The waitress was very nice and patient. We got are food relatively quickly. They were also kinda funny which's sets the mood. However the place was kinda dirty which will knock off half a star. And I wish they gave more shrimp which will do the other half of the star. Now I got the rainbow trout and shrimp. The shrimp was very savory and delicious and they were quite big. And the trout was huge and it had a bit of a crisp to it. I really enjoyed the skin. But the meat was also very good. It was all seasoned well. I also got the sour water melon lemonade. The class is quite big and they don't give too much ice. You can really taste the sour watermelon and it is sweet. So if you have a sweet tooth like me then you will like this. I also got to try out the shrimp and crawfish fondue. I never had it before but I know that I love the cheese along with the crawfish and shrimp giving some savory to the bread. Long day in the area. Called to see if they still had happy hour. Yes 3-6. We got there about 4 & the bar was empty. We both ordered a house red wine, some food of the happy hour menu & another drink. Payed the bill, tipped 20% & left. Got to thinking the next day that it seemed kind of high for happy hour. Came to Texas to visit my daughter. My visit would have not been complete without having a meal at Pappadeaux. The house salad was fantastic. No scrimping on the tomatoes (which a lot of restaurants do these days). Was actually full after finishing my salad. We purchased two seafood platters for 3 people and could not finish all the food. Everything was seasoned perfectly. Oh, the stuffed crab and shrimp were delicious. The balked potatoes was HUGE. Could not even finish 1/2 of the potato. There was only one employee who wasn't a joy to interact with (an unpleasant Hostess), everyone else was great!. Grew up in the heart of the Miss Delta right off the river itself. This evenings supper was a touch of that humble childhood. Pappadeaux Seafood is po folks grub. The menu is mainly those things we poor folks in the deep south could drag out of the river, a swamp, or pond on fishing line, string, nets or with our hands and a gig (3 or 4 pronged spear. If it didn't crawl away or swim away from us fast enough, it was going in hot grease, or a boiling pot. I grew up next to a large 12 foot drainage ditch. Often we only needed string and a piece of salt pork to get dinner. Well Pappadeaux classed it all up on how we catch it, but the flavors are the same as when we would catch it ourselves. Walking in this place, it is kinda southern class, southern charming and along with that is the kind of service you expect from hospitable folks. I swear, our server (Trinity P.) was on fire. She doted on us, but also on all tables in her area. She was human fire. You could tell she was smiling even though she wore a mask. Her eyes were lit up, kind, and said, we are in this meal experience together. Did not miss a step. Any restaurant that tries to hit me with the staff shortage stuff, try again. This place was humming with Mardi Gras spirit and it was well staffed for the occasion. Bread came out with this soft, creamy whipped butter. The loaf was lightly crusted on the outside so that it looked like hard french bread, but it was sooooo soft inside. Like a warm bread blanket you want to crawl into and eat your way out. It's a bread onesie, with butter for your mouth. The house salad was so much goodness. Candied bacon. Yes. Chunks of thick cut candied bacon. Red onions, sharp cheddar, everything your last salad wanted to be when it grew up. Split it for two people. Both of you will be delighted to find it is more than enough. Ordered a sampler with fried skrimps (told you I am from the Sip) we say skrimps. Catfish, chicken tenders, fries. The mudbugs were so delicate. I wanted not to eat them, but to take them home, and just savor looking at them. They made it home with me. In my belly. All of the choices were perfectly executed as good as traditional southern technique as I could have done in my backyard in Greenville with a cast iron and open fire. That good. Not as fishy as coming out of Lake Ferguson, but still pretty close. Anyway. Ask for Trinity P. Don't think any servers were lagging, but she truly made the night go by with precision, and awesomeness of a southern Belle. Not my first time this location. Not my last. In Closing. Just remember there are folks in our nation hungry, and a world away, a war raging and creating more of us that are going to go hungry if we here, able to Yelp and review our last belly full, then donate meals for others. I sat down with my parents and cousins and I ordered a drink, the waiter checked my ID and then later brought the manager over who stared me down like she didn't believe I was over 21. What is this? I ordered the strawberry mangeaux frozen drink which was very good! The only problem is that is was half ice/half frozen. It just didn't mix well. As an appetizer, we ordered the mozzarella bites. They were really good!! We contemplated ordering a second helping. Lol For my main course I ordered the catfish filets which were HUGE! If I had known how big they were, I would have ordered three for sure. The great thing is that they came out piping hot! However, they were flavorless. I was so disappointed in the lack of seasoning. The food is always good, always and this has always been my favorite location but I brought my mom to lunch today. 35 min wait time during lunch although there's there's a shit ton of tables avail. Maybe they didn't have enough staff, not sure but it was pretty bad. They sent at least 20 people away while we were waiting and if you think about that each meal is at least $20-30, appetizers, drinks...that's $600-$1000 or more that was sent away all in 20 mins. The first shock was when we had 9 people for lunch and they said the wait would be 1 hour and 45 minutes. With that 2 people decided to leave. Now that we were 7 they could seat us immediately. We went for a birthday dinner with 7 of our friends. They sat us back to back with another large party in the area just to the right of the hostess stand. Everytime anyone be it patron or staff passed my chair it was struck and one time a patron smacked the back of my head with her backpack. Our guests sitting on the wall pulled the table towards them which worked until the food arrived. They then had no elbow room. Our waitress, Marquita, was really o. Top of things in the beginning bringing drinks fairly quickly and getting our orders in. We had two friends arrive late but she took our orders at the same time. When the food arrived our friends didnt get their food for 20 additional minutes after ours arrived. My trout and shrimp was just swimming in butter. So much so that it really wasn't pleasant to eat. The spinach was terrible. Way to much garlic. Believe me I'm a garlic lover but the huge chunks were too much. My husband loved his salad but he didnt eat but halve of the gumbo as the shrimp still had parts of the tail shell on them. Our waitress was MIA for the last part of our meal with some of us wanting drink refills after having dessert. This place always disappoints with it's high prices but we didnt want to disappoint our friends so we tried to find something on the menu we could live with it. Had a layover and decided to try Pappadeaux for the first time and it was delicious! 10 out of 10. Not only was the food delicious but the environment was clean and spaced out. They were super accommodating and allowed us to switch some items around in our meal. It has been a long time since we have been to Pappadeaux and we decided this is were we wanted to go for our date night. Wait time was about 5 minutes on a Friday night which is absolutely amazing. We were seated in a nice comfortable big booth just for the two of us. Our waitress was super friendly and kept those drinks coming. We had a Bayou Blue Hawaiian and Pineapple Refresher for a cocktail and these both tasted great. We always start off with the Crab and Spinach dip because it is truly the best thing ever, perfectly cheesy and packed with flavor. For my meal I had the Alaskan King Crab. This is my go to meal when I come here but unfortunately inflation is killing businesses as well so the price of the king crab has gone up from what used to be $59 to $99. While the price is not going to stop me from getting this meal again, I do expect to get a good portion for the price. Pappadeaux did not disappoint their Alaskan King crab had a lot of meat, enough for me to share with my hubby. I wore my bib the whole time and I am so glad I did. I got my meal with a side of french fries because their linguine pasta tasted weird to me last time. The fries however were on point. My husband had the Red snapper and shrimp, which he mentioned was really good. He kept raving about how good the salad was he got with it.
