This is a favorite of Joel's family so we decided to go after the Filipino restaurant nearby was closed. When you walk up it feels like you are stepping into a private, tropical courtyard. It's a beautiful outdoor space with a large fountain and thick greenery. It was not crowded but busy for a Sunday afternoon at 2pm. The staff were all so attentive and amazing proving great service and recommendations. The prices range from $25 to $65 for an entree. The portions are large though and the food was very fresh. Stopped by here on a Friday night and had a great experience. I'm glad we made reservations as the restaurant was very busy and continued to stay busy all night. We were seated right away and had our server within a couple of minutes. Started off with the crispy alligator which was delicious and some gumbo that had just the right kick to it. Our main entrees were came out within a good amount of time (considering how busy it was) and tasted great. Definitely big portion sizes here. The restaurant itself is nice, maybe a little dark and can get slightly noisy when busy. In my opinion, the prices are a bit high for what you are getting. The portions are big and know seafood can be more expensive but for the bill to be around $150 for two people for 1 app, a soup, salad, and 2 entrees, seems a bit high. read more

Always have a good experience at the Pappadeaux food chains. No too busy on Saturday around 3:30 pm. The entree was a bit smaller than what I remember. They normal cover with gumbo or etouffee on top. Price wise is a big steep for a 10 oz grilled fish with veggies. A bowl of gumbo is $19.95. Again pretty steep but it was good! Wife and I have gone to the Phx Pappa's location 3 times so far into 2025. We have always sat at the bar since we usually just get drinks and some oysters. I'll say straight-out that their oysters have been flat-out excellent here in January 2025. Love those sides as well, re: their dipping sauce and the horse radish/cocktail sauce. Pretty solid hit on the Caesar Salad. Not a homerun, but pretty solid. Drinks were pretty solid, and the bartenders were quite professional and prompt. Excellent on all. Slight downside being on the regular food items we ordered... Bit heavy on the butter and the sauces all taste the same. These slight nicks aside; man.... The oysters were awesome. This is my favorite Cajun restaurant in the Phoenix Valley! I travel 40 miles each way for my fix. There are so many delicious options on the menu that I love including the blackened catfish with red beans and rice, Chilean sea bass, seafood fondeaux, alligator bites with their signature dipping sauce, fried platter and my favorite lunch item, chopped salad with crawfish! We come to Pappadeaux about twice a year, usually for special occasions. The atmosphere is welcoming if a little loud. Beautiful patio and fun interior decor. The food is very good. I recommend the salmon Alexander. Yum! Salmon is cooked just right and I love those little crawfish (and that I didn't have to crack them open! We usually have had impeccable service when we've visited but, sadly, this last visit was an exception. Our waitress didn't seem to want to do too much work, or be too friendly or refill our drinks. Somewhere else that might be expected, but I was very surprised to find lower level service at Pappadeaux since it was a first-time problem for us. My sister's octopus was overcooked, so she pushed it to the side but didn't put in a complaint. The waitress noticing told her that next time she should switch the octopus for scallops for an up-charge. She didn't try to assess or fix the problem. We have stopped in here to eat on many occasions and have mostly enjoyed the Cajun cuisine. Today we had the bowl of shrimp gumbo though we had ordered seafood. It was just warm and my wife wanted a nice hot bowl of soup as she was not feeling real well. They took it back and returned with a hot bowl. She enjoyed it and about 1/2 through said there was only prawns in the soup. But she was happy so nothing said. And the bill reflected the lower price prawn only. I had wild caught mahi Alexander that was great. It had two seared scallops a large serving of sautéed prawns and crawfish with a white cream sauce that was very tasty with a nice bit of heat. The mahi was blackened but more of a caramelized sear that had loads of flavor. It was overdone for me slightly as I like the middle more rare. But the taste was great!! It came with the dirty rice which was tasty. The flavor was similar to the gumbo soup base with the fille seasoning (leaves the dirty look). Ok we had to drive about an hour and a half so no cocktails today but they have an excellent selection we've had in the past. This 'use' to be my favorite restaurant. Yesterday my table had to wait and never was provided extra coffee-bread. My food was served cold. I cancelled my salad which I never received and come to find out I was charged. which I noticed this morning reviewing the receipt. I ordered take out for my granddaughter and was very specific all chicken with the pasta dish and when I opened bag when I got home it was allllllllllll shrimp which she doesn't like. I always give at least $30 tip but only because I was generous left $15. I am extremely disappointed with the service and the food. I won't be back. When they arrived, I detected the slightest hint of that ammonia odor. Not quite off...but not quite pristine. They tasted good, for $100 bucks they should. Make sure you ask to sit in her section the next time you visit. We both started out with a classic ceases salad and I had some bread and butter. Both good. We came to the Phoenix, AZ location for our 6th anniversary we were on vacation from North Carolina. The Food was TOO salty... everything. The appetizer Calamari and octopus was to Lemony. The Key Lime pie was not good it was too wet, too mushy. Service was good waitress seemed very knowledgeable. Ambiance... This place seemed a little old. The restaurant is huge but, I think it's time for some renovations. I think quality control is needed in the kitchen.
