Meat Lover Burrito - stuffed full!
    Tanya S.

The Crazy Pancake and Paradise Pizza have merged into one great combination providing both breakfast and lunch or dinner. We really love the Crazy Pancake in Plainville. The staff and owner are always so very sweet to us and everyone from what I've seen. We are thrilled to have them in New Britain. It's so nicely set up in this location now. It's huge and looks like it would be a great venue for big families and baby shower events, etc.. As I always say, I'll be back!

This place has become my go-to for a couple of inexpensive slices for lunch; they recently had an ownership change, a bit of a rebranding (Crazy Pancake / Paradise Pizza), and some nice interior renovation. Along with that (finally) some social media presence as well! Definitely looks brighter and busier inside - fingers crossed that this becomes a solid option for breakfast and lunch. The slices are still available but much more attractively displayed and lighted, and more options that the usual cheese / pepperoni with an occasional sausage.

The food is really good and great size servings with fair prices!! I love that you can get breakfast and most items on the menu anytime of the day. The chop steak with grilled onions and mushrooms is so delicious!! The BLT and crêpes are also great!! We've tried several things and happy with everything and have been there 4 to 5 times now. Don't let it mistake you with older reviews of the last owners. These are the new owners in this last nine months or so. The service was very friendly also.

    Slice of cheese

I've driven by a bunch of times and noticed the sign that says they have slices. I finally stopped for a lunch time slice. There was a warming case that had what looked like a relatively fresh cheese pizza. While I waited a minute for somebody to help me, I had time to look around. There is an inside seating area, but I wouldn't call the atmosphere a selling point. The person who helped me was friendly enough. A slice of cheese pizza cost $2.50. I didn't ask if they could add toppings, but I know some similar places do that. For me, this slice was below average but certainly edible. I'd call it Greek pan style. The slice was heavier than most, and the crust was thick, soft and chewy. The sauce and cheese were both fine, but didn't really pop. I'm cool with Greek style pizza, but the crust on this one was a little too bready for me. Two Stars. If this pizza was at someone's house, I would eat it, but I live 10 minutes away and I have many other options that I prefer in the area.

How I haven't reviewed paradise before is beyond me. We decided to stop on a Friday night for dinner. We split mozz sticks and a large pizza half mushrooms. One of the best pizzas in the area.

French Fries with Cheddar Cheese Sauce. Very good.

Service is very friendly. Food very good. Very generous portion sizes.we ordered the cheese fries as an appetizer and they were done perfectly.I would go there just for those that's how good they were.

My first visit after hearing rave reviews. Very disappointed. I ordered penne marinara. Here is what arrived. Never in my life have I ever had mushy, reheated-tasting pasta drowning in BROWN Marinara sauce. The salad dressing tasted waxy and not as good as bottled. The bread was chewy and steaming, heated in a microwave. Check out Yanni's in Newington for a much better experience.

Would not recommend, horrible lack of customer service and basic food knowledge, avoid at all costs if you have food allergies.

It's not trying too hard, and that's exactly why it works. Feels like a spot where regulars post up, sip coffee, and take their time. No rush, no nonsense, ust good energy. And then the sandwich shows up... and flips the script. This isn't breakfast. This is a stacked, unapologetic morning statement. The Overloaded Egg Sando Griddled brioche bun, soft, buttery, just enough toast to hold things together (barely). Under that, a crispy hash brown doing the heavy lifting, adding crunch and soaking up all the goodness. Sausage brings that savory backbone, while the spinach scrambled eggs stay fluffy and rich. Then you get that creamy hit from the smashed avocado, melted smoked gouda layering in a subtle smokiness, and finally... the gochujang aioli. That aioli is the move. Sweet heat, a little funk, a little tang, cuts right through the richness and keeps every bite from getting too heavy. And let's be honest... Had to unhinge my jaw like a snake just to take the first bite. This thing is messy, stacked, and fully committed to the cause. Not first-date food. Not "eat it in the car" food. This is sit-down, take-a-minute, maybe-need-a-nap-after kind of food. The best part? The space balances it perfectly. Big, bold sandwich... calm, easygoing room. That's a combo I'll go back for every time.

The Sunny Side dish pictured usually comes with hollandaise sauce but I don't care for it so requested it not be added. There was a sense of Deja Vu when we drove into their parking lot, because at a bare minimum, TD Homers, Bickford's, and I think Howard Johnsons were here once upon a time. As far as casual dining modestly priced. "family" restaurants go; Ellie's Farmhouse was about as good as it gets. The interior is spacious and I liked the way the booths and seating in general were well spaced so you weren't on top of another party. The dining room has a country feel to it, with wide wood plank flooring. Service was stellar and we have to give a shout-out to our wonderful server Dawn. She was everything you want in a server -personable, funny, entertaining, informative, and just plain excellent. Our lunch started off with an unusual complimentary dish. Have you ever had apple slices sprinkled with cinnamon as a free starter before? I bet your answer was "no". Their menu offers breakfast and lunch from 8:00 - 2:00 during the week and until 3:00 on the weekend. I asked Dawn why Ellie's isn't open for dinner, and she said it was the owner's decision so he could spend more time with his family every day! We both went into the breakfast menu for lunch and my wife chose a Western Omelet with onions, peppers, ham, cheddar cheese, Served with one slice of toast and your choice of home fries, hashbrowns, or tots for $14.50. I went for their Breakfast Burrito with scrambled eggs, shredded potatoes, peppers, onions, black beans, pepper jack cheese, fresh guacamole with chipotle aioli and sour cream on the side for $12. It was offered with the same choice of home fries, hashbrowns, or tots. Added protein will cost you $2. I didn't add any protein, but I did ask for hot sauce and Dawn let me know their hot sauce is house made and has a $1 surcharge. My reasonably priced $3 iced coffee was strong and flavorful and very good. Both portions were enormous so half of each came home with us. My burrito was delicious, and that hot sauce was pretty much at the upper limit of my tolerance threshold. We were both very impressed with every aspect of our lunch at Ellie's.

The place was buzzing with activity. We got to seat at the front counter so I couldn't see the dining room but I enjoyed watching everyone working together to make everything happen. One of the things that caught my attention was the juicer. They have an actual orange juice machine and I wanted to try that juice so bad and when ai did I couldn't believe how good it tasted. Our food was good also, the only thing I didn't like was how small the portions were, you can actually count my potatoes, by the time the dish made it to me they were cold. Pancakes very plain. Im a huge fan of eggs Benedict so I decided to try the country Benedict( 4th of July special) , a bit dry because of the biscuit and not enough sauce but tasted good. I would come back for the OJ

There was a little ice cream cone in the middle of the French toast filled with more cream cheese. Thank goodness we shared this, even then we couldn't finish it.
