Very cute little spot with a Banana Pickup Window, bright interior with the classic ice cream counter full of choices, and a couple picnic tables outside to enjoy our treats. The staff were friendly. The ice cream was good in terms of flavors, perhaps a bit lighter than expected. Think more light and frozen yogurt feeling than creamy decadent ice cream. Price was a bit high but fair. We had a fabulous experience at Penny's. We found it on Yelp and it had great reviews. It's a little hard to find because it's small and in a little shopping center, but it was really, really great. They have some really interesting flavors, and it's run by people who are actually chefs. They have a friend of theirs who is just a fabulous person helping out by serving the ice cream, and she is just nice as can be. She was asking us questions and telling us about her travels. You can taste as many flavors as you want, and it was really fun. The highlights were the brown butter cookie dough, the peanut butter kitchen sink, and the mango sorbet. Probably my favorite dessert I had on the island. I'm a sucker for a warm melty dessert paired with a cold creamy ice cream, so their Banana bread sundae hit the spot. The warm banana bread topped with fudge and whipped cream and their delicious cookie dough ice cream was my ideal combo. My family also enjoyed it and a chocolate dipped banana. I discovered this place when I decided to give up waiting for a cinnamon roll at its very, very popular neighbor. I wish I had given up on the wait a lot sooner! First of all, after a long wait, there's nothing so nice as...not waiting. The woman behind the counter at Penny's was welcoming and friendly and as almost a protest to the unsuccessful wait for the cinnamon roll, I got a nutritious breakfast sandwich instead. An everything bagel freshly baked, with 2 eggs, Muenster cheese, and thick-cut bacon. Yum! Really delicious! And filling! And from the comfortable table and chairs outside the takeout window called Banana Window, I chilled and looked at the slow-moving line at the famous neighbor. Great local Ohana owned ice cream shop, run by two local chefs who worked at high end restaurants and decided to make and sell homemade ice cream, all fresh, with no preservatives or colouring. Locally sourced ingredients where possible too. With that commitment to their product you know you are going to have a delicious ice cream. They also make banana splits with their ice cream, coffees including a banana latte and affogato, home bake the ubiquitous yet delicious Hawaiian banana bread, and they also sell bagel breakfast sandwiches too. Sounds yummy to me! Breakfast, treats, and dessert! There is a car parking area to the side (where the little shanty selling clothing is), and it is walking distance from a lot of hotels and condos in the area. Lots of seating space outside and free samples inside with a friendly smile. Hubbs chose the lemon blueberry ice cream today, and was impressed with the sweetness of the ice cream being cut by the tart fruity flavours. Very creamy, yet refreshing. Unusual flavours such as Mango Sticky Rice blend well with the usual favourites. Add in homemade waffle cones and it is a recipe for success. Definitely a place you want to stop by and visit. The best coffee and banana bread I've had! Please skip the line at Papi's and come here instead. Maya was so friendly and helpful. She allowed us to taste any ice creams we wanted, helped with coffee recommendations, and was super sweet. The banana bread latte was AMAZING!!! They make all their syrups themselves, and it really shows. Not too sweet at all, and the banana taste was not overpowering. 10/10. The actual slice of banana bread we got was out of this world. Seriously better than I have ever had in my entire life. There is this crunch on top that makes it unique. I could've eaten a whole pan of it. Make sure to get it toasted, per Maya's advice! My brother got chocolate peanut butter ice cream on the waffle cone. He normally leaves ice cream, and he ate everything. It was melting quickly, which means they don't use any weird ingredients. 10/10 recommend. During our trip, we also had the açaí bowls which were sooo good. The actual base was so tasty and sweet. And the fruit and granola tasted to fresh. Was topped with banana, kiwi, strawberry, blueberries, honey, and granola. Please try!! I have been to Maui many, many times. It is always a struggle to find a good cup of coffee. Just be patient when ordering, as they usually just have 2 people behind the counter. My family was too excited and started eating before I could capture photos. I found Penny's Ice Cream Parlor & Cafe on Yelp when I was searching for an açaí bowl. This spot is super fresh, having only opened seven weeks ago, right next to Papi Ohana's. The place is absolutely adorable. I instantly loved the branding: their logo features a whale with an ice cream cone horn (nearly giving narwhal vibes) and a Hawaiian plumeria flower. And the little banana window is super cute too! The service was definitely a highlight. The man working, who I assume is the owner, was so kind and offered free samples to several people passing by. Their ice cream is really good, made with local ingredients. I tried both the Meyer Lemon and the Brown Butter Cookie Dough. For my order, I got the Hawaiian Sea Salt Caramel Latte iced with coconut milk. The coffee was incredibly smooth. I also ordered the Açaí Bowl. It came loaded with bananas, blueberries, strawberries, and kiwi. The texture and flavor of the açaí base were perfect. Just a heads up for others: the granola does contain nuts. It was good, but I would personally prefer a nut free option. There is tons of outdoor seating, including high top tables out front and picnic sets with umbrellas on the side. This is a must visit for a treat in Lahaina. Highly recommend giving it a try! read more

It's run by an amazing couple who actually live upstairs, and you can feel the family-owned atmosphere the moment you walk in. Their daughters are often around, which just adds to the warm, lived-in charm of the place. Both owners are chefs who left big hotel jobs to build this spot, and it shows in the quality and care they put into the food. My personal obsession: the banana latte. I had one almost every morning, and it was incredible. My wife loved the house-made açaí bowl, and later we brought the kids back for ice cream. The homemade waffle cones (yes, made from scratch) were next-level. If you're looking for a spot that has heart, great food, and real Maui character, you'll find it here.
