I come here pretty often but I'm starting to see a change in quality of the food . The food I ordered was decent but I also ordered some food to go. It was packaged in a cardboard box ( I wish I had taken a picture) which I've never seen in all my years of visiting this restaurant. I asked the manager, Avery, and she said they've been doing it for years. Anyway, I looked past that and asked about another dish that had been packaged to go (but not in cardboard...hmm). It had not been separated but instead everything put in the same box and the jambalaya was running into the fried catfish creating a mushy mess! I applaud the manager. What a great place to take my colleagues to dinner who were looking for me to make suggestions. I live in Atlanta bit of work the ship channel for many years and love Pappas seafood. This is not Papadeaux but on the level of the same quality and service you would expect. In town for meetings all week, we came here again on my suggestion because I want to see food and I like Webster in clear Lake so we drove down six of us, got seated nearly immediately and had excellent service from Morgan who put up with us all night but Gave great recommendations. I first got a tall local IPA which was great and three dozen oysters to start along with some excellent calamari. We were all talking business a good bit but the oysters are fresh, we got the Bluepoint, and the calamari was fantastic. I had the grilled fish posted on the front of the menu which came three different ways but I like naked with mushrooms and some vegetables and not a lot of cream sauce. After a house salad I barely made it through my plate but what a great flaky white fish presentation and execution. My other buddies got other fish or fried platters and loved it. I knew Papa's would not let me down but this place was crowded well-managed and a lot of employees hustling which I like to see. Morgan was on top of all our needs and provided excellent service so thank you for a great night as I I was counting on a great meal with my business leaders. They all wanted to go downtown but I had to introduce them to the Webster Clearlake area because this is my home away from home for seafood sushi steaks, just ask me and I can tell you some of the finest places and far more relaxing than dealing with downtown. This restaurant just off the service road heading north off 45 in Webster, very large place and didn't disappoint. Highly recommend if you like seafood you come to Pappas seafood and you'll get more food than you can eat and enjoy every bit of it. Highly recommend! read more

I have been coming to Pappas rather frequently and more than one negative experience has brought me to review with just two stars. I have experienced hair in my food multiple times and a ridiculous "newly implemented" upcharge ($10 for switching boiled shrimp to grilled) that wasn't communicated to me until I saw my bill and asked about it. If something has changed from my visit two weeks prior, it should be communicated to customers. For the prices I pay at Pappas, I expect better. Along the Gulf Freeway just before it meets Bay Area Boulevard is an area I like to call the Pappas Complex. There's Pappasitos and Pappas Delta Blues Smokehouse, with this establishment right in between them. The penultimate day of 2019 was my first time dining here. My boss gave me a $40 gift card, but my cousin who was with me decided to cover our meal. I must say that while I'm impressed with the fancy yet laid-back atmosphere and the cordial, attentive staff, the shrimp and Cajun chicken tenderloins platter I ordered was subpar. I enjoyed the shrimp, wishing there would've been more. The chicken; however, was devoid of any flavor. If anything, there were more fries compared to the entrees. The accompanying cole slaw had a nice, tangy touch to it. Regarding the small bites, we were told we would enjoy a free appetizer since it was our first time there so we settled on the calamari and asparagus. Both were amazingly tasty. The dish was abundant enough to be a standalone meal. I'd like to return just to try a legit seafood meal. And perhaps, I could increase the number of stars. read more

This particular place was recommended by his clients, and bc my husband lived in Texas, he explained all the variations on the Pappas Pappadeux, Papasitos we saw on our drive. This location looked old with glass block corners, fish and lobster tanks, but the waiter and the food and drinks were phenomenal! My only complaint is he shoils have warned us that my seafood cocktail was enough for my meal! Dekicicious abd I took most of my entree back to the hotel for our iunch the next day! Almost all their fish entrees are topped with crab or shrimp and tasty sauces that don't overwhelm but compliment the dishes. Drinks were great; and it was my birthday celebration so I went back to the hotel with a giant slab of excellent cheesecake, which I later realized comes from one of the Pappa-xxx bakeries. What a great Texas chain of never disappointed punting restaurants! The 3 star relates to the service. Service was sooo slow and kept forgetting us. We ordered wine and the waiter forgot about it. We had to remind him 15-20mins later. Food took forever to come out. I might have a bias because Pappas is my favorite chain. I always find the food fresh tasting and well presented. I will admit, I only come to Pappas when there isn't a Pappadeux nearby. Their oysters are good, cheesecake here is fantastic (like all Pappas restaurants). My favorite thing to get here is the spinach dip because it comes with chunks of lump crab. I noticed the menu has reduced since the pandemic. Understandable. But Pappas Seafood hasn't given any implications of going back either. Oh well. Pappas Seafood is a staple in the Houston area and has always been my go-to seafood restaurant for a decent seafood dinner. Over all of the years I've been a Pappas fan I can honestly say that the food has been consistent and the service has been accommodating. Although the menu has started to change, most of my favorites have remained. Some of my fan favs are the crab & spinach dip, seafood fondue, seafood cobb salad, the fried seafood, and the pan seared salmon. The sautéed spinach is always a must, as well. Having moved from Texas to the West Coast in 2000 I always make it a point to make it to one Pappas restaurant or another, whether it's Pappas Seafood, Pappadeaux or Pappasito's and they never, ever disappoint!! Maintaining consistent excellence in product and service is a challenge in any business and these guys have done it year after year for as long as I can remember.
