The Hawaiian pizza was really good but I ordered delivery and it took 2 hours. I recommend pick up if you can!

4.5 Papa Gio's 1965 Augusta Hwy, Lexington, SC is "da bomb"! Pizza is tasty, the crust is the right combination of crispy and chewy. I am still licking my chops! Yummy ! Called to place a carry out order and the girl who answered the phone seemed inexperienced so I didn't let her short answers bother me. When I told her I wanted a chicken bacon ranch pizza she kept asking me what I needed and I could hear a man talking to her on the side, she finally asks do you want the sandwich or wrap? I was confused and made sure I called the correct place so I asked her if I had called the pizza place, she says yes and hands me to the man. He proceeds to tell me they do not make that pizza, I explain I just ordered that same pizza about 3 weeks ago with no problem so was this a new rule? He says yes it's new, you can't order a whole pizza we only sell it by the slice. I asked if he had a reason for it and he continues to tell me he has no reason other than the owners said so. I try to order a pepperoni pizza and a slice of the chicken bacon ranch and am told we don't have any slices right now so you can't. Pretty crappy service and if you do not allow someone to customize a pizza you probably shouldn't be in the pizza business anymore. Will not be spending my money with them anymore. read more

It's hard to find decent Italian food in the South... I found it when I ate at Papa Gio's... that is until yesterday... the Garlic knots are my favorite... the best I ever had... until yesterday... they were dry doughy and covered in parmesan cheese... next to no garlic... the Chicken alarm had no flavor... I'm hoping it was just an off day... do t like the fact they advertise free delivery but they never have a driver... Absolutely horrible service. The people who work here all act clueless. The service is horrible. I have gone here several times and I have never gotten a correct order. I never post negative comments about a business. As I am a small business owner and have been in customer service since I was 15. This has happened to us twice now. Tonight will be the last. We are all about supporting small businesses. We have ordered through the Slice app around 5 times now. The past two times, we arrived when we were told to. Our pizza has been cold. Not warm, we are talking cold, cold. We had to come home and turn on the oven to heat it. Not only that, no one speaks to you. We are easy to please people and tip on to go orders. My aunt and I decided to try Papa Gio's because we've heard that it was amazing so we decided to go. That was probably the worst decision we made. The service was awful. We both decided to get water and we ended up getting soft drinks because the water tasted dirty. I felt like I was drinking mud. Love the Papa Gios in Flight Deck but the Cherokee Lakes location has failed us twice. Penne alla Vodka is my go to dish but the sauce was all wrong in taste and color; more like Alfredo and very pale instead of the orange robust sauce I'm accustomed to and very little if any prosciutto. I asked the waitress if this was the right dish and she took it back to check saying it didn't look right to her. They said it was correct dish so I asked for some red gravy on the side to mix in. Last night we ordered pizza to go and again terribly disappointed. Extremely soggy undercooked dough and little sauce and cheese on top. Consistency seems to be an issue. Not sure there will be a third chance. Will just drive extra miles to go to Flight Deck location. read more

I gave 1 star because zero wasn't an option. First, I ordered Alfredo and paid 5 bucks extra for shrimp and there was none to be found. Second, the combination pasta is over cooked and looks as if someone poured saw dust over the top of it, it was inedible. The bread in the bag also doubles as a hammer. No joke if I was planning a home improvement project and needed something to hammer nails with I'd have gone to Lowes instead. No silverware in the bag, I guess when you show up to the restaurant it's bring your own silverware as well. Upon calling to rectify the situation, I was told they don't do credits but I could bring it up there. If I wanted to bring the food back up there you screwed up I wouldn't have used door dash to deliver. Literally the first and last time I will ever order from this establishment again. 56 bucks is a lot of money for shit food and even shittier customer service! I spent $50 on delivery and it was not what I ordered. When I called the restaurant, Tanya the manager was rude and curt. I have had problems in the past with their delivery and her, but I thought I would give it another try. Apparently they still have terrible management!!! Last night I made a order to be delivered but the delivery was going to take to long so I called and said that I would come pick it up and thank God I did. When I got there it was a wait which was fine because it allowed me to see what I did, and to say the least I was totally disgusted and will NEVER eat there again and I hope you won't either. There was a lady there by the name of Tonya yes I asked for her name before I left to put it in this review who was making the pizza's, what made me notice her was she walked from behind the counter and went out the side door and yes I watched her as she lite up her cigarette and took several puffs before she walked back in. I watched her very close at this time to see where she washed and her hands and yes you guessed it SHE DID NOT!! I kept my eye on her because I didn't want her to touch my food but what I saw next was the absolute worst. 1st she made several pizza with her bare hands no gloves and after every pizza she wiped her hands on her sweatshirt yes no apron and continue to make other pizza's but when I saw her take out a pita bread I'm assuming to start making a flatbread pizza she spread the sauce on then the cheese and most have realized it was wrong she got a bowl and scrapped the sauce and cheese in it and went to the back and rinsed it off with water came back put different topping on the same now wet pita bread... Absolutely disgusting!!!!! I WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN AND I SUGGEST NO ONE DOES. I guess your wondering why did I take my food it was because she didn't touch mine but when I got home I realized that must be the norm around there and just because she didn't touch my food that doesn't mean anything because she could have had a hand in the prepping and the other employees didn't say anything to her so they probably do the same I don't know just a assumption but my food went in the trash a total waste of $30. Even though we are in a pandemic they all had their mask under their nose and 1 young man that worked there had his practically under his chin... The moral of the story is I know we love to eat out and no restaurant is perfect please pray over your food and always I mean always read the reviews it can save you a lot of money and horrible experience's. Came home from work tonight and there was a menu from Papa Gio's in my mailbox. We were going to get pizza tonight from another place, but after seeing this menu we decided to try it out. Funny thing is, we didn't order pizza! We got the chicken cacciatore, garlic knots, chicken Parmesan, buffalo chicken Kaiser, and a cannoli. Let me tell you... it was divine. Best Italian I have had in a while. The cannoli was the icing on the cake. Amazing! We will definitely be back for more and to try the pizza! Highly recommend! read more

The only reason this place gets a 2 star is because our server Xavier was amazing! I've heard how amazing this place is so we decided to go. I got not even a subpar salad. The plate was the size of an appetizer plate and had three olives a slice of cucumber cut in half and a tomato cut in half. No cheese, no croutons....regular lettuce. So my daughter wanted to share dinner and an appetizer so we got jalapeno peppers and tortellini. The jalapeno peppers were the exact same as if you bought them from the frozen food section of walmart. The tortellini isn't anything special to rave about just subpar and wasnt alot for an Italian restaurant. My youngest daughter had the kids spaghetti and it was reasonable for the price. The tortellini was 13 dollars and the jalapeno poppers were 8 dollars and weren't worth the money. I was so disappointed and went be back. I didn't complain because the server was so sweet and none of it was his fault just the poor quality of the restaurant. read more

We have been here many times. As a former New Yorker we miss having good pizza and in the past this establishment made a decent pizza. It wasn't New York pizza, but it was pretty close. The other night my family went out for dinner and as usual we got the Chicken Parm pizza. When the pizza came out we were very disappointed. The crust was not right. A New York pizza has a thin flexible crust. This pizza had a thick, spongy and dried out crust. You could not fold the slice. We all had one piece because we were starving but we went home hungry. We told the waiter when he brought us the check that we thought the pizza was terrible. We would've told him sooner except he was nowhere to be found. Our drinks were empty for most of the meal. We are understanding that restaurants have off nights and we also told the waiter that we knew it wasn't his fault as he's not the one who cooked it. At the same time, we felt that the restaurant needed to know that we weren't happy. The waiter was very nice about it and said he would go get the manager so that we could tell her. The manager came over and we asked her if they had changed the recipe for the crust. From the look on her face, It was obvious that she had heard this before and it was also obvious that she wasn't concerned. She said yeah he probably didn't stretch the dough enough and she was sorry. Then she walked away. We felt the apology was insincere. As she walked away, my husband turned to me and said well that's the last time we come here. Had she handled it differently it probably wouldn't have been a big deal and we would have just chalked it up to a bad night and come back in the future, but there's a right and wrong way to handle an unhappy customer and this wasn't the right way. The next day, I happened to mention to a neighbor how terrible the pizza was and how disappointed we were because it was going to be hard to find good pizza around here. She said to me, "oh you must've gone when the guy was working, you have to go when the girl is making the pizzas otherwise they're terrible." I thought it was pretty funny how matter-of-factly she told me this as if this was common knowledge and why did I not know this. Lol. Since I'm not privy to the employee work schedule I really don't know how I could accomplish this. Ultimately, it's easier for me to not go back. Like I said it's a shame and disappointing. There used to be another Papa Gio's on Old Chapin Road but that one changed names/owners and the food is awful. Like I said it's a shame and disappointing. This place has gotten so full of it's self. They were serving fresh good food initially, but just like most places now the service sucks, and the food is mediocre. The lady manager gets drunk with beer her entire shift. The bartender is required to have her a beer sitting on the counter even hour or so. Probably why service and food is crappy now. They have teenagers answering the phone that can't take a correct order. I have given them a chance four (4) Fridays in a row for family game night and have been let down each time. This Friday I went inside to make the order to see if that helped. NOPE still screwed up order. Get some class and honor your guarantee of good food.
