3.5 stars! I had higher hopes for Papaya Thai! I had some friends tell me this was the best Thai food they have eaten in New Hampshire! I really wanted to give them higher stars, but I was not super impressed when I came! The food was not bad but not my favorite. The best part was the server! She was very kind and helpful. The restaurant had some bugs/gnats flying around and the tables were kinda sticky. The restrooms weren't super clean. The prices have also gone up! It was pretty expensive to eat there for lunch and we barely had any leftovers... We got Pineapple Fried Rice and also Steamed Fish! I really liked those! We also tried the Mango Chicken and Beef Pad Thai. If I came again, I think I would get the fish again even though the portion was kind of small. Overall, I think it could be worth a try but would have other places in the area to recommend that are cheaper and provide a cleaner environment! read more

Disappointing. Went there for birthday dinner because another restaurant was unexpectedly closed. Since my intro to Thai food 35 yers ago, I always get chicken satay and pad Thai. The Pad Thai seemed greasy and limp. Never had it that consistency, even as leftovers a day or 2 later. The chicken satay was fried, and dark meat. Again, never had chicken satay that wasn't chicken breast and what I presumed to be grilled. read more

I've driven past thousands of times and never stopped. Got takeout for lunch today and it was great! Noodles were good, tasty sauce, fresh veggies and the chicken was delicious. I only wish it had a little more flavor, not spice necessarily, just flavor. I'll be back for more takeout for sure!!! Owner was friendly and efficient. read more

I've ordered takeout from here several times, but unfortunately I was unimpressed with this last trip and most likely will not return for some time. I was very appreciative of their new online ordering platform. But when I saw they were no longer making my favorite Papaya Salad, that should have been my red flag that either the chef had left or they were downgrading quality. I'm assuming the latter. The veggie Spring Rolls were very underwhelming. Lots of Romain lettuce and little Thai herbs and spices. Veggies were cut thick and lazy. Sauce was very thin and watery. The steamed dumplings looked like the ones I could buy at the store. Not sure if these were even made in house. Served on a thin bed of white cabbage. No sauce provided. White rice was served instead of the requested brown rice for my main dish. The Mango Chicken, described as "crispy chicken" were simply fried nuggets of chicken and mango chuncks. Simple veggies almost undercooked in a sweet sauce. It left me unfulfilled, and seems slightly overpriced for the quality of the dishes presented. The highlight of this place is the wonderful customer service and kindness of the hostess. However, I believe I was overcharged $1.50 on top of an online service fee, a small tip, and tax. Not sure what it was for, but not big enough of a deal to sit there and sort it out. However with the new, lower quality of ingredients and dishes, the mistake in my order, and the strange minute upcharge, I'll be going elsewhere for a while. read more

This place is fantastic. Pho bowls are flavorful and HUGE - seriously, get the small. Love the crab rangoons, the fresh spring rolls, and the Tom Kha soup. Jasmine tea is wonderful on a cold night, and even the coconut water (which has little pieces of actual coconut floating around in it) is great. Everything is really colorful and tasty. The sticky rice with mango for dessert is out of this world. Staff is nice and service is quick, either eat in or take out. Nice ambiance for a date night. Place is low key and cozy, leave the kids at home. read more

Food quality was poor. When things arrived they were cold. Poorly packaged and leaking. My daughters drink was missing and they would not refund it. We had the food delivered and the restaurant kept pushing back the time . We waited over 2 hours and the place was closed by the time the food arrived. The food is always awesome here! I usually order the Triple Delight with seafood. They seem to do more takeout business versus dining in - they have a small dining room but it's nice. Their prices are reasonable. Only downside is that they do not serve alcohol but they do offer Thai tea which is always delicious! read more

I have never ever had a problem with this place, EVER. I loved them and spoke so highly cause I love their food. But tonight I took a bite and bit into something unbelievably hard and had to spit it out. When I did and saw what it was I nearly got sick. NOT LYING. I had a SCREW ( a rusty one at that) in the MIDDLE of my rice it is so unbelievably gross and we couldn't finish ANY of our food. I get things happen but a SCREW should NOT be missed. read more

We recently ordered take-out at Papaya Thai in Rochester, NH, and we were pleasantly surprised. I am usually a Kaophum's fan (Dover, NH), however we decided to give this place a shot. The food was ready within 20 minutes on a busy Friday night, and the girl behind the counter was very friendly. For an appetizer, we ordered the Combo Appetizer (for 2). Everything was very good, however the Crab Rangoon was delicious. We also ordered the Chicken Pad Thai and the Drunken Noodles. Both tasted fresh; the latter full of fresh veggies. Surprisingly tasty Thai food. Stopped in and grabbed some takeout while passing through Rochester on a Saturday afternoon. Great location with a public parking lot right across the street. The space itself was nice and bright with fun decor. I will certainly consider dining in next time. Vegetarian egg rolls were yummy, satisfying and not too greasy. My green curry with tofu had a nice amount of spice. The sauce was thicker than I am used to but the dish had a home cooked flare to it that couldn't be denied. My rice was a little more on the chewy side than I am used to but all things considered I would return for sure. read more

Very nice experience at Papya Thai. Only reason I did not go 5 stars is I reserve this for places that blow me away, although the food was excellent it did not blow me away. However with that said let's talk food: Good - Nice sized portions at a good price. The meals were full of meats and vegetables. I would rate these folks above average compared to other Thai restaurants I have been at around the world. The quality of the food was right up there. The Pad Thai my wife had really had quite a bit of pork in it, the texture was nice and the taste was very good without being overwhelming. The house rice was superior. Really one of the best if not the best house rice I ever had. From the exterior this place doesn't look like much, but, I was pleasantly surprised upon entry! Very clean and the staff were neatly attired and professional. Definitely a hidden gem! I only hope the status doesn't degrade to another muck on Main Street. Pinkham was very pleasant! I could tell she was on top of things and maintaining order. Ethnic Diversity is great! The dining room was clean, our server was polite. That said our appetizer crispy shrimp and squid was mostly empty fried batter. The squid was like rubber bands and dipping sauce tasteless. My wife had pad Thai with shrimp and could not eat the shrimp as they tasted musty or moldy she left most of her dinner on the plate. I had the chiefs choice crispy chicken, beef, shrimp, and scallops with stir fried fresh vegetables, onions, red and green peppers all in a sweet and sour sauce. The veggies were fine the chicken and beef were fine but the shrimp and scallops were terrible. The shrimp tasted moldy and the scallops turned to mush in your mouth. I had to spit them out. The sweet and sour sauce tasted like it came from a can. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. read more

Ordered takeout here first time a few days ago and we were pretty disappointed. I got chicken drunken noodles and my wife got the chicken pad thai. The drunken noodles were over cooked and falling apart, and there was maybe two pieces of chicken in it. The pad thai was so dry, the noodles were all stuck together and pretty much in edible. It was my moms birthday so my husband and I headed for Papaya Thai. Its a little ways from our area but let me tell you IT Was-Worth The Extra Miles!!.We walked into a pleasantly bright uplifting dining room and right away seated in a warm nicely decorated room with flowers-and Thai decorum.The nice woman who waited on us was friendly and very polite. The food was Fantastic! We started with crab rangoons and fresh rolls. Mom got her fave...shrimp rolls. All were crisp fresh and so wonderfully full of flavor. Crab Rangoins were crispy light with a real nuce crab flavor not just cream cheese. The fresh rolls-were tight and soo yummy with fresh flavors! Mom's shrimp rolls were made just how she likes ..with ground chicken. The shrimp...big and fresh..fried crispy light as air! The main dishes were superb. We ordered pineapple rice with shrimp.It was so delisious! The combo dish was the best we ever had with fresh hadock beef and chiken all lightly breaded and fried with fresh vegetables in a tamarind sauce. Last..the beef stir fry was full of tender slices of beef with red and green pepoers and onions in a savory sauce. Again some of the best Thai food we have had. The portions were huge (lots for our lunch today!) And the price was amazingly fair not expensive to the pocket for such outstanding Thai food.Cant wait to go back!! read more

I ordered two house fried rice and Crab Rangoon for take out. They took my order quickly and efficiently. I had my food in a matter of minutes. When I did eat the food it was very good and there was plenty. I was a little nervous about the food due to experience from over a year ago there but was told that there were new owners so I thought I would give them a chance for them to prove they were better. They are a lot better than the previous owners and I look forward to ordering from there again. I am happy that there is a Thai restaurant in Rochester that I can go to once again and I will also let other people know that it is a good place to eat. read more

Ate in here one time last month and ordered take out here just tonight. With a $45 order, they wanted to charge me 50 cents for extra container of sauce (which contains about 2 tablespoons of liquid). Additionally, they have shrunk all their portions down. The containers of rice for take out are half to 3/4 size, pad thai was basically all noodles, no shrimp, crappy shreds of chicken. Plastic container with Tofu red curry was HALF the size it typically is at Thai Cuisine in Dover. Taste was pretty good, but I will not go back and predict they don't last long with these small portions and nickle and diming people for half ounce containers of sauce. read more
