Is Papermill authentic? Absolutely not, it's clearly an Asian inspired place by someone who likes Asian food, but is used to non Asian foods. Is Papermill delicious? I'd say so, yes. I've had their Rice Bowls and the Burrito once and they're all pretty solid. They have a solid mix of vegetables that complement the protein at hand. You order at a kiosk, they make your food, and they give it to you -- pretty easy. They're part of the Franklin Table Food Hall amongst all of its other options. What you didn't come here for: - Water: There is a water filter machine in Franklin Table to fill up your water and it does purify the water. - Restrooms: There are wheelchair accessible restrooms for Men & Women. - Accessibility: The entire facility is accessible but only one entrance is accessible and that's the left entrance on Walnut. - Seating: Plenty of seating but the place can fill up quickly anyway during meal times. - Will it fill you up? Yes, though some hungrier folks may say they could use more food, but it should be enough for most. - Dietary Notes: You can remove ingredients from your bowl/meal via the touchscreen kiosks. I went to Northern Liberties night market and wanted to try something I've never tried before. I went with Spurrito, which is basically an overstuffed burrito amount of food wrapped in rice paper. The concept sounds amazing but the execution wasn't. It isn't easy to eat and half my spurrito ended in pieces. The rice paper is also too chewy. Hungry enough to just eat a half-eaten apple in the trash, I barely made it to Papermill without collapsing of famish. Ready for any meal, my friend and I ordered the burritos, chicken and beef respectively. Set in Franklin's Table, a crowded and busy food court, we got our order in 5 minutes and immediately sat down to dig in. Surprised by the rice paper that wrapped the veggies and protein inside, I quickly took a bite in order to get a first taste of what my friend described as "a healthy and filling meal". Pouring in the spicy sauce and peanut sauce they give you on the side, I was left disappointed by the lack of distribution of the beef in the burrito. Concentrated in the middle, the meat never really delivered in terms of taste or texture, being both dry and tasteless. The redeeming factor of this meal was the novel rice paper method of delivery, almost being just a mega spring roll. The choice of vegetables made the burrito crunchy and filling, but it was still a small burrito for the price of 12 dollars. My mind was empty and my tummy was running the show. I recently ordered a Fiery Vegan spurrito (spring roll burrito) to go after hearing good things about Papermill. I had passed by a few times while frequenting other places at Franklin's Table, and always observed a friendly vibe (the decor is also pretty cool). Selecting my order and paying on one of the available tablets took less than a minute (including the times spent signing up for their rewards program which I can never say no to!) My order was ready within five minutes, and though my interaction with the workers was limited to a short exchange with a nice lady handing off my order, she was super courteous (smile, "thank you!" & "have a great day!") which felt above and beyond the ucity standard! The roll was fresh and incredibly tasty- soft, moist, full of crunchy veggies, warm spongy tofu, and chewy rice paper. The stretchiness of the paper does make the roll slightly more likely to fall apart near the end compared to a traditional burrito, but I ordered mine cut in half (no extra cost) and the wax paper each half was nestled in made the ends easy enough to eat mess-free with chopsticks. I got the gochujang sauce (so yummy!) and the peanut sauce (a little too sugary for me) which were easy to pour on the cross-section of the spurrito (the containers are probably too small to dip the whole thing in). Sauces (2) & whatever chopsticks/forks/napkins you might need are all free, and the spurrito was about $12 (felt OK about it, considering the freshness, deliciousness, & portion size). I like burritos and I like spring rolls, so it's a no brainer that I liked the Spurrito. It's basically a "fresh spring roll burrito wrapped in rice paper". I ordered the Sweet Hoisin Pulled Pork Spurrito($9.75) to-go and watched as they put it together with care. Check out the creative packaging, too, because it appears to be a nod towards the shop's Aussie/Philly origins. Grab a couple napkins, because the pork spurrito is not only crisp and tasty, but also slightly on the oily side (probably bc the rice paper don't absorb as much as a tortilla). I only noticed while unsticking the rice paper from the packaging, so again it's only alittle but enough to notice on my fingers. However, the tangy thai basil vinaigrette cuts right through the rich pork fat and pairs very nicely! If you want a less hands on meal, the spurrito bowls are equally as delicious and I LOVE that they mix everything up for you. I ordered the hoisin pork sliders. It came out very fast, but the food was incredibly greasy. The bun and the box the dish came in were soaked in oil. The sliders themselves were pretty good, sweet and savory and nutty. However, the spicy peanut sauce was not spicy at all. The first time tried this food truck was at a Cinco de Mayo food truck festival in Philadelphia and instantly fell in love with the food. As soon as I started planning for my wedding, I knew I wanted a food truck and I reached out to Papermill! From day one, the communication between Alex and Jake was quick and easy and the prices were right on budget. We decided on a day to meet with them, where they were serving their food, to do a tasting menu so we could pick what we wanted for our wedding. It was a hard choice because everything they gave us was delicious! Fast forward to our wedding day, most of our guest never tried food like this and it was unanimous, they loved it! Our wedding was about 1.5h away from Philadelphia and my husband and I (as well as my wedding party) were pretty busy on the day of, but they arrived on time and started to setup. They were very friendly to our guests and at the end of the night, they packed up whatever food was left over. This was such a fantastic experience and if I had to do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing!! If anyone is interested in a food truck for any type of event I HIGHLY recommend this food truck!! Never coming back - Went to the Franklin's Table location to try them out for the first time. Horrendous service. Literally have had zero contact with the employee (I ordered online and had zero questions or requests) so why be rude and snarky to people for no reason? Convenient pick up spot located near UPenn serving sushi-burritos and Asian inspired bowls. Portion size was decent, could not finish the entire spurrito. Guacamole was delicious and probably the highlight of the entire meal. To-Go containers were packed well and order was quickly finished. Lemongrass chicken was light and flavorful with green apples breaking up the heartiness. The Pork Fiesta was merely ok, nothing to write home about however the pineapple salsa elevated it. Food is great and fresh, but the 1-star review is for this locations horrible customer service. Twice I have attempted to order from here by phone due to covid pandemic, but the person answering the phone was rude and refused to take my order. I had attempted to order through their website, but the website was down and couldn't let me put my order through. I explained the situation to the person on the phone, but they refused to take a phone order, insisting they only took orders from the website.
