Are you kidding me? I am not sure how this place got good reviews on Yelp here. Let me start by saying that we are from NYC, and we do have high standards esp for sushi places. However, this place a big NO NO for us. Firstly, the food was just ok. Ok I mean like a good neighborhood sushi takeout. The place you go to when everything else is closed. The drinks are watery and tasteless. Presentation is interesting. As for the service-ZERO stars. We were sitting in a pile of dirty dishes our entire meal. When you ask to clean it up, they will either ignore you or give you that dirty look or attitude. I mean, it is a $200 dinner! Moreover, no one was nice or accommodating. The worst sushi I've ever had in my life, they were inedible! Unfortunately like most Miami restaurants: it's loud, pretty ambience but zero service and terrible food. They should be ashamed to serve this kind of food. I had the omakase and crispy rice tuna. Terrible! Crispy rice tasted old & stale and tuna was not fresh, unseasoned & no dressing. These ppl here in Miami don't know good food. We decided to go here with my wife bc the reviews were pretty good as for this place. Pics looked nice and the decor looked nice too. And, for me, that's where the niceties end. Nice decor...oh and they allowed for our dog to sit on the patio. From the get-go, we were seated but it took them 10 mins for the waitress to get to us and that was only after we asked for service. I'm sure we would've waited longer if we didn't. Our order: App: crispy tuna 4 pieces $16 Crispy rice was a bit tough and over cooked for my liking. Wasn't perfectly crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. They place the tuna on top with no wasabi paste so it fell right off when I tried picking it up with my chopstick. The tuna was BLAND AF! No taste whatsoever. Handrolls: $5 each piece Yellowtail - this was okay according to my wife. Tuna - BLAND AF Main: Wife: Omakase - Chefs Choice. 8 pieces of Nigiri: $21 This is usually a bit of higher end sushi you receive when they say Omakase. But it was literally 3 pieces of salmon, 2 pieces of Tuna and 3 pieces of white fish (I'm not sure bc the person delivering it did not describe what was on the plate). That is not an Omakase. That is some basic ass fish they're calling Omakase. If that's Chef's choice, it's lacking major imagination. See photo (sorry wife ate a few pieces before I got the full dish). But literally what you see on the plate is what you get bc the pieces she ate were no different from what is there. No toro, no uni...etc. it's supposed to be an experience. And this was one that we didn't enjoy. Me: I didn't want to have sushi tonight so I decided to get the Asian Bourbon Chicken with a side of white right (furikake rice). - $15 + $4 Total fail. The waitress gave me my rice when the apps came out. So it just sat there while I waited for my main dish, which was the chicken. So, I had to send it back bc it was cold before I even got my main. So another 7 mins before I get my food while my wife has practically finished all of her food. Now for the main, Asian Bourbon Chicken, this dish is basically a grilled piece of chicken thigh and some teriyaki bourbon sauce on it. Literally, they grilled the chicken and slapped some sauce on it. Chicken was bland bc they did not do any type of marinade prior to serving it (normally there would some type of prep work done for meat and let it marinade for a few hours or a day). So when I ate it, it was like I literally defrosted the chicken myself, put it on a grill and then slapped some sauce on it to give it some flavor and to make it look nice. They should be ashamed to put food out like this. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Fish is supposed to be superior quality and they state this is supposed to be impeccable, the realist, the best bc they dream it up...nah...don't think so! It's a poor mans sushi spot...not really bc you know everything in Miami is expensive but the quality is garbage. I've had better at Costco. So, the overall experience was completely meh. Service lacking (plus they already add 18% gratuity so no need actually work for your tips from a service perspective), imagination lacking, taste lacking, fish quality lacking...really nothing to be desired for us at this place. So sad bc we were really hoping it was going to be a spot my wife and I could frequent but after tonight's experience...can't say that we'll be going back. Oh and also, it's next to Barseco..that place pumps out loud music and if you're going to this place for some nice dinner experience and some decent background sound then this isn't the place for you. Such an amazing experience, everything came out not only beautiful but so fresh and delicious as well. The service was so warm and attentive, I truly felt welcome and taken care of. Everything was nice and pretty reasonably priced for what quality we were being served. The only suggestion I would have is consider flipping the single stall gender-separate bathrooms into two gender-neutral bathrooms for line control and inclusion for our non-binary and gender-fluid folks. read more

Came for a dinner with an old friend with reservations. We were sat within 5 minutes, approached by a server just as quickly who took our orders and our sushi came out in less than 10 minutes! If you're thinking about coming to this place let me tell you .. it's a joke. Keep in mind that when I walked into the restaurant the female bar attender wasn't that friendly in how she greets her guest. We ordered some sushi, some Thai rice bowl, and some drinks. My food came out okay, but small bite size portions, but my husband was disappointed the way his Thai rice came out. It should be noted, the Chef took one piece of shrimp turned it into 1000 pieces to compensate for the rest of the shrimp he cheated him on. This was reported to the waiter who then went back to the chef, later on he came back with more granule/salty shrimp to compensate for the failure . See attached picture! I am not sure if I appreciate so much attention; grabbing empty plates while I am in the middle of a conversation is too much customer service in my opinion. What an experience. Easily one of the top 3 best places for sushi in Brickell. They have an entire side of the menu for nigiri that is truly inspirational and out of the box. The sushi was unfortunately very underwhelming and we ended up regretting choosing this place as our last dinner in MIA. We tried the crispy rice and the paper tuna roll. The crispy rice sushi was not as tasty as it sounds and the paper tuna roll lacked texture. Its mostly how the sushi rice was made, used too much rice vinegar which makes it taste bad and not the right texture. The rice is everything when making sushi. This was my first time at Paperfish and I was so pleasantly surprised with the food. My meal was incredible and everyone in my party thoroughly enjoyed their meal as well. The cocktails were also great. The place is decorated beautifully inside with faux Japanese Cherry Blossom trees along the center of the restaurant. My only complaint was that the hostess were not friendly which is what you expect from people who greet you at a restaurant. We were also seated at a high top table by the bar and I kept getting wet from a small leak in the roof. I definitely would have preferred (and requested) a booth where I wouldn't be rained on during my meal but the hostess were unable to move us.
