This used to be Admiral Spa but the name was changed a few years ago. This was my first visit but from the time I walk through the door to the time I left I felt very welcomed. The place is definitely diving but worth a visit. From their servers to the cooks to the patrons in the restaurant, you get a down-home feeling that's very comforting. Reminds me of being back in Texas in my own hometown. A great little neighborhood diner. I will definitely be back. The service is super fast!

The first time I came, it was a rainy weekday and this time it was a sunny weekend, so I was expecting an even larger crowd; and my prediction was correct. The line was just out the door but because of their awesome staff, the line was moving very quickly. While we waited in line, we could watch them making pastries through the glass, a couple feet in front of us. I admired that level of transparency. When we were third in line, the kindest lady asked us whether we'd be eating in or taking out and she took down our name to help us find a table when it came time. She did the same for the rest of the people in line. She also gave us some recommendations, including the cinnamon bun - apparently they're so good kids cry when they sell out. I didn't intend to order anything with my drink, but I couldn't get the cinnamon bun out of my head so I ordered it along with my iced spiced chai latte. The hen (I think it's their logo) on the aprons of the employees are super cute. We did secure a table. The tables are close together to maximize the number of people who can sit down but I didn't mind. I love their art all around, mostly of birds which I am obsessed with. I love that they have a lot of natural lighting coming through their tall windows. I also like the navy blue and white theme they have going on. The chai latte was perfect. It was the right color (a dark tan), meaning the ratio of tea and milk was good and I could taste a lot of the spices. The cinnamon bun blew my expectations away. The second my teeth made. contact with the icing, it was a magical feeling. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it tasted like, but the closest I got was dulce de leche. It is truly unlike any other cinnamon bun I have ever had. The dough is soft and there is a good amount of cinnamon. It's also $4 which is not bad. I had a bite of their canelé, which apparently requires a lot of work to make. It was very moist, with a great caramelized finish. I am super excited to try their new weekend dinner menu, but also more of their all day menu items.

It feels like her place in the best way -- warm, proud, hands-on. Pastries are legit. Super buttery, flaky enough to make a mess, clearly baked that morning. No sad, sitting-around-all-day vibes. Ordered the breakfast sandwich and that tomato jam needs to be illegal. Sweet, savory, slightly tangy -- it completely makes the sandwich. I kept trying to figure out how to recreate it at home. Not happening. Crispy chicken sandwich was properly seasoned and not dried out (why is that so hard for some places?). Fries were solid too -- crispy, not limp. And the kale salad with roasted chickpeas and chicken made me feel like I had my life together. Fresh, simple, and actually satisfying. It's one of those places you stumble into while traveling and then immediately start googling whether you can justify going back the next day.

I remembered the building from when it was Cal's and had no idea Carmine's had moved into the space. I'm glad we finally decided to stop in because this place was an absolute home run. The dining room is on the smaller side and pretty simple, but that's part of its charm. It's comfortable, welcoming, and puts the focus exactly where it belongs, on the food. We arrived around 5:00 p.m. and there was only one other table occupied, but by the time we finished dinner the restaurant had filled up. After eating there, it's easy to understand why. My wife and I are admittedly pizza snobs. At our home in Phoenix we even have an outdoor wood-fired pizza oven, so we're probably a little more critical than the average customer. Naturally, when we saw pizza on the menu we had to order one. We went with the Carmine Pizza, and it completely exceeded our expectations. The crust had great texture, the toppings were balanced, and everything worked together without trying too hard. I'd go as far as saying it's one of the best pizzas I've had in North Providence. I also ordered the Italian Wedding Soup, something I hadn't had in years, and it instantly reminded me why I used to love it. It was flavorful, comforting, and exactly what I was hoping for. For my entrée I ordered the veal parmigiana. I always think it's a good benchmark for an Italian-American restaurant because it sounds simple, but you'd be surprised how many places manage to overcook the veal or drown everything in mediocre sauce. Carmine's got it exactly right. The veal was tender, the breading stayed crisp under the sauce, and the gravy had that rich, homemade flavor that reminded me of family dinners growing up. The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente, just the way it should be. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert. The portions here are generous, and considering the quality of the food, I thought the prices were extremely reasonable. One of the nicest surprises of the evening was finding out our server was also the owner. He spent some time telling us about the restaurant, why he moved into this location, and checked on us throughout the meal without ever hovering. You could tell he genuinely cared that everyone was enjoying themselves, and that kind of hospitality is becoming harder to find. If you're visiting for the first time, just know there's no dedicated parking lot, so you'll need to park on the street. It wasn't an issue at all, and certainly not something that would keep us from coming back. In fact, there's no question we'll be back. It's not a matter of if, but when. They're close enough to our home in Lincoln that I can already see takeout becoming a regular thing after a long week when neither of us feels like cooking. This was one of those meals that exceeded every expectation. Great food, generous portions, fair prices, and an owner who clearly takes pride in what he's serving. Carmine's has earned every bit of this five-star review.

Great food and service! The soups are also very good. The parking is on street but not an issueread more

We got three to share for the table but honestly one would have been enough. Cocktails are strong and the bloody mary was perfectly spicy. Service can be a little slow at times but was friendly and helpful. The music can also get loud and voices echo when it's busy. So don't bring your noise sensitive friends. It's a little over a mile from Down City Providence and about the same distance from Federal Hill. It's located in a quiet neighborhood and has a small parking lot on the side of the restaurant and plenty of street parking. The restaurant has a local family feel to it; we liked the atmosphere. We were greeted by Armando, the owner and chef. He provided background information about his new restaurant and his experience as a chef in the Providence area. He also explained that the Porchetta was homemade and that he'd cook anything on the menu to our exact specifications. He'd create a dish, sandwich, combine different plates, etc. Our party of four ordered: * Porchetta & Eggs with Breakfast Potatoes $15 * French Toast with Strawberries and Whipped Cream $12 * Omelet with Breakfast Potatoes $10 * Chicken Cutlet Sandwich $16 I ordered the Porchetta & Eggs, and requested the eggs be prepared as an omelet. This dish was very tasty and nicely prepared. I also tried the fried chicken cutlet, which was hot, tasty and nicely executed. All plates were completely consumed, and all diners agreed the food was excellent. Our brunch was only $78 with tip, we thought the prices were very reasonable and the meal a great value. We look forward to our return!
