An assortment of the 1/2 lb meats, beans, and coleslaw. Plus a delicious Fort George IPA from Play.

Good bbq, kind of on the salty side and expensive but otherwise really enjoyable. Coleslaw was really flavorful, pulled pork was my favorite of the assortment of meats we ordered. We definitely over ordered wanting to try a number of meats (there's no mixed plate) so we ended up with leftovers and a $71 meal for two. Three meats two sides. I'd have rather had the option for a small amount of 2-3 meat options and a side but everything is sold separately. Next time just pulled pork and a side of coleslaw.

Yummmyyy. Paper Plate BBQ was so delicious. I can't stop thinking about how good their barbecue was. We got the ribs, pulled pork, beans with brisket, and cornbread. There is also complimentary white bread, pickled onions, and pickles. Paper Plate is a food truck, but there is outdoor seating as well as indoor seating at PLAY Eugene.

Great - totally solid Texas-style BBQ, though not competing with the best of them down there. That is a high bar few can clear. But absolutely delicious and the best I've had in Oregon! I'm a former Houston resident and felt completely happy with what we ordered. One edge of the brisket was a bit dry, so that let me down a bit. But damn that cornbread.......hooooo. Couldn't get enough. The sauces are delicious and pair well with the plates. I'll come back when the fancy strikes.

Happy anniversary to the best BBBQ in town!

Simply the best! I couldn't wait for the anniversary celebration to dive into the Dino rib and it was worth the wait! Smoky, juicy, and perfectly cooked. Can't wait to have it again.

Food truckish establishment. Co-located with Coldfire Brewery. Picnic bench seating. In the parking lot. Covered and lit. You order at the counter then find a seat. You get a pager to notify you when your order is ready. There was no seating available, so ordered it to go. I got the BBQ Brisket Sandwich $18. First impression just by looking at the menu board...overpriced mediocre sandwich from a food truck.... WRONG WRONG WRONG... the sandwich is worth $18. Good size sandwich, loaded with chunks of brisket. Tender perfectly cooked. Sweet tangy sauce...messy...thats what I expected. The only 2 negatives... lack of seating and the wait to pick up order. On a Tuesday night, order placed at 606PM, received at 633PM.

They do a darn good job of putting out some tasty BBQ. We had the BBQ brisket sandwich with sides and were pleasantly surprised by the quality.

I am not a bbq fanatic but my husband is and scouted out this place on our recent trip. I must say, it was very good! I gravitate towards pulled pork, which was flavorful but standard. The ribs and fatty brisket were outstanding though! Fall off the bone tender ribs and delicious tender fatty brisket. For sides we tried the queso mac (amazing), and coleslaw and pickles (both solid). Four star not a five star meal for me because none of the sauces blew me away. Sweet was a bit too sweet, spicy profile threw me off (too much pepper??), and the yellow one was a bit too unusual but it did taste interesting (tangy??) Employees were friendly, good came out fast, and loved that you could sit outside or inside the Nextdoor brewery and grab a beer (which I did, Czech Pilsner and it was very refreshing on a hot day).

Food is delicious and the customer service is incredible. I've eaten here many times but wanted to leave a review because of my most recent experience. My office ordered from Paper Plate for lunch and after getting the food back to the office, turns out a couple sides were accidentally left out. I gave a call to see what could be done about it. Instead of just refunding the difference, they hand delivered the sides to us. If that doesn't scream 100% customer service, I'm not sure what does. I will continue to eat here and recommend anyone interested in good BBQ to do the same. *photo from a different day*

I've wanted to try this place for sometime now. The food always smells so good! My Aunt wanted ribs so, we tried this bbq spot. Yum! My Aunt loved her ribs! I was going to try the citrus chicken but, I didn't get there in time. They were sold out. I tried their nap time nachos and yum! So good and such a wonderful blend of tastes! From the meat, cheeses and the cornbread crumble. Trust me lots of food and I was very ready for a nap. I will be back for sure to try some briskets and their sdiesc sound so good! As I was eating I was watching them putting tray after tray of food together, just assumed it was for a party. I overheard another customer say they were feeding the firefighters. What an awesome thing to do and I most definitely will be supporting them! Good job to support the community and those risking their lives during this fire season!

    Chicken Sandwich. Yummy, messy

Food truck outside Cold Fire Brewing. The brisket was out of this world! Any bbq tends to be a bit pricey but worth it. Potatoes were awesome, wife's chicken Sandi was messy but good. Go for the BBQ stay for a beer. Would def recommend. I don't like topping full price without full service just saying....

Some of the other reviews were negative on their food...but our food was fantastic. The burgers were moist and not greasy. The waffle cut fries were hot and crispy. The bartenders work non stop to get your drinks and food out quickly. My daughter loved the churro style donuts (but they are messy). The decor is a D&D dive bar scene....so many things to look at as you wait for bingo to start. They just changed the rules and you do have to pay $1.00 per person to play bingo...but where else can you get that type of entertainment for a dollar. We can't wait to return.

At one point, the bartender disappeared for approximately fifteen minutes, leaving several patrons waiting without acknowledgment. When she finally returned, she casually mentioned she had been on a personal phone call. A second woman then stepped behind the bar, immediately clarifying that she was not, in fact, a bartender. When I expressed concern about the extended absence and lack of service--something I would consider standard feedback in any hospitality setting--I was abruptly told I was "speaking badly" about the staff and was asked to leave. This kind of defensiveness and disregard for patrons is deeply unprofessional, especially for an establishment that positions itself within a community where communication, accountability, and mutual respect are paramount. Eugene has a growing nightlife and alternative culture scene, and many people--locals and visitors alike--expect spaces that uphold those values. Based on my experiences, I cannot recommend The Serpent & the Sparrow. There are other venues in town that offer a far more welcoming environment, competent service, and a genuine respect for their patrons.

On our first morning in our new town, we went to The Original Pancake House for breakfast. It was a simple meal, but one we were grateful we could afford. When we asked for the check, our server smiled and told us someone had already paid for it. That small act of kindness made me feel like I truly belonged in our new home. It reminded me that even in an unfamiliar place, there were good people who cared about others. Since that day, every time we visit The Original Pancake House, we make it a point to pay it forward whenever we can. It's our way of honoring the kindness that meant so much to us and has stuck with me. Beyond the beautiful memory, the food is incredible. It's hands down the best breakfast I've ever had. Comfort food that tastes like it's made with love. You must try the Dutch baby! The ladies who work there are always so warm and welcoming, making every visit feel like coming home. The Original Pancake House in Eugene is a charming, family-friendly spot with genuine warmth and stellar coffee. The casual, lively vibe makes it feel like the proper brunch destination you'd hope for from a legendary breakfast joint. We ordered their hero dish--a side of buttermilk pancakes--and the Irish Omelette. The pancakes delivered real flavor: fluffy, tender, with classic buttermilk tang. My only critique? They arrived cool, likely from sitting in the warmth window a bit too long. Off the griddle, these would shine. The Irish Omelette was more disappointing. Designed to be airy and light with corned beef and potatoes inside, ours was overcooked and rubbery--far from the delightful, pillowy texture it should be. For a restaurant with this history, execution should be consistent. The coffee and service were warm and attentive, which goes a long way. 3/5 stars. Worth visiting for atmosphere, especially if your pancakes arrive hot. Try during slower service to avoid the window-sit fate. The Portland location executes at a higher level.
