Well my experience at OV was a good, but interesting one. The waiter came over, followed by this lady. He was really nice and doing a fine job, but this lady, whom might have been an/the owner followed his every move. I guess he'd been working there for a while, but was new to taking orders. This same lady shouted demands at the kitchen, from the kitchen and whoever. The food was good. It's a nice breakfast place. We came in at around 8am on a Friday and it wasn't busy at all. I got an apple juice and it came in the biggest glass, which I highly appreciated. Most places serve juice in these tiny glasses, so it was a nice change. I got a simple breakfast. Pancakes, sausage, home fries and apple juice. It was all good. Prices were decent as well. The place we wanted to go to was closed, so this was a good alternative. There's some sketchy parking and this place is seriously tiny. Not sure what the peak hours are and haven't tried anything else but breakfast. Place closes at 3pm. Visited Ov's. My experience was good. Food was fresh. Old time name for this kind of breakfast type nook - "Greasy Spoon" . Though nothing we had was like that. It was a comfy experience. I had a very bad experience at this location with the owner. I ordered my food over the phone like I usually do and when I went in to pick it up the owner refused to take my credit card because it did not have a chip, so I explained to her they always take my card without the chip at this location, now she wants my license and took my card with an attitude and told me this would be the last time she will be taking my card with no chip, I could not believe how rude an owner will act towards a paying customer, I cancelled my order and went down to seaplane just 1 minute down the road and paid with my card with no chip without an issue and the food is much better and service I received at seaplane was awesome! Id driven past this place literally hundreds of times and never stopped but The GWA asked if i had tried it for breakfast and she raved soooo..one day after a beating at FF son Zvck and i stopped in. Talk about right up our alley. Traditional and non traditional breakfast and lunch fare done very well and for the right price. The staff is very friendly and attentive (ask about the paintings that adorn the walls) the food is solid with some interesting choices. The smothered grits? Wow. Since OV's opens at five, it's the perfect option for when you wake up too early and your usual place isn't open. Yes, it's tucked away on Allens Ave., but no matter. Make the five-minute drive. This no-fuss diner has amazing omelettes but my current obsession is the breakfast pot pie - two biscuits with gravy and corned beef hash, topped with two eggs and cheese. I think the people reviewing negatively have wayyyy too high of expectations from a small, family operated breakfast place. If you want food with "more flavor" or "prompt service", go downtown or IHOP where they'll give you shitty food in half the time. OV's is honestly my favorite breakfast place that I've been to in providence. Their pancakes, French toast, and waffles are simply awesome. I don't eat eggs so I have no opinion on them, but people I have gone with have said that their omelets and egg sandwiches are just as good! My boyfriend and me have came here twice for breakfast in the last two months. We love it here! Each time I have gotten the Eggs Benedict which has been very satisfying with the loaded up hash. It is perfect to mix all around with my hollandaise sauce and egg yolk. My boyfriend gets the 2 by 2 which comes with pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and toast. He loves it. Traveled to East Taunton to have my car worked on. They recommended that I go here to wait and enjoy some food. The waitress was very nice, however the restaurant was very outdated and dust was everywhere. I pulled my water bottle out of my backpack to get my charger and this angry man walked up to me and said "You can't have that water bottle in here, put it in your car.". I started to say that I didn't have a car with me because I was having it worked on and what I now believe was the owner said "I don't give a shit where you are from, you can't have that in here.". I let him know that I understand and what could I do but he clearly didn't want me there. My guess is because he didn't know me, as it seemed to be 3 regulars in there. I walked to a nearby gas station and they let me know that they are known for being rude. Once of the customers let me know he would have never suggested that I go there. Best sausage biscuit and gravy in New England! The gravy itself is delicious and there are pieces of ground sausage in the gravy not just flex. It comes with two sausage patties and a small grilled biscuit. You also get eggs and hashbrowns that I can never touch because I'm too full so I share it. It's always a good sign when it seems everyone there but you is a regular, with the servers knowing everyone's names and even their regular orders. I got the pot pie breakfast, which was basically scrambled eggs and corn beef hash over a biscuit drenched in gravy with home fries. It was so unbelievably delicious, and so was the blueberry muffin I ordered on the side - so soft and perfectly toasted with butter! Just tried this for the first time and it was great. Had a London Times omelet (ham, broccoli & cheddar), which is my usual go to omelet. I've come to find that a lot of breakfast joints don't have broccoli, which makes it hard to get what I want a lot. Needless to say it was nice that OV's not only had it but had a name for the omelet itself. Speaking of omelets, they have a page long list full of tasty sounding options (I am definitely going back to try the pulled pork omelet they have on the list btw). I also shared a grilled corn muffin (which I also order at a lot of places) that was very good and one of the better ones I've had recently. Service was quick and extremely friendly, kept our coffee cups nice and full and were helpful to bring over anything extra we needed. All that being said the main reason I gave this place a try (besides all the good yelp reviews of course) was it's convenient location right off I-95. I was heading north towards Providence and needed this to be a quicker stop so I wanted to avoid venturing to far off the highway. That benefit added with a decent amount of parking and the great quality of the food makes OV's a great breakfast spot. read more

OV's is one of 3 in a local family-owned chain that serves traditional American breakfast/lunch food on the cheap. This location is a diner car in a sort of desolate industrial nowhere-ville located within skipping distance of the recycling port and some strip clubs. When I visited, the cook/son of the owner was there, in a chatty mood with the funny servers and had all sorts of interesting things to talk about, including why there was a Johnson and Wales dressed teddy bear in a fancy frame on the wall (the cook's buddy framed his 3 J&W degrees. The teddy bear was proud of his tasty academic achievements). I digress, but you should know about the PANCAKES! Big, fluffy, yummy, fresh, non-greasy, inexpensive good old fashioned pancakes that bonus points for me you can order in increments of 1 pancake, 2 pancakes, 3 pancakes, etc. the assumption being you can order whatever whole number of pancakes you are willing to pay for. These pancakes were bigger, better and fluffier than the cheap good pancakes at IHOP for comparison. Yum. I'll be back for more. read more

Wow! Really, I can't believe there are no reviews on OV's! This is a breakfast gem unknown by most. If you're looking for good, hearty breakfast in a diner-like atmosphere, look no further! This diner food far surpasses most I've had in Providence. They have pretty much everything on their slightly sloppy and grammatically challenged (they add apostrophes to the "S" everywhere they shouldn't. It drives me crazy! But that's part of the charm. haha) Just simple eggs over easy, homefries and toast are oh-so-satisfying, but their omelet selection is pretty impressive! A few of my menu favorites are the Huevos Rancheros and the Breakfast Burrito with shrimp. Huge portions, totally affordable prices, quick, hard-working and friendly staff. I'm telling you- this blows those other places out of the water! It's small, so expect a wait, especially with a group. The service here is absolutely lovely. They are very friendly and accommodating. The place itself doesn't look like much, but I think that's it's appeal. It's sort of divey with a mixture of old portraits, odd animal statues, and witty diner humor. So far the food has been spot on everytime. They perfect poach their eggs, their grits are creamy and filling, and their biscuits are griddles just right. The cat fish special was okay I felt as though the fish was a little dry and the beans tasted like they were bushes baked beans. Those are my only gripes and they are minor. I would suggest forgetting the actual menu and ordering from their specials. They are reasonably priced and serve you a pretty hefty portion. Being someone that works in the food industry, I can honestly say that there is something wrong with the customer service and attitude of some of the staff working at OVs. I have heard great things in regards to the quality of food and atmosphere, however this experience is not align with this praise. Me and my friend was seated and waited over 30 minutes to receive food-fine the place was busy and I empathize with having a rush of customers and the kitchen being backed up. However the waitress was not attentive to our table, neglecting to update us on the status of our food. I ordered the Dominican Diva omelette which comes with Cajun shrimp, cheese, and a variety of other toppings. I asked the waitress to have just cheese and shrimp which she replied that it was possible. When the bill came it was charged at 10.98 instead of 8.95 which was indicated on the menu. The itemized receipt indicated that it was a make your own and when I inquired the waitress replied- that woman is the owner and since you took those things out we gave your ten shrimps instead of the 3 that comes in the omelette. She said there's nothing she can do. I just do not understand why an up charge would be given if that is not what I asked for or was not told would happen. The owner than yelled in the back rudely in response to my concern. I will not be back due to the lack of care in this place and common curtesy. read more

Breakfast at OV's can be described in one simple phrase. Hot, Delicious, and plenty of it. If you can interpret their menu that makes 133t$p34k look like Shakespeare, you'll see that they have something along the lines of fourteen thousand different omlette offerings. Every possible comination of things you can imagine wrapped up in eggs is here. I prefer the Rhodekill omelette myself - sausage, bacon, ham, corned beef, and cheese in an omelette. If I wanted, I could get it with egg whites, cuz I'm kind of a health nut. The food is great, but it's not fancy. If you're the type that likes exquisite presentations and all sorts of exotic foodie nonsense - this probably isn't your place. This is a southside diner with great food for neighborhood folks. One warning - OVs is tiny and doesn't have a lot of parking. Even though it's not big with the brunch crowd, it still fills up really fast on a Saturday or Sunday morning.
