Love Pappadeaux! Was leaving Houston and I had a long layover. I usually love to visit the restaurant when I'm in town but unfortunately has no time so I was super excited to try this location in the airport. Took the train over and was promptly sat when I entered. The menu is pretty extensive but I ordered the chicken and shrimp with French fries when a side of the dirty rice. Portions were huge and delicious. I was able to take some home back with me when I was boarding my plan. Even though it's in the airport, the restaurant has a family feel to it. Stopped by Pappadeaux at Houston Intercontinental Airport and sat at the bar area (open seating). The vibe was really nice low lighting, dark furniture, and old school Motown playing in the background. Definitely a cool, relaxed atmosphere, especially for an airport spot. I was seated right away and greeted quickly. I ordered the crawfish étouffée and added a side of catfish. The catfish was really good, seasoned well, crispy, and came with tartar sauce and ketchup. The étouffée was a solid portion with plenty of crawfish and rice. I do think it could've used a little more seasoning, but still a good dish overall. Only downside was the service after ordering, it was a bit hard to get my waitress's attention, and I had to wait to order a coke. Dinner portion was large so we shared one dinner plus a soup (Seafood Gumbo) and salad. Our waiter was great. We asked what type of lettuce was in the house salad and she confirmed it had iceberg. She offered to get us the Caesar salad lettuce (romaine) with the house salad toppings. Salad was big and perfectly sized to share. First of all, I love pappadeaux's. I always go to it at least once if not twice whenever in Houston or Dallas However, it's clear when i order the catfish sandwhich the bread is softer and much better in Dallas area. And the way it is prepared in Dallas area is better (especially the airport since that's where i get it the most). Pappadeux's should make this happen in Houston. I even went to it again earlier this week, and it's just not the same. Also how it's served is different. I think the staff and service are great, and one waitress got it much closer. Note: Ask for the catfish sandwhich in a circular soft bread. It's as close as you're going to get to the way it should be done. The bread reminds me of the bread in Dallas, compared to Houston. And ask for tartar sauce on the sandwhich, and not the thousand island with coleslaw, as that's what makes it served differently as well. Again, not the employees fault, it's the designers of the menu that should get this right. But at least there's a workaround slightly to this. Thanks servers at Pappadeaux Houston airport. Had a great dining experience with Kingston as our server. Since we were at an airport location, wasn't too sure what to expect in terms of both food and service. Service: Kingston was phenomenal. Very customer focused and kept checking on us frequently. He even went out of his way to find the close beer to Ebita. When the music was too loud, he turned it down for us. Easily more than 95 percent of the ones I've tried, I have regretted ordering. This dish was phenomenal. Not too heavy or salty either. Seafood gumbo: the only dish that was less than stellar. I, intentionally, made my layover through IAH, so I could try the crawfish platter. The fried crawfish with cocktail sauce was tasty, but I was underwhelmed by the crawfish étouffée. My first time trying Pappadeaux during my visit to Houston. The service was excellent and the location is a level above the busy airport area. I sat at the bar and got myself a drink while I waited for my food. I paid $27 before tip just for this little cup of gumbo and a beer... while the gumbo was indeed delicious, it was certainly overpriced... good thing I was craving it hard enough to go to the other side of the airport lol. It had been awhile since i last ate at a Pappadeaux so I decided to get a to go order for my plane ride home. This was the first visit to the Pappadeaux inside IAH. It was located upstairs by gate E4. It was smaller than their typical restaurant but served up most of their top Cajun food offerings. Prices were a bit higher unfortunately but expected inside the airport. To go orders were taken at a separate window by the kitchen. I ordered my favorite crawfish etouffee with dirty rice (instead of the standard white) and only had to wait around fifteen minutes. It came in a plastic to go container that was quite large. The crawfish was plentiful and meaty in a rich gravy with a buttery taste. I prefer dirty rice since it's so much more flavorful with ground beef and spices. It was a filling meal that satisfied my Cajun cravings that day. I always hope Pappadeaux will one day open a location in California so I don't have to travel so far! read more

On a recent trip we had a layover at IAH. My first thought was to make a B-line over to Pappadeaux's for some of that down-home goodness. I happened to be on a pretty restrictive diet at the time, but that was not an issue at all. The staff were very patient and even went back to the kitchen to confirm some things. This restaurant is inside the IAH airport and after you go through security. Due to the construction it was challenging to navigate how to reach the location. Once you find it you will take the elevator to the restaurant floor where you will be greeted by hostesses. Service: 10/10 Our server was great. My son and I were awaiting to board our plane and was looking for something to eat for lunch. You have to go up on the elevator or stairs to get to the restaurant and there's a menu before entering, mind you there are no prices listed until you get seated and receive an actual menu. When we arrived we were greeted right away and seated shortly after a party that arrived prior to us. We were asked when our flight was leaving and overheard it's a common question they ask. I felt it was nice that they didn't want to delay customers if it became an issue for them. I ordered the shrimp Po-boy and my son ordered a salmon burger. I ordered a half/half sweetened/unsweetened tea (I know, blasphemy) and a Chopped Salad with Fried Crawfish. Here is the description of the salad from their website - Mixed greens with tomatoes, egg, honey bacon, red onion, avocado, aged cheddar & Jack cheese with creamy vinaigrette. What they don't tell you is this thing is massive. Every component is fresh and delicious, but special shout out to the amount of avocado (half a large avocado), the honey bacon (cooked perfectly), and the creamy vinaigrette on the side. How is creamy vinaigrette not more of a thing? Delicious. Fried Crawfish - plentiful, lightly battered, tender on the inside. Two thumbs up. Staff here is very attentive, but relaxed. Love the atmosphere here. If you're looking for a great meal (not just by airport standards), I'd recommend giving Pappadeaux a try. I do really like this place, but I'm not happy with the way this is shown on Yelp for this location. This one is IN THE AIRPORT! So, if you are staying close to the airport and find it on Yelp and plan to eat there, it better be on the day you are flying out, because it is on the other side of security.
