I placed an online order and was afraid it didn't go through as 1.5 hours had passed and the tracker had not updated. I called to check my order status and who I'm assuming was the manager, answered the phone. She let me know they were running behind but promptly checked my order and gave me an update, she was extremely kind and patient. They were very busy, but the customer service was outstanding. I liked the accurate and on time order, the great carryout price, the good number of toppings, the delicious original crust and the cheerful, professional service. My large (14") single topping carryout pizza ($8) was promised in 14-24 minutes on an early Friday evening and ready in 12. The app allowed me to easily track the progress of my order. I feel like the reviews of this Papa Johns location do not line up with my experiences. I frequent this location fairly often. The staff is always nice and friendly. I can see they are very busy during peak times, but I have never experienced any delays. The pizza is always hot and looks and tastes to my expectations of what I picture Papa Johns to be. One thing I will note is that I always place order ahead for pickup. I do not do delivery as this is only a 5 minute drive for me, so I cannot comment there. read more

I had the pizza from here multiple times over the months. Being a vegetarian options are limited but the food is always great. My favourite is their garlic sauce. I had their veggie pizza "Garden Fresh Pizza" I had it with normal sauce and the Alfredo as well, both versions are great. I had brownie and their chocolate cookies. Terrible pizza. The crust, instead of being thin and crispy, was like soggy cardboard. Toppings were scarce. Hardly any sauce. The cherry on top was the price of a single-serve soda...$3. Really? Their competitors charge $3 for a 2-litre bottle. When I spoke to the manager on the phone, he was completely uncaring about my concerns. After informing him he has lost my business forever, he wished me a nice evening in a very smarmy tone. Shame on him! Shame on Papa Johns. I foresee this company shuttering within a short time, with this attitude. Food was good, but customer service was not. Manager from the 151st Overland Park location (I think his name was Steve), did nothing but make a situation worse. I ordered over $100 worth of pizza from the wrong location on Shawnee mission (yes, my fault), EXCEPT, it took that location over 2.5 hours to say NOTHING. I called about an hour after putting the order in asking if they could provide us with some plates, they said they had none, then I asked for napkins and they said they will look for some. At that moment, they could have easily explained it was out of the delivery area and gone from there. I called wondering where my pizza was after 2.5 hours and they finally told me I was out of their delivery area. Yall should not have 1. accepted the order or 2. call me to let me know it's not coming. The order then got cancelled after everything was made, we said we would come get it and they said if we order again they will give us 50% off. Assuming the staff already ate it, it's cold etc. So now I call the Middle man that takes orders and sends it to locations, I explain what happened and I could barely understand what he was trying to say and that helped nothing so they transferred me to 151, I AGAIN explain the situation to the lady who picked up the phone and the manager about everything above, how I have the order number and you can look it up on my account etc. I then get told as a manager he's not allowed to give discounts, while raising his voice at me on the phone. Even though he sees everything that has happened in the last now 3 hours on my account he proceeds to tell me there's nothing he can do and if I want to make an order it has to be online, remind you, they take call in orders as well, but it had to be online for myself. At this point I gave up, I re ordered online, used a promo code and finally got pizza over 4 hours later. Absolutely ridiculous. I've been going to papa John's for years and this situation and lack of respect/ understanding makes me not want to ever again. read more

With 3 competing pizza places at the same intersection this was my family's favorite for years until the other week. I ordered online and it said it would be ready in 30 min. I show up and wait in a line for 30 min. I finally reach the front of the line and after 1 hour and 15 min since I placed the order they said it would be 30 more min before it would be ready, they had not started it yet. I could forgive 1 day of poor communication and being understaffed however, waiting in line that long gave me an eyeful of all the health violations. Pizza boxes stacked on the floor with the inside open to all the dirt the swirled as the wind blew. All the pizzas touched by unclean hands. Pizzas prepared on top of dirty dishes. I'm always up to give a place a second chance but this papa johns failed horribly. First time I picked up and they forgot the seasoning packets and forgot one of the toppings. Second time was for delivery. It took over an hour and the pizza was cut so badly that half of it was smaller than a personal pizza and the other was the size of my face. Not to mention it was cold, and they gave us one seasoning packet for a large which was wedged underneath the crust which is unsanitary. To add to all this which isn't a big deal, but the driver didn't even have a pen. I didn't even eat the pizza it looked so un appetizing. And I hate using the microwave on food I just paid for. I live close to this location so it's super convenient for me to run in and pickup dinner. The staff is always extremely kind, especially the gentleman who is always working the front counter. He's extremely polite and personable, and he's great at his job. Had a very minor issue tonight which resulted in one of our pizzas needing to be remade and he definitely made up for it, comping us the messed up pizza and a 2-liter for the wait (around 10 mins). There's also always coupon codes going on so you can get a great deal. This store competes with a Pizza Hut and Domino's within walking distance, but this location will always have our business. read more

Ordered a pizza online for carry out and made a mistake, so you'd think, okay, I'll just call them and ask to change it politely. Well, called them and after listening through the stupid stuff before you can talk to someone, I was immediately put on hold with no option of asking if I could say anything. And was on hold for 5 minutes straight. So I hung up figuring they forgot about my call and called back, same exact thing, not even half a second to speak before put on hold. Showed up 20 minutes to a huge line, no pizza until an HOUR after I had placed my order. Couldn't get the manager to talk to me at the store, so I called the store. I would give it zero stars if I could. Yesterday 2/7/14 I made the mistake of ordering one of the new cheeseburger pizzas from this outfit. What a mistake. This was one of the worst pizzas I have ever tried to eat. It went into the dumpster. I feel sorry for the rodents and other scavengers that may try to know on that thing. This will be the last time I order ANYTHING from Papa Johns. If you want a good cheeseburger pizza go with Minsky's or Sarpinos. When it comes to pizza, I tend to prefer Papa John's over any of the chains. This location, however, is the worst ever. I decided one weekday to order online and pick up a pizza in the afternoon after running a couple of errands. When I got to the location there were two sets of customers ahead of me waiting in line. We waited. And waited. And waited. This went on for at least 15-20 minutes. At no time did either of the two guys working there even acknowledge there were customers waiting. No, "Sorry - we got a huge order. Be right with you." Nothing. Even worse - I have actual video of pizzas falling off the oven conveyor belt and onto the floor. Repeatedly. Neither guy picked up the pizza - they WALKED AROUND IT. I called the company from my car to alert them that there was a massive problem at this location. The manager (who wasn't there) didn't bother to call me back. No offers for free coupons, nothing. I finally left, without pizza but with the knowledge that this is possibly the worst run pizza joint in town. read more
