I wanted to try something new and decided to get waist length braids which are pretty trendy right now. I was greeted by Sharice who was very bubbly (at 9am, amazing!) and gave an excellent shampoo. She scrubbed my scalp (in a good way) that reminds me of the way my mom used to scrub my scalp before she got carpal tunnel lol. I have really thick hair so it is very rare that someone really takes their time to clean it well as well as knows how to maneuver through it quickly! Sharice did a great job, my hair was soooo clean. I could've left after her wash & blowdry, I was super satisfied. Miya did my braids and they looked so cool!! Better than I was imagining and she was super attentive to my request for looser braids at the hairline since I workout and plan to pull the hair up pretty frequent. She braids fast and neat. I like the way she used the razor at the ends to taper the braids into a V shape at the bottom so we I pull it into a ponytail there is nice depth and the hair isn't hanging & heavy. She mentioned that she also does feeder braids, so I will be back to try those out before my next vacation. read more

I had the worst hair salon experience of my life at this place. At my first appointment, the stylist (Crystal) showed up an hour late. The service took longer than three hours. The stylist couldn't define the curls and I left with frizzy hair. When I got home, the extensions caused tension in the temple area. When I came back to have the extensions removed, I was passed off to an assistant and she aggressively removed the extensions. My hair was thinned out and extremely brittle from the aggressive takedown. Never again, I learned a lot from this experience. read more

I got a silk press for the first time in 8 years. Crystal was fantastic! I was in the salon chair within 3 min. of my appointment time. She did an amazing job and my hair feels so so healthy and clean. I love it! My only one thing is that it ended up notably more expensive than I anticipated. No points off though because after assessing my hair and situation, recommendations were made to me. I didn't ask how much each thing would cost, and I consented to everything done. Sharice even offered to re-do the hair if the photographer wouldn't take her because of our tardiness. Sharice is a jem! New to California, I called to inquire on a Wednesday and had a noon appointment on Thursday (aka..the VERY NEXT day!!) Crystal explained what I could expect with a Front Lace Closure over the phone and everything went just as she had advised. Sharice (LOVE HER!) greeted me at my appointment time, gave me an amazing shampoo (long massage w HOT water just like I like!!) and then blew me out. ...enter Miya! Miya did my base braids and I could barely feel her up there! Grand finale?! None other than Crystal who has THE GIFT!! During my appointment I was incredibly comfortable - I was the only one being serviced, the room temperature was perfect, the music was tasteful and not too loud and I was offered a refreshment. I left this salon after having relaxed & spilled my entire life story (seriously though, what is it about salons turning into therapy halls??!) & laughed and then totally enjoyed myself! Unfortunately, I'm going to have to retract my five star review that I left from my first appointment with Crystal. The purpose of the review system within yelp and Google us to leave honest reviews of our experiences as patrons of each and every business establishment within the community. I texted the owner Crystal early afternoon on Friday Nov 4th telling her we would like to book another appointment and asking questions and information on purchasing one of her wigs as well as bringing in another wig for customization. I never received a response whatsoever all day Friday. And still no response all weekend. I decided to wait until Tuesday when she reopens for business. And stillNothing. As a business owner she failed to comunícate and answer any of my questions. I figured maybe she doesn't want to talk for free. So I want on her website and booked a $50 consultation just so I can talk with her and put $20 down as her site requires that for scheduling. After I paid still no response to my text with question and concerns tues or Wed or Thursday. Crystal was MIA. Now being Thursday was our in person appt and still nothing from her. Showed up about 21 min early and Crystal must have seen us on her ring camera out front because as soon a we walked inside I get a text message stating her moms in the ER. Which I highly doubt was true. Her lack of professionalism caused me not only turbulence in our day but ruined our scheduled plans for a music video shoot in Dubai. It's extremely hard to find a stylist in the bay area last minute that isn't booked out. I really feel she has a misconception of what being a business owner truly is which does not mean she is her own boss. Her clients and members of the community are her boss. If a client contacts, you respond rather late than never. It looks extremely bad, disorganized and rude overall. That even means on weekends and on vacation. A true business owner never stops serving their client base. Such basic entrepreneurship rules that will get you from 1 to 30 salons in 30 years. Not from 1 salon to still 1 salon in 30 years. Also one last thing she offered to sell us a wig for $900 that has been already used once on vacation or a event or something. I found that extremely odd and unsanitary. I've been here a handful of times. I've had Sharice do my hair every time. She does a good job, the problem is the price upon booking is different when you check out. Today I had my hair washed & curled & the total was $123 which is outlandish unless you're in Beverly Hills or Malibu. Online the price says $75 so I'm wondering where the price jump came from. This salon is in San Leandro next to Oakland. I won't come again, there are so many stylists in the area who also do a great job & don't overcharge. When I asked why the price was so much I was told because of length but I have 20 in shoulder length weave in...I'm unsure if the ac works in the salon, but the fans just aren't cutting it especially with all of the stoves heating up hair tools st the same time. My advice if you do choose to patronize this place is to bring cash only! Now I'll leave a review on every possible website. Ok I'm back again and of course I called Crystal for a last minute appointment for a deep condition and flat iron she let me know she wasn't going to be in but her stylist Sharice could get me in in the next hour which was perfect for me when I arrived 15mins early the Paprazzi receptionist greeted me very polite and very well dressed with her Kash doll bun she let me know Sharice would be right with me and she was Sharice and I had a mini consultation about my hair care needs ie if I had sensitive scalp shedding dandruff soon after that I was ready to be washed and let me just say her hands were sent from the Gods lol oh and when she told me 10mins under the dryer she meant it (that deserves 5 more stars in my book) !!! If I could give zero stars I would! I didn't have a problem with this salon owner till she made it a problem. First off consider what you may be getting if you find a service on Instagram. I booked a wedding consultation, but I decided to do it via FaceTime because you know global pandemic! I didn't want to come into the salon till the day I was getting my hair done. She charges $75 dollars for the wedding consultation, $50 dollars is to be used toward the service. I was under the impression that the consultation is really just $25 dollars because you will be getting that $50 used toward the service. I talk to Crystal on the FaceTime call and told her what I'm interested in for my service. The conversation lasts maybe 10 mins total and she was late to the call as well! All seems good okay, well wrong. I go back and forth about the date time for the service because apparently Crystal was out of town, but is also to busy to communicate with her customers directly. Her assistant is texting me but has to get everything approved through Crystal. I had to stay on top of them because there was a period when I didn't hear from them for a week. Crystal sends me an email with a booked day and time without my approval, and I didn't see it because I was expecting a text message. They said they would send me a text but send an email instead? I was getting red flags from this already. I asked the assistant how much the price will be because normally stylist should be able to tell you that before stepping into the salon. This one however is talking about draft price and a BS excuse. I think she didn't want to tell me because she was going to heavily over charge me. She gives me a list of what she recommends through her assistant and the price of $220. I told them that I'm going to reconsider this service because that was way too much. I'm having a zoom wedding and taking some photos. This isn't a traditional wedding ceremony. I don't want to spend a lot of money on my hair! Crystal is an opportunist and is taking advantage of people! I told them I'm going to reconsider the service and look elsewhere. The word gets back to Crystal because I asked for the $50 dollars back. She gets all bitchy towards me and said, "My assistant said you wanted the $50 dollars back for what?" I said, "well I thought the consultation was $25 and $50 would be used toward the service so it's really only $25." She said, " nope it's $75 for a consultation and the $50 is used toward the consultation only if you decided to go with me." I said, "what that's not stated on your website!?" She basically goes on to explain there are plenty of other brides that are able to make it into the salon and get the consultation. The fact that I wasn't it's basically too bad. I told her I'll just get the money back from the Venmo. She was like I'm not having a conversation with you anymore about this and basically threatens to file a suit against me for $75 lol. I don't know what salon owner threatens to file a lawsuit against a customer over $75. Also, not making it perfectly clear the additional money is non-refundable if deciding not to use her service. I could only imagine going to her for a service it would be a major headache. I'm glad I decided not to go further because a business owner should never threaten a customer and should be willing to compromise. I didn't read the comments on there Yelp before booking, and wish I had because the one-star reviews seem more accurate than the five-star ones. There are much better stylist in the Oakland area with better prices don't go to this unprofessional. BEWARE before booking!!! read more

I can't begin to explain my satisfaction with this salon! I was in Oakland for the weekend while my son had a football camp... I have been getting weaves and lace fronts for several years and was itching to get all weaved up again soon. I live on the central coast where the only place to buy hair in a 2 hour radius is Sally's. Gross. I called the salon to book the same day, knowing it would be almost impossible. The front desk girl was so sweet and helpful, she recommended Her Company for my hair and scheduled me with Shareece who was great! Mya literally braids so damn gentle it's unreal. Crystal coached the ladies along the way and made me feel so comfortable. She truly is the most knowledgeable stylist I've ever come across. Everyone in the salon was so gracious and thoughtful. This is hands down the best weave I've ever had... I can wear a high pony tail and it's voluminous and thick. The owner/manager of the shop, Crystal, is so rude; her attitude is horrible! She lacks professionalism, and is unskilled in handling customer disputes.She does not know how to braid which is why she requires a braider. The braider, Miya, seemed really sweet and didn't do a terrible job, she just didn't do the style I wanted. Since Crystal is the owner and sole stylist for anything not requiring braids, I don't recommend dealing with her. Hello everyone: I think it's fair that we all stay honest about the customer service and quality that we receive in the hair, make-up and fashion industry, overall. I say this because too many times, we are fooled and/or pursuaded into spending more than we anticipated or we walk away with poor quality of services and goods. Customer service goes a long way.... Here is what happened to us this morning. My co-workers and I were walking into work today due to BART strike. We work around the Kaiser/Catholic Cathedral/19th & Webster areas. We are kind, professional and intelligent young African American women servicing the entire Bay Area in our specialized fields. We received a flyer this morning from a young woman standing near W.Grand and Webster. When we returned to the office, we decided to huddle in my office, close the door and ask questions about the services. OMG! We asked her questions pertaining to braiding techniques, ordering hair, how much time it takes on average to complete the styles. She mentioned a "scalp-facial". So, the four of us looked at each other in confusion so we asked if she could describe "scalp facial". Apparently, we must have offended her by inquiring. I don't know why because we never heard of a scalp facial. Does it mean that whatever is put onto your scalp is rubbed onto your face?? She was so offended, nasty and abrupt when we asked her to describe it. From my experience, it sounds like this person is not professional. I feel that if she is going to market in this area, she will need to be more professional. We are not raggedy women and we deserve someone who is willing to work well with us and answer all inquiries until we have developed an understanding of services. This is what most of us do on a daily basis. Therefore, we don't understand why is it so hard for someone who is trying to get their business afloat and to maintain and sustain balance, would be so nasty to complete strangers just for asking questions pertaining to the services she is rendering. Maya Angelou said it best on Oprah's show, whatever someone show's you in the first half hour of meeting them, that is who they are. My girlfriend-coworkers have had enough of trashy attitudes from many African American women who claim to be entrepeneurs. I believe she has made the stereo-type of black women being rude and mean, a reality. And in her world, it is a reality. However, that is not our reality. We will not be using her services. This only shows us how business dealings with her in the future would be. She comes across as being slow in her work, but perhaps good at it HOWEVER, there's a price to pay with Time and Quality/Customer Care. I wouldn't waste my time on this one either. read more

I loved this place :-) So this was my very 1st visit I called ahead to see @ what time they closed and Crystal was so sweet and friendly and just by talking on the phone with her u could tell she cares about her clients so let me know that her braider Maya was gonna go back @ 8 and they were both so warm and friendly. Since I have moved to the bay area I have been trying to find my permanent hair stylist and I have found it in this salon and in stylist and salon owner, Crystal. My hair was just not thriving and after going to Crystal for only a few months, I and those around me have noticed the marked difference in my hair. Crystal is very professional, calm and easy to be around. I absolutely adore her. Some of my past experiences in this Eastbay area were with stylist who showed up 30 -45 minutes after the appt time, stylist who tried to force silly info on me about what is best for me hair (with ulterior motive thinly disguised) and stylist who talked so loud and so non-stop, I would get a headache at each visit. Crystal is a breath of fresh hair. I have found my permanent stylist and she is the best.
