Food is fresh and classic. Home fries are my fav and super crispy. Cannot go wrong with this place. People come and go from the area. Its definitely a good breakfast spot.

straightforward diner/cafe with something for everybody. quite flexible to substitutions and accommodations. food is consistent and generous. have been here for brunch and something that is between lunch and dinner. servers are very kind and attentive. many orders are placed takeout so it's nice to sit in their quiet space with soft instrumental playing in the background. appreciate this as an option on thayer.

This is a cute little spot. Space is pretty small, but food is good quality and comes out quickly. We got a mixture of breakfast items as well as lunch items. The portions are pretty big. The sandwiches were huge and definitely stuffed so it was worth the money. You order your food at the counter and they bring it to you if you're choosing to dine in. Huge menu

Meeting Street Cafe is a great place for casual breakfast. I most recently got the chicken and waffles, which is served with strawberries and bananas for a fun twist. The chicken is also pounded flat before breading, which I thought was a nice touch. My boyfriend got a breakfast burrito, and I finished it for him, and I would say the burrito is okay, but maybe not where they shine brightest. You order at the counter and food gets brought to the table pretty quickly. The slightly off Thayer St. Location is bustling, and parking can be a little tricky. There's a spot of two in the shared parking lot in front for the cafe, but otherwise it's street parking.

Efficient and freshly made no-frills food with generous portions and reasonable prices. Breakfast all day is a nice feature that adds versatility to the menu. I had a turkey sandwich with cranberry on whole wheat bread; the turkey was a little on the salty side but definitely a big step up from normal deli meat, and being able to get a healthy side like tabbouleh instead of just piling on chops or fries was appreciated. Probably more of a student hangout than a formal dine-in destination, especially with BYOB, but gets the job done and there's something for everyone...

This is a classic spot on Thayer St. I love that Meeting St has stuck around through all of the iterations of this area. The service is friendly and efficient. The food is solid but the coffee leaves a bit to the imagination. I enjoyed my veggie and cheese omelet with potatoes. Overall, a solid option for a casual breakfast.

Great breakfast at the MS cafe. I'm a sucker when you say you have home made corned beef hash and they did not disappoint. It was great with chunks of green pepper and onions with definitely homemade corned beef. Tasty! Hard to mess up the eggs and they did not. The hash browns were surprisingly great as well. I don't usually expect much. They were crispy and flavorful not at all the mushy kind. The French toast was also really good. The place reminds me of the soup place on the Seinfeld show in the way you order. But the people were nice.

This place has a ton of options and based on our experience solid tasting sandwiches. I had the Thanksgiving because that what I had last time I was here 10 years ago and it was as good as I remembered it. It's literally thanksgiving dinner on bread. My wife had the Reuben and also enjoyed it. The potato salad had good flavor as well.

I am new to the Providence area and have been on a mission to find my new favorite breakfast place. I've ordered a pancake combo at a number of different places on the east side of Providence and this one was my least favorite and the most expensive at $15.95. The pancake was a little overdone but the eggs were very good. The bacon was a large helping but not my favorite. I certainly wouldn't stay away, but it just wasn't my favorite place I've been to but the people next to us ordered sandwiches that looked great. All in all I may come back to try a sandwich.

Went here for the first time pretty recently. Everything was very good. The bacon was a little greasy, so next time I will ask for crispy bacon. Very large portions, and not a bad deal. You order up at the counter, and then go sit down, so you don't really have service. But the guys behind the counter were great. good location and pretty decent food means I will be back again.

I usually order the French toast which is delicious! The omelette with home fries and toast is yummy! One time I ordered the blueberry pancakes which were DRY! Tonight I ordered a Caesar salad and shrimp scampi! Thank GOD I tasted the dressing before putting it on my salad! It was disgusting! Tell me why as I'm eating my salad I get the taste of raw onion (which I despise)! At a closer look I found several white onions and 1 piece of red onion in the salad. The shrimp scampi was ok it came with 6 shrimp, the shrimp was tough, I ate 2. This is the closest to an old fashioned diner in the Brown University neighborhood, has been at this location since 1984. Alcoholic beverages are not served, but they allow you BYOB and, conveniently, the Spiritus Fermenti liquor store is just a level down in the same building. My better half and I had dinner here yesterday before attending an art concert in the Brown campus, and today I took advantage of their breakfast offerings in the afternoon after completing my taxes. For dinner I had their sirloin steak plate and she had the tuna melt sandwich plate. As you can see in the photos, portions are very generous and almost impossible to finish! Menu is extensive and you can order online for pickup if desired. Ambiance is casual and family friendly. Service is very quick after you order with the cashier. Free street parking is available in spots along Thayer and Brooke streets, as well as metered street parking. I did enjoy their old fashioned appeal and their friendly service, and certainly we'll be back.

The first time I came, it was a rainy weekday and this time it was a sunny weekend, so I was expecting an even larger crowd; and my prediction was correct. The line was just out the door but because of their awesome staff, the line was moving very quickly. While we waited in line, we could watch them making pastries through the glass, a couple feet in front of us. I admired that level of transparency. When we were third in line, the kindest lady asked us whether we'd be eating in or taking out and she took down our name to help us find a table when it came time. She did the same for the rest of the people in line. She also gave us some recommendations, including the cinnamon bun - apparently they're so good kids cry when they sell out. I didn't intend to order anything with my drink, but I couldn't get the cinnamon bun out of my head so I ordered it along with my iced spiced chai latte. The hen (I think it's their logo) on the aprons of the employees are super cute. We did secure a table. The tables are close together to maximize the number of people who can sit down but I didn't mind. I love their art all around, mostly of birds which I am obsessed with. I love that they have a lot of natural lighting coming through their tall windows. I also like the navy blue and white theme they have going on. The chai latte was perfect. It was the right color (a dark tan), meaning the ratio of tea and milk was good and I could taste a lot of the spices. The cinnamon bun blew my expectations away. The second my teeth made. contact with the icing, it was a magical feeling. I couldn't quite put my finger on what it tasted like, but the closest I got was dulce de leche. It is truly unlike any other cinnamon bun I have ever had. The dough is soft and there is a good amount of cinnamon. It's also $4 which is not bad. I had a bite of their canelé, which apparently requires a lot of work to make. It was very moist, with a great caramelized finish. I am super excited to try their new weekend dinner menu, but also more of their all day menu items.

The frosting was incredible though. That stuff could go on anything. The cinnamon buns at Oak Bakeshop and Whole Foods are much better with those typical gooey layers inside. Also, it was not large in size, anyone can eat it in one sitting. The worker who took my order was very friendly and it is so nice/comfortable inside there.

Service was friendly & helpful, and the menu offers many delicious sounding options. Food is fast casual style (order at the counter, get a card - here all were west side street signs, not the usual numbered placards, food will be delivered to your table. I had the avocado shakshuka, my husband had the lox omelet (see the photo). Despite the large menu of fancy coffee options, we each had a basic iced. It was served in a glass, which was a nice touch. Self serve milk was at a station in the dining room area. Coffee was good, cold but I would have traded some coffee for a bit more ice to stay that way as I drank it slowly. Both of us were surprised when our meals were delivered: the plates were beaut! In particular his omelet was absolutely gorgeous! Now for the flavors: the omelet had a generous helping of perfect cooked eggs (not sitting in a pile of grease, as restaurant omelets frequently are). It was so fluffy that we both thought "that's way more than the advertised 3 eggs," and the lox was thickly layered whole slices nestled inside the fold. Most places chop the lox like vegetables, add it to the eggs, & make it like a veggie omelet - meh. This iteration was perfect; the lox tasted like smoked salty fish, losing none of that flavor to the omelet itself. The potatoes? Fabulous! Great spice mix, cooked until they were crispy. That was a tasty bit of marble rye toast too. My shakshuka was very good, but a bit less successful. The elements were all excellent; the avocado was actually guacamole since it was mashed & there were tomatoes and spices in the dish. The combination worked, except for the bread element. The dish as presented was really more of an avocado toast with shakshuka on top. It might have been more successful to add the avocado/guacamole as a unique base on the plate, with the tomato sauce and eggs on top with toast on the side (as is the way shakshuka is traditionally served) because halfway through the bread got really soggy & less appetizing. Still, the first few bites, while everything was still warm? So good!

For the RI food fights challenge, they were serving a CRU Cookie Blazer--an iced dirty chai latte with hazelnut and vanilla syrup, vanilla cold foam, Oreos, and CRU mocha sauce. It's not normally on their menu, but they'll happily make it if you ask! This one was definitely more of a sweet treat than the bold coffee flavor I usually gravitate toward, but if you love dessert-inspired coffee drinks, this is right up your alley. I'll definitely be back because that lobster avocado toast has my name written all over it.

There is a parking lot in the back, but I was not sure if it was for the café or apartments downstairs, so I just found street parking nearby. The inside gave me Spaniard vibes because of the cream, smooth walls and dark wooden accents. The following were the two things that instantly caught my attention when I walked in: They have merchandise on display for sale and it seems like high quality material and they had a vehicle made of croissants on display, maybe about 1.5 ft x 1 ft x 6 inches. They have their pastries on display which helps visualize what you're getting before buying it. They are unique and big in size. Their drink menu is good and includes a mix of teas (including matcha) and coffee. I went with the bee latte which was supposed to have honey, cardamom, and cayenne. I was interested in seeing how sweet, herbal/minty, and spicy would taste together. I was also [easily] self-convinced into getting a Za'atar croissant. After our order came out, we walked outside and sat at their patio area which has about 5-6 tables enough for two people each. The latte was good. I appreciated how it was not sweet, but I did think the cardamom was too subtle. It seemed like the cayenne was powder just sprinkled on top and I might've inhaled half of it on my first sip, so I was dying a bit. The Za'atar croissant was given to us in a brown paper box with the outside of their building drawn onto it. Since we asked for it toasted, it was warm and extra crispy/flaky on top. It was flat (about 1 inch thick) and about 6 inches in diameter, so big enough to share if you're just interested in a light snack. The inside of every swirl was packed with olive oil, middle eastern herbs, and lots of sesame seeds. Although it may take away from the traditional flavors and way of eating it, I wish it came with something to dip it into like whipped cream cheese or smashed olives. Nonetheless, it was delicious. On weekends, they have a laptop free policy which I think it good to allow for more people to enjoy, rather than people taking up tables for a while to do work.
