I have been to Pangea's twice. Once for my mother's 80th birthday and the 2nd for Mother's Day. Both times were memorable and amazing! Love the staff, Suzanne and her team are incredible. I had never met her before my first encounter at my Mom's 80th bday, but she treated me like a friend and recognized us on our return visit for Mother's Day. The tea is amazing! Our first visit was for a tea party and we rented one of her rooms. They really did up the place, the tea sandwiches were amazing! The tea options were out of this world. We all had fun trying all the different teas. The men at the party had a great time as well. It's not just for the ladies. Desert was blueberry buckle and chocolate mousse. Both insanely delicious. My mother had such a wonderful time there. I took her back for Mother's Day and they did not disappoint. Same friendly service, Suzanne came out to say hello. Friendly as ever. We had the Mother's Day brunch which was a bowl of very fresh fruit. A strawberry and blueberry crepe, which was the most delicious crepe I have ever had, the crepe itself melted in your mouth. 2nd course was eggs Benedict, perfectly poached eggs, perfect amount of hollandaise sauce. Usually restaurants put too much sauce, the ham stood out, the flavor of everything together was out of this world. The tea was delicious and d the final course was blueberry buckle. Which we took to go because we were so stuffed, but I've had it here before and it's soooo delicious! I can't wait to break into it for my evening sweet treat! Definitely recommend, Watkins Glen needed a place like this. My mother and I are adding it to our regular rotation. The decor is eclectic, it was a bank and a law office before a restaurant, and I love how they have decorated it. Keeping some of the old world charm of its history. read more

Had an absolutely delicious brunch today at Pangea. My partner and I were passing thought watkins glen coming down from lake Ontario and needed a quick, but classy, late breakfast. We stopped by Pangea and we're SO happy we did. We ordered 2 mimosas, the eggs with biscuits and sausage gravy, the blueberry buckle and potato side dish.... everything was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS, the service was great and I loved the decor! There were fresh flowers on every table and they made it smell amazing in there... The waitress gave us the buckle for free bc it was my partner birthday. This place is AWESOME. It's pricey, but you absolutely get what you pay for and it is worth it. Delicious tea selection. Outstanding food (and clearly a lot of pride is taken in making it and presenting it). The service is top-notch. Several rooms to eat in, each with a different theme (or at least a different "feel"), and all are beautiful. My wife has an allergy and they were super attentive and were able to make delicious foods she could enjoy. We've been there for lunch twice and it wasn't crowded either time, which we just don't understand. The place should be packed! Highly recommended. read more

Really want to give a better review. Went for afternoon tea. Been to many tea rooms. The best thing was the drinks. Enjoyed the info and history of the teas. Food was average/poor. Some items were not edible as were not fully cooked. Looked forward to the scone but it was bland and heavy. Clotted cream is more like butter than consistency of clotted cream. Consider serving with homemade whipped cream instead. There are excellent bakers in town, perhaps can collaborate and order desserts from them to serve at the restaurant. No toilet paper in bathroom. Can tell there's been effort and heart put into the place. Would be great to see the place continue but needs lots of improvement. read more

My friends and I enjoyed brunch and tea here recently. What a lovely place! The restaurant used to be a very old bank so the architecture is beautiful and unusual. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We will go again when we are nearby. read more

I stopped in for a late lunch with my daughter while passing through town. I was warmly greeted by Mitchell and later had a nice conversation with the owner and her husband. My daughter and I shared some Bao buns which were delish! We were so happy with the buns we decided to try the blueberry buckle. It was sooo goood! We order another to share. When a new restaurant becomes instantly popular, you know they are doing something right. It truly is a tea house, with two sides of a piece of paper covered with tea varieties, tea paraphernalia for sale in the entry. They call themselves a global tea house because many of their menu items originated in different countries, Korea, Britain, Japan, France, and of course the US. The restaurant is in an old bank, so the building is quite well apportioned. You feel as if a bank officer might come over to ask you if you need help with your account. read more

Oh my goodness, there is so much to love at this quaint restaurant! There are a few tables outside the doors, on sidewalk, for good people watching while you have your tea. Inside, the decor is adorable. Right as we entered, there were a couple chairs upholstered in brilliant turquoise! How stunning! To the right is the counter with all their tea canisters, to the left and in front was beautiful glassware storage and a small kitchen/prep area. This restaurant is larger than I expected. It has several dining rooms. One that is mainly booth seating and another that was all tables with chairs. I think there may be others, but these were the ones I saw today. White tablecloths! Nice quality silverware (always a plus, IMHO). Fresh flowers in a vase on each table. Beautiful arrangements of tea cups and teapots abounds. My friend and I were there for afternoon tea. We both ordered the low tea which came with small sandwiches, scones, desert and a pot of tea each. They also have a high tea and a pot of tea. There is a good selection of teas, including rooibos, a few herbals, green, black, and 3 chai teas. My friend got the rooibos while I got the green with rose scent. Both were very nice. It was nice and quite, even though there were several other table that had customers at them. We didn't feel rushed at all. Their menu includes breakfast and dinner items as well as sandwiches, teas, a salad and soup. Really a nicely rounded menu. Service was prompt, even though our server had only a few week's experience. He was learning and we were kind with him, but I did request a different type of tea cup (yes, I'm probably a bit of a tea snob!), sweetener and a new teaspoon for dessert. The sandwiches and scones were very good. Desert was outstanding. My friend had a blueberry cobbler that was nice & moist and generously sized. I had a parfait that was a vanilla cream with fruit. Yummy! Neighboring diners had bubble tea. They were served in double walled glasses. I thought that was pretty neat. I spoke with the owner as she was placing fresh flowers on the tables. She mentioned that they also have coffee. I don't think she has a big broad selection of coffees, like she has teas, but I'd expect that her coffee would also be very tasty. Sorry, I was so taken by this restaurant that I neglected taking pictures of it! I highly recommend trying the Pangean tea house. It was a wonderful experience. read more

Oh my Goodness. This was amazing. Stopped by today as part of a 37th Wedding Anniversary outing to Watkins Glen. Just beautiful!! The fancy tea settings and china are pretty special by themselves, as is the fun choice of three different dining rooms and styles. But the FOOD . . . my wife used to be a line cook in a fancy restaurant, and she said it was the best eggs benedict she has EVER had, (mmmm real hollandaise!). Service was really great, lovely waitress/host was engaging and attentive - they are very pleasant personable people. I plan to return with some family & young nieces for a fancy tea soon - I can't wait to come back. I have never seen such a complete tea selection, and since you can't have it all at once . . . I guess we will just have to keep coming back! read more

As my wife and I walked around Watkins Glen before taking to the trails to see the waterfalls, we decided to stop in Pangea Global Teahouse for lunch. The menu hanging outside the door indicated that it was more than a teahouse and that, in fact, they served all three meals each day. Since my wife is a lover of tea, in we went. At the entrance, a woman behind a counter was preparing a pot of tea for other guests, and so she asked a young fellow to show us to a table. He did so, saying, "Someone will be with you soon, I promise." It was a somewhat odd thing to say, but whatever. We sat and sat, and no one came. We were the only customers sitting, totally alone, in a side room that looked somewhat like a small British parlor. In another room sat two elderly ladies. After around 20 minutes, the same guy who had seated us returned to ask if wanted tea, to which I responded that I was thinking more about lunch than tea. He told us, yet again, that "Someone will be with you shortly, I promise." Again, odd. Five minutes later, the woman who had been serving tea came along and asked if we knew what we wanted, to which my wife responded that we would like to see a menu first. The woman was somewhat taken aback and apologized, saying that this was the other server's first day. Armed with menus in hand, I decided on eggs benedict, and my wife opted for a chicken salad sandwich and a pot of tea. The food came out ten minutes or so later, but no tea. When the woman returned to ask if she could bring the check, I pointed out that we had not received the tea we had ordered. She apologized and said that she was the server, cook, cashier, the whole business really. We decided to forgo the tea and asked for a coffee instead. It was dreadful coffee that was so hot it nearly took the roof of my mouth off. So we promptly paid and left, heading across the street where I could get a proper espresso. Would I go, and would I recommend this place? No. Granted, the guy who checked in on us a couple of times was on his first day, but even a new server on the first day knows to give customers a menu. The overpriced food is what we could have gotten at a diner for less and of the same quality. And for a teahouse to forget that patrons had ordered tea... The owner needs to get more people in. Hopefully they've done so by the time the post-Memorial Day crowds set in. read more

The grape chicken salad is listed as (chicken breast) and when my sister asked if the curried chicken salad was chicken breast as well, she was told "yes". My husband are from out of town & I stopped for lunch. The place was eclectic and quirky. The service was friendly and prompt - as it should have been since there was only a couple of people there dining. The food was absolutely awful, I believe the worst meal we have ever eaten at a restaurant. I got the daily special of Hawiaain Fish Tacos & my husband ordered the Chicken Curry Bowl. 2 very small tacos for $17... A corn tortilla that tasted like plastic, bone dry & unflavorful fish, with just a spoonful of average, bland Cole slaw and a couple of small chunks of mango and pineapple. No sauce, no rice... just two terrible tacos on a plate. My husband's dish at $15 was basically a small bowl of bland curry flavored paste over overcooked rice. The 4 small pieces of chicken that were in the dish, were dry & tough to chew and the entire experience a huge disappointment, not to mention an absolute waste of $40, (incl tip). I'm hoping their "teahouse" experience is where it's at for this place, but their food leaves A LOT to be desired. read more

Went at lunchtime on a HOT Friday afternoon. We should have left the minute we walked in when we noticed how warm it was in the front but we thought it would be cooler in one of the side rooms and stayed. Wrong - the air conditioner was not working; however, no one mentioned that to us. We placed our order and it did take some time to be served. The sandwich filling was about 1/8" thick served on plain white bread that must have been old because the crust was falling off When I picked it up to eat. The fruit served with it wasn't too bad. The meat on the cheesesteak looked like it was nice and thick, only to find the meat was at both ends and nothing in the middle. Two flies were bothering us the entire time. The furnishings are "neat"; however, the meal was not worth the $35+. I would suggest to the owners the next time the air is not working that you close the shop. And, if you're serving sandwiches, give at least a 1/2" thick filling on a decent roll. And, do something about those annoying flies! read more
