Unbelievable food for a chain restaurant! Normally we would never go to a chain place for dinner - especially in phoenix - but i could not resist all the pics of their food on facebook. We started with the spinach/lump crab dip, it was good but not outstanding. I ordered the big bayou platter with stuffed shrimp, bacon wrapped shrimp and lobster - it was excellent (dirty rice was great too). I like this restaurant very much, and actually I have been there over ten times since 2013. Especially they have many types of beer, and many Cajun foods so I enjoy drinking beers and eating Cajun foods every time. Today my wife and I ate gumbo and spring roll, thus she said they tasted great, and I also felt good for them. My sister and Brother in law dined here after our Mother's funeral. Wyatt was our server, and took great care in explaining all their dishes. He was very accommodating to our needs. This place is awesome! We live in California and we're in AZ for a few days. We wanted to try something we couldn't get back home. We had a great experience! The food was amazing, hot and tasty! Our server Myra was amazing as well. She was extremely professional, and so very kind! She was so attentive to what we needed. We ordered different things and everyone was pleased with their meals! My husband, mother, and I went to Pappadeaux's for a late lunch on Valentine's Day. We didn't realize it, but February 14th is smack dab in the middle of Mardi Gras, so Pappadeaux was quite busy! The courtyard is beautiful, though, with live music, ample seating, and this time popcorn, cheese, and sausage was being given out while you waited, along with bottled water and Mardi Gras beads. The wait was projected to be 30-45 minutes, but we were seated in 20 minutes. The food was delicious, as always, and the service was friendly and adequate to good. It was a very busy day, so I understand that it is difficult to keep the drinks full. I chose the Blackened Mahi Alexander Style, my husband chose the Blackened Mahi lunch special, and my mother got the Tilapia lunch special. The spices were bold and impressive. Loved the grilled shrimp with my dinner. For dessert, we got creme brûlée and pecan sweet potato pie with vanilla bean ice cream. So. Totally. Delicious. This is one of my favorite places to get creme brûlée. I always look forward to my lunches and dinners at Pappadeaux. I was not disappointed! read more

We come here at least 2x's a month... We always ask for Audrey, she is the best waitress, fun, has a cool Boston accent and is great at what she does. I would recommend her, so request her. :) Food is always great, I've had 2 instances where I had to send my food back, one was because my toddler sneezed all over my food after only two bites, so they gladly took it back a replaced my meal and the other time was when I was preggo, I had ordered salmon and it was just a little too, "not done"... So the got me a new meal and gave our whole table free desserts. They are excellent at making sure you have a fab dinner and are happy. So be kind if there is an issue, they gladly make thing right with a smile on their face. I love many dishes on their menu... Seafood Cobb salad, oysters, gator (1/2 blackened & 1/2 fried) which is a fave of ours, Alexander mahi, salmon Alexander, good ol plank salmon and asparagus, bacon wrapped shrimp is amazing, their pastas are great and we especially love their banana pudding! I took my daughter for her first visit to any Pappadeaux restaurant. We thought all was great until today, 2 days later, Thanksgiving Day, when we discovered that we DID NOT get the featured sweet potato pecan pie!!! Ugh!! The wife and I have made eating dinner at Pappadeaux our New Years Eve tradition. Awesome and unique atmosphere; you feel like you're actually in New Orleans. The oysters are insanely good, the steaks are amazing (will be a little pinker than you're used too) and their seafood is cooked to perfection. Having grown up in Texas, exposed to lots of cajun food and now living in LA where there is none, a promised visit to Pappadeaux was what sealed the deal for me to visit Phoenix. Pappadeaux did not disappoint - food was just as good as I remembered the chain to be in Texas. I love my crawfish etouffee. What an interesting concept... Seafood in the desert. Nevertheless, it was very good and probably the best meal that I had in Phoenix. The things that we ordered: 1. Oysters 2. Gumbo 3. Ahi Tuna 4. Ate here with my husband for a small dinner while we were visiting friends in Phoenix. Since this restaurant was within walking distance (less than a 5 minute walk) to the hotel we were staying in (Candlewood Suites), we decided to eat here. The first thing I thought of when we came in here was that this was one of those expensive tourist restaurants... and well it is (well duh, it's located right next to a few hotels). Anyways, when we first came in here (sometime after 9 pm), no one acknowledged us. There was no one by the hostess area. So we waited by the front for a few minutes before deciding to just walk over to a table and seat ourselves. When we sat ourselves at a booth near the bar, a server saw us and brought us 2 menus. We ordered the following: Crispy Fried Alligator: We got a large order and was surprised that it didn't really come with a lot of pieces. Would really have liked to have more, especially since the price tag was a bit high. Anyways, my husband wanted to order this because well, how many opportunities do you get to eat alligator? It was tasty, but a little on the oily side. And it tasted like chicken (but you know, a lot of things taste like chicken). I don't know if I would ever order this again just because of the price tag and I didn't really feel like my palate was wowed a new culinary treat. Louisiana Seafood Gumbo: We ordered a bowl to share and really liked the flavor of the gumbo. My husband just wished that there were more seafood pieces in this instead of just a few pieces of shrimp and mostly sausage. The service we received was below average... Our server only came to our tables a total of 3 times (1 to get our order, 2 to bring us our food and 3 to bring us our check). He was not attentive to refilling our water and so I had to find another employee to get us some more water. The place wasn't even busy at all, there was just a handful of tables with people eating and no one at the bar. The place was basically empty (pretty spacious, which made the emptiness more noticeable). The ladies' restroom was clean and there is plenty of parking in the lot. Overall, would not come back. Food is overly priced and nothing seemed to wow us. This is just one of those tourist traps who just like the convenience of dining here due to proximity to their hotel. read more

I have a love/hate with Pappadeaux. Their prices are high, the selection is great but not so great. $20 for a catfish plate is exorbitant; however, what they do, they do it well. The catfish was perfect, especially with a side of grits and bottle of Louisiana hot sauce. The platters are huge and enough for two people to share. Not much in the way of non-seafood options - which made it hard for my family members that don't eat seafood to find something. That menu needs to be expanded to more than $40 steaks. The Mediterranean Calamari appetizer is $20 and the best app on the menu - however, it's a huge plate for a large table. I wish had a smaller option. Only 2 people at our table would eat such a thing but no way could we tackle such a huge plate and calamari isn't something you can take home for later. This restaurant has the best patio in the valley. Open air, fans and misters, lots of greenery and shade. I could spend forever on Pappadeaux's patio. Our waiter was excellent, though the food took a long time. I think it was the stinking steak being cooked. *So here is your take-way: Only come with seafood lovers (the rest will be uncomfortable), sit on the patio, have plenty of time to hang out, and be prepared for a high bill - but you won't be disappointed by the food or the atmosphere. read more

The wait was long (I rolled my eyes and apparently a 30-60 minute wait is "good" for this place) The management doesn't have the foresight to have a hostess selling drinks. Leaving money on the table and the customer unhappy! The food was fabulous every item was perfectly prepared. I am happy to spend money on food but $9.95 for 1 crab cake appetizer that is SMALLER than a hockey puck means I will be spending my $184.50 for 3 people at a much better restaurant. The cost for the quality is why this is NOT a 5 star review. Food 10 stars value 2 stars. I have had much better food for much lower price and much less waiting. I'm sad. A friend recommended Pappadeaux when I asked him where we should go for our anniversary dinner. The restaurant itself is beautiful both inside and out. We were greeted immediately upon entering and seated very quickly. We didn't love where we were seated though, feeling as though we were in the middle of a walkway. The dining room wasn't very full when we arrived, so we think we could have been seated in a less busy location, but it is what it is. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer and we're a bit disappointed in the size for the price. There was a lot of just batter prices and fried artichokes (something we'd never had in calamari before), and not as much actual calamari. We were concerned that our entree might be lacking too, but they most definitely were not. I ordered the Texas redfish Pontchartrain which was delicious! It came in a le!on butter sauce with some shrimp and crabmeat and dirty rice. Hubby ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Brochette, which was bacon wrapped shrimp filled with Monterey Jack and a jalapeno sliver with dirty rice. He really enjoyed his as well. The entrees were a great size. For dessert we had crème brulee, which was very good too. Overall, a very good meal and we will probably return, although we're not likely to order the calamari again. And really, we didn't need an appetizer because they brought out warm, crusty French bread and that is really all the appetizer we needed. read more

This is my Favorite Restaurant by FAR. There are a few cons in the past 3 visits though. Food on one hand is always excellent. Service is usually really prompt, but if you want optimal service I would eat at the bar. 1. Lobster Sizes. I try to Order 2lbs or So, and every time I have been up-sold to a 3 or 4 pounder without any discount. 2. The Lobster Eat All you Can deal was turning away customers by 7pm on the opening night,, I was showing off and brought 4 guests up from Gilbert, just to get turned away. 3. The Temperature in there is a bit chilly, so if you don't devour your food quickly, it can tend to get a bit cold. The seafood is good, and the atmosphere is pretty nice, but for the price, you can do much better elsewhere. Being from the south, I appreciate the southern, Cajun cuisine, but I can get a better, more filling meal at a high-end steakhouse. Myself with two kids, and no alcoholic drinks and no appetizers still came out to almost $200 after tip. Happy hour might be a different story, but I guess it's on me for asking for seafood in the middle of the desert. read more

Took my wife for her birthday to Pappadeaux. Was told a 45-1hr wait. She wanted it so I said ok. 1hr and a half in , I asked to see what's up. Was treated rudely by one of the hostesses. Considering we were 45 bucks on 3 drinks in I waited. Not sure if the manager cares or not but don't come here if you don't like to wait. Food was a solid B. Service once we sat was good. But the hostess and wait killer it. If it's a 2 hour wait say it and I'm Went back to Pappadeaux. It's was wonderful this time. From service to food. Much better. I was looking forward to eating here. I had Pappadeaux in Dallas as well as in Houston. I loved it both times. With the COVID-19 and slow re-opening, the menu was much smaller than before. No raw oysters. And a lot of the other fresh seafood were not on the menu. That was a bit disappointing but understandable. I I've Cajun food and I must say, the etoufee is delicious here. The Alaskan king crab legs were not as fresh as Steak 44. The salad and fried catfish were humongous in portion so watch out! A side of fries was huge! Overall, the quality was not as great as what I remembered from before, so that is why I did not give it a five star. The service was attentive but not exceptional. The restaurant is beautiful, especially with the outside fountain. There's definitely enough space to provide proper social distancing. Overall, I would come back with a full menu. For Thinsulin fans, there's some green light choices. read more

This is my first time here in pheonix and wanted something indulgent after my flight. Pappadeaux was right next to my hotel and it looked flashy and inviting. So I decided to give it a shot. I looked up the yelp reviews and I knew I chose well. I had a blue moon, the lobster bisque and a crab cake. Not a lot but I knew it was going to be hearty and filling. I was right. Lobster bisque was creamy but not too thick. Had large chunks of lobster and was overall amazing. The crab cakes though were phenomenal. So yummy and filling. So many different textures and flavor elements. I could eat those all day every day. read more
