I would've gave it a five star if I wasn't comparing it to Kelly's but Kellys has the best roast beef I've ever had. This is definitely second-best very delicious. I saw someone tried to say that it was dry in the reviews. That is not true. It's absolutely delicious. They also are very friendly. Great customer service inside seems kind of dead so I would definitely check out this hidden gem. As for ambience. Family owned hidden gem. Huge menu at very reasonable prices; from pizza and calzone, hot and cold subs, salads, and some dinner plates. They have added more tables and a sit down service counter and are currently serving fish and chips every day. They also will be serving breakfast soon. Not many sub shops offer pepper and egg subs and that's one of my favorite. Pleasant and friendly service. I have had a few other items but that was a few years ago. So ever since the Kelly's Roast Beef closed their Natick, MA location. I've been on a quest to find closer establishments where I can enjoy quality fresh roast beef sandwiches. There's plenty out there but many just don't make the cut. So unfortunately with high hopes and expectations I ventured out to Papa's Roast Beef to give them a shot. Staff was good and friendly small pizza parlor. Few tables and while I was there, I noticed a table of 6 at a table. Not sure how long they've been there yet. So I ordered a super beef and onion rings. Similar order as my preferred choice so I can compare them equally. Waited about 15mins and it was obvious that the table of 6 was getting antsy because they've been waiting for 45 minutes as 1 of the gentleman was huffing about. I was like damn, I don't have 45mins to wait. The roast beef sandwiches was what the 6 other diners was waiting on. I had to agree with the other gentleman when he said this better be the best damn roast beef sandwich he's ever had for having to wait so long for it. Finally the sandwiches was making the way to the tables Mine included in that same batch so ultimately I did not have to wait as long as the others. Now the sandwich, which looked good but the roast beef was a little light (smaller portion)compare to other super beefs from other places. Barbecue sauce on the side, even with barbecue sauce, the sandwich did not taste right. The onion roll was grilled by the oil ring that shows around the outer edge but the center was crusty almost like it was dried out stale. It wasn't toasted because it was plain white no toasting marks. Other then the oil ring. Which produced a very unpleasant taste and texture to the sandwich. And the oil ring gave off a taste of really old stagnant oil. So I had to bring back to the counter and explained my issue and requested a different roll. So I get sandwich back with a plain roll which simply falls apart, as I'm trying to eat it. It was drying out as I'm holding it. The roast beef was a little dry and lacking in flavor. Onion rings was the frozen food service type. It was the battered version. Very crusty hard, definitely over fried even when I requested it to be on the light side. So I think if they use some "fresh oil or butter, even margarine to grill the rolls to warm an soften the rolls it'll compliment the roast beef and have a better product. The greasy onion rings should be replaced with a better product. So sad this is a closer location then the others so far. read more

If you do your ordering in Smithfield RI, you know that you don't have a lot of great options. But, you'd be wrong. Papa's Roast Beef is a restaurant that has a little bit of everything and makes some of the best, most underrated pizza's, dinner's & sandwiches in the city. It's hard to get good delivery nowadays and there aren't a lot of places in Smithfield, RI that do deliver. Papas Roast Beef is one of the few. The food here was edible. I can't say that I enjoyed it (Call me picky). I got their signature roast beef sandwich which was unremarkable, bland, and soggy. Everything else was just as boring. Phone service was quick. I ordered roast beef sandwich with BBQ sauce on the side so I could take half for lunch tomorrow. The bread was saturated with sauce. It was still delicious, but so much for my lunch tomorrow. Ordered a chicken parm sandwich with peppers and it came loaded with HOT DELI peppers. Picked as many as I could off but some were embedded in the cheese. Very disappointed. I thought it would have green peppers as anywhere else would. I did call and express my displeasure and the nice man apologized. Tried this place out after my brother told me about it. When you drive by you would have thought just another hole in the wall pizza and sub shop. Not so the place is small but the price is right . My wife ordered a sm. Roast beef and I ordered the super roast beef only wished they labeled what sandwich was what because their portion size are so generous it was had to tell and their large fries for than enough for two people. Even with all of this we will be back just next time we'll order the small fries. Originally, we decided to give this place a try shortly before Aegean closed down. I was curious to see if their roast beef sandwiches could compete with the best of them (See: Georgio's in Brockton). I ordered the roast beef club and the super beef on an onion roll. It wasnt Georgios...but it was damn close..really good roast beef here. It was piled high and very reasonably priced compared to Walts. Other than the roast beef, we've only tried the pizza..which was pretty good, but nothing to write home about. Decent toppings on a premade crust cooked in a conveyer oven. We always pick up the food, never had it delivered. All the employees were very friendly and go way overboard packing the food to go. (for example: a Super beef sandwich is wrapped in wax paper, then placed in a styrofoam container, then put in a paper bag....and everything gets bagged seperately...crazy.) Honestly, inside and out, the place needs some serious TLC. Outside, weeds 2 feet tall are growing through the cracks..and even on a cool evening, the "dining area" is a blazing 90 degrees. Theres sports related murals on the walls, a flat screen tv, about 8 fourtop tables. I think they would do better business in a smaller location with only a takeout window because as it is right now, no one in their right mind would dine in. All in all, the food is pretty solid. We ordered the "Smithfield pizza" from here, which is cheese, barbecue chicken, barbecue sauce, bacon, roasted red peppers, garlic, and ranch. It was our first time trying this place...we have driven past it tons of times, but to be honest, it looks a little sketched out from the outside. It ended up being good though, and I will definitely go back again. Next time I'll try something different, as I am not a huge barbecue pizza fan... it's a little bit too much for me.. like too intense/sweet...but if you are a barbecue pizza fan...You gotta try the "Smithfield pizza" from here. read more

However one night I did opt for delivery as I had company. The delivery was fast and driver was friendly. The interior needs a little face lift and it's usually very warm inside making it hard to want to stay and eat there. I find the prices to be reasonable for the amount if food you get. Under new management now for awhile, they do a better job than their predecessors. Very good roast beef sammiches, good pizza. They will match competitors specials if you ask they will consider, which is good because I would rather get 2 small 2 topping pies from Papa's than 2 medium ones from Dominos. It's real pizza, more of a Greek crust. Their sauce is heartburn risk though, start your pizza party with some Prilosec. Also, their delivery drivers aren't the best. read more
