Not the fault of the restaurant, but I am posting this because the City places more importance on coddling the homeless than it does on the businesses who pay the taxes and employ the residents. We walked up India street from the Courthouse. [[HIGHLIGHT]]At various places along the way, we detected the smell of urine.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]We went in to the Parkakeet and sat down at a table. It was a beautiful day and they had the front doors open. We smelled urine after we sat down[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It would be disgusting to us to eat food and smell Urine at the same time.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So we drove to Mira Mesa for our lunch. Don't think we will be back to that area soon. Wave goodbye to the taxes that we would have paid. How this is permitted and tolerated by the Mayor and the City Council is beyond my understanding. Such a great location! It's much bigger than it looks from the outside. There is plenty of cute seating inside and a good amount of seating outside as well to view little Italy. Really easy to order at the counter and either wait for your order to-go or wait for your order to be delivered to your table. No matter how busy they are, they always seem to be on top of it and are quick too! We ordered one almond and one chocolate croissant as they looked so delicious while we were in a short line to order. We also ordered the cold vanilla foam cold brew and iced matcha latte. We loved both of the croissants as they were so large and flaky! The chocolate one had a half melted chocolate bar at the bottom which was a bit different but still good. I enjoyed the almond croissant more, although I am biased since almond croissants are my favorite. It was a bit drier compared to others I love as there wasn't a filling. Still good though! I loved my matcha latte! It wasn't too sweet, but a perfect balance between matcha and sweet milk. My husband had the cold vanilla foam cold brew. We both loved it. It was SO good and worth the order. Not too sweet at all, just the perfect hint of sweetness, where you could still enjoy the cold brew itself. Overall would be happy to come back and try all of their other countless options. Everything they made looked delicious! read more

I gave this place three stars mainly for the kind latino gentleman and the overpriced coffee. It was my first time visiting this coffee shop, I entered the shop trying to figure out which side you place your order. Thank goodness, not even one of the staff made eye contact or showed interest in helping. Finally I "interrupted" the barista and asked whether I am on the right side to place orders. I ordered chicken pesto sandwich with a cold brew topped with vanilla cold foam and a side of salad. Salad was far too over seasoned with few drops of lemon juice and drenched in olive oil! And sandwich, who would fry the chicken pesto sandwich bun?! It was soaked in oil. And this was while the chicken pesto sandwich was a cold smashed over seasoned chicken with pesto and some cheese. Even the tomato on top was fried. All and all, food was just disappointing, but the over priced coffee tasted good and was served in a cute disposable cup. I don't see myself returning to this place but IF I ever do, it will be just for the coffee! read more

Came for breakfast in the middle of the week. We ordered avocado toast and shashuka eggs. Coffee wasn't hot and had to ask them to warm it up and the breakfast dishes were just okay. The other thing is that neither of our dishes were really hot when they came out. Also, a bit pricey for what we actually got. This is a walk up to the counter to order and pay place. Although they were nice, and one of the few places open early for breakfast in Little Italy (if you're not going to Morning Glory), all in all I would not recommend for breakfast. read more

This is supposed to be the crispy grains and salmon bowl, that I ordered on DoorDash, there was hardly any salmon in there, and what bit of salmon they gave me, they shredded it beyond oblivion. There was very little sauce, and the overwhelming majority of the crunch came from salty smashed up tortilla chips. This was pretty infuriating from the time I opened the bag, and this was a waste of my Lunch period and money. It was like a punishment for trying to eat healthy. read more

After the march, I decided that I earned a matcha and Parakeet cafe was near by. It's definitely in the heart of Little Italy and for being a Saturday during the Farmers Market it wasn't at all packed. I ordered my matcha at the register and asked for it to be a little sweetened, my matcha was $7.50. Thankfully my friend found us a table by the window and it after some time my order was called, one thing I can say is that the seating is a little tight, table are too close to one another and we even witnessed someone walking by too closely and knocking the other patrons drinks and food. My matcha was fine, but it wasn't sweetened like I requested, I ended up having to get a packet of sugar but after that it was just like I liked it. The likelihood of coming back is pretty slim, I only came for matcha out of desperation and there was nothing else that really enticed me to want to come back. read more

Honestly, it was a yummy decision -- good food, relatively quick line, quick service, and cute atmosphere! We ordered the Surfer Burrito and a Flat White with Vanilla. The Flat White was actually really good, and it had the honor of being my first flat white coffee ever haha. The Surfer Burrito was really good, but it was a bit spicy! I was really happy with my brunch at this Parakeet Cafe. We went during the nearby farmers market and another simultaneous event, so needless to say it was busy, but we still managed to get through the line pretty quickly to order our food and find a comfortable seat on ten patio with our dogs. The food also came out quickly and everything was really delicious and refreshing. The potatoes were perfectly cooked and flavorful. I loved the breakfast burrito, especially the pieces of broccoli inside the burrito. It was a really good burrito and didn't feel heavy at all after eating it. The only downside was trying to get a refill on my coffee since there wasn't regular table service and I didn't want to stand in the long line again just for a refill of the small cup of coffee. read more
