First time at Paper Plate BBQ. I wanted some brisket. Ordered a half pound to go. Staff was ok, not great... I found them a bit less than friendly, or so it seemed. Brisket was ok... it was very fatty, not well trimmed prior to the cook. I was bummed that since they relocated to another place, they apparently cannot make their mac & cheese, so I was bummed out about not being able to get mac & cheese from them. Great - totally solid Texas-style BBQ, though not competing with the best of them down there. That is a high bar few can clear. But absolutely delicious and the best I've had in Oregon! First impression just by looking at the menu board...overpriced mediocre sandwich from a food truck.... WRONG WRONG WRONG... the sandwich is worth $18. Paper Plate is hands-down one of the best food truck experiences I've had. This was actually my second trip to Eugene just to try their food, and it was absolutely worth the journey. Although the barbecue meats weren't fully ready when I arrived, bossman still took a piece of brisket that was in the smoker, cut it up, and let me try it. It was already so good--even though he would've cooked it longer--that it made the trip completely worth it. The barbecue is insanely delicious--smoky, tender, and clearly crafted with care. I didn't get to try the tea-brined turkey myself, but I was told all about its lemony, unique flavor profile. It sounded so good that now I have to go back and try it next time. I ordered the pork belly breakfast burrito and was not prepared for the size of this thing--absolutely enormous and packed with flavor. The shredded potato inside instead of traditional hash browns was such a clever move, adding texture without being greasy. The tomatillo-based salsa deserves its own shoutout. Bright, zesty, creative, and with just the right kick. And the homemade barbecue-meets-hot-sauce creation? Absolute genius. It's the kind of sauce you wish they bottled so you could take it home. And then... the whiskey caramel-covered cinnamon roll. Soft, warm, and drenched in a rich caramel sauce, topped with chunks of apple that added the perfect sweet-tart bite. Truly one of the best cinnamon rolls I've had, period. Paper Plate is creative, flavorful, and clearly run by someone who takes their craft seriously. If you haven't tried it yet, you're missing out. Food is delicious and the customer service is incredible. I've eaten here many times but wanted to leave a review because of my most recent experience. My office ordered from Paper Plate for lunch and after getting the food back to the office, turns out a couple sides were accidentally left out. I gave a call to see what could be done about it. Instead of just refunding the difference, they hand delivered the sides to us. If that doesn't scream 100% customer service, I'm not sure what does. I am not a bbq fanatic but my husband is and scouted out this place on our recent trip. I must say, it was very good! I gravitate towards pulled pork, which was flavorful but standard. The ribs and fatty brisket were outstanding though! Fall off the bone tender ribs and delicious tender fatty brisket. For sides we tried the queso mac (amazing), and coleslaw and pickles (both solid). Four star not a five star meal for me because none of the sauces blew me away. Sweet was a bit too sweet, spicy profile threw me off (too much pepper??), and the yellow one was a bit too unusual but it did taste interesting (tangy??) This is my third time at Paper Plate. I enjoy the flavor of their meats and the menu offerings. Their sandwiches are loaded with meat and are pretty tasty. Today, instead of a sandwich, I decided to buy 1/2 lb. of brisket to turn into a sandwich when I got home later. Half a lb of their brisket costs $17. That's a bit pricey but I'll splurge once in a while. When I got home and opened the bag. $17 was 3 slices of meat and that's it. I was a bit taken aback about the quantity vs the price. My mouth waters when I think about this spot. I've lived in Texas have family in the South, I generally have a distaste for BBQ on the West Coast. I've had the best of the best and it usually doesn't compare to gas station BBQ in the south, but Paper Plate goes HARD. Simple, delicious and straight down to bidness BBQ in my opinion. My go to is the brisket with a side of Mac and cornbread muffin. The brisket always has a great bark with and a smoke permeation that sends every bite into overdrive. Delicious! That is the first word of this review because that is the best way to describe this food. The ribs were truly fall off the bone. The brisket sandwich was the perfect bread to meat ratio, and the added house pickles on the sandwich was the acidic taste that cut the fat. The brisket was so well cooked even the fatty bits were glorious. The Mac and Cheese was flavorful and had multiple cheeses in the base, I would have liked the base to be a little more creamy and solid, it was a little too liquid for me. The corn bread was delicious and moist in its own, but I wished it had the honey butter on the muffins. We didn't get there close to closing, so it was disappointing not to have that iconic frosted honey butter on top. One of the standouts of the food was the sauces! They had a spicy barbecue, a regular barbecue, and a pickle mustard. They were delicious and we dipped all of the items in them, I would buy bottles of that stuff! The service was quick and good. We could tell they were quite busy, but it only took us about 15 minutes to get all of our food. They were kind at the table, and were apologetic about not having some items. The ambiance of the brewery was okay. It was a very busy weekend so I won't fault them for that. But the tent outside with heaters was nice, and the tables were nice and sturdy. We visited on a Tuesday about 15 mins after they opened and, based on how good the food was, I am surprised there wasn't really a line. We ordered the brisket, spare ribs, pulled pork, mac and coleslaw. Everything was excellent, however, the brisket and ribs stood out. It's an art form to smoke a perfectly tender brisket and only a handful of places around the country seem to be able to pull it off. Similar comments as many others -- excellent bbq (in my case, ribs) but speedy. $12 (or $14 including tip) for two ribs (1/2 pound). Is one rib worth $6 or $7? Umm, maybe not on a regular basis. But if you want what is possibly the best bbq rib in town (not tons of serious competition (yeah, I'm talking about you Bill and Tim's)) then bring some cash. That cost was ribs only, no sides. Sides are another matter, addressed by other reviews. Oh, oddly they were out of brisket -- even though it was 15 minutes after they opened. I'm guessing they just didn't make any. If so, then they should have just said so.. Odd to say they were already sold out. I didn't want press them on the subject. Would I get the ribs again? No, because as good as they are I can't justify the cost. If they have brisket though, then I'd do a sandwich or tacos. read more

Texas style BBQ food truck located at coldfire brewing. We ordered 1/2 lb each of brisket and pulled pork, Texas hot links, cornbread, and carnivore beans. The meat was all excellent: tender and flavorful. The barbecue sauces were also good; I think the spicy version could have been spicier but that is the only thing I would have changed. I was expecting that the carnivore beans would be more of a baked beans with chunks of meat in it, but it turned out to be more like refried beans with some small pieces of meat sort of dissolved along with it. Still tasted good just not quite what I was expecting. My partner liked them a lot though. Overall, I would definitely eat here again! read more

I think Paper Plate may be the best BBQ in town. I've been here several times now (and it always pairs nicely with a pint of Coldfire Beer). For BBQ joints, side dishes are as important as the mains, and Paper Plate does NOT disappoint. I've had their brisket (get this, you won't regret it), ribs (go for at least a pound...half a pound is just 1 rib...), and sausage links. Their pulled pork sandwich is also delicious! Next time, I plan on trying their brisket philly cheese. However, the side dishes are where it's at! Cheese curds, cornbread muffins, slaw, beans, mac and cheese, and even their fries are good! Make sure to get an extra side of their honey BBQ aioli though, just to tie everything together.
