When exploring Bishop Arts, this place caught my eye before they opened and now they're finally opened and it is gorgeous! The patio area is sooo nice and they even decorated for holidays to make it even more festive. Friends and i stopped by for a couple of drinks at the patio bar since the weather was perfect 70s, didn't have a problem finding an open spot. Our bartender was super friendly and helpful with recommendations. The drinks we ordered were Paradiso 75 for me, Without A Trace, Wildberry Smash and mimosa for others. I really enjoyed my drink, it was super bubbly and refreshing. Only thing with friends drink was he said the quantity for wildberry smash was a little less but when he ordered mimosa, it more than made up for that! A leaf even landed inside his drink (what are the chances) and the bartender replaced it no problem :') First impressions are pretty good for grabbing some drinks for a chill Sunday! I absolutely love the Bishop Arts area which is super cute and has such an amazing atmosphere. I would highly recommend that someone on the culinary staff look into the roasted delicate squash which is served on the menu. It was not right and tasted like dried vegetables. We have been eyeing Paradiso ever since it popped up! Was a little skeptical after reading some reviews but had an opposite experience than most! Loved the food but service was soso! The manager was great! The were coming off Valentine's Day weekend so it still had that hectic vibe going on! They were out of the wine we requested, but that was no big deal, we got a bottle of our second choice! Our server wasn't the most attentive and seem to visibly be frustrated with his job! We usually receive great service everywhere in Dallas, don't know what was going on that day! The food was amazing! We got the meatballs, lamb, and steak! All amazing and cooked well! Would NOT recommend this place to any locals or visitors. Its a shame to see a space this beautiful get butchered by its terrible kitchen. The food is either undercooked, overcooked or burnt, followed by a service that is mediocre at best. Sweet corn pasta was the first dish we ordered where neither the pasta nor the corn was cooked properly which made the plate inedible and was returned to the kitchen immediately, yet still they charged us for. We were then advised to try the salmon dish which they are apparently known for. We so enjoyed this place!!! Everything was great from the drinks to the entrees. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out. Drinks were great - we had an amazing Tempranillo and my Pumpkin Spice Martini was everything I could have wanted and more. It's very hit or miss... sangria was not good at all (even though a lot of tables had ordered that). They also sat us inside even though there were at least 15 empty tables outside (yes I counted them). They said they were full of reservations.... when we left an hour and a half later, still at least 10 tables open outside. So pretty disappointing with the lack of flexibility. The food was good. We took my sister to this chic spot for her birthday and we're so glad we did. The service was phenomenal! I believe the waiter's name was Ted. He was so attentive and quite comical. I figured the ambiance was great and so was the service so the food would probably be mediocre, but boy was I wrong! For starters, we had the FRESH bread, olives and almonds, and fried artichokes that was accompanied by homestyle ricotta. The Palestine spiced chicken was baked just right and gushed with flavorful juices. I stole a slice of my sister's Italian house sausage pizza and wanted to go in for a second. I had heard mixed reviews regarding Paradiso, so I decided to try them out for a good old Dallas Saturday Brunch with my teenage daughter and a few friends. While the atmosphere is nice, along with the super Instagrammable decor.. I must admit I was extremely disappointed with my food - which at the end of the day, was why we were there. Bottom line, I ordered the hash and it was flavorless and cold. Not to mention, my sweet potatoes were VERY undercooked. As in, crunchy and raw. I sent it back, only for it to come out again the same way. I let them know and did my best to eat around it, but basically I ended up having a very small portion of shredded brisket and egg for brunch. However the meat was cooked to perfection. My daughter had pizza, but we weren't impressed for it to be $14. I will say that I felt everyone was very nice about it, so I have no complaints about the service whatsoever. It was apparent they all felt bad. I later ended up seeing an employee in the restroom who apologized, but she also admitted that they were just a cute restaurant with less than desirable food. Yikes. Additionally, one friend I was with is vegan and she was assured the soup she ordered was a vegan option. Once she received her food she was pretty sure she could taste cheese. When she asked the serve if it had cheese, she was told this was not the case. Still, she felt something wasn't quite right, so she politely declined to eat it - just to be on the safe side. She later gave a review via IG and someone from the restaurant reached out to her and apologized because the soup was in fact NOT vegan, but simply VEGETARIAN. They invited her back for another chance to make it right. I also posted a review of my experience on my IG stories, complete with very IG worthy pictures. The restaurant reposted my pretty picture - but totally failed to comment on my review. Hmph! Needless to say, I most likely won't be returning for anything other than a drink and only if invited by a friend.. After all, you can't "Brunch So Hard" with a crappy brunch. read more

Like flies to a brightly-lit, tropical paradise of a restaurant, my boyfriend and I were drawn to Paradiso for the weekend of its grand opening. The restaurant is an impressive space that transports you out of Dallas and somewhere into the Mediterranean- or is it the tropics? Either way, I have not been to a restaurant in Dallas quite like this, in the best way possible. I had a feeling that if a restaurant looked this good, there must be a trade-off with subpar food... and I was right. There really is nothing special about anything we ordered. Pacing of orders was strange as well. I am not one to complain about quick service but our fried artichokes were brought out literally a minute after we ordered them. We munched on the lonely bowl of artichokes for 30 minutes before the rest of our order came out all at once and barely fit on our small table. I always rolls my eyes when I go to bishop arts because of PARKING. Driving up to Paradiso I noticed two valet stands on either side of the street and I actually got a parking spot literally across the street from the entrance (the Brunch Gods were showing me favor that day!). The entrance is actually on the side of the building so you get to walk through all of their inviting outdoor seating before walking into the restaurant. "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" by Whitney Houston was playing, I heard a bottle of champagne opening, and I was sat immediately. Does life get any better than that?! The crowd is mixed. Some people dressed in Instagram perfect outfits and others dressed very casually. Young and old and then...me (sitting at a table alone). This is such a beautiful restaurant you literally can't help but take a photo. It's like an itch you've got to scratch. Food: I sat down and ordered the Paradiso Soda (per the suggestion of my waitress). It was fresh, pretty, and so good I drank it too fast and forgot it had alcohol (sorry not sorry). I also ordered bread and their parm french fries (because carbs are my love language). The bread was hot, fresh, and had olive oil, and ricotta. The french fries were good. Have I had better, yes, but I'd order them again. If you're not an adventurous eater they have a great pizza/(arugula) salad combo option that will appeal to all the picky eaters out there. Pricing: Fair. I came with $40 in my pocket hoping I could eat/drink off of that alone. I ended up spending exactly $40 on my meal (cocktail, french fries, bread, and entree). Was it worth it? Yes. That's A LOT of food. Service: you're going to have to show some patience and grace. Since they just opened they're (naturally) still working out some kinks and this is clearly one of them. Service is a bit slow. Will I come back: Absolutey! Next time my girlfriends want to meet for brunch/dinner I'm definitely recommending this restaurant. We came here last night on their soft opening. Because of this we weren't expecting perfection, but they have a lot to improve on. The atmosphere is bright and airy with tons of plants and high ceilings. We were sat at a high top bar table. (My 2cents-maybe add purse hooks to these tables) Our server (Aleana?- pretty sparkle eye shadow) was terrific. We started with cocktails. I had the Paradiso Soda and my bf got the Zio Pepe. Both drinks were great. To start, we ordered two appetizers, shrimp cocktail ($12) and toasted fregola ($13), and a pasta, cacio e pepe ($14). The pasta came out first and it was good but nothing to get excited about. My bf was disappointed. Then our apps came which were upsetting. The shrimp cocktail came with 4 lukewarm shrimps on top of sauce and random slices of warm celery. I've had it better thawed out from a grocery store. The fregola was just all around bad - meat was dry, sauce was gross, presentation ugly. We were planning on going all out with the food but we had to stop here. My sister asked to sit outside and the person who was helping her said in a not so friendly way, "you have to eat fast because we need the table by 6:30." We believe he was the manager. We sat down outside and the place was not very full, it was about 4:30. When my sister told me what had happen it left a bad taste in our mouth. It was our first time and I'm visiting from Miami. After several visits I have decided that this restaurant is best for having cocktails with friends and a few shared dishes. I recommend the craft cocktails, the oysters, and the pasta. I haven't enjoyed my attempts to do a full multi course dining experience here as much as I have enjoyed the former. The ambiance is glamorous in a light, feminine way. Large windows, pink velvet upholstery, gold accents, not your dark broody kinda romantic. I love it daytime, near or at the bar, with friends. The menu is pretty great but I don't score it as high as the ambiance, cocktails or service. The outdoor area is stunning and I like it after sunset when the weather is cooperative. Large trees, fountains, elegant seating. There are heat lamps. The restaurant is located in the Bishop Arts area. Definitely allow some time to walk the area and enjoy the cute shops. FINALLY a bishop arts restaurant that is able to accommodate large group!! Paradiso's atmosphere does not disappoint. It's got lots of natural lights, it's open, and very trend--a perfect insta opportunity. The food is a different story. I was not as impressed. It was good, but not great (certainly not as great as the restaurant interior and shared patio). To start, I had the lavender oysters. I was immediately intrigued by lavender and oyster paired. Theses were delicious and I would order again. We ordered a pizza, which again was good, but not great. For the price, I thought it would be slightly bigger or offer something more spectacular. My biggest disappointment was the pasta. We ordered the lamb ragout. The lamb meat was both tender and flavorful; the house made pasta, very bland. The pasta dish almost needed more flavor besides the meat. Maybe a sauce. The pasta just didn't seem to have much going for it. Would I eat here again? Probably. The menu still said "opening menu" so I'll give some time to improve. I would probably order the half pizza half salad next time and try the crispy brusselsprouts. read more

I was visiting my family for the holidays and my daughter suggested we visit this restaurant based on reviews from her friends. I made a reservation and we went on a busy Friday night in December 2019. There is so much I want to say, but I'll try to keep it short. Ambience- Beautiful decor, aesthetics and the vibe is a casual elegance. Everyone from the staff to the patrons had an elevated casual style, without being too pretentious. Experience- This reminded me of Catch-LA but with a Dallas twist. Although we had reservations, you still had to wait, but you could sit or stand in the bar area and order drinks and small bites while waiting. The best thing about this is you didn't feel you were waiting because you enjoyed the pre-course experience. Everyone from the hostess, to your servers were so attentive and enthusiastic; apologizing for any wait, and making sure you didn't need anything. Food- The food and drinks were phenomenal! We had the Italian sausage spaghetti with shaved truffles, fried baby artichoke hearts with ricotta cheese, Paradiso Soda ( gin and Passion flower), Cranky Chef ( peppercorn and rosemary infused old fashioned). The server asked if we were there for a special occasion and I mentioned we were celebrating my daughter's successful first semester in nursing school and she brought out complimentary glasses of their sparkling Rose ( after asking our preference!) What a thoughtful and pleasant surprise! Finally, we sat next to this fun and engaging couple and I was saying how much I loved the restaurant and telling them how much I loved the vibe only to find out they were the owners! They explained the thought behind the concept and talked about their other restaurants in the same complex, which we can't wait to try: The Botanist ( drinks and small bites), the Coffeeshop ( breakfast and coffee) and an outdoor bar.
