Was having a hard where to eat lunch today and was kind of craving Mexican food so I decided to try a place that I've seen many people go in and out of but I've never been to. Papa Chevo's. They have about 10 booths in this place and they have room for more but it seems like most of their business is from to go orders. I opted for a carne Asada burrito, which is my favorite Mexican food item. I have a couple opinions. I liked that the Carne Asada meat didn't have any gristle in it. Which tends to be the norm for a lot of taco shops. The part that I'm bummed about is it just had hardly any flavor. It was rather bland. No seasonings on the meat. I loaded on the hot sauce and that's really the only taste coming out of it. Even the tortilla just had no flavor. Really bummed because I wanted this to be a great place. Maybe I'll try again in the future and try something else. Maybe a breakfast burrito!! I will say the staff was very friendly and it was a very clean and comfortable place. read more

I have been looking for taco shop for quite some time that incorporate the following: good customer service, cleanliness, quality of food, affordability and quantity. This eatery has superseded my expectations. I have visited this around 10 times. On my first visit, I ordered carne asada fries, and it was a amazing. The french fries were cooked to perfection and the steak was unbelievably incredible ;also the pico and other toppings put me on cloud nine. On several of my other visits to this establishment, I ordered roll tacos which was also great with plenty of meat in each bite. And the guacamole was authentic not the watered down which added a delightful and mouth-watering experience. Ordered a chile relleno burrito and didn't mind paying 75 cents extra for beans since it only came with rice and lettuce and pico de gallo. So let's showcase the Good the bad and the ugly. They never disappoint! It's nice to just grab and go but today, sat and listened to the music blaring out of the kitchen and a guy back there singing at the top of his lungs having a blast! I was always taught that a happy kitchen is usually a delicious one. The carne asada fries were amazing and the breakfast burritos are always on point. It's great that they don't look at you funny when you ask for rice and beans INSIDE the burrito. And the burritos aren't stuffed with pico de gallo which turns out to be almost all onions like the bertos places. They have 3 locations and I've been to all 3. Every time a great experience. Maybe it's an AZ thing or for flavor and I got the bottom of the pot, but biting into chipped bones is no beuno. BTW, to-go orders take a very long time. I understand that the nachos on the menu are not really Mexican, but totopos are Mexican. Nachos were invented in 1940 in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico by Ignacio Amaya, aka "Nacho". You are not going to school me on Mexican food, try again. The burritos here are tasty and filling with decent portion size, and these burritos will not disappoint. What is the issue with the negative Nancy/Norm reviews? All I can tell you is that the Mexican palate and the Anglo palate are two separate palates. Most authentic Mexican foods are spicier and have more seasonings that what many Anglos can handle. Before you chase me down, beat me up, and tie me to a tree for what I just said. Allow me to share a little background, my Father is Anglo from Northern Louisiana, my mother is half Anglo, half Choctaw native. I worked overseas for over 20 years where I was able to experiment with different spices and seasonings, and I was quick to notice when I returned to the good old USA that fast food generally lacks seasoning. The palates are different, you cannot compare authentic Mexican food, with breakfast burritos from your corner fast food place. The palates differ. Papa Chevo's! It's sad to see you change. The last three times have been disappointing. I tried to chalk it up as a bad day in the kitchen. The flavor and size of the burritos have changed. Great spot for some affordable Mexican food. Papa Chevo's has been here for a number of years and has other locations in AZ and Cali. I know the kids across the street at Hamilton High School love it here. They have a variety of burritos, tacos, tortas and combination plates to choose from. The Carne Asada Fries are pretty popular here. I come here for their bomb breakfast burritos. They are around $6 and I like to drown them with red and green sauce. I am a Los/Papa Chevas fanatic! I am not one to ever leave bad reviews, but I just moved and this location is all I have now. The previous location I was going to, saw me 3-4 times a week, knew me by name, and probably got a few hundred in tips from me. So when effort is made I show appreciation and acknowledge. I was so disappointed with this papa chevas and the only reason I'm even writing this is in hopes they can fix the issues so I can keep coming back and not have to drive 20 minutes for Los and give someone else my money. The lady at the register was very sweet and kind, but then when my burrito was done it sat on the cold metal counter for 5 minutes before she called it out and was standing right next to it. Then when I get the burrito, the tortilla is soft and room temp, doesn't look like it even touched the cook top, the cheese was cold and unmelted, there was huge chunks of onion, and a lot of fat/gristle in the meat. I couldn't even finish it. Then when I was kind enough still to bring the sauces back from my table to them, the guy who was at the front now just took the sauces and didn't say a word. No thank you, no have a nice day, nothing. I'm really not the type to leave reviews, I think this is my 3rd ever review in my life, but I'm hoping they can fix their issues so I can keep giving them my money and not be so disappointed read more
