Desk service, Nancy from Toy Shop in Shingle Springs CA
    Darcy H.

I carefully reviewed the yelp posts before deciding to contact this business. As a first time potential customer, I called. I was honest with my needs and where I was coming from. Stating we had never used their services, but had heard good things. Nancy answered, I gave all info needed. I thought I would receive a simple run down of their procedures and a possible basic estimate of review cost, as well as availability....as I requested. I explained, I have a home mechanic (yes, my talented husband ). I have the OEM with a code and loose diagnosis of the EVAP purge flow on my Toyota. I explained exactly what I was looking for. She responded with repetitive questions "so DO you want a diagnosis" she was curt and not kind in her customer service demeanor. I asked if that's where they needed to start or could they work with the info we provided from the data in our cars computer. I have worked customer service and relations for most of my life, and I would never respond to a potential new customer in this rude fashion. Her inability to communicate is a problem. Considering unprofessional air about her, deducing me to hear nothing but attitude. I was not receiving an actual estimate to have them review my car with my information intact. I know what symptoms and what the possible diagnosis would be. When she said, "So you just want me to do what you tell me to do." I knew she was unprincipled, I was receiving immature & inexperienced service. *Please note I NEVER leave bad reviews. But the bad taste of my experience of just calling in was lasting in my mouth. I even courteously apologized saying I must not have communicated properly, which I now regret making such a statement. She attempted to condescend by stating SHE must have misunderstood me. My suggestion is the next person calling in asking these simple requests. I would simply state what you DO offer Nancy. Verbal run around isn't a good look for a business. I consulted two other local, well known businesses, those mechanics told me they do NOT recommend The Toy Shop services. One told me specifically "I don't have time for non sense." Only after naming the business I had just called. Do yourself - favor and just go to who others DO recommend: Toy Tech in Placerville for experienced and professional work from a behind the desk personnel.

Mechanic is rebuilding the front birfield/knuckle joints.

They get your car right in to get started working on it. They are very honest and never try to take advantage of you. Highly recommend them.

Hi Sharie, yes we do head gasket repairs on Prius here. Price can very a little bit but typically you are looking at $3600-$3800 for the full repair. Turn around time is usually about a week. If you have any other questions please let us know. Thank…

We were fortunate enough to go out of town for a couple days while the work was being done, it was waiting for us on Monday. The upper radiator hose turned out to be the cause. TrueCare replaced it, alleviating our worries for 2 trips to SoCal and one to Reno(from the Sierra foothills). Then a short trip to our local grocery store turned out to be disastrous. When starting the car for the trip back home, it warned to "Check Coolant Level". By the time the car reached our neighborhood, the Temperature indicator had climbed to the red zone, and the warning changed to flashing red "Turn Off Engine!" When it cooled, I checked under the hood to learn that the previously replaced upper radiator hose had come completely off the radiator connector. I contacted Dave, and made arrangements to have it towed to TrueCare. I informed Dave about the hose, and he ordered a replacement. The hose that had been installed had failed, and was defective. This wasn't an aftermarket part, but an OEM from Mercedes. The good news in all of this, is that Dave stands behind all his work with a 2 year warranty. The replacement was done for NO CHARGE!! The lesson here, is that any part can fail, even a new OEM from Mercedes. When a business stands behind their work with this kind of service, it speaks volumes about their integrity. There's good reason why most every review gives Dave's TrueCare 5 star reviews. They've earned it, along with the trust and confidence his customers give him. Thank you, Dave, for always providing the best and most reliable service we know we'll receive when we trust you with the care of our vehicles!!

Nearly every time I make a visit to 4Play, I not only see 4WDs in the queue but also a variety of classics, including hot rods (50s Chevy's, 60s Mustangs, etc.). For nearly a decade, Chuck took great care of my '66 Mustang Fastback; now, he's babying my '89 Jeep Grand Wagoneer, and I wouldn't take that classic vehicle anywhere else. About Chuck: he's an analytical guy (not at all unlike many of the software engineers that I work with in my high-tech job) who wants to understand the root of the problem - and not just what the problem is (vs. "symptoms") but also how it came to be a problem at all. He's really fantastic, and the only reason I haven't taken all of my vehicles to Chuck is due to the complexity with diagnosing issues with my later-model Volvos. It's just not feasible for Chuck pay for Volvo's software subscription when he rarely works on Volvo vehicles. Great guy, honest guy, gets to the root of the problem *and* what's causing the problem. 100% would refer him to others.
