Paper Caper did our November 2017 wedding invites through our wedding planner's referral and we were happy with all of the collaboration processes for our Save the Date and Wedding Invitation custom stationary orders. Pros: - Alison was very friendly and upfront about many options - Team really knows their designs and stationary/custom options (we even did a custom wax seal stamp for our wedding invitation which gave it plenty of personality) - Professional meetings and Alison stayed late to ensure we fully aligned on our design options Cons: - E-mail Communication will be sporadic during busy wedding season. Phone is almost always preferred. - Quality is just as superior to different stores around the Bay Area, but costs can/will be high for heavy customization. My fiancée, mother and I walked in to look at wedding invitation ideas. Almost immediately, we were met with extreme rudeness and almost aggressive behavior by two women who worked there. They made us feel like we were intruding on them at their place of work. I've never been treated so poorly before- CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS AWFUL and I'll NEVER be returning. If you want great customer service and a great selection, go to Paper Source down the street. If you want to be made to feel stupid and unwanted, hang out at Paper Caper. Alison at Paper Caper helped with my wedding invitations, as well as all of our day-of stationery (programs, seating chart, various signs, etc), and I was in love with all of it. I love supporting local businesses, and Alison and Julie are lovely. My mom and I really enjoyed all of the time we spent with them at the shop (and we were sometimes there for hours!). Alison did a great job making sure that everything would be just as we wanted it... even if that meant some back and forth on possible changes "just to see." These ladies clearly enjoy their work and know their products inside and out, which was helpful, since there were times when we didn't know where to begin. There were a few moments when I was worried we wouldn't hit a deadline, but we always did, even if it meant that Alison was sending me emails and proofs for approval late at night. As others mentioned, email communication can be spotty at best, so I usually called or dropped in to the shop. Most importantly, I loved all of the stationery and paper at our wedding. She went the extra mile, looking over our writings & editing for style and helping us with the etiquette and phrasing (which was MUCH appreciated). However, she got all of the proofs in by the deadline dates I gave her and all of the printing was done when we needed it. She got back to me promptly whenever I called. I came here twice to look at wedding invitations. The first time an older lady smiled at me and told me that all their wedding stuff was in the back, so I head back there and start looking around and wait and wait and wait. I was not acknowledged at all. I came in yesterday and it was worse. Not only was I not acknowledged I was looked through, as if I wasn't even there. There were plenty of sales people helping everyone else, but I couldn't get a smile, nod, an "I'll be right with you" . I don't expect them to drop what they're doing to help me but a smile would have been nice. With all the invitation websites you think they would have better customer service. read more

I walked into this store looking for invitations and specific invitation-type paper however I didn't find any maybe because when I entered, I was not greeted nor acknowledged throughout my entire 10-minute visit. Even as I ventured into the back towards the books of invitations, the employees did not try to help or offer their assistance at all, even when i obviously seemed a little lost as a first-timer at this store and not knowing where to turn. I love coming to this place just to find inspiration for invitation or greeting card ideas. Their entire back area is fully stocked for theme invitations, complete with a whole gallery full of album samples for Wedding invitations and other special events. I randomly walked into this shop while waiting to pick someone up from SFO, and what was supposed to be window shopping turned into me buying everything I've ever wanted! I love cards and stationary, but this place takes it to another level. There are party supplies, custom invitations, knock knacks. What I stumbled upon was the cute party supplies like napkins and cards, and the SPARKLERS. I've been wanting them forever but never knew where to buy them and didn't really trust anything online. Lets just say the $60 I spent made my tiny wedding so cute and memorable. Don't waste your time. They have great stationary and lots of wedding invitations options but don't bother going through them for your wedding invites unless you start working on them literally the second you get engaged. Terrible customer service, take weeks to respond and it's only because you followed up with them. No sense of urgency on something that is so time sensitive, like your invites. Lots of empty promises here. Say they'll have something for you by a given time, then you don't hear from them for weeks and they'll blame it on the vendors or because they were swamped, but still don't deliver even after that. I would expect better customer service from a business that is suffering from all the online invite competitors. We ended up being forced to go somewhere. read more

A friend of mine got their wedding invitations from here and even though they got the spelling and shipping wrong, I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and seek them for our invites. We walked in, which is a small walk way so I didn't think anything of it when no one said hello. We continued to the back where wedding invitations are held and my fiancé and I stood there for 5-10 minutes hoping to get serviced...not only did we just stand there like waiting ducks, 4 associates (including the owner) walked right by us without a word. Yes there were other people in the store but it was 1 couple paying at the register. So disappointed by a local business so close to us seeing as wedding invitations are hard to find nearby. On the plus side, we got to work with the people at Papyrus and Paper Source and they were beyond helpful. Don't waste your time, go to the other invitation locations and walk out happy read more

Very disappointed. We were quoted one price and when we went in to pick up it was significantly higher. Even after I called to speak to manager, they did not honor the original pricing. This was a simple inhouse order but we just opened a business in Burlingame and will be needing various custom printing but we will find another merchant who stands behind their word. I used to go to Paper Caper 20+ years ago for birthday gifts for my friends. The bubble gum machines with your name written in puff paint. These were in high demand and you weren't cool if you did not have one. Stopped in at Paper Caper to get a gift bag. They have changed ownership since back in the day. The back room is still setup for stationary needs and personal event supplies. The front of the store has little gift and wrapping goods. Not the friendliest staff though. It will be sad the day that this place no longer exists as it was a staple in my childhood. Bring back the bubble gum machines ! read more
