Jeff has failed to respond to any calls, emails, and is never present in person when attempts are made to contact him at his office. He has not provided any cost estimate, nor any estimated time of completion. He has held my cousin's truck hostage for two months and is completely unreachable. This is incredibly unprofessional, inappropriate, and jeopardizes people's livelihoods who require transportation for their jobs. DO NOT USE THIS BUSINESS. You won't see your car for months. We have been a long time customer of Jeff at Paramount Motorworks. They are simply the best mechanic shop in the area. However I'm saddened to leave this review. We brought our Subaru Forester in the shop in December (yes December 2021) and we have not heard from anyone at the shop since late January. An estimate was never given, and as far as we know, repairs haven't been made. The shop appears closed now, with our car in it. We have sent many emails and called many times over the past 2 months, and visited the shop multiple times during working hours, but it has been closed every time. All we can think is that something terrible must have happened, and for that we are sorry. We've made every effort and have been patient. But we still need our car. We don't know where to turn for help. The El Dorado County Sheriff says this is a civil matter. The Bureau of Automotive repair says that since nothing has been repaired (that we know of) then we don't really have a complaint. Our only option is to hire an attorney, and sue the business for breach of contract and for the return of our car, and as you can imagine, this is expensive. If anyone reads this and can help us get our car back, please let us know. We can actually see our car parked in the back of the shop, behind the locked gates. read more

I can't believe I've never reviewed this place before! This is he only place I take my vehicles. I'm not completely in the dark with car repair places but I like to act dumb when I bring my car in so I can judge the honesty of the mechanic. Jeff has never led me astray or recommended service that was unnecessary. His work is quick and excellent and I generally come out paying less than I do other places. It can be a bit tough to reach him by phone since he's normally in back under the hood of a car, but you can always leave a message and he will call back. I found Paramount on Yelp, and it only had a few reviews but they were all good, so I decided to give it a try. It is too bad Yelp does not offer more stars because Jeff would clearly deserve and receive the best rating possible above what is great for everyone else. It is virtually impossible to find honest mechanics in the auto industry. I have been continually overcharged and over serviced by dealerships and mechanics that are looking to take you for a ride. Clearly Jeff's purpose is to provide good, fair priced service and have you for a customer for life. Which he will with our family and friends. My truck was running rough, and I called to see if he could take it that day. He promptly called back and left a message that he was booked on that day, but could look at it the next day. I took the truck to his shop. It does not look like a typical auto shop from the outside, but Google will get you there. His waiting area is SUPER CLEAN and quiet. He promptly greeted me when I arrived, even though he was in the back working, and listened to the symptoms I described. He seemed to know immediately what the problem was and said he would check it out. He took my keys and did not ask me to fill anything out. I really liked that. He had my phone number from my originating phone call, so he knew how to reach me. The next day there was a message on my phone, that the problem was as expected and that he already fixed it and gave me, what I thought was a very fair price for the repair. I went today to pick up the truck, and he again promptly came out and greeted me. We had a nice conversation about cars, service, the area, etc. I was not in an hurry and he did not rush me at all. He took his time to explain the issue and that it could happen again with other parts on my truck, but that we did not need to replace those other parts until they started to break. Other places I am sure would have taken the opportunity to replace all 8 parts on my truck instead of one. He brought my truck around, and too my shock, he had washed the truck. It looked better than any washing I had ever done, and he treated the tires as well. IT LOOKED GREAT!!! Now that is what I call service. I can't recommend him enough. He is honest and a gentleman. I was out of town helping my best friend move last summer (2018) when my car developed a big black plume of smoke coming out of the exhaust when I had my oil changed. My best friend only takes her vehicles to Jeff and I was so fortunate to have him get my car back in working order, and for a lot less than I had been afraid it would end up costing. He is honest and told me what needed to be done immediately and what I needed to address later. Wow, very impressive, professional and reasonably priced! Took the Mercedes in for the A3 service - upon arrive I immediately noticed the clean front office, and the front office didn't smell like motor oil like some many other independent repair facilities. The repair bill was considerably less than what I have paid in the past at the dealer and Jeff the owner gave me plenty of information on future service, items I need to consider to work on before the season changes, etc. When I went to get in my car I immediately noticed my already clean vehicle had been given another wash, vacuum and clean windows!! Took my '02 Silverado in. Leaking oil like crazy, 150K miles, I thought for sure I needed to R/R the head gaskets. I called Firestone in El Dorado Hills, and they quoted me upwards of 2,000 dollars (I had taken it in for an alignment and they told me I needed a new tensioner and idler pulley for a belt squeak that wouldn't go away, and that the oil leak was likely the head gasket) I did the pulley and tensioner myself (60 bucks) and low and behold, the squeak remained! I took the truck to Jeff on a recommendation, who did a diagnostic for NO CHARGE when I made an appointment for the next day. He found that my leaks were not the head gaskets, they were coming from the valley pan and the oil pan. The squeaking belt? My water pump was leaking coolant on to my belt. So much for the tensioner being bad (Firestone hires newbs). In addition to the gaskets for the pans and the water pump replacement, he flushed my differential fluid, resealed that, changed out a knock sensor, and replaced about 4 light bulbs. How much? 1,300 bucks! This was under half what it would have cost me for the same repairs at Firestone, and about 60% less than at the dealership! My truck was returned clean inside and out. I would recommend Jeff to anybody I know for engine repair. read more

I recently had service/repairs performed on my 96 Thunderbird. The vehicle had been sitting for about 3 years. The service/repairs were fairly extensive, yet far below dealer pricing, and still performed by a factory trained certified master technician. The results were phenomonal. WHAT?! Another 5 star review?! Yep, these guys deserve it. Jason and Jeff took my car in when no one else would. I usually do my own work, and would never take my car to an auto repair shop. But this time, I had issues that I could not tackle myself, due to the lack of proper tools. The car had a lean code and large leak in the rear end. I searched for days, for someone who would diagnose and fix the problems I had with my newly purchased supercharged Mustang. I called numerous shops within the Sacramento area, but no one wanted to touch my car, because of all the aftermarket parts on it. Finally, a reputable dyno tune shop in Cameron Park recommended me to Paramount. When I called Jeff, he listened to my list of issues and promptly welcomed my car to his shop. Jeff had my car for some time, but called me frequently to keep me current on the status of his work. His diagnosis and repairs being done on the Mustang were spot on. I was confident he was doing work that needed to be done. When I came to pick up my car, it was sitting out front, with a sparkling shine. They washed the car! I got to talk to Jeff, in person, about the repairs done and he showed me the old defective parts. He charged me VERY reasonably and I could not be happier. My car drives great now and feels so alive. I would also like to mention something that I noticed later, in my garage: I said earlier, that the rear end had a major leak. When it leaked, gear oil splashed all over the underside of my car. It was disgusting. I went under my car, this weekend, to look at the work Jeff and his team did on my car and my jaw dropped!!! The whole undercarriage was CLEAN! They washed all of that stinking, nasty gear oil off. My mind is blown. I have never come across a shop so dedicated to their customer. These guys are absolutely great. I needed to get the fuel pump and filter replaced on my Saturn, and they did it quickly and fairly. I had originally taken my car to a different location in Folsom, but after an astronomical quote and on a recommendation from a friend, had my car towed to Paramount. I was recommended to come to this place from a co-worker recently. He had both his cars worked on here and much like everyone else on here he had glowing reviews. I have been looking for a place to take my car to for a while and this place happens to be a 3 minute walk from where I work. So between the distance and my co workers recommendations I thought I finally found my new mechanic. Well I was wrong. I have called this place over 8 times and left at lest 4 voicemails over the past week (since Monday and it is Thursday). Finally I decided to go in since it's right across the street. So I walk in and there is no one there to greet me but the door to the garage is open so I knock and finally someone comes over only to tell me the owner can only give quotes and he wasn't in. So the guy writes down my info and says the owner will call me later that day or the next. Well I never heard from the owner so finally I called again. Of course no answer. So I decided to go in again. This time the door to the garage is closed. I yelled hello multiple times, I knocked on the door, and I rang the bell they have on the outside of their building TWICE. And no one ever came out. It's safe to say they just lost a potential regular customer due to their horrible customer service. The least you can do is answer your phones, if not, at least call people back or why even have a voicemail machine? read more

Wow, this was a GREAT experience! It started with my company's Sprinter van needing a smog. We knew that it might have a problem - so a friend recommended Jeff Peters, owner of Paramount Motorworks to us. We had taken the van previously to the dealer, and while their customer service was nice - we wouldn't go back because they treated us like a number and did not run the diagnostics that Jeff took the time to do. Jeff figured out that our glow plugs weren't working and recommended that we change those before we spend money fixing what the dealer had thought was wrong. "We know the plugs are a problem, so let's start there!" he wisely advised. Well, what do you know? That was the source of the black smoke and no power! Jeff took care of a couple of other items, took it to a shop and got it smogged, put more gas in it, and he washed it for us too! Jeff impressed me. He was professional, knowledgeable and when he had a question about our van and didn't know the answer - he admitted he didn't know but then FOUND the answer! We were able to drop off the van on Saturday and could have picked it up on Wednesday. The price was reasonable, but more important, we feel like we have found an intelligent, conscientious, craftsman that had our best interests at heart. I don't think we could have found better service or peace of mind anywhere else. We will recommend Paramount Motorworks to all of our friends and if you are wondering about finding that guy you can trust to work on your car - look no further as Jeff Peters is your man! read more

Took my son's Honda Civic in for a new head gasket which was causing an overheating issue. Jeff was very professional, friendly, and he had the lowest estimate of 4 shops that I called. He verified the issue the first day, had the cylinder head machined the next day, and got everything back together the 3rd day. One of the other shops quoted me up to 2 weeks depending on the machine shop backlog. Couldn't be happier with Paramount. Tough to find a mechanic that's fast, professional, and reasonably priced.
