They just couldn't get my order right--almost made me late for my plane and I didn't have time to get any coffee. I ordered a "chicken walnut salad on mixed greens" (verbatim off the menu board) and a ham and brie panini. First they thought I wanted a chicken salad sandwich AND a mixed greens salad AND the ham and brie panini. I clarified my order and added--"two items". She repeated "two items". Then they set a grilled chicken over mixed greens in front of me and I said "I think there was a misunderstanding--I want the chicken walnut salad over mixed greens. They finally got it right but then there was no time to go across the way to get a cup of specialty coffee (we had such a busy day we didn't have time to eat yet or me have any coffee). In fact, when we went to the gate, which was right next door--everyone had boarded already! I told my daughter, "Great--we finally get in the A group and didn't get to go on in the first group." The food was good but had a funny aftertaste like food that had been stored together and all took on the same flavor. Would choose another place next time. If the clerks spoke and understood English it would have helped.. Plus I got charged 50 cents for "extra item" even though I only ordered the 2 things. The Denver International Airport is a behemoth with lots of shopping, eating, and even a post office for weary travelers who find themselves delayed. Among the many eateries, Paradise Bakery and Cafe is among the best. The food there does not feel like airport food. Rather, it feels like a really good homemade sandwich. The Turkey Cranberry is probably the best item on the menu, although I also like their tuna sandwich. Every sandwich comes with a freshly baked cookie that is quite delicious. I don't necessarily like spending time at Denver International Airport, but whenever I find myself there, I make my way to Paradise Bakery and Cafe. They've also got a bar! read more

A very impressive showing at the Denver airport! After searching hither and yon for a sandwich that didn't suck and wasn't $11 a shot, Yelp lead us to Paradise bakery! Located on the upper level in the mid B concourse it contains both a bakery (on the right) and a lunch cafe. They have 7 or 8 sandwiches and a few wraps to choose from. The deal they run is the same as most chains - pick two things for $8.25 - half sandwich, cup of soup or a small salad. The paradise club was quite nice as was the turkey chipotle wrap. Both were surpisingly fresh and overall as good as you'd get at any Panera. The soups we had - chicken tortilla and fire roasted tomato were surprisingly good and actually tasted really fresh - much closer to made today than from a can and frozen. We had thoroughly enjoed what we expected to be a trending toward garbage meal and then the cookies came! Each meal come with a chocolate chip cookie and straight up, these are amazing. Crispy outside, little underdone in the middle and with tons a melty chocolate chips. I think they keep someones mom in the back making them! Overall, this was a great airport lunch. Good food, regular prices and easy in/out access to gates. It's near the middle of the terminal and the sandwich makers are machines. Well worth going to if you're in the airport and craving something a couple steps up from burger king, but for around the same price! read more

Located in the Denver airport, I stopped by this place during a layover looking for something good to eat. They had some chocolate fudge brownies that were calling out to me. They were displayed on a stand by the cash register so when I ordered one I was a little surprised when the girl behind the counter went to a fridge behind her and pulled one out. I was torn between rating Woody Creek (previously known as Paradise) Bakery and Cafe three stars and four stars, but then I remembered two things: 1) They're located in an airport (so I have to adjust expectations) 2) They have free cookie samples! I typically hit them up if I'm traveling early in the morning and would like to grab some oatmeal to go. While the menu says "oatmeal in an oatmeal cookie bowl," you can actually wise up and forgo making breakfast into dessert by having them omit the cookie and put the oatmeal in a regular to-go bowl. This is the great thing about the free cookie samples, you see. You can munch on just a few and thereby forgo seeing how all the grease in a full-size cookie makes the paper bag it's put in completely translucent. Apart from that, the employees work pretty quickly in the morning, so you can get in, get out, and get on your plane on time. Boo-yah. read more

Every time I have a layover in Denver I hit up Paradise, secretly I want to have a free cookie with my somewhat healthy meal! :) I love their fire roasted tomato soup. On the last visit I tried the half Chicken walnut sandwich to go with my soup and it was very good. The portion size is large for a half of sandwich, I ordered half of a wrap on previous visits but that's very small and not as good. I love their warm chocolate chip cookies!! On my last visit it was freezing at all the tables, I had to put on my winter coat to eat. Also a lot of the tables were dirty and it wasn't a busy time! read more

GF & I grabbed some dinner here before our flight home to Chicago. We had a late departure and didn't want to be hungry when we got back into Chicago. I got the club sandwich which came on an over-sized croissant. She got a turkey chipotle wrap. They were around $8.50 each, which was a bit much, but it's at the airport so what do you expect? I must say that the free cookie helped soften the blow. My club was good, nothing amazing. It definitely got the job done. Good turkey and some crispy bacon. I could have done without the massive lettuce leaves though. Although I did not try my gf's, she said it was good. Didn't look like it fell apart like wraps tend to do from time to time. Overall it's a nice, easy place to grab something not soaked in grease. Prices are a touch high, but again you're at the airport so it's convenience that's the key. read more

Now I may be a tad bit partial since I work at DIA, but I think Paradise Bakery is a godsend. The Walnut Chicken Salad is heavenly, big chunks of white meat chicken with the perfect blend of fruits and nuts mmm mmmm mmmm. With that said, the service is also fantastic. The people preparing the food all seem to be well groomed and clean lol, because we all know how important that is. Always a pleasant visit to Paradise. read more
