I had Jury Duty and walked over to check this place out and I really enjoyed it. I wanted to make the best out of my Jury Duty so I spent a lot of time trying to find where I would go for lunch. Panorama cafe has a wonderful view of the skyline, however don't get me wrong the food is very much reminds me of a cafeteria style cafe but I didn't mind that at all. If you're looking for really authentic food this is not the place for you, however if you want to escape life for an hour and enjoy a magnificent view for lunch while on Jury Duty it is worth it! Just get there right away because lunch time is busy at Panorama because everyone goes there. read more

It's a nice cafeteria located at the top floor of the court house. If you sit outside you can either have views of mountains or DT LA. It's nothing fancy but it was conveniently located and nicely priced. The man who worked the Mexican food counter on 4/21 is such a gem! He was soooo sweet and took so much pride in his cooking! Which I might add was tasty! There was also a younger guy that was cleaning up and he was just as friendly. I couldn't help but smile every time he spoke to my friend and I. Very practical pit stop if you've been called for Jury Duty (or work in LA's legal system). I ate a delicious pre-packaged chinese chicken salad and they even have a selection of Pressed Juices. Impressive. There's a grilled section, an Indian food section, pre-packed sushi, etc., something for everyone. The building is a nightmare, and no signage for the Cafe out front since its a Superior Court structure and the elevators reaching the ninth floor are opposite the entrance on Hill St. Lots of lawyer types carting their brief in roller totes and sorry Jury service types like me. read more

after reading several yelp reviews, i decided to walk over here for lunch while on jury duty. little did i know, i was just trekking to a cafeteria in another courthouse! granted, i'm sure this place had a much better selection than the courthouse i was assigned to. this place had a large variety, there were sections for burritos/bowls, burgers, a grab n go section, and i believe their special of the day was a white fish with mango salsa. yum! i wasn't all that hungry so i went to the grab n go section and got a white bean salad box and a cup of watermelon. i paid and found a spot outside to sit. it was well over 90 degrees that day but theres shade and a light breeze. i still had time to kill after i finished eating so i took a walk around the roof - DO THIS. its probably the biggest plus of eating here. the view is amazing. you can take some pretty awesome shots of the city and the walt disney concert hall. its about a 10 minute walk from the clara shortridge foltz courthouse and is located on the 9th floor. i'd definitely give it a try if you're here on jury duty and need a quick bite. read more

My uncertainty about finding a good place to eat lunch in downtown L.A. was erased on my first day of serving on jury duty. The court building cafeteria was a simple choice for the first day. It was so good, that I never went anywhere else. The rooftop cafeteria has a daily menu selection of reasonably priced and freshly prepared food items, with something to suit most tastes. I was particularly impressed with how flavorful & satisfying the changing main entree was for each day. The main chef is also busy helping on the serving line at lunchtime. He is very accommodating & will help "stylize" the available fresh ingredients served you to adjust for your palate. Ask him questions about the ingredients or the spices & he'll give you good advice. Every day that I tried the main entree, I was not disappointed. On days I wasn't up for the entree, I enjoyed my "go-to" choice of the teriyaki chicken, plated over perfectly steamed chunked vegetables & a little rice. Every day I was content after a delicious lunch that didn't empty my wallet. The cafe manager was also always present, keeping his patrons happy and exercising responsibility over the good reputation of the "domain" of his dining space. I finished-off my meals with a daily stroll around the roof-top, outdoor deck. Beautiful "photo-op" views from atop this hub in the city, with Disney Hall, the Music Center, & Grand Park to view "just over the edge". If you're like me, and have a slight "issue" with high places, the wall around the perimeter is high enough and solid. to help me feel secure enough to enjoy taking-in the panoramic views across this busy city. Hey, you don't have to be a lawyer or serving on jury duty to enjoy this place. Just go thru security at your entry point and ask for the best way to get to the cafeteria on the 9th floor. (note: On the Hill Street side the building isn't as tall, so the elevators and escalators on the east end [Hill Street end] only go up as far as the 6th floor.) read more

This an above average, cafeteria style place on the top floor of the Stanley Mosk courthouse building. There are quite a few options including made-to-order sandwiches. Its a little step above the cafeteria in the Criminal Courts building down the street, even though I think they are operated by the same group. The cashiers and staff are very friendly--almost too friendly, in a weird kind of way. If you're serving jury duty, or being haled into court (ha), this is a quick, convenient option. read more

This place rocks! What a hidden gem in DTLA. If your not in the courthouse, you have to go through the metal detector and go to the top floor of the court. The food is really yummy and inexpensive. Stunning views and a wide selection of food, ranging from standard office cafeteria grill fare to an on-site sushi chef. There were some pretty nice-looking pre-made salads on display, too. I enjoyed the Indian Chicken Curry special, served with rice and a salad for only $6.95! Best deal in this part of downtown, and very much worth going through the courthouse security screening. Note: I think security personnel can pretty much tell who's there for the cafeteria, and they are very easygoing to deal with. In addition, staff throughout the cafeteria help you find the meal you seek from the moment you enter. Surprising good food for a courthouse cafeteria! I was on jury duty and decided that I did not want to leave the courthouse and yelp reviews suggested that I check it out. Portions were large, which I liked and they were very courteous. There was an extremely long line but the cashiers apologized about 4 times for the wait. I was quite impressed by the service and it was nice of them to apologize for the wait. I would definitely recommend checking this place out for lunch if you happen to be in the courthouse for any reason. PS the view from the outside dining area is spectacular! read more

Such a hidden gem in the courthouse.It's located at the very top of the courthouse so keep on riding the escalator all the way up to the top until you can't go any further. The server is so nice and sweet especially for grumpy morning people. Get the croissant breakfast sandwich. Tres delish. Then grab it to eat it outside while viewing the lovely sky scrapers of DTLA. read more

Only gripe is the lack of seating. Too many four seaters and not enough one or two's. Lobster roll was surprisingly good. Turkey on croissant was very fresh. The south patio has great views but can be a scorcher; north side is relaxing. read more

Great view. If you enter the building, you might feel like you don't belong there, but just continue down the hall to the elevators. It was a little pricey for some of the sides but in general fine. I went here this Morning for breakfast after doing some business at the la court, I never knew this resturant was there. Walked in and everyone was so friendly I looked at the menu and they had a dish called moon eggs, which is eggs cooked in the bread I ordered moon eggs on rye with 2 sausage links, they cooked it fresh and I picked it up at the counter, I also told the cashier I found you on Yelp and got an ice tea for free. My total bill was 8.00 and the food was really yummy, I sat on the patio and the view was incredible, my only suggestion would be to buy some new patio furniture the tables and chairs were sparse and really dated. I will be back here again I really thought it was a great nostalgic kind of place read more

I love the Panorama Cafe. I work at the court so I go there often. Service is great and so is the food. I just hosted a training this weekend and asked the Panorama Cafe to cater the event. Awesome! The fresh baked blueberry scones were to die for. Lunch was delicious and all of my attendees raved about the linguine. As always the staff is tremendously friendly and the view can't be beat. read more

I don't normally write reviews, but I have to let people know the bad experience I had in this place. There are new hires that started working here about 1 or 2 months now and I notice they were not friendly and cannot even smile to customers. When paying the cashier, I feel like I am doing them a favor, cannot even smile or say thank you to customers, really bad customer service. Also, they sweep and mop the floor near the customer and under the table while customers are eating which is against health regulations. I can see they are not restaurant certified because that's the first thing they teach you when getting restaurant certification, not to sweep or mop floors while customers are eating. When ordering and paying your food, you have to get in numerous lines and there are no organizations. The cashiers cannot even tell the customer that there is a line and everyone are just trying to pay and when they say next customers are just staring at each other wondering who is next. The cashiers just do not care and I can tell they have no good customer relation experience. If you are in this building I would suggest to get your food at the snack bars or go to the Hall of Admin (next building) cafeteria for better service. read more
