I carefully reviewed the yelp posts before deciding to contact this business. As a first time potential customer, I called. I was honest with my needs and where I was coming from. Stating we had never used their services, but had heard good things. Nancy answered, I gave all info needed. I thought I would receive a simple run down of their procedures and a possible basic estimate of review cost, as well as availability....as I requested. I explained, I have a home mechanic (yes, my talented husband ). I have the OEM with a code and loose diagnosis of the EVAP purge flow on my Toyota. I explained exactly what I was looking for. She responded with repetitive questions "so DO you want a diagnosis" she was curt and not kind in her customer service demeanor. I asked if that's where they needed to start or could they work with the info we provided from the data in our cars computer. I have worked customer service and relations for most of my life, and I would never respond to a potential new customer in this rude fashion. Her inability to communicate is a problem. Considering unprofessional air about her, deducing me to hear nothing but attitude. I was not receiving an actual estimate to have them review my car with my information intact. I know what symptoms and what the possible diagnosis would be. When she said, "So you just want me to do what you tell me to do." I knew she was unprincipled, I was receiving immature & inexperienced service. *Please note I NEVER leave bad reviews. But the bad taste of my experience of just calling in was lasting in my mouth. I even courteously apologized saying I must not have communicated properly, which I now regret making such a statement. She attempted to condescend by stating SHE must have misunderstood me. My suggestion is the next person calling in asking these simple requests. I would simply state what you DO offer Nancy. Verbal run around isn't a good look for a business. I consulted two other local, well known businesses, those mechanics told me they do NOT recommend The Toy Shop services. One told me specifically "I don't have time for non sense." Only after naming the business I had just called. They are so kind and warm-hearted, I always end up just hanging out and talking to them until my car is ready. Also have had some more intense work done on our cars (spark plugs, front differential on my Tacoma, etc.) and no issues. They are always honest and show you the prices of the parts and break down the labor and hours. I also love that Greg or Nancy will be sure to show you if a problem has popped up, like the need for a filter change. No charges unless you give the green light. We dropped off a 2003 Toyota 4Runner Limited V8 for repairs and received an estimate for approxImately $1075 for mainly suspension repairs and A/C & rear window regulator/motor check. The vehicle was returned with the tailgate interior panel removed, the rear door would not open, and a $1900 bill. When pressed to get the tailgate door to work, we were told to bring it back the next day because they were unable to diagnose why the door would not open even though the door worked fine upon delivery. We decided to forego returning the vehicle and popping out the fuse and re-inserting it resolved the issue. Overall, we were very disappointed with both the price, quality, and poor customer service (i.e. they broke the rear door mechanism then told us they were too busy to repair it until the next day). Even more frustrating was the bill almost doubled in price over the estimate and the work wasn't even completed- the rear door was inop. read more

The Toy Shop is my GO TO place for my vehicles. They are honest, fair priced, and they do a great job explaining the situation including (on many occasions for me) showing me exactly what was going on. The new owners are carrying the torch created by the original family who started and ran the business for so long! I called them today because I noticed (after getting home) that I had a possible fan clutch going bad on my Sequoia. While talking to me about ways to figure out if it was the fan clutch, Greg was able to look up my customer information (without me telling him who I was) and was able to have the part ordered for pick up TODAY. Their level of service to their customers is 100%! He was even able to get me the OEM part cheaper than what the dealers (yes plural) quoted me. Toy Shop Rocks! My daughter took her older Toyota corolla into the shop for an oil leak. They diagnosed a leaking valve cover gasket. Had it replaced plus spark plugs. When car was returned it developed a worse oil leak within couple of days. You could watch the oil dripping onto The road from the engine area. Took back for $1500 more of repairs. Picked car up on New years eve. Checked oil next day. ITS TWO QUARTS OIL OVER FILLED. I would not recommend this shop to anyone read more

This shop is THE BEST! They have always been honest, fairly priced and have kept our high mileage Prius in order for years. We recently moved (way) out of the area and had to see a Toyota dealership after a check engine light came on. The dealership service department told us that we needed a whole new engine and that the car was essentially totaled. I was devastated. The mechanic there even offered to buy the car off of us which seemed fishy... so of course we called The Toy Shop to get their take on it. Nancy and Greg talked us through the whole process and we did end up bringing the car back to town to have them do the repair. After Greg's thorough diagnostic he called to let us know it needed a new O2 sensor, which also wasn't cheap but was reasonable. It is worth noting that he had the job done within 24 hours of drop off!! I can't help but feel like the other shop was either inexperienced or crooked... We love and trust this shop (especially Nancy and Greg) and will continue to come here for all our car maintenance. read more

I took my MR2 in to get an engine swap. This shop was able to get the swap done along with going the extra mile by letting me know that they also cleaned the gas tank to remove the rust from years of sitting in a garage. Im happy to have my almost 30 year old vehicle back and the road and driving. Any small issues I have had since has been handled by this shop in a timely matter. Friends of my son recommended we check this place out. We bought my son a 1997 4runner, it has 260k miles, but the engine looked fine. That is until we brought it to the Toyota dealership. We were actually at Toyota to get new tires, but out of the kindness of their hearts, they did a multi point inspection. After going through issues with them, it was truly amazed that we could even drive the car off the lot! Seriously, I think the estimate of the cost to repair the leaks was over $8k! The real question was, what parts weren't leaking. Regardless, we brought it to the Toy Shop based on my son's friends recommendation and they are suggesting a series of gaskets that will cost us about $350! I know the car is old, and perhaps there will need to be additional gaskets that need to be replaced, but to make an outrageous assertion that fluids were basically leaking from anywhere they could be leaking, seemed a little over the top. I vast majority of the other reviews are true. Very friendly and honest group. I was so impressed, that I brought my 2012 Honda to repair an issue I have been dealing with all winter. They were quick and the price was considerably less than the quote I got a Honda, which is what is exactly what I was hoping for. read more

Our Toyota Camry developed a very unique electronic and wiring issue due to some pesky rodents. The Toy Shop worked tirelessly and meticulously to resolve the issue on their end. There were some issues on the part ordering side, but that was out of their control. Greg kept us in the loop throughout the process and explained the logic behind each step they took. We appreciate how quickly he corresponded with our insurance, and the time his Dad put into pinning out and fixing the wiring issue. Unfortunately I just had one of the worst customer experiences I've had in a long time. Had our 2003 4Runner towed in late December to diagnose emerging oil and smoke. Engine failure was the cause (290k miles) and we chose to have the Toy Shop do a used engine replacement. 3+ months later they said it was ready. We picked it up and it had a broken shifter... a shifter that was not broken when we brought it in. I realized it was broken within 2 miles of the shop. The Toy Shop folks said they put 60 miles on the car but acknowledged that they never shifted past Drive... and although rougher to shift to Drive, it was dysfunctional shifting to 4th and 3rd... and would not shift to 2nd or 1st. They indicated that either I broke the shifter or brought it in broken... so I owed another $351 for its repair after our original $6,899 engine bill. I felt this was unfair and they would not consider that this actually happened under their control... and the receptionist piled on by yelling that they drove it 60 miles... as if that was the evidence that it was working before I got in the car. We both felt the other party was responsible... we should have been able to have a conversation about shared responsibility. Instead, I was effectively told that I was a liar and needed to pay up and leave. Now I really know what they think of this customer... why would I ever go back. read more
