I had tried this place years ago and was willing to give it a try today and boy am I disappointed. Ordered the 1lb shrimp boil + potatoes+ sausage and added a 1b of crawfish. My boyfriend ordered the catfish plate + rice + corn. I opened my bag and grabbed a potato and dipped it in the sauce- and ehh something was off. There was a taste of lingering grease. I then grabbed a crawfish and pulled the little guy apart and proceeded to dip it again and it wasn't all that. The shrimp was chewy as hell. The only thing that was somewhat bearable was the sausage. My boyfriend's catfish was over cooked- ends really crispy (no sign on fish) and the rice was overcooked. This was absolutely an amazing spontaneous midnight idea, didn't think I could do a seafood boil so late. Got the "Date Night" with the kitchen sink sauce in medium. I should've gotten hot but it's okay. Was it the best seafood boil I've had? Not necessarily. But was it the best seafood boil at midnight?? Absolutely. The food and service was great here! We got their Captain special with the kitchen sink sauce which is a combination sauce and it was good. Wished there was more crab but overalls filled with so much flavors. Being out of town and trying seafood here it was super good, their service was so amazing. Our server so so attentive. How am I just now finding this gem! The flavor of the boil was amazing, loved the hush puppies! Our waitress was so kind and explained their flavors for the boil. We got there right at opening and they quickly filled up which told me people enjoyed it. TVs everywhere and great music playing. Had the grilled with broccoli and rice and one pound of snow crab legs. Shrimp plate was not very good, shrimp was overcooked, rice and broccoli were cold. Crab legs were very good ! Served hot with "kitchen sink" sauce. I would've sent the shrimp back but never got a follow up from the waiter. Wait service was friendly but not very good. Dining area was attractive and clean. I go here for my birthday every year 1/31 and I enjoy the food so much! If the weather lets us we'll be there this Saturday to celebrate!!

First of all, the crab stuffed tater tots are sooooo freakin good!! Like I could've just ordered two of those as my meal and I would've been good. The spinach dip is also solid. I ordered dungeoness crab with the kitchen sink seasoning for my entree with corn and two eggs and it was delicious! Our server Cornelius was the best!! He was very personable. M and I stopped in for an early dinner and enjoyed the VIP, which comes with 2 clusters of snow crab, 1 lb of shrimp, 2 corn, 3 potatoes, and 3 sausages. The 3 sausages should probably be clarified to say pieces of sausage. You can see how they look in the attached photo. It also was not my favorite type of sausage. Having said that, everything else was delicious. The crab had a good amount of meat. The shrimp was good size and relatively easy to peel. The corn was sweet, and the potatoes were a nice break from the more heavily seasoned bites. I am not sure if this was because we went with the Kitchen Sink sauce, but the sauce was quite salty. With my first shrimp, I rubbed my peeled shrimp in more sauce and regretted it. If I just peeled it and ate it, it was much better. The saltiness was less of a problem with the crab. I really enjoyed the snow crab. It's pricy but not as bad as you'd think, especially if you share. We might try and take advantage of the specials now that we know about them. read more

I asked if those was queen and server was stated it was queen. I felt really taken advantage of. My whole ordered was made incorrectly. Went there last evening: My catfish was not good. They cut the catfish filet into such a thin piece that the meat is just as thick as the breading. It is tough to eat and I couldn't tell there was any fish in what I was chewing. My wife's meal, snow crab legs, was much smaller than it used to be. They are apparently buying smaller crabs than before in order to reduce their costs. read more

I've been to this place way too many times and it's unfortunate that today I have to leave a bad review and possibly no longer eat here. While enjoying the Tuesday meal deal I FOUND A LONG ASS HAIR WRAPPED INTO THE CRAB I ordered. Of course I wanted to not believe it was a hair in my food but it was. I expressed this to my server and she kind of hesitated before taking the food away and processing the hair that was found. The manager came over not really concerned about my find but provided a solution by redoing my order. My new food was brought out and it was half way done, I was missing my corn and potatoes I originally ordered - again requested it and the server basically gave me "ah you wanted that too." and Yes I do want that too that's what I originally ordered before hair was found in my food. I ate and asked for my check once I was done. I'm not going to lie I expected compensation after my discovery but there was none. I asked the server and she said she had to ask the manager because he already brought me out new food. And as a person who's worked in customer service when your customer is unhappy with the service provided due to a mishap like finding hair in her food you would make sure that customer was happy leaving out your establishment. INSTEAD I am upset, the manager came over and argued with me basically saying it wasn't their fault hair was found in my food and that it wasn't their fault and the hair was from the ceiling. Now first and foremost why would you not admit fault for the action that took place and secondly how are you blaming everyone else but the problem at hand. Your cooks are not wearing hair nets and are handling food. Your cooks are not using proper food and restaurant etiquette for there to be mysterious hair flying around in ceilings of your establishment. The manager was not nice and told me that I received enough compensation by getting my meal replaced when in reality I should have never had to have my food replace which means THERE SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN HAIR IN THE FOOD SO THAT MY FOOD WOULDNT HAVE TO BE REORDED. And once I expressed that I didn't appreciate his customer service and how he handled the situation and for that I wouldn't be returning he said it would be on me to not return. Shell Shack you have disappointed me. And although me no longer coming to this establishment may not stop your terrible business I hope there is some training provided to your management team as well as your staff learning how to use proper food handling etiquette and better customer service skills. read more
