    Onion rings are delicious.

So a couple of weeks ago we ordered our food with full anticipation and on the brink of hangar. We expected it to arrive within 40 minutes via GrubHub. An hour went by...my belly started to scream. I opened the app to check order status and it asked how my delivery went. Uh... WHAT DELIVERY?! Advance through the calls/moans/groans. I went out to get food, was about to eat a different meal and I got a call from Paradise Cafe. They apologized profusely and explained that my order never actually made it to their restaurant through their GrubHub delivery system computer. Paradise offered to give me a free meal to try them out again and promised it would be better. Its weeks later and we never took them up on the offer but I remembered that this place had some unique food and I was tired of fast food. Today I ordered the Onion Rings, Meatball Sub with Mozarella, Philly Cheesesteak, Gyro with fries, and ceasar salad. Everything was excellent, delivered within 25minutes (fast!) and hot and fresh. I absolutely love the full flavor of the meatball sub but found the Gyro lacking. I lived in Europe so I am used to the fresh shaved Gyro meat and this looked like pre-cut cooked slices. It still had a decent flavor but needed more umph with the red pepper and a different tzatiki sauce. The Caesar salad croutons were the best but they used iceberg lettuce instead of romaine which threw off the flavor. I enjoyed the spices they put on the huge croutons. Yum! The onion rings were normal, decent, possible slightly over-fried but I would order again. Definitely check out the meatball sub. That sauce and cheese...holy moly! My husband said he also enjoyed the Philly Cheesesteak. It was very filling. And the grubhub guy told me at delivery that he really liked their little restaurant. He said he never been so he said he'd check it out himself too!

We had a lovely meal at the Paradise Cafe. Ollie was amazing. Her made sure we were ok and got what we needed. The food was fresh and cooked based on when we ordered. The food was great. We will definitely go back.

My sister and her boyfriend invited me to breakfast at Deusenbergs but that place was PACKED! 1 hour wait! I then checked to see if there was another place near the area that served breakfast. This place was it. We came in and it's a small family? diner. Really small but cozy! We sat down and the menu was small, yay! Small, simple and had everything you wanted for a good breakfast. I got 1 order of 2 eggs and sausage and another order of just 2 eggs. 4 eggs sunny side up, 2 pieces of sausage, and 2 slices of bread. Pop the eggs onto the bread, having it soak the juices up, then putting a sausage on it and taking a bite?.... This is why I love breakfast. Home cooked meals that makes you happy! The service was fast, food was good, and the owner was very friendly! They don't accept tips from credit/debit cards but luckily there are ATM's nearby at the 7 Eleven and liquor store.

They only take cash ATM is across the street inside 7-11 This is what my belated dear grandfather would have called a dirty spoon in a good way. I can picture him in a booth every morning for coffee and newspaper. Knowing everyone's name that walked in. The food is cooked to order and you get the feeling of being at her (chef) dining room table. The portions are huge.

We started with Potato Cakes with crème fraiche, they had a nice crunch, a tender interior with subtle flavor. I'd never had them with crème fraiche, it was a nice change and the mild tanginess with the creamy texture complimented the Cakes well. I ordered the Main Street with Weisswurst, a Pretzel and plain Spätzle. It was my first, the veal's flavor is understated in comparison to Bratwurst or Knackwurst (not on the menu) and was a pleasant changeup. The Pretzel was little disappointing while it was a decent pretzel, it lacked the crisp crust and distinctive flavor I expected. As evident by the rating while worthy of note, it's not a game changer. I'd ordered a large plain Spätzle, which was two regular portions, but was served Spätzle with cheese I tasted it and it wasn't my thing, which is not to say it was bad, I just don't care for cheese in dishes like that. Our server swapped one cheese for plain (my wife had happily stolen the other) and enjoyed the replacement. I found that the grilled onions gave it a nice homey flavor. Mistakes happen and it turned out to be a win in the end. We shared a couple of desserts and by far, my favorite was the Black Forest Cupcake. It's on the large side, they might be able to cut on the weighty crème icing, the chocolate cake and soaked cherries were a delight. The cherries are a significant improvement over the Marchinos I had before, if only there were more. Rathskeller can get a little loud, as it is a relatively small space with hard surfaces so voices reflect, it wasn't packed this afternoon, so it wasn't an issue. Waitstaff dresses very casually, it pleasant and fairly attentive.

Just note, this is a legit country store, offering random canned items, dried goods, toys, collectibles, drinks, snacks, and even hot food. We saw a patron come in, looking for charcoal, and there was a bag hiding behind the front door! We stopped by, as we had heard about Mr. Jay's famous burgers - we ordered one to share, open to any toppings he recommended - ours came with fresh Romaine lettuce, sliced onions, a hot pepper spread, sliced fresh jalapenos, cheese, and mayo, all nestled in a locally baked bread. This was a simple, but a tasty burger! The freshly-ground beef is picked up every morning, from the slaughterhouse that is across the street; I don't really want to think about that all too much, but just know that what you're getting is some fresh proteins! This is a familiar place that updates the look and menu now and then, yet still feels like home. We often get a beet salad when it's available. Matthew's is scrumptious, with tender sweet juicy roasted beets, tasty grilled chicken, red onion slices and fresh spinach, tangy crumbled bleu cheese, and delightful candied walnuts, complimented by tart raspberry vinaigrette. By the way, it's gluten-free. We loved the rich cream of crab soup du jour, full of crab lumps and full of flavor, with a little spice from good old Old Bay. Delicious and dreamy. Their quesadillas were served a la carte as an appetizer, loaded with savory roasted chicken, heavy with a mild cheese and a lightly spicy flavorful thick red sauce, rolled in tender lightly seared flour tortillas. Generous and satisfying. Matthew's building dates from around 1862 as a station and hotel at the end of a horse-car line, before electricity! It's been through around 5 names over the years, and has been the Parsons family's Matthew's 1600 since 2004. We've felt comfortable and welcomed here for decades. It has plenty of free parking in their own lot. By the way, many of their already reasonable prices are discounted a little if you pay cash. Upon sitting down I was told they has a berry mojito special so I ordered. It was not good so I only had two sips. Next I ordered the sirloin dinner that was on special. As soon as the sliced steal was placed in front of me I knew it would not be goid. It looked unappealing. Sort of like boiled meat instead of a grilled steak. I took a bite. It was so bad I asked for steak sauce. It was still horrible. I only ate two of the pre-cut slices and told the waitress it was by far the WORST steak I ever had and said I would have wings instead. The wings were good as always. This horrible meal ended up costing me $56 for the uneaten steak dinner, horrible mojito I did not drink, and the wings. The bartender was nice. I use to bartend and if I noticed a customer not drinking a drink I made, i would have asked if they wanted anything else, or I would have remade the drink. The bartenders were nice so I left an $8 tip . This ended up being the most expensive buffalo wings I ever had.
