An Evening--unexpected--yet precise. Paperfish is not merely a place to dine-- it is a quiet unfolding--of texture, of taste--of pause. Each plate arrives--like a small revelation-- delicate--intentional--undisturbed. The sushi--exceptional. Not loud--but certain. Freshness does not announce itself--it lingers-- in the softness of the rice--the clean finish of each bite. There is an intimacy--to the space-- a dim-lit hum--where conversation softens-- and time--loosens its grip. Service--attentive, without intrusion-- as if they understand-- that moments like these--should not be rushed. One leaves--slightly altered-- not full--but fulfilled

Every bite was fantastic--I'm still dreaming about the black cod bites. The torched salmon aburi was truly melt-in-your-mouth, and the hand rolls reminded me so much of KazuNori in NYC. The fish ceviche was also excellent and incredibly fresh. My one downside was the sake situation. We ordered a bottle, only to be told it wasn't available--this happened three separate times before we finally gave up and asked for three glasses of whatever sake they actually had. That felt like a clear miss on the procurement/inventory side. That said, the space itself is very cool. The interior is covered in collage-style artwork, there's a massive faux tree structure in the center of the room, and a projector playing visuals that really adds to the vibe. Overall, amazing food and atmosphere--just wish the beverage execution matched the rest of the experience.

First time coming to Paperfish and I feel like it was a bit overhyped. I came here with my cousin for a drink and some appetizers and was not impressed by any of it. For starters, we did not see the restaurant until we turned the corner while looking for parking because it looks like it's in an alleyway between other buildings and businesses. We found street parking about half a block away (pay by phone of course). The restaurant does not offer valet and I am unsure if the spaces in front of the restaurant are paid parking or if it's for another business. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the servers were nice and very attentive. They were quick to serve us our drinks and first 2 appetizers, and they cleared the tables quickly when we were done with a dish or drink. However the last appetizer took a bit longer to arrive. Sadly, I was not impressed by the food or drinks, and there was not one thing I ordered that would bring me back to the restaurant. I may have been anticipating coming to this restaurant for so long and expected too much, or maybe the things we ordered are not the things that the restaurant is known for. I would much rather go to another sushi spot.

We came here on a semi busy Friday night for some sushi. We ordered the baby corn, the jalapeño sushi and the Wagyu. I didn't realize that with the wagyu that you basically have to cook it yourself. you have to be quick because the actual hot stove cools off within a few minutes, so it felt a little rushed to eat it since we were sitting outside. I wish we were more about that prior to ordering. The sushi was really good. It was a little bit spicy, but still great. The baby corn was great. It was very unique and very well seasoned. I was also really happy with the shrimp that we got. It was perfectly coated in a sauce.

Order the acevichado roll, you will not regret it!!! It's my favorite sushi roll in Miami! The crispy rice is amazing as well and everything else we ordered! My friends suggested this place for a happy hour on a Friday evening. I got there a little earlier than they did and sat at the bar and was handed the menu for the Miami Spice month. It looked good, but I really wanted to try the happy hour menu my friends spoke of. So I had to ask for it. My friend arrived shortly after and we ordered drinks from it. The drinks not only were delicious, but also very appealing to the eye. The bartender was a little inattentive. She was on her phone for a long time, and genuinely I really don't care, but I clocked it because we were one of the only group sitting there, and there was two of us, and then there was another person sitting by themselves, and we constantly were trying to have to get her attention. However, a second bartender arrived within 15-20 minutes and really turned the night around. We ordered a lot of sushi off the happy hour menu and all of it was amazing. So overall, this is a solid place for sushi and an adequate place for happy hour.

Beautiful restaurant with a great vibe and fresh food! My friends and I shared the omakase, which was beautifully presented. It was more like a sushi boat vs the omakase one-by-one experience we may be more used to in the area but it wasn't a disappointment considering the presentation. The fish tasted super fresh and I especially loved the roll they included. Diego did a great job, offering helpful suggestions on food quantity in terms of what would be shareable for a party of 4. He was super attentive and offered great suggestions.

Bogo spicy tuna roll on Grubhub? Yes, please! I ordered two along with a miso soup, and it made the perfect meal. The rolls had just the right amount of heat, and the fish tasted incredibly fresh. No complaints here. I'd definitely order again or even stop by in person!

Went for happy hour but it was almost over the server was nice enough to let me order two drinks and appetizers 4mins before happy hour was over. The drinks were very delicious and the ambiance was very nice. Was able to order Acevichado that was 10/10 the flavors burst into your mouth!! As for the Hamachi Jalapeño it was okay I wouldn't order it again it was lacking flavor. Overall it was a great night out.

This was for sure some of the best sushi I have ever had. We made reservations but did not really need them because it was pretty empty on a Sunday night. Service was very fast and we got our food within 20 minutes of being seated. Everything is so fresh and flavorful! Additionally, they have an amazing happy hour until 7pm. 5 pieces of sushi are $8 during the happy hour. they also have a few drink options on there for only $8. I highly recommend anything on the menu and would definitely dine here if you like sushi!

I've been to Paperfish dozens of times since I've moved to Brickell. It's been my go to sushi spot, and have highly recommended it to friends and co-workers to try out (and have previously left 5-star reviews). On Saturday (3/7) we ordered Salmon Furai from Uber Eats, and it arrived with it raw (I wish I had a picture but took it directly in the Uber app for a refund). Never in all our Salmon Furai orders has it been raw, and it is not starred as raw on their menu. I was going to give Paperfish the benefit of the doubt since restaurants can have bad days, but on Sunday (3/8) placed another order for Salmon Furai since we did not get to enjoy Saturdays, and left a comment to please make sure it is cooked. Making sure it is cooked does not mean burning it to a crisp as you can see in the attached photo. I'm not sure if Vida and Estilo is a new food group that bought Paperfish out, but back to back nights with serious food quality issues when I've never previously had an issue is concerning to say the least. Next time, we'll be going to Osaka.

I have been living in miami for 5 years and I had never known about Paperfish - the interior will definitely wow you since it has high ceilings and cherry blossom trees inside. in terms of the food I like other sushi places but the happy menu is worth every penny I would go back again but for happy hour. read more

What a nice surprise. We have lived in this neighborhood for over three years and this was our first time to Paper Fish. The front door is in an ally so you have to look for it. The happy hour is fantastic and the food is fresh. Service was quick and professional. The hand rolls, crispy rice, and lychee martinis were the highlight of the meal. Inside and outside (covered) seating. Very crowded. Seems like tourists know about this place as well. Probably good to make a reservation. Very well decorated. A modern feel with a with classic Japanese twist. Not overly pricy. read more

So freaking good. My friend and I decided to stop here for lunch on a Monday before our flights out that evening and wowwwww we had a blast! The wasabi martinis are everything. The sushi was fresh and I could not get enough of it. We ended our meal with a delicious desert I forget which two we shared because it was a couple weeks ago but everything was 10/10. We sat outside in a nice shaded patio with fans blasting which was nice since it is Miami. The inside looked super cute with cherry blossom trees throughout. The problem with this sushi restaurant is not one of the workers or chefs is japanese. I ordered the uni which was rotten, tasted like a dumpster, maybe even worse than that. Eating the uni resulted in me having food poisoning for two days. The other stuff I had was decent (good ingredients) but prepared very sloppily. They comped me for the uni which was ok, but my whole meal really should have been paid for. The customer service was good and apologetic but doesn't come close to making up for serving someone rotten sea urchin and not letting them eat for free. A japanese sushi chef would have never made this mistake, as they are constantly checking and tasting the different sushi to make sure it is good. I will never be coming back here, it is really just an average sushi restaurant, made to look authentic. read more

This amazing Japanese restaurant is the best place for friends hangout. The food were delicious! Fresh sashimi and sushi, drinks and desserts were also amazing. Paperfish has a bit of a speakeasy feel when you arrive. It takes a minute to find the entrance which is on the backside of a building that fronts S. Miami Ave. Sort of like an alleyway between the building and the longtime Argentinian restaurant on Brickell, Novecento. The later it gets the more Paperfish starts to feel like a club with a DJ pounding his beats into the evening. The noise level can make conversation a bit challenging but it's definitely a fun and energetic spot. First let's talk about the food, which was definitely top-notch. We shared the Omakase as well as the Wagyu Gyoza and Wagyu bao. To be clear what Paperfish calls Omakase is not Omakase. It's really a very good, very high-end sushi boat. The sushi was fresh and inventive. The tiraditos were delicious. For us the highlights clearly were the Maguro with foie and the scallop with truffle nigiri. We had to order extras of both. The one food fail was the "Wagyu" bao, which was to say the least overcooked and was more like a skirt steak. The wine list was small but very good and more than covered the menu. The service was friendly but in true Miami style there were failings. For one, our food took way too long to come out, which may be a result of the fact that they present it basically as a sushi boat instead of a true Omakase experience which is presented by course. Our server was sweet as could be and left few things to criticize, but when it came to presenting a wine bottle, let's just say some training is badly needed. And at the end, our server felt the need to explain how the tip was divided among the staff in an effort to get us to potentially tip more than the automatic 18% which was included on our bill. It just seemed a bit declase. All in all Paperfish is a very fun spot with great sushi and we will definitely be back. read more

Went with two girlfriends on a Sunday evening--overall, drinks and food are delicious. The menu is still limited, what you see online is not what they will offer in-person, but there is still a good variety. They have so many fun cocktails, we tried several and were not disappointed by any. The fish was buttery soft and almost melted in your mouth, we had about four different rolls and three different nigiri--all incredible, highly recommend the acevichado and spicy tuna roll. Food came out quick and drinks took a little longer. Service can be a little slow but we understand that resources are limited because of the pandemic, this was not something we minded! read more

I had a great time because we were not in a hurry and overall the ambience was impeccable. The decor is gorgeous. We had a reservation at 2:15pm for the terrace... 4 people, we waited a few minutes to have a table set up, sat outside and it was breeze. There were two waitress' for the entire restaurant and the waitress took very long to check on us first to take the appetizer order, then to check up on the food. The food was delicious, which balanced out the mediocre service. For a Monday afternoon I was expecting better service, specially for the price of the food items. It is open for its first weekend with a mix of Japanese and Peruvian cuisine. The new restaurant with a cherry blossom tree-lined dining room and a terrace with soft-lit paper lanterns and draping plants is on the corner of South Miami Avenue and 14th Street. Really nice find in the Brickell area of Miami. I was in town for a quick 48-hour work meeting and needed a quick dinner which I usually like to eat sushi. The ordering online was super easy with a comment section for any special needs. I ordered light- a salmon nigiri, rainbow roll, and miso cod bites. All were very good and fresh but my favorite for sure were the miso cod bites with crunchy phylo dough bits on top! I took out but they had a nice outdoor and indoor seating area. read more

It's also the walkway to an actual big restrooms for the whole building. The drinks are VERY pricy but the setting is perfect and makes up for it. Unfortunately, the service was not up to par. Disney priced drinks without the Disney customer service. Do I want to come back? Yes. Am I going to be picky with the vibes coming from the bartender and chose who to go to? Also yes. Hopefully, I can increase the rating.

The mix of flapping gums and mixologists concocting cocktails made for a cacophonous distraction from the actual "music" we were there to "listen" to. My ladyfriend and I ducked out across the street to Black Market Miami Bar where the game was on and you could actually order a drink that didn't cost $50+. After a few libations, we headed back to Miami Sound Machine Bar (they need to put 'Miami' in every bar's name down here in case you forget where you are). There was a weird looking guy playing depressing vinyls with singing in different languages. I was more in the mood for something upbeat and groovy like salsa or merengue that I could dance to with my girls. Although I did hear the 12" Andrew Weatherall remix of Happy Mondays "Hallelujah" at some point, a staple at the Haçienda nightclub in Manchester - an institution that shook the music world and changed club culture forever. The head servant at the bar looked like Nirvana (yes, one man looking like a whole band). He was jaded and rude. I don't blame him! As the night wore on, the crowd got larger and more deplorable, and the room got smaller and smaller. I got stuck in an awkward conversation waiting to use the bathroom. I don't think sound bars are for me. Pros: The bar across the street had really fair drink prices, and the servants are polite and efficient. Cons: the ratchet yuppies that inhabit Miami's nightlife, always on the prowl to ruin a subculture with their tackiness.

Finally visited the highly recommended new sushi spot of brickell. First off, let me say wow the decor is beautiful. The cherry blossoms immediately set the tone. Upon being accommodated at our table I could not helo but to notice how well thought out and organized the table was set and our waitress Melinda greeted us immediately and assisted us in ordering drinks. She basically explained each cocktail to me in which I was impressed and helped me make some great choices. The drinks were spot on. Delicious and picture worthy. The bar manager also came over to see how our drinks came out and I really appreciated the attention. The woman manager came by our table a few times to make sure everything was good. Their attention to detail was impeccable. Moving on to the food, every single plate that we ordered was AMAZING! We ordered several sharing plates and several sushi rolls. Please try the Ishiyaki Del Mar you will not regret it comes with a little fire show and all. Ended my night with the Miso Black Cod... I'm visiting from NYC and came here for my first night in Miami and this place is literally AMAZING!! Exceeded all expectations, the food came out so quickly and everything was so fresh. But my favorite part about the experience was having Joselyne as a server. The moment we sat down she came over and asked about any food allergies and I have some severe allergies, but she was so attentive and mindful of them. I also cannot eat gluten so everything she explained on the menu she explained how to make it gluten free for me so I can still enjoy it and brought out gluten free soy sauce (I didn't even know soy sauce had gluten in it until tonight). She was literally the most mindful about my allergies than any server or restaurant has ever been, so I'm extremely grateful for that!! She greeted, recommended, & served us one of Paperfish's most popular drinks. The Wasabi Martini. We absolutely loved it!!! After our tasteful drinks, we decided to order one of Nathalie's personal favorite dishes, the Misuna accompanied by the Smoked Rocoto Ceviche. We discovered this restaurant yesterday and we all fell in love with it! Chris the manager immediately accommodated us even though it was quite busy, and we didn't have a reservation. we sat at a high table and were able to order from the happy hour many which is fantastic. you cannot beat those prices, especially for the quality of the food! and the drinks Jorge was our server, very nice and knowledgeable. Chris kept checking on us to make sure we were satisfied. the ambience is spectacular, we were having a conversation and at no point. I felt like the noise level was bad. the food was to die for and we loved the cocktail on the menu! One of the best lychee martinis in miami. Definitely not the most high quality fish but still great and not the highest price so it all works out: honestly lost a star because the hostesses were so rude and had so much attitude even though we had a reservation, wouldn't seat us inside (even though we said when we made res that we wanted inside) and they were just rude about. The second I walked in I was greeted with the nicest and most welcoming staff. The scenery was amazing with the Japanese inspired look. Our server Jocelyn was so nice and very bubbly and helpful with any questions we had about the menu. She was on top of attending to us for any refills of our water or if we wanted some more drinks. She hooked us up by talking to chef and letting them know what each of our flavor preferences were so that they could customize the order to our individual taste.
