Our reservation was at 10pm. We showed up on time, yet we had to wait 23 minutes to be sat. No apology from anyone working or anything. I found this to be a little upsetting & not okay. Ordinary We tried the edamame with spicy on the side. Good California roll. Basic New York roll. Basic again Spicy tuna roll. Not spicy at all. My son enjoyed the Asian bourbon chicken. Favorite Picks: - paper tuna roll - hot truffle nigiri - nikkei tataki This is the perfect spot to go to share some bites with friends because you most likely won't want to just eat on option. As far as ambiance, the place has a nice vibe to it, music isn't too loud so you can hold a perfect conversation. Finally got to have a sit-down experience at PaperFish and it did not disappoint! My husband and I went on a Sunday evening and, even then, it was pretty full. First, they have everyday happy hour with food and cocktails for about $7! We started with a few cocktails, as well as the salmon nigiri, spicy tuna roll, and gyoza from the HH menu. The salmon nigiri was by far my favorite. The spicy tuna roll was decent, but nothing to rave about, and the gyoza were delicious - however, they also came with these giant crisps that were difficult to eat and added nothing to the flavor. From the normal menu, we ordered a variety of special nigiri (we loved the yellowtail and scallop, especially!), the waygu bao buns, and the crispy rice (split between tuna and salmon). We'd recommend skipping the bao buns - just a bit dry. But all the sushi was exceptional! And, we finished off with their caramel lava cake with pistachio ice cream and...yum. They also have a chocolate version - but the cake was just so decadent and appropriately gooey! Service-wise, Joslyn (Jocelyn?) was fantastic; she answered our questions, explained parts of the menu, and was generally a cheerful person to engage with! read more

The dragon Moscow mule was strong, but it definitely tasted more Moscow mule than dragonfruit. The lychee martini has a stronger lychee taste than the dragon Moscow mule did with the dragonfruit. The miso black cod was DELICIOUS, and the wagyu ishiyaki stone was good but not worth the price in my opinion. You're mostly paying for the experience of cooking it yourself. Both entrees are not filling, so I would recommend the side of crispy truffle fried rice since it's more filling and the price pales in comparison to the entrees. Paperfish is located under the Financial District metro mover stop in Brickell. There is a parking lot located right next to it and street parking around the Brickell area. We stopped by for a late lunch. We didn't need a reservation for lunch and we're able to be seated quickly. The aesthetic is super nice and I loved the Japanese Cherry Blossom decor inside. They didn't have a lunch menu, so we ordered from their regular menu. We ordered the hamachi, waygu, and shrimp nigiri. The salmon and tuna hand rolls and the krab salad bao. My favorites were the shrimp and waygu nigiri and the salmon hand roll. The krab salad bao was alright, but I think I would order the waygu bao next time. The food and drinks we had were all very good and to be honest the only reason I did not give five stars was because the service was a little shaky. It wasn't so bad that I would never go again, in fact, I will def be back, but there was def room for improvement there. My major complaint was that we waited close to 30 mins to get service and when we did our server said he was sorry, that he forgot our table was his. That was a little odd. And the whole time he just seemed overwhelmed and was trying to be funny, but it kinda wasn't. That being said we still had a good time and the sushi was excellent. Now this spot was next level. Came here for my brothers birthday at his request and upon arriving, well, it was a brilliant scene. The Japanese decor was amazing and so detailed. An absolute highlight are the cherry blossoms right in the middle across from the sushi bar. Definitely a site to see and only makes me want to go to Japan even more now! We were a group of 6 so we had a little bit of everything because I eat with my eyes every single time and over order right in cue lol. The favorites were: - Crispy Truffle fried rice with Wagyu steak - Hot truffle Nigiri - Maguro Foie - Smoked rocoto ceviche All the plates are definitely shareable and this is a spot to come check out with friends and enjoy a couple of cocktails while enjoying some good grub. My one issue was the service. Our server wasn't very attentive and kept coming back to the table to either ask us to repeat our order or tell us that he didn't know something was out in the kitchen. This shouldn't be happening at a restaurant like this. Servers get weeded and I get that but the service lacked in every aspect. The food and ambiance are what made my experience memorable. If they can nail this particular part next time I come around, then it would be a perfect experience.
