One of the best kept secrets in Fredericksburg!. From tasty breakfasts all day to filet of sole stuffed with crab (a favorite), this little diner holds its own against others out there. Ugh. Dinner was barely edible. Rolls were burnt. Lasagna was a lump if stuff. Spaghetti was too salty with almost no shrimp.

1st time going. Lived in the area for years and just stopped by today. We waited at least 30 minutes for our food which is not ideal. That irritated me a little but I thought the food would make up for it. Maybe they were in the back making the pasta by hand...nope. It wasn't bad...it was just ok. Well, the onion rings were good. I ordered the pasticcio and he ordered the Greek spaghetti. His spaghetti was rather oily and had him running to the bathroom but it tasted good. My food was...unusual to me. It tasted bland at first but then some unfamiliar flavor. I'll probably try them again because there were desserts I wanted to try but I won't order that dang pasticcio again.. read more

The eggs Benedict here is my absolute favorite! It's a huge portion. Coffee is always hot and fresh. It's my sons favorite place for breakfast. We make a trip usually once a month, it's worth the drive from where we live. Staff is always so nice, too! read more

Paradise Diner is the Oasis to my Desert. This is my absolute favorite place to go for breakfast in Fredericksburg. The food is amazing and the staff is so friendly they make you feel like family. My go to meal is the Spinach Omelette. It has feta, spinach, and bacon.It can be made as is or with egg whites if you would like. The meal comes with your choice of home fries or grits and toast or a biscuit. I always choose grits and a biscuit. I have never had grits this good. They are better than the ones my nana makes. (Don't tell her I told you that. I will deny deny deny). They are so buttery and creamy I don't need to add anything to them. OMG and the biscuit. It's big and fluffy and comes with this homemade whipped butter What?! I always pair it with the Smucker's apple butter they have at the table. Now you probably won't have room or even think about dessert but you should. Get it to go if you have to. My favorite is the baklava cheesecake. My life was once again changed at how amazing it was. The rich cheesecake in between the gooey layers of baklava. My mouth is watering now just thinking about. I will always make time to visit Paradise when I am in Fredericksburg. I was a regular at this place ordering food typically once a week. Jimmy and his wife have sold it and unfortunately it is not the same. My go to meal was the souvlaki platter and the homemade garlic ranch dressing was addictive. I don't know what recipes they are making but though not bad, they're just not as good. I am modifying my review to 3 stars as they do give you a good amount of food and it's fresh! Just need to tweak the Greek recipes to match the original recipes that tasted so amazing!! read more

Worst Chicken Parmesan I've ever had. And I eat a lot of Chicken Parm. A lot. Someone in my party works in a hospital, and said that the hospital's stuffed pepper is much better. Another person got the Pork Parmesan, said it was terrible. We ordered a desert, and it tasted like it was three weeks old. Service was good. Food was overall disgusting. Somehow they even screwed up linguine. How do you make simple linguine taste bad? Don't go here unless you want an awful meal. McDonalds is a better choice. read more

While the diner doesn't look like much, it is filled with locals and good smelling food. The cakes when you first walk immediately captivate your attention and are delicious as well. We were greeted and seating after walking in the door lots to choose from on the menu we ordered the stuffed pepper and Domenico steak meals AMAZING everything was perfectly cooked! After seeing all the options for dessert we had to order one to try! The Raspberry Cheesecake was the perfect fit to a perfect meal!! And now for the final thing cost.... After reading the reviews I decided to check out the local diner. Big mistake! We were quickly seated and ordered our food. About 25 minutes later we received our calamari and saganaki flaming cheese. We waited another 25 minutes before I asked the waitress the status of our salads. She stated that she is waiting on the kitchen. As we waited other customers that arrived after us were getting their main meals. Needless to say we had to leave do to waiting over 50 minutes. We never received our lasagna and a NY strip. Additionally, they have a bad fly problem. Fly's were everywhere as customers couldn't eat peacefully as they were frequently swatting them away. We were pretty bummed when Jimmy the Greek's on 610 closed, but happy to see this open closer to our house! It is pretty much the same menu, because I believe it has been opened by his son. Our first impression was the reserved parking for combat wounded veterans (see my photo). Awesome. Inside is also very "veteran friendly", so this was the first point in their favor. All the waitresses we encountered were super friendly and very efficient. My wife and I shared the stuffed mushroom for a starter and it was really good. I had the stuffed pepper for my main course; it was fantastic. My wife had the Moussaka. While it wasn't the best moussaka she'd ever had (to be fair, we've been to Greece!), it was delicious. Everything was perfectly seasoned, and even the fries were crispy and hot. It was a Friday evening and fairly crowded. We were happy to see that. This place is fantastic, and we are thrilled to have good Greek food so close to us. read more

We have been coming here a few times a year. Food was reliable and service good. Neither is true now so I am not sure if new Mgmt or why the dramatic difference. Waited 5 mins for menu, 15 mins before waitress returned for order all the while she was doing other tasks that should come second to customer service. Ordered triple decker no mayo but it came with mayo. Fries tasted and looked like they were twice cooked. Wife ordered chicken panini and chicken was hard on outer layers and chewy. Really looked more like a chicken sandwich and not a panini. I don't think we will be back which is unfortunate but perhaps they will take a look at their operations and change before they lose their regulars. read more

I had a biscuit egg and bacon sandwich. You have to add cheese for extra if you want that. It was perfect. The biscuit is AMAZING. Fluffy and flavorful. Got a side of hash and it was ok at first bite but way too salty thereafter. Added ketchup to it and weirdly was able to stomach it. Hubby had the country fried steak breakfast and he absolutely loved it. Eggs done perfectly over easy. He was very happy with his meal and had already wanted another plate after he was done. Dessert!!!!! It looked amazing so we had to try. The waiter walked with us to the dessert case and told us what each dessert was (there were no labels). One of the owners(?) had a Greek accent so hubby decided on the Greek cheesecake. He LOVED it. It was light (not heavy or thick like regular cheesecake). I had an oreo cake - an individual small round cake on bottom with oreo cream on top. I liked that it wasn't too sweet. Dessert was quite pricey (around $7 each portion) but they were big portions. Sharing one between two people would be ideal. We'll definitely be back for breakfast food and wish they'd have it all day long (instead of stopping at 3pm). Wow. So we read the reviews for this place and figured it would be a decent substitute for mason Dixon cafe. Boy were we wrong. First all the food came out scattered and at different times. Orders were forgotten. The sausage gravy was just gravy with lumps of flour. The biscuits were like sawdust and the country fried steak was mush. Service was good and the staff did their best but man did the food suck. The flaming cheese was frozen when it came out to us and hard as a rock. The Bloody Mary looked like they had just ripped a celery stalk from a bunch and thrown it in. Overall: staff was great. Food was worse than a ihop. read more

Called in an order since it was almost closing time, the cook answered (says he was the owner as well), told me promptly that they were closing in 40 minutes, and I said I will be in and out. He drops the phone and starts talking in another language and minutes later the waitress Laurie I believe (the name she gave me) says what do you want me to do to the cook and then The phone gets hung up. I arrive literally 2 minutes later, and I asked the waitress why they hung up on me and the cook/owner comes out and says if you want the food, sit down if not then leave, "I'm tired and been working all day. Then says I don't care what you do just leave and get out. All of this in front of customers. I have been going here for almost 6 years now. Totally unacceptable and showed zero remorse. Stay away from this place and don't bring children around this place. My kids would have freaked out with how angry and loud he got. Please do yourself a favor stay away. Visiting family in Stafford, my mother-in-law told us she wanted to eat at this new Greek restaurant she had tried and liked, so hubby and I took her there for lunch. It was very crowded, but we didn't have to wait for a table. Our server, Sandy, greeted us promptly and was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer, which arrived quickly, but was mediocre with way too much breading, and not enough flavor. MIL had the Greek salad, which was huge, and came with wedges of pita bread, lots of feta, olives, onions, tomatoes and cukes. Her only complaint was that there was not meat in the salad. Hubby had the chicken souvlaka plate, which he said was really good. I had the lamb shish kabob, and it was a bit disappointing. The sauce didn't have much flavor, and the lamb was overcooked and dry. I got the French onion soup to go with my meal, instead of the side salad, and I wish I'd gone with the salad. My family raved about this place so I expected a lot, which may be why I was a little disappointed with my food. I first got a hot tea for my drink. The tea was...not that hot, but at least it came with honey and there was half and half at the table. I ordered pancakes and two scrambled eggs for breakfast. It took a while to get our food, and when it came we realized we hadn't been given utensils. The three pancakes were pretty small, and one was weirdly significantly smaller than the others. But I was super sad that the pancakes came out lukewarm and the eggs were almost cold. It was a fairly disappointing breakfast that probably could have been good had it been hot. The service was friendly but slow and the prices are thankfully pretty good. Not sure I'd come back except for the desserts in the display case at the front. read more

Road trip, road stop. In the mood for a hardy breakfast; weeded through the many fast food offerings in the area of Fredricksburg, VA. Settled on the Paradise Diner based on the Yelp reviews and my many past experiences with Greek diners (mostly good) in the USA. Friendly greeting when I walked in and got a brief history lesson from waitress Robin about this new diner. What can I say, I like history :-) Many of the standard selections one expects from a diner menu; waitress Robin suggested that the sausage gravy and chipped beef were favorites. People drive from afar to get their fix. I opted for chicken fried steak, with potatoes and choice of gravy. I asked for both (for sampling purposes of course :-) and was happily obliged, and was allowed to substitute a biscuit (I'm told they are handmade) for toast. Wow, food just arrived while typing last paragraph. I'm going to pause while I eat... Yes! Food was fresh and delicious. Portion was good size and yes, the gravy was finger licking good. And the biscuit was obviously fresh made; flavor and texture were perfect and steamy hot when I cut into it. The chicken fried steak, eggs and "home fries" (fried sliced potatoes with bits of green pepper and onions) were average; taken altogether an enjoyable, hardy breakfast, which is just what I wanted. On a scale of 1-5 (3 being average) this place is a solid 4, but I'll give it 5 for the exceptional service. Thank you Robin. P.S.
