Wow, my mouth is still watering after a late lunch. Pappadeauxs has been a special place in my heart and I guess my stomach as well. First time I went was with my new husband and my parents. My parents live in Hurst Texas and my husband and I lived in Hawaii. We had come to visit my family and have my new husband meet my parents. They didn't come to our wedding as we had decided to save money, and help my big extended family from spending their savings on a trip to a Hawaiian wedding. Instead we had a simple wedding and so we flew to Texas for a celebration. My parents liked to host a lot of family get together, events like birthdays, anniversaries, and moving into town. They would often celebrate their own wedding anniversary at places like Pappadeauxs. So jump ahead 33 years for my husband and myself and 62 years between my parents I'm in town after buying a house to move closer to my aging mother, two sisters still living, a handful of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and all the extra adoptive strays that have joined the family. I'm trying desperately to keep things on the down-low, not wanting my family to know I have finally bought a home and by Christmas will be the newest resident of Hurst. I just had to stop in for a meal before heading home to start the packing. I love all seafood and oysters included. I was going to order half a dozen raw, but my server talked up the new Parmesan crusted cooked oyster and I was battling my growing hunger so I ordered both. The raw comes with three dipping sauces but I'm a big fan of old school horseradish and cocktail sauce. The shucker got carried away and I ended up with a couple of extras, no complaints. The oysters were big fat juicy ones so a few extras were ok with me. The Parmesan crusted were same size, big and fat, the crusted cheese was a delightful bite especially with garlic bread my server had also told me about and I had upgraded. Soaking up the juices with that toasted garlic bread just was a great start to my meal. On the cocktail menu I spotted a guava banana Mia Ti that I just had to order. It was early afternoon and I was delighted with the bump in alcohol. It came with two slices of dehydrated banana's that was eagerly trying to soak up the guava and alcohol they floated in. I ordered the wild caught red snapper white fish, one of my favorite fishes, served grilled with lumps of jumbo crab in butter, lemon juice, spinach and thinly toasted almonds. It was cooked absolutely perfect, just melted in the mouth, not mushy but flaky and the lemon and butter flavors soaking each bite, thinking about is still making my mouth water! I had a wonderful meal, filled with many memories while making new ones. This past year has been hard, I lost my husband almost a year ago then going back and forth trying to decide if I wanted to sell my home that I had spent many a good times with my beloved husband. Decisions finally made, I can now look forward to making new ones with all the family I still have living. Pappadeauxs is a great place to enjoy some good Cajun seafood with wonderful service and a place that I hope will continue to create new memories for me as well as my family.

In Texas on business and stopped by with a colleague to try this spot out. Not the biggest seafood fan, so I ended up going with a medium rare Filet Mignon Oscar and it was a good choice! Along with that we ended up getting some Alligator nuggets & oysters. Would definitely recommend the alligator nuggets. Overall it was a pleasant experience with very cozy vibes and knowledgeable staff. Would definitely come back. It is on the pricey side so be ready to spend a little extra

Delicious food, horrible service. Great interior and very clean. Was immediately sat at a table, here's where it goes down hill. It took 15 minutes for our waitress to even say hello another waitress noticed we didn't have drinks or menus and stopped to help our waitress appeared with our drinks later and no apology for taking so long. She came to check on us without flagging her down 1 time. Thankfully the food is delicious. I'll get a to go order next time.

The frozen red snapper smelled awful and was so fishy. Ut was pink through out. The baked potato was good, but for $45 I can eat elsewhere.

    Seafood Cobb salad

This was a Togo order my husband did today. Y'all really charged $30+ for this seafood Cobb salad? It was 1/4 of iceberg lettuce. What happened to the premium spring mix and lettuce. No salad dressing in bag. It looked a hot mess and definitely not up to the pappadeaux standards.

    She was awesome! Thank you!!!

Shout out to our amazing server! I forgot her name but we definitely got a picture! She was super attentive, refilled our drinks and told us what she liked and didn't liked! First time trying the pasta seafood tagliatelle and it was fire!!!! So much seafood and octopus! What???? It was worth every bite 10/10!

After a long day at work I came to Pappadeaux for their delicious seafood cob salad. I ordered the crab spinach dip for an appetizer. The creamy dip with a crunchy toast is so good. The life's a peach cocktail was perfect for me. Sweet and light and chilled. You can't go wrong with the seafood salad with the Greek vinaigrette is the best choice for salad dressing. I sat at the bar and my service was great. I didn't have any complaints.

He was super helpful and even let us try different dressings for our salads. There was this super anal retentive Mario that was a server also....his section was geometrically perfect, totally fung Shuy'd out and precise to the millimeter. You could look down the rows of tables and they all were in a row and perfect. Because why not, I moved a tent out of line. For payback, I asked for a short beer and got this. Love it and touche.

It is dog approved, and they even have options for your best friend. It is mostly your typical american food options, and then they throw in like a Thai noodle bowl, or Korean fried chicken bao buns. I think they try too much. Also, we have legit Korean and Thai restaurants in the metroplex, I wonder who is coming here for their pad thai? Someone must be. I do think they do some things really well. They change their menu seasonally, and I have had some really good and interesting salads. They have a decent happy hour and the service is friendly. I think the kitchen can be inconsistent. Sometimes really good, sometimes mediocre. But again I think that is just them doing too much. A jack of all trades is a master of none.

Low value and chintzy earns Captain D's my "NOT Recommended" designation…read more I recognize that this location just recently opened, but the employees were clearly overwhelmed and under trained. At lunch time I would expect adequate staffing, especially immediately after their grand opening. This restaurant's food service fell well short of expectations. The food was poor quality at premium prices. The fish fillets tasted similar to Long John Silvers, but at a fraction of the size. The hush puppies were traditional. Unfortunately, I can't find anything complimentary to say about anything else. The stuffed crab was tiny and pasty. The shrimps were shrimpy, as in small, and over cooked. The fried okra was soggy, and the corn on the cob looked like it may have been cooked last week. But, none of that gets under my skin as quickly as doling out ketchup a few tiny squeeze packages at a time as though it's a rare and valuable commodity. It's a freakin condiment for pete's sake! To top it all off, I had one order made to go, and we found out much later that it wasn't made correctly. The ambiance is a smart and clean fast food restaurant with limited seating. It appears to seat maybe 25 customers. As cramped as the dining area is, it appears that the service and kitchen area is even worse. I'm not sure what they were trying to accomplish by restricting the footprint like that. So, my experience at Captain D's fell well short of a earning my recommendation and continued patronage. In my opinion the word "chintzy" best describes every aspect of this restaurant.
