Apparently reservations are preferred but I was able to get seats at a community high top table which was totally fine by me. I don't consider this place a romantic restaurant so sitting with other diners doesn't bother me. Service was good, food was good but because there is a lot of "fried" food options things got a little greasy. The Yuca Fries only had 6 pieces, the calamari could have been patted down more, and same with the churro dessert. We ordered the half chicken which was amaze- super juicy- always add this to your order. Overall, food is good but I would hands down prefer Limon in SF. read more

I made reservations through the phone and checked in about 15-20 minutes earlier and was seated right away. We did not like where we were seated only because it was in the front of the entrance and there was no heater around us so it was really cold. Luckily, we noticed another party leave and the table ended up being empty. We asked our waiter if we can be seated there instead since that section looked a bit cozier with a heater and luckily they were able to accommodate us. We decided to order tequinos, Mac n cheese, & a quinoa salad for appetizers to open up our appetite. The tequinos weren't all that great, it didn't have much flavor. The quinoa salad was good, but a bit to fruity for my taste. My husband absolutely loved the salad and finished it all within minutes. Also, you can never go wrong with Mac n cheese it always warms the soul. For the entree, we ordered the Lomo Salata & Seafood paella. I liked the paella a lot, but it was lacking flavor. It needed more salt, some more lemon, and onions to give it a kick. The Lomo salata was good, but I was not able to eat much of it because I was beginning to get full. I did have some of the fries on it which was warm and crispy just how I love it. The service Tony provided us with was marvelous! You have to try this place. I've been a dozen or so times and everyone I bring here falls in love. Food is great, ambiance is warm and staff is very attentive. Drinks are also delicious. Fabulous dinner at Parada Kitchen. During COVID, I'm trying to visit places that I haven't been to before or that I haven't noticed posted on our local food community. This was my first time at Parada, and everything was delicious! Since I went for the first time in July, I have been back several times because I am hooked on the empanadas! I started with the empanada sampler, and that was to die for. There is a beef, mushroom, and chicken empanada with the sampler, and they were all fantastic; I can't pick a favorite, but the mushroom and beef were both delicious. I will be going back to have these empanadas for sure! Andrea was my server, and she was terrific. I asked her about some of the different dishes and decided on the Pork Adobo, which was melt in your mouth delicious. It's a very saucy dish, so Andrea recommend a side of rice, and I have enough leftovers for another meal. The scalloped potatoes were also fabulous. They have a lovely outdoor patio, and even though it was 90ish, it was still cool on the patio area. Parking is pretty easy around there since it's close to Pleasant Hill BART. This is a convenient location at Walnut Creek especially when craving for Peruvian food. My favorite was the Cebiche Tasting which had a varietal of seafood to it, the quality and freshness of the seafood and had just the right amount of spice to it, and great with Yucca fries. I also Ordered the seafood paella it was just a little to moist, it would have been great if it was served in a paella pan, and needed a little crust on the bottom. I have been a HUGE fan of Parada for years until today. We arrived on time for our reservation. We first had the yuca chips and guacamole which were tasty. We ordered the empanadas and they were simply OKAY. The we ordered the Arroz Chaufa (fried rice) and I was really looking forward to it. The flavor was bland and there was a chicken bone in it. Thank goodness I did not eat it or worse, swallow it. We also had the Lomo Saltado which came out Luke warm with literally 6 bites of beef and the dish was $30. I asked for the fries on the side. Literally got 16 fries that were barely warm. After leaving the restaurant we passed by two diners that had the same dish and the fries were piled high. Hummm. After letting the wait staff know about the bone, she did not seem empathetic. Thought she might comp the dish. She did bring over 2 Alfajores which was a nice gesture. There were 3 of us dining and she brought 2 cookies. We were not planning on dessert. Unfortunately the cookies tasted like sawdust. Unfortunately it was not a good service or food experience. This is one of my favorite restaurants, and the first I've been back to visit since outdoor dining is now allowed (again). I've traveled to Peru a few times, and I love that Parada is both authentic yet elevated. Every dish is so great, I always order way more than I can eat in one sitting and enjoying having leftovers at home. Don't skip the ceviche, empanadas, palta Rellena, and the desserts. On a Covid note, the staff has been spraying down tables and chairs, everything is super clean, including the bathrooms, and you can see that the chefs are wearing masks. Bravo! read more

My Lady : Parada has the perfect serving portions and flavor ratios. It was very clean and we were in and out within an hour. I loved it! Me: If you are a picky eater or have allergies it's going be a little difficult to find a dish so go with the chicken lomo saltado. Crazy rich in spices!! Delicious! The drinks were the only thing I remembered to get a picture of because I was too excited when the food got there. The passionfruit juice drink was SO good and my husband loved the Pura Vida cocktail (spicy though, only get if you like jalapeño). The fried plantains were our favorite tapas. We ordered the wild mushroom empanadas but ended up with the sampler trio and didn't realize until I was 2/3 thru the chicken one. The corn and cheese ended up being our favorite empanada so we were fine with the mix up. The seafood paella was probably our least favorite- still good but we're probably not used to Peruvian style paella, it was more soupy and different flavored than paella I'm used to. What an experience. I've passed by this restaurant a million times and I've never been in, but it's always been busy with full seats inside and out. They also offer non-alcoholic drink options that range from $8-$14. Ordered fried plantains for an appetizer. They came chopped straight, mushy center but without the crispy edges and the burnt ends flavor. Instead, they come with a thin syrup that tasted mildly like Robitussin. Dinner was half chicken. My husband and I have eaten at this restaurant for sometime. The foods are delicious and small portions. Saturday night of two weeks ago, my husband and I went back for dinner and found out the portions of foods are smaller than before. We total ordered a salas and an appetizer for entree, and two main courses. Mine was the salmon with mango sauce, and my husband had the pescados. For mine, the favor and portions was all right for me but not the same for my husband. It was a piece of 2"x2"x1/2inches thick fish fillet placed on top of two pieces of morel mushroom and a few strips of veggies. For this small portion would be perfect for kids but not for a young and strong man. My husband said the taste of the mushroom is very delicious, but the fish fillet is just social. I wondered the effect of the restaurant to reduce the portions of foods maybe related to the rising inflation. Anyway, I will recommend that restaurant to anyone. Let me start off by saying that the food here is amazing. Probably one of the best Peruvian spots we've found in the Bay area. We loved the chips and guacamole, seafood paella, and plantains -- all things I highly recommend! The reason I'm leaving a low rating is that the service here was so confusing. We walked in when there were barely any people seated, waited a few minutes, I went to use the restroom, and we waited some more until we finally asked the bartender if there was a host available to seat us. When we ordered we were asked if we wanted any drinks, so we replied with water. A bottle of still water came out and we didn't realize that it would be $8 or that we had to specifically ask for tap water when requesting water. Before our server left to put in our order, they had asked if we wanted some chips and guacamole. Maybe I'm not familiar with servers asking me to add on a menu item after placing an order, but I assumed it wouldn't be charged similar to how some restaurants offer chips/salsa or bread on the house. All in all, it's great food, but be aware that they may find ways to get you to spend more than you're aware. read more
