"Wanna try my Noodle?" ...Because of the noise on a busy Saturday at Pike Place, I thought this is what the guy said at first! Apparently it was "Wanna try a Chocolate Noodle?", not the former. This shop peddles the heck out of it's Chocolate pasta, but we weren't there for that. We wanted to find a perfect pairing that would go well in a seafood pasta (made with fresh seafood from Pure Foods, in the market, of course!). We sampled a couple out of their huge variety of pastas, Some of the more exciting being Spinach Herb, and another pasta with some kind of foreign sounding spice mixture, that made the pasta look red. We finally decided on a Lemon Ginger Fettuccine. When cooked, the product was just lemony enough with the slightest burst of savory sweet warmth from the ginger, that it really did make the dish. The noodles were so long! The product is high quality, and you pay for it. It's definitely a splurge item. One pound of pasta, and a pound and a half of seafood, made enough good eats for eight people (with other dishes to accompany), and one pound of the linguine would easily fill 6 hungry people to the brim with delicious homemade pasta. I will definitely be stopping through again to "Try the Noodle" again! read more

I love coming here to buy pasta! Any reason to pick up some gifts, white elephants or a special occasion dinner, and I come here! First of all the oil samples are SO good. I would buy all of them if I had space on my counter at home. They make amazing gifts, and they're great to keep at home for yourself. It just adds that quality touch to the food or appetizers that makes it golden. The pasta is also so delicious. They have pre packaged smaller portions that make great gifts. They also will package up larger portions. I've never had a pasta that wasn't amazing. I've had the linguini and lemon orzo myself, but I've gifted quite a few flavors too. I have had Pappardelle's Pastas before and have thoroughly enjoyed every bite. Today I went down to the market and when asked if I'd like to try a sample of their chocolate pasta, I remembered how great this pasta place was. It had been a while since my last visit, so I asked if they had any gluten free options since I started a gluten free diet a few months ago. They had tons of gluten free options--all looking so delicious!! Seriously, they probably had about 10 different flavors!! I was so excited! I bought the Gluten free Garlic Chive and cooked it up tonight. Im sorry to say, it was a total let down. It isnt the flavor--it is the consistency and texture of the pasta. Trader Joe's brown rice pasta has a better consistency than this!! I would not normally complain or write a bad review, but I paid over $10 for a small bag of it...it was only 3/4 of a pound too. The flavor is OK, but the consistency is terrible for a gluten free pasta. I tried drowning it in butter and cream sauce, but still, not there. Bottom line, dont bother with the gluten free...get the real deal...and if your celiac and cannot do gluten at all, then skip it--there are much better options on store shelves for a fraction of the cost!! read more

Great fresh dried Pasta and Orzo Pasta I have gotten Pasta a here many times now in the last couple years, I find it almost impossible to not stop and get some pasta, weather it be one I have tried before or something new, to go with what meats I just got for dinner I also love that they have Recipes made up for each Pasta, so even if you are not that creative you can still make a new meal up, with the help of the Pasta Guys and surprise your family and/or friends I got some Chocolate Linguine last night for dessert, it is gonna be really good with whipped cream and fresh fruit over it read more

One of the true gems here at Pike Place Market, they have a large variety of pastas (linguine, angel hair, etc.) for reasonable prices ($5 for half a pound of pasta, which serves about 2-3 people). All of the pasta selections come with a printed out recipe which gives you a great starting point for planning for, or shopping for the rest of your ingredients while out at the market. read more

I wish my mother was with me, because if she had seen this pasta stand in Pikes Place, she would have freaked. Lately my mom seems to be on a mission to make the perfect pasta, so when I found this stand, I knew I had to get her some. It is absolutely overwhelming trying to decide which kind of pasta to purchase, as they have pretty much anything you could possibly think of. They were even giving out samples of chocolate fettuccine. Who woulda thought?? I asked one of the girl's to help me choose, and I settled on the garlic fettuccinne. They even included a recipe that works well with that kind of pasta! My mom made the recipe, and it was pretty darn good! All of their pastas are of course homemade, and they have tons like sundried tomato, black pepper, etc. The girl even gave me a tip on how I could stow it in my luggage so it wouldn't break! read more

Here's a email I wrote on Valentine's Day. Still no response.... My wife and I cooked a pasta dish tonight for dinner with items we got today from Pike Place Market. As I was eating I discovered a sharp piece of glass in my mouth. The dish consisted of a pound of your pasta, a jar of pasta sauce, a onion, a bell pepper, capers, and smoked salmon that was vacuum sealed. After discovering the glass, we investigated everything we cooked with, every container, every pan and utensil we used. Everything was fine, nothing broken, and nothing made of glass was used. My wife and I came to the conclusion that the only element of our meal that was open and unsealed that could have been contaminated with glass is your pasta. Our thought is maybe glass got into the open box somehow at the market, not sure. Unfortunately, my wife and I are throwing out a delicious smoked salmon pasta, for fear of discovering more glass. In hindsight, we're glad I didn't bite and/or swallow the glass and end up in the hospital. Could have made for an interesting Valentines Day. For best results their pasta should be prepared with the simplest and least amount of ingredients to highlight the organic flavors of their pasta. I served their spinach pasta cooked al dente with an assortment of sautéed wild mushrooms, prosciutto, just a touch of heavy cream and freshly shaved parmigiano-reggiano, all sourced from vendors at the market. The result was divine! The pasta had more of fresh pasta textures than dried and the flavor of the noodles was settle yet aromatic enough. It is one of the best dried pastas I've cooked at home. I didn't care for the chocolate pasta. In my opinion it tastes better uncooked when eaten like pasta chips, although, I don't think they are meant to be eaten uncooked. I will follow one of their dessert pasta recipes next time for a better result. Make sure to get their recipe cards! They do know the best ways of cooking their pasta and bringing out the flavors and aromas of their noodles as they should. read more

I love love LOVE this place. Friends and I came in while in town being typical tourists for Halloween weekend. The girls here were all dressed on Halloween like the girls from Orange Is The New Black which was hilarious. The girl that dressed like 'Soso' helped us and was incredibly patient and so enthusiastic about each and every olive oil and pasta we tried. Unique and delicious pasta! Located right inside pikes place, it's the perfect compliment to any seafood you pick up at the market for dinner. We bought some lemon linguine and garlic chive seashells (a pound of each fed four of us for two meals!) The linguine was perfect with clams cooked in butter, lemon, garlic sauce and we made the garlic chive shells into the most delectable mac and cheese. I visited this pasta stall while I was in Seattle a few weeks back. They got a great variety of "flavored" pastas. I bought 1lb of the Goan Curry angel hair thinking it would be a quick easy meal on days I don't have time to cook. Well I just got around to trying this last night, and oh boy, it's the best pasta I ever had! (well cooked by myself at least) It had a wonderful texture and flavor, and it went so well with my spicy red tomato sauce. The curry really brought another layer of depth to the spice. I simply loved it. I will be ordering more and trying out other variety from their online store. I am not thrilled with the $10 shipping charge though! Guess I will be buying more of this stuff next time I come to Seattle! read more

Always a good place to stop at and look over all the different types of pasta selections. Their Habanero pasta is unbelievably hot! It was almost too hot for two peppers bellies to eat even smothered in mango salsa. I let one of my buddies that is not a pepper belly try one piece and shortly after he was not happy with me and wiping his tongue on his sleeve. HAHA! Im not sure that they even weigh the amount of pasta that you receive. One of my bags was totally different than the other and they were of very similar pasta. Pretty sure it was less because the guy scooping it could barely reach to the front bin. Just an fyi. They also have a selection of flavored oils and vinegars for sampling. A pretty touristy stop in the market but the prices still seem pretty fair. read more

Shopping here is almost like being in a candy shop. The abundance of color and choices combined with the delicious samples make this a great experience. The pasta is truly delicious and always a crowd pleaser at meals. Some of my favorites are the Lime Cilantro Linguine, and any of the pappardelle noodles (the very wide cut flat noodle). One of my favorite things to do is mix a couple of flavors together in the same dish. This helps add more flavor and a truly eye catching presentation as the two colors pasta intertwine. I have tried almost every pasta they carry and have not found one I didn't like. I helped my father open the business and worked there for the first year so I can also say that this is a great place to work. The atmosphere is always friendly and the workers do a great job keeping up with the crowds trying to buy pasta on busy weekends. I don't get to market as much as I used to since I opened a restaurant in Kansas City, KS, but my father is the owner and has a lot of passion and love for his business, workers, and of course the customers. The Pike Place Market can be a magical place, and this little pasta shop fits in perfectly. read more

This might be my favorite stall in the entire market. I love the creative types of pasta they have. Since pasta is one of the main staples in my diet, I easily get bored by the regular stuff you get in the store. However, this place is great. Not only do they have a great selection of pastas and vinegars, they are more than happy to let you taste a bit of the dried pasta you're considering. The chocolate pasta makes a great dessert dish. They also carry a fruit melody blend which makes a fun salad/dessert type dish. The orzo selection is great and probably my favorite thing to pick up. I like using Rachel Ray's Cheesy Orzo recipe (find it online) with just about any of the flavors. The cost is $8.50/lb and they sell in 1/2 lb increments, but trust me, it's worth the extra cost. Oh and you get a recipe with every type of pasta you buy, so you can just use it as your shopping list and have a great meal. read more

All sorts of different types of pasta. Heavy on linguine, I wish they had a few more types of angel hair or spaghettini. I was drawn in by the offer of a taste of chocolate pasta. I was flying back today and looking for a special something for dessert. This was perfect! Esoteric enough to be a complete surprise yet still fairly easy to execute on. I decided to also pick up some blood oranges and raspberries to compose the "sauce" along with some heavy whipping cream. What a great find at just the right time! I have to confess: I usually only go here to sample their balsamic vinegars and oils. This past weekend I finally caved in and purchased a half pound of their chocolate linguini. Let me start by saying that I love good pasta! I"m a runner so I eat loads of carbs and pasta is my absolute favorite. I was very excited to hear about this place. I live about an hour away so it's a bit of a trek to go to the market in Seattle, not to mention finding a place to park and wading through the hoards of people. We finally took a Saturday trip down and made it to Pappardelle's. We bought four different varieties of pasta a two bottles of oil. The prices are very high compared to pasta from anywhere else. I think we could just about hire someone to come to our house and custom make any style we want for what we paid. nonetheless we headed home with our treasure and got right down to cooking. Without going into every detail I will just say that the pasta is really just ok. It's certainly nothing special. I would say it's more like getting one of those elephant ears at the fair. They smell so good and the excitement is high when you first get that warm cinnamon covered thing in your hands but by the time you get half way through it you're wondering why you did that and looking for a garbage can. Same thing happens when you eat Pappardelle's pasta. Why did I do that and where's the garbage can! The only reason I gave them 2 stars is because the girl who helped us was so sweet! I have been to this pasta stand a couple times, and have bought pasta a couple times. It's $10 a lb which in some views is a little steep for pasta, but there is a difference. They have many flavors of pasta, I love the garlic pasta its very tasty I picked up 2 flavors of garlic, one is garlic spinach, and the other is roasted garlic. I bought 3 lbs of pasta and let me tell you I am going to pair it with some Halibut and Manila Clams, maybe even a lobster and it will be divine :-) I like the sellers they are very humorous, and they give out recipes with the pasta so that is totally awesome in my book. I will most definatley be back, I think on my next visit ( might be tomorrow before we head back to vancouver, wa) I want to get some orzo and try that out :-) they have many flavors of that too. read more

My husband and I went to visit our friends who live near Seattle, so they took us to pikes place market. There I saw a stand with the most unusual pasta. We bought the chocolate and fancy fruit, both were delicious.since then I have ordered other pastas and have never been disappointed. What an absolute gem. The selection is a bit overwhelming, but go with your gut and go back to try more. I was lucky enough to select the Lemon Parsley Mafaldine. I grabbed the recipe too, but ended up improvising a grilled chicken and zucchini pasta salad with feta, parsley, tomatoes, olive oil, and lemon juice. WOW! I tasted the pasta even before putting anything on it and the lemony flavor was just faboo. Not overpowering, but just a hint. I've always wanted to buy some pasta from this stand, but never got around to it til recently. I picked up a pound of garlic chive pappardelle ($4) and brought it home to California. I asked the guy about bubble wrap or something to protect the pasta in my luggage but he said it'd be fine, and yup - the pappardelle was strong enough laying somewhat flat in my luggage to not break at all. Good job, pasta! Recipe said 6-8 minutes for the pasta, 6 minutes was perfect for al dente. Made some #homemade ragu and the pasta was delicious - great texture and paired flavor. I'll probably get another couple pounds of pasta next time I'm in the city! read more

First thing that jumped out was the very friendly service! The two women we spoke to could not have been sweeter and the one gentleman manning the Olive Oil station was also very pleasant. We were given samples of all pastas on display and information about how to cook them and wine pairings. Pappardelle's is right in the heart of the market. They sell a ton of bulk fresh pasta with real ingredients and you can taste the difference! The prices are also very reasonable. While I'm not a huge pasta fan, I could not resist from taking this pasta back home to Cali. So I got the lemon parsley pasta and the gluten free trum both are great! The lemon parsley flavor really came through in each bite. They also offer a chocolate pasta which I thought was interesting as well! This is a MUST if you are at Pike's. My family and I are totally into vinegar and oil. Pappardelle's has some of the best on the market. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and encouraged us to try as much as we wanted. WOW - I'm not a pasta fan but I'm certainly a fan of Pappardelle's! This pasta is insanely delicious and an explosion for your taste buds. I was visiting and the woman who helped me was really great - she was friendly, helpful and patient with me as I don't know anything about pasta, nor ever eat it so this was a little overwhelming for me. I took a bunch of different pastas home to give as gifts to my family and boy were they happy. I got the lemon, spinach herb; curry; chipotle; porcini mushroom; and lemon ginger. I got to try the porcini mushroom and the lemon ginger, both were phenomenal with just a little olive oil, grated cheese and fresh pepper. I love how they also give you a recipe for each pasta to really bring out the flavors. I'm now a converted pasta eater but will only have pasta if it's from Pappardelle's!!! I have yet to learn how to make pasta myself. Perhaps I have no reason to since I can go to Pappardell's Pasta. We found them at Pike Place Market and noticed they had Squid Ink Pasta. There was a Squid Ink Pasta dish at one of our favorite Italian restaurants in Seattle that I was meaning to replicate. (Squid ink pasta with a anchovie, capers and shallots sauce) It turned out very good. I made it for the family several times and they loved it. We've purchased many other pastas at Pappardelle's Pasta and really enjoy them in simple recipes. Some of the pastas don't really need much, for they taste great with a light sauce. Usually we bake a chicken and make a suace out of the drippings with a dash of white wine and other herbs/spices. It is simple and turns out amazing.
