, Panera delivered our food at 1:59pm, and the Mac and cheese is missing, I should've ordered food somewhere else... 2nd update: I called Panera again to ask for my refund for missing item, still no answer. read more

I pick up here almost every week. I order ahead of time the day before so that in the morning I can just pick up, pay and go. The people there have been very nice to me. They already know my orders before I even say a word. There are time where they didn't have my order in on time when I got there, even after I emailed ahead of time my order. At most I had to wait about 20mins to get my food :( However they have also made it up to me by giving me free drinks and meals. One time my entire order was free with an extra pastry(big) on the house for my late order. The place is pretty good-I am speaking as a regular customer though. This place is terrible... the last few times I've come in here were bad but when I go to other locations, things are always better so I keep giving them a shot, hoping they will improve. This time was the worst... had to get my oatmeal made twice (who messes up oatmeal?) and the coffee was atrocious. The second batch of coffee, which tasted like an old boot had been worn by a butt for three or so weeks, was provided by the Philippine looking manager who seemed nervous as she was bringing it out... Have been coming here for my lunch break a year+ since I started working across the street. Started off well but lately every time I order online, my order is completely messed up. I ordered a chicken chipotle sandwich and the ONLY THING the sandwich had cheese and avocado on it. I did customize the order by removing the peppers on it but they can't handle customizing an order at all! I also ordered a grilled cheese with tomato soup and they didn't put in a tomato soup but a chicken noodle soup! When I called to speak to a manager, they told me they can't issue a refund and the general manager was too busy to speak to me. If you enjoy wasting your lunch breaks and being told that you need to tear apart your sandwich before you leave the store, feel free to come here! So i really liked the idea of the southwest salad. The first time i got it i picked it up on my way to work. When i got to work it way the skimpest salad i had ever seen esp for the price and they added things i asked them to omit and left off things i asked them to add. The funniest part was i asked for kale to be added and i literally counted 3 crumbs of kale. So i called them telling the I wasnt happy and they offered a replacement salad, drink, and pastry. That time it was good so i was like okay, just a bad night. I get the salad again a few days ago and they always leave out something but this time it was a nice full salad. For starters the first issue i had is that everything on it is cold. I love and expect warm chicken to be on my salad that i'm not getting out of the fridge, cold quinoa is not good to me, and they added way too much corn as if i asked for extra. I ate like a quarter of it and on my next bite i feel something stringy on the sides of my mouth so i spit it out to find A LONGGGGG BLACK HAIR. Ew ew ew ew ew. My stomach was hurting for the rest of the day. I inspected it and found another piece of hair. How disgusting is that?! I ordered through the app but got the wrong order. I called the first day to try and get the correct order, a lady answered and I said "I got the wrong order" she said "let me get the driver" and then put me on hold for 15 minutes. I hung up, called back and said the same thing and this time I got put on hold for 20 minutes. Hung up, did it again and no one answered this time. Second day I call again and would you believe it? Same thing! I asked for a manager and she put me on hold for another 20 minutes until I had to hang up again, called back and no one answered. Third day calling and no ones answering my call. Usually I get the wrong order I just let it go but this time I was annoyed and guess what they don't really care about customer service so don't waste your time if you got the wrong order just deal with it. read more

I am very disappointed at how things and service were handled at this Panera's. I came here as a last resort, since the snow of the century had taken its local business victims in Lake Ridge and the surrounding area. When I walked in, it was clear to see that this was EVERYONE'S resort to eat at! Almost every table was taken and the line was long. I ordered my food, avoiding the kiosk the employees so wanted everyone to use, but no one was at. The employees were nothing special and lacked in hospitality. When my group got a table, it stood out to us that the trash cans and dishes bin were OVERFLOWING with garbage and dishes. Not to mention the fact that our table was on the verge of being repulsive to eat at. The food came out by then and it was cold. The chicken noodle soup I got tasted a lot like Campbell's, CANNED! My 99 cent pastry, which was a brownie, had cooking paper in it. All the drinks were on the verge of being watery, both soda and teas. While we were eating, two employees walked by the trash can six or more separate times LOOKING at the trash can but doing NOTHING about it. By the time we were about to leave a person at my table pointed out to me that an old man was carrying a GUN INSIDE THE PANERA'S! It was in PLAIN SIGHT! Time to make an exit! I don't really stand on the side of supporting or not supporting the use or carrying of firearms, but there are products made to hold guns and keep them out of sight. Not to mention, I don't know the mental state of the old man. He could be crazy and rob the store and go on a shoutout because of this Panera's bad service and food. Or maybe he's mentally stable and I am just too worried! Luckily, I finish my meal and our group made a quick exit! Apparently this isn't the first time there was a firearms experience in this Panera's. (If you read Sam Z's review, you'll get a better more in depth idea.) If you are not turned off by this place now I don't know what would turn you off of going! Not all Panera's are bad and I would recommend going to the Panera's in Dumfries or in Manassas on Liberia Ave, until this Panera's gets their act together. My son and I have dinner here about once a month. The food is usually pretty good. Our visit there tonight though was disappointing. The cheese on my sandwich was hard on the edges, like the cheese sat out too long uncovered. After we ate, my 12 year old went up to the counter to order a pastry, and the cashier was rude to him, asking if he had money. After going to this location daily for all of the years it has been opened, my love for it has changed as it has gone down hill in my opinion. While I have never liked the coffee, nor its being served out of what equates to a big thermos (like Wawa and 7-11 do) rather than hot from the urn or pot (like Dunkin Donuts and Old Country Buffet do), in the last four months, this place has switched from being a comfortable setting to eat and drink while doing computer work, meeting others and enjoying food and drink with them or simply reading (like the Café on the TV Show - Friends), to a more urban, grab-and-go location. Most recently, they have taken out three 4-person booths that were always in great demand and replaced them with a wall and a bench seat to allow people waiting for their to-go orders to sit. They also added a grab-and-go shelf area with cubby holes for the grab-and-go customers who are in a rush and pre-order and pay by phone, so they can benefit from the grab-and-go concept. I am okay with the grab-and-go concept, but very opposed to the taking away of valuable booth space (with electric plugs to use a computer). People waiting for their orders can stand as they always have. Besides, standing burns more calories and has other health benefits (for the bones, etc.) than sitting. In today's world or obesity and the associated diseases, we need to have more ways to burn calories without much effort, not less. The food here is fair, excluding the breakfast egg choices (which I am not a fan of). Now, when I want to sit, relax, do computer work, while eating and drinking, I find the remaining two booths occupied and I must go elsewhere. Oh well, Panera loses my cash and my budget benefits. Panera was built upon the dine in, relaxing, casual, yuppie ("Friends-like") business model, yet it is changing to a grab-and-go style. I like that they attempt outdoor seating with panels to shield sun and traffic from shopping centers strip mall. Parking is in front and can get cramped but I don't mind walking. The tables were cleared which is a bonus! But here's the deal... Fast lane kiosks are in and offer a free cookie when u order. This location is not up to Panera standards. The food is prepared without care or quality. Sandwiches and salads are sloppily prepared and the soup usually comes out only luke warm. On my most recent visit, on top of having luke warm soup and the worst "Adult" grilled cheese sandwich ever... I went up to get a drink and decided to get some Akai Berry Iced Tea. It was out. I asked a worker who was coming walking by if they had any Iced Tea made, pointing to the Berry Iced Tea dispenser. He tested the main Ice Tea and said, "It looks full to me..." I'm not quite sure why Panera's are so popular. They have a really nice, unique menu, but the locations rarely execute it properly and the prices are way too high for the portions they provide. Awful! Placed $60 online order -- for fricking soup!!! -- and an order of mac & cheese for one of my kids. I ordered a steak and arugula sandwich for $9.89 that was neither steak nor arugula. Instead it is sliced roast beef with regular type of lettuce. When I noticed something was wrong I opened up the sandwich and found a bit of rotten lettuce to accompany the regular lettuce. So in summary, steak is roast beef, arugula means regular lettuce with a smattering of rotting lettuce for good measure. I was only going to give one star but the manager did have the guys in the back re-make the sandwich. When the manager brought it to them, one said "I didn't make that one." So it was $24 for me and my wife to have a sandwich and a salad with two drinks. I opted to give a dollar tip at the point of sale, which I found strange. It made the total bill over $25. I thought if I give $1 tip BEFORE I get my food it would be done right...but NO. My wife had the Asian chicken salad which I found had absolutely no flavor. Just oil on lettuce, chicken and wonton crispies. This used to be a beautifully flavored salad. Another thing is that the drinks in the lemonade section did not taste right according to my wife. This is my local Panera. The food is the same as every Panera, so the review is based on the location, cleanliness and service. The location is at the corner of a strip mall (Merchant's Plaza off the Prince William Parkway in Lake Ridge). Being a corner unit, the business has windows on two sides so the dining area has a great amount of sunlight during the daytime hours. There is also outside seating available in front of the place, if you want to gawk at the people coming out of the ABC store next store. LOL They have really comfortable "couch-like" chairs and furniture: long tables, short tables, round seating, etc. - much like what people are used to from Panera. The bathrooms are kept REALLY clean, which is much appreciated for semi-fast food establishment. Every time I have gone to this restaurant there is always a line, but the service is usually very quick and the staff has always been really courteous. The place is great for students and people who need a sit-down establishment with wi-fi capability. read more

Umm best customer service ever. Makayla greeted us and had the most patient and friendly attitude while she took our order. I was visiting because they messed up my order (wasn't a huge deal...added mayo when I didn't want Mayo--plus, they were very apologetic and offered me a free pick 2). The sign on the door says that they are closing at 10pm. It's 9:02 and some.customers just left as I was walking in. I head to the register and I am told to use the kiosk to ordet because the cash register is closed. I spend a few minutes at the kiosk and the manager yells over to me that they are closed. They could have closed the door. They could have put up a sign with the new closing hrs. Or they could have made an exception for me and my two kids who just biked 10 miles to order food here. They did not. Disappointing service but maybe its for the better. They always manage to get my order wrong anyway. We biked over to Chipotle instead where they always seem to go above and beyond. Crap! This place has gone down hill every time I go it gets worse. Their "rapid delivery" is a joke. If they run out of something they just let you show up and wait... and wait, until you ask and then they mention it. but here's a free pastry. Cool thanks...
