They would not refund and they would only take it back if I paid for the shipping. Do yourself a favor and take your business elsewhere Update... they did refund. Enticing products; Bad Customer Service. They look to have a wide variety and good assortment of items and others have seemed to enjoy their products, but unfortunately I did not have a good experience with the Paper Lantern Store. I ordered about $100 of paper star lanterns from their website as a Black Friday special. The following business day I received a shipment notification of my items, however I noticed about half my items were not shipped. I reached out to their customer service and was told that them items were not shipped because they were out of stock and a website glitch had allowed them to be added to my cart. I was a little disappointed that I wasn't notified that my items were not shipped, but these things happen. Upon going on their website to see if I could order an alternative product I saw that the product that I hard ordered, that I was told was out of stock, was showing to be in-stock. I emailed back to their customer service to confirm what I saw on their website, and representative did confirm that. She proceeded let me know that they hadn't shipped the product to me because of a pricing glitch, not a "out of stock" problem. Regardless, at this point I felt like I was getting the run around (maybe even being lied to). In the end they wanted to charge me again to order the products that I had already been charged for. I get that mistakes happen, and that's okay, but I also expect some ownership of the problem and unfortunately their customer service was unable to deliver on that. read more

I'm so thrilled to have found this website. Years ago I purchased a bamboo/nylon parasol at an anime convention. It has proven so useful during our hot California summers, when even a short bareheaded walk under the sun can leave me burned and overheated. After my drawing class I often have to wait 10-15 minutes for my ride, on concrete, with my back against a blank wall that reflects the heat ferociously. I sit on my tote to protect my bottom and spread my parasol to protect the rest of me; the parasol makes it bearable. I've also noticed that my parasol cuts down on the number of headaches I have after being out in the bright sun all day. I am constantly getting compliments on how lovely the parasol looks (except from one cranky woman who remarked that I was "going to poke someone's eyes out") and asked where I got it. And many times I have wanted to give a parasol as a gift... but I simply couldn't find an affordable place to buy them. I stumbled onto Asian Import Store's website after a couple hours of searching Google. They were the ONLY website I found (though I admit, I stopped searching the minute I found them) that had a decent, affordable selection of sizes and patterns in paper and nylon parasols. Coincidentally, they are not far from where I live. I made a "test order" of four different parasols on Friday evening. Asian Import Store sent me both an order confirmation and a shipment notification (with tracking number) via email. I received the parasols on Tuesday. They are all lovely. I was worried that, as they were so affordable, they would be cheaply made. I needn't have. They are solidly constructed, and the opening/closing mechanism has a quality feel, although it can be a little difficult to push it that last half centimeter to the "locked-open" position. I could not be happier with the service or with the products. I will be re-ordering soon! read more

I ordered the Modern pendant lamp cord, braided cord with switch 11 ft. It's awesome! I used "chat" to ask a question about the outside socket size to find if my bulb cage would fit and the rep took their time to measure it for me fairly quickly. Very nice customer service! Looks fantastic with an Edison bulb, the cage, and love the vintage look of the cord. If I ever need anything related to their inventory I will definitely shop here again. I should add that I bought a lamp cord on a different site a week earlier at about the same price and it was a piece of junk. This piece is quality at a great value and shipping was fast. This company is a joke, they offer this item 7" high on the header, right at the bottom they make an explanation that is not true at all, just 4.5'' high and 7'' with the handled, so is completely inaccurate and tricky. I am busy. I use a lot of paper lanterns for different events. I put an order in my shopping cart. Perhaps I got distracted, or did not realize the order did not submit. In a couple of days I got an email to remind me that I had an unfinished order. It was awesome. My ordering was not timely and now I would have to cross my fingers that the lanterns arrive in time. I'm very, very impressed with Paper Lantern Store. I made a purchase on ebay from them, for 3 turquoise paper lanterns in various sizes. They were very reasonably priced, and I messaged them to inquire about whether I could add on a few additional gray lanterns to the same order without having to pay another full shipping cost. A rep named Nikki soon responded that yes I could, and gave me the phone # to the store so I could call and get it all handled. As soon as I called the store, I was told "Ah, yes, we have it all right here waiting for your call. You're Jade, right?" Impressive. They added my gray lanterns and I paid the measly $3 via credit card--good deal. But the coolest thing happened after I got off the initial phone call. I had mentioned my annoyance in buying turquoise paper lanterns previously, because other stores had sent me lanterns that were too blue and not turquoise enough. Well, about 2 minutes after my phone call, Whitney from the store called me back explaining that the 12 inch turquoise in my set is a bit darker than the other 2, so she offered to upgrade me to a 14 inch for no charge. Cool! I told Whitney I would be writing this review on Yelp, because I was so impressed that she truly listened to my rambling/venting about how tough it is to match turquoises. She took the time to physically looked thru my order before packaging it, noticed the shade difference in the 12 inch one, and found my number to call me back and upgrade me to a bigger, matching shade, for free. I've worked retail for years, and I currently am a server at a popular chain restaurant. So I know all about good vs bad customer service, and also about the extra effort it takes to really go above and beyond for a stranger during the height of your busy day when you really don't want to devote that extra time to it. But Whitney did devote that time, and so did Nikki (who I assume is the ebay rep who put my order together in the store as she awaited my phone call today). Thank you Paper Lantern Store! Thanks Whitney and thanks Nikki! You guys went above and beyond for me. I would like to close by asking myself "what is a paper lantern cluster really about?" What is it for? What feelings is it supposed to provoke? I like to think my paper lantern cluster will represent magic and whim. Togetherness and enchantment. Decided to get some paper lanterns for a dinner party. First checked out Daiso, and they were selling plain white ones or flowery ones for $1.50. Also checked Dollar Store, and they only had polka dotted ones. I was hoping for a little more choice in color, so did a search for "paper lanterns" and was hooked up with the Paper Lantern Store. I didn't have time to do a on-line transaction, but I noticed that they were in Redwood City, so I just emailed hoping they could accomodate for a pick up 2 days later when they opened at 8am. I suprisiningly got a response really quickly from Jennifer saying she could get the laterns all packed for me for pick-up, which made me happy. Day of, i went searching for the store. I think it is actually called Asian Import Store on the storefront. I got there a little earlier than the 8:15 pick up time, so the service person wasn't in the front, but luckily the warehouse manager helped me out. We had to search for my box, which ulitmately was right in front of us the whole time, I paid, and I was of on my merry way. Setting up the lanterns was not difficult, and they looked great! HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE To say I am unsatisfied is an understatement. I ordered lanterns for an event and received them dirty, used and with dead bugs and insects inside of the bag. After calling to complain I was told I would have to pay for the restocking fee of the item. I should have received a full refund immediately. Ordered fifteen 18" paper lanterns, battery-powered remote-control LED lights, and a remote control. They arrived on time and all of them worked right out of the box (and after installing batteries). We also ordered 5" galvanized buckets to put flower arrangements in, and all of them came with plastic liners so there was no leaking or rust.
