I always have a great experience when I go to Pappadeaux, however, my latest trip left much to be desired... First off, my favorite dish there are the crab fingers and typically I call ahead to ensure that they have them but this time I didn't. I don't know why such a popular item was taken off of the menu and if you don't know to ask for them, well, you're SOL! Anyway, for my appetizer, I ordered the calamari and octopus... I've been eating calamari since I was a kid in Panama and this was the toughest and chewiest I've ever had. I even returned it and the replacement was just as bad. Finally, I figured that I couldn't go wrong with the seafood salad. Boy was I wrong... How do you mess up salad???!!! First off, I guess it was my fault for not having ordered the salad in the past year, so I didn't know they changed it. Now there's a 1/2 block of lettuce with four shrimp and what looked like a tablespoon of crabmeat. All of the other ingredients were nicely arranged in the bowl. This is totally NOT the shrimp and crab salad I've ordered for years! Why do I have to cut up a block of lettuce and then put the salad together????!!!! This was ridiculous!!! I guess since the price was lowered, so was the quality of the salad. I normally pay 40.00 for this particular salad but now the cost is 29.99. Who cares???!!!! Bring back the old style!!!! The same thing with the crab fingers!!!! It's like going to a chicken restaurant and they're out of chicken!!!! My server, however, was on point and professional. read more

My wife and I are regulars to Pappadeax, we have dined at many all over Texas, but tonight was different. I have worked and managed in restaurants for over 20 years and done it all from serve and bartend, to working wood burning grills, sauté and now I am a GM. Eric T. Was one of the most fantastic servers I have ever had the absolute pleasure of dining with. His attention to detail, professionalism and execution was impeccable. Not many times have I walked away from a dining experience and felt the need to go out of my way to make sure the leadership in the building knew, but again tonight was different. A BIG thank you to Jules (awesome waitress) for making my birthday lunch a success! This was my second visit to Pappadeaux. My aunt and I stopped in for lunch and cocktails to celebrate. I really like the food here. I am still new to the Houston restaurant scene, we don't have a pappadeuex's in North Carolina. I enjoy the bold creole flavors and beautiful cocktails. I still haven't dined on the patio which is lovely! I heard happy hour is great here. The menu ranges from a $14 - $30 price point, portions are well worth it! The lunch menu is available every day. I only wish they served brunch on Sunday's. That would be awesome! I haven't ordered anything I disliked yet. My first visit I ordered the following Crawfish salad crispy alligator bites (a first for me, tastes like chicken), crawfish and shrimp fondue This time I tried: Appetizer calamari Lunch order of shrimp and grits Crawfish pies Turtle Fudge brownie Mimosa Rosé All Day Cocktail Everything I just mentioned above is delicious! The food is perfectly seasoned! The crawfish salad is very large! I really like the dressing that's pared with it. If you order a mimosa be sure to ask for brut champagne, not the moscato which makes it super sweet. I look forward to coming back here many more times. We ate at this Pappadeaux today and the experience just wasn't what we're used to. Our waitress took our order and then disappeared until the food came out. Every other table around us was served bread and butter, but not us. When we asked, she said there's a "new policy" where you have to request it -- but I don't believe everyone else in the restaurant had to ask. At the end of the day, we never received bread and butter at all. The food itself didn't taste like it normally does -- everything was a little off, and the restaurant had a sour smell that was hard to ignore. We've always thought of Pappadeaux as a special and consistent place for family events, but this visit left us super disappointed. Sadly, I don't think we'll be back to this location. read more

Can't believe I've never reviewed this location, been here quite a few times for lunch/dinner/happy hours. Listen I'm not one to rush to the Deaux when I'm craving seafood but one thing you can't deny is the fact that they do it well. The restaurant just has become on the pricier side for those of us who remember them back in the day prices. But everything is high today and their popularity shot through the roof, so yesterday's prices are yesterday's prices. Now yesterday's (literally) experience was typical. The service was ok, the lady had the phoniest smile whenever she did make an appearance. There's an acceptable level of not bothering people but she stayed gone too long, had to ask the hostess that passed by to get her. We were hella disappointed they no longer have onion rings on the menu. Like whhhyyy!!! I didn't think to ask if they could do off menu at the time. I see they've also removed my fav app, the coconut shrimp!!! I don't even like coconut but that was always bomb af. The seafood on my platter was delicious, everything fried to perfection. 3 shrimp, 3 oysters, stuffed crab and shrimp and 2 catfish fillets. I wish it was more shrimp and oysters though cause really, so good. My baked potato (the one they charge $9 for and over $5 to upgrade had 3 tiny shards of bacon literally. I hadn't eaten it so I didn't realize it until a person next to me had plenty come out with theirs. I was like wtf so I asked the waitress if my portion was standard and she lied with her phony smile and said yes. But she redeemed herself and brought me more. Drinks are good but pricy, I've also had a few of their chef's selections over the years that were fantastic. Even the house salad with the honey bacon is yummy. We visited the NRG area restaurant off the Southwest freeway on January 31, 2026, at 8:15 pm. Our experience was horrible. Upon arrival we were put on a 45-minute waiting list. After about 20 to 30 minutes, we received a text that our table was ready. Again, when we checked in, we were told exactly, "I don't know who sent that message" our table was NOT ready and then she had to put us back on the waiting list. "WHAT"????? Another 45. When we finally got to the table, we were in a small corner at a small table for six guests. Ok fine. The waitress was pleasant and very helpful and working most of the tables in the restaurant, so service was extremely slow. Upon ordering the items we requested about 20 minutes later the manager came back and informed us those items were NOT available, so changes had to be made at least on two occasions. Which we were compensated with appetizers. Finally, we received our food which took about 45 minutes to an hour. The quality was not even mediocre. The crispy salmon was tasteful but the shrimp on the entree was not good, it was expired. Unfortunately, I paid the price for that choice. Overall, we spent a total three hours here just trying to be seated, eat and cashing out. Never again. I do not recommend this place to anyone...ever. NOT this location. read more

Me and my sister usually go to another Pappadeaux's location but now we may be going to this location more often. This location was great. Ok I love music and thought it was so great to hear old school R&B music being played while having a nice lunch time with my sister. We always order the same salads, I get chopped salad with fried crawfish and she gets the cobb salad with shrimp. This time the crawfish were placed on top of my salad and I could tell they were freshly fried. I didn't have my email to get the dessert for free for my birthday and I asked the waitress if I could get it and she said allowed me to. All of the staff were kind. read more

When I come to pappadeauxs, it is to unwind and have a drink. One of my go to drinks has been the Grand Hennessy. It is poured just right and a very refreshing drink. I recently saw someone drinking the Peach sidecar and wanted to try it. It was absolutely the BEST. The bartenders put love in there in there were and very attentive to the bar. Pappadeaux's (1960 / Willowbrook Area) Jerilyn*** 11:00 am time of arrival. Last time I'll be coming to this location. I went with client for lunch--we each ordered gumbo soup and a my client had a beer, I had water!! Throughout our meal, the manager Jerilyn kept coming by, hovering--constantly asking if we were good. It started to feel more like surveillance than service. Still, we were just having a normal, adult conversation and enjoying ourselves. I think it's because we didn't order Full Meals. I had 3 drinks Garden of Eden's at the table client had 4'beers Michelob Ultas. We moved to the bar to free up the table for other guest, and ordered another round (my fourth drink, my partner's fifth), and about 30 minutes later--after sitting there quietly, not causing any issues--Jerilyn walks up at exactly 1:22 PM to say they couldn't serve my client anymore . Out of nowhere. No slurred words, no loud behavior, no signs of intoxication. Just two adults talking and enjoying their time. In other words!!! If you're looking for a place to relax, talk, and have a couple drinks without being monitored like a teenager, this is not the place. Extremely off-putting experience. Wouldn't recommend. read more

Grabbing some good seafood!! Service from Bri was excellent! The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. Great seating and not to close on others. Even though it seems busy everything is ran so smooth! Parking is pretty easy to its a big parking lot that's private front and back! Wait time was about 15 minutes with a text alert to let you know the table is ready. Appetizers and bread was so fresh! From pasta to catfish and a nice refreshing watermelon margarita. I had a drink called out of the office with a pineapple on the side but it was way to much cinnamon. The Redfish Ponchatrain was an absolute delight because it was so well cooked and seasoned. Not too spicy, but not too mild, just right. The dirty rice was also exceptional. We enjoyed the fresh out of the oven bread and butter brought by our server to start off our meal. This is a rather large and popular location so even if there is free parking it is sometimes hard to find. The location right off of FM 1960 makes it very convenient. Expect a line of people to get into the restaurant and be prepared to wait for a text to your cell phone to notify of your seating indoors and outdoors. read more

They seriously need a better system on waiting table & hostess need some training on how to be friendly with guests. I went here on New Year Day at 5pm and asked for a table of 10. Literally the restaurant had about 2-3 tables, but told me my wait time 45 mins to a hour wait. How is there a wait time for a hour if the restaurant is empty?! Make no sense! My family and relatives from out of town waited outside, I never received a text or call stating my table was ready. I had to asked multiple times to see if table was ready. By the time we got our table, my 81 year old grandma was starving! I asked our server to bring bread out and put in my grandmother's order first and bring it out right away when it was ready.
