The food here is very good, but very pricey. The food is easily 4 stars, but I took down the overall rating because of the noise factor. It is loud. Although there is carpet, the other hard surfaces makes for very noisy dining. And when the prices reflect fine dining, the ambience should match. My friend and I went for lunch, and we had a $25 coupon. I ordered just an appetizer as I have a small appetite, and my friend got the mixed seafood grill. I had iced tea to drink and she had water. The bill was $42. A bit pricey for one lunch and one appetizer. Again, very good food, but neither of us will go back unless it is nice enough to sit outside. Their patio area looks very inviting. I will say the key lime pie, which is not included in the above total, was excellent. Be sure and save room if you decide to brave to noise. read more

Over-priced but good food. The server didn't know the menu very well but did her best with what little training she had. The manager was nice and knew the allergens on the menu very well. I really wanted to go here, as I enjoy the other Pappas offerings. While I know it's a seafood place, they don't really have much if you have a shrimp allergy. So, over-priced, just okay. read more

Been here few more times...and food and service is still Just as great as day one. Steaks are still pretty good and consistent...but so far a new favorite is the Lobster Shrimp salad. creamy with fresh salad mix, and plump sweet shrimp and lobster. read more

We had the private room here, and it was so nice because it was quieter for our party. Our server Jessica was absolutely wonderful- friendly and attentive service! The fried mozzarella and seafood fondue were great apps. I wish there were more non-seafood options but otherwise it was a great spot for our group of 12. read more

Any of the "naked fish" selections (b/c I don't like a lot of salt on my food. With amazingly fresh fish, shellfish, & steaks, you don't need to dump on salt for flavor) 6. Fresh lobster 7. The filet mignon (this steak was awesome! I like mine med. rare, so it came out perfectly cooked and literally melted in my mouth!) 8. & for dessert, the key lime pie. It has a homemade almond?/graham cracker crust that is to die for. 9. I also really love their green beans & asparagus as sides. The mixed drinks are always good too. The restaurant is spot on clean, and the wait staff are all very friendly & attentive. We ate here for lunch the other day and I wasn't impressed. It seemed over priced and while the servings were big it was all bread. I ordered the shrimp po boy, and it looked like a loaf of french bread with maybe 3 shrimps on each half. Our server was ok, but I agree with another poster that the tables are way too close together. And it was very loud, which was odd since it wasn't extremely busy. Save yourself a lot of money and get better seafood on the island. I won't return. read more

Pappadeaux food is almost ALWAYS on point. My 3 star review is based on service alone. Waiter forgot my husbands salad then looked at us like we were crazy for bringing it up. I asked for dressing on the side of my salad and he said "I don't think they can do that". Umm, this is a restaurant right? Super disappointed. I love pappadeauxs. It's typically my favorite restaurant and whenever I come to Texas I make it a point to come here. I told my waitress Gloria how I wanted my Salmon. It was WAY under cooked. I don't like sushi. She never checked on me during the meal I was forced to eat it raw. I had to ask for bread. I felt like I was a bother to her. Food here is great...I didn't even think I liked seafood before I ate some of their fresh fish selections. Avoid the fried food. It is overpriced and not really worth it. You've had fried shrimp--you know what it tastes like. But the Tilapia topped with lobster and avocado? It's excellent. Yes, Pappadeaux's is very expensive. But let me share you on a little insider secret...they have an awesome and very affordable happy hour. Get one jumbo size Swamp Thing and you will be leaving probably just under the legal drinking limit. Frog legs, gator bites, calamari, and spinach dip are all great shareable happy hour items. The spinach dip--oh my gawd--can we say french cooking? can we say loaded with cream and heavy butter and tons of calories but oh so very very good? read more

Second time here. I had the same plate I had last time we were here and I was impressed. I especially love the blue crab cakes that come with the chikkin strip and fried tilapia. These crab cakes are almost as good as one (I use my moms recipe and catch my own crab). It's a bit pricey but hey, it's worth it read more

The seafood here is to die for and very good portions. I went on a Tuesday night and the dining area was very busy and the parking lot crowded. Pros: The food! I had the mahi mahi matina. It was soo good. Cooked perfectly along side sea scallops and shrimp. The green beans and sweet potato were awesome too! No room for dessert! Cons: The tables in the dining room are entirely too close together to maneuver through when you get seated in the middle. The service/wait staff is lack luster and not on top of ANYTHING! Waited forever for my food and my drinks, but never received my dinner salad. I had to ask them to take it off my bill. This place always gets five stars for me because when he comes the seafood this is probably one of my favorite restaurants to eat at all over Texas. The seafood is always fresh and the service is always at top-notch. Growing up in Houston Texas as a little kid my parents always stop in at this restaurant very often and I just kept the tradition alive with my family. We are big fans. This is definitely a top recommend from me if you looking for some fresh seafood with a touch of Cajun style this is the place in Texas. I also believe that there is one or a few in Albuquerque New Mexico. This place is great for lunch and dinner good family setting with a very welcoming atmosphere. Such a wonderful experience! There was a mix up when I called ahead, but the manager assessed the situation and was gave us a private room where it wasn't near as loud. Service was excellent! All the food came out within a reasonable time. The fresh bread is so good! The steak I ordered was amazing, but just know they will cook the steak exactly how you want it so no need to ask for medium if you really want medium well for example. The manager came to check on us periodically which was nice. Towards the end they had live music and the group was really talented. Overall great experience! Worth every penny! read more

I was skeptical about a seafood chain restaurant when we went here for a birthday dinner. I was happily proven wrong! Our server, Stacey, was delightful. If I'm ever back, I will request her. She was kind and very attentive, and patient with our larger party of older folks. I started with the oysters, and they were very good. The calamari appetizer was decent. I had the grilled Costa Rican mahi mahi. It was delicious. The cheesy grits really surprised me, and the green beans were cooked well (still crunchy). It was a great with a bunch of lemon. My boyfriend had the mixed seafood pasta with sausage, and we liked that too. The rest of our group got fried seafood. I don't like fried seafood, but they said they all enjoyed their meals. The portions were huge! The drinks were overpriced for the quality. I had the skinny margarita, which was low on tequila and far too tart. My whiskey ginger ale was mostly ginger ale with a dash of whiskey. A companion enjoyed the Long Island. read more

I would have given this place 5 stars but the service isn't that good. Have been here twice and both times very good food but very slow service. The first time was fine since it was a Saturday night and very busy. However, the second time there was no excuse. Sat in the bar and there was no other customers except for a group of girls who turned out to be friends of the server. The initial greet was prompt, but had to wait a long time to have my order taken and food served. The server was too busy talking with her friends, taking sips of their alcoholic beverages and yelling across the bar "What are you guys talking about?!" When she couldn't hear their conversation. Wow really good food here. Never have been to one of these places and always assumed it was like a slightly nicer Red Lobster. Its way better than that. Our group of 9 had several appetizers like the fried crab claws, seafood fondue and a dozen oysters. Everything was great. I had the crawfish etouffee that was half etouffee and half fried crawfish. The food was a 5 star, but the service had a lot to be desired. We were next to a table that received wonderful service, and maybe that's what annoyed me the most. I had their GULF GROUPER & JUMBO CRAB -Spicy seared grouper with grilled shrimp & jumbo lump crab in a light lemon butter with sautéed spinach - which was delicious. I was not pleased and voiced concern to the manager who provided a gift card which was appreciated. Dined at various Pappadeaux locations before -- the food is great, just what you'd expect from a large chain like this. I had the 1lb "chick" lobster boiled, VERY fresh, juicy, and tender. The pasta served with it was perfectly flavored as well. It is slightly more expensive but I'd say that is the perfect size to enjoy a lobster. Husband was feeling adventurous and tried the fried alligator meat - said it tasted like soft chicken (of course). The lobster bisque here is much better than Red Lobsters as it is actually loaded with lobster meat. Overall, we enjoyed the food, the service was pretty good considering how packed the place was. The only negative point was the half dozen oysters - good, but just not AS fresh as I am used to and my husband ate one and refused to have another. read more

It's a dimmed lighting delicious seafood joint she won't say no for an answer! Fried Aligator is to die for mate! It CAN get a bit loud but it'll still be comfortable I do recommend Pappadeux start playing some jazz tunes er somthin' in the background, just a tip. Great energy, you can feel it when your waiter speeds towards you witcho steamin' crab straight out the fire. My co-worker wanted to go, and I had always heard about it, so I went. I had the Caesar Salad with blackened chicken, and was absolutely blown away. Large portion with loads of fresh Parmesan cheese, crunchy croutons, and the chicken was charred perfectly and still tender and juicy. Perfect amount of dressing, and did not have an overpowering anchovie flavor which I find at some restaurants.
