I added about a quart of water to…read morecontinue its use, but scheduled an appointment with TrueCare to diagnose the underlying cause of coolant loss. The upper radiator hose turned out to be the cause. TrueCare replaced it, alleviating our worries for 2 trips to SoCal and one to Reno(from the Sierra foothills). Then a short trip to our local grocery store turned out to be disastrous. When starting the car for the trip back home, it warned to "Check Coolant Level". By the time the car reached our neighborhood, the Temperature indicator had climbed to the red zone, and the warning changed to flashing red "Turn Off Engine!" When it cooled, I checked under the hood to learn that the previously replaced upper radiator hose had come completely off the radiator connector. I contacted Dave, and made arrangements to have it towed to TrueCare. I informed Dave about the hose, and he ordered a replacement. The hose that had been installed had failed, and was defective. This wasn't an aftermarket part, but an OEM from Mercedes. The good news in all of this, is that Dave stands behind all his work with a 2 year warranty. The replacement was done for NO CHARGE!! The lesson here, is that any part can fail, even a new OEM from Mercedes. When a business stands behind their work with this kind of service, it speaks volumes about their integrity. There's good reason why most every review gives Dave's TrueCare 5 star reviews. They've earned it, along with the trust and confidence his customers give him. Thank you, Dave, for always providing the best and most reliable service we know we'll receive when we trust you with the care of our vehicles!!

On Sunday, my 18-year-old Lhasa went to bed and then woke up at midnight with a tummy ache. By Tuesday morning, Otis was gone. Otis died of acute kidney failure at Goldorado Animal Hospital. He had just received a clean bill of health at Airport Pet Clinic in late March. I felt totally blind-sided. On Wednesday, I took Otis to Caring Pet Crematory in Sacramento. Both the hospital and this place were very kind, which meant a lot because I am new to the area. On Thursday, my car wouldn't start. The battery was fried. John was out of town on a work trip so I asked my neighbor for a jump start so I could get to O'Reilly's for a battery. I was shocked how expensive batteries were post-pandemic. Then I was given a list of mechanics to call to install it. I didn't know if they would do it or how much they would charge. Fortunately, Cameron Park Auto was first on my list. At first Debbie couldn't help me so I just went into auto pilot mode. You know, don't take it personally, don't burst into tears, just say thank you, hang up and go down the list. I was leaving a voicemail with another mechanic when Debbie called me back. Debbie said she talked with the mechanic and they found a way to help me. Later, Debbie told me she sensed something was wrong and knew I needed help. I bought the battery at O'Reilly's but before I could drive over to CPA, my car wouldn't start. O'Reilly's has jumper cables so I told Debbie I'll be over as soon as my car started. Debbie said, "Hold on." Next thing I know, Josh brought out a better battery and John installed it at O'Reilly's. I couldn't believe it! I don't know what Debbie said but it was so nice to feel like when your world is coming undone that there are nice people out there who care. After I got my car running, I drove over to CPA and thanked Debbie in person. I wanted her to know I REALLY appreciated her kindness. So, if you're looking for stellar humans - like Debbie, Josh, & John - they are out there! Thank you again!

I have close friends with automotive mechanic shops that I have taken my vehicles to that was a little further distance away out of friendship and loyalty and even recommended them to family, friends and acquaintances however Automotive Services Unlimited has been the very best business I have trusted with my vehicles repairs with and they are more convenient because they are close to where I live. We call it VADER because looking at it from the front looks like Darth Vader's helmet. We love this car. It was recently at the dealership for a new thermostat. While there, the techs discovered that we had a small nail in the right rear Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tire, and they offered to sell us a new tire for $450. I was visiting Big O to get a new set of tire pressure sensors in my new to me 2017 Ford Focus Rallye Sport, and I mentioned the situation to Noah. He looked it up and informed me that the tires, which I bought from him, were still under warranty, and that Big O would either repair or replace the tire for free. I called Noah at 1:30 on a Saturday afternoon to see about making an appointment. His response was that I could come down to the shop and he would handle it right now. No appointment, Saturday afternoon, and he made it happen. The job was done in just a few minutes. This is an excellent shop with top flight technicians who know what they're doing, and they are car lovers. Noah is the man. You can trust him with all your auto service needs. Two thumbs up!

I booked my appointment and showed up on time for a simple oil change in my work truck. Estimated time was about 3 hours. Yes, they offer rides but I didn't think it'd take so long anyway, so I just waited in their offering-less sitting area. Got the work done along with a number of glorified recommendations for work needed on the truck- and estimated $2,000 for simple things like break fluid, engine coolant, etc. About 6 weeks after I noticed that the truck started leaking a lot of oil, so I had to call a friend who does basic maintenance on his own cars to help me loot at what the problem was. WelI, we are not mechanics to describe with the proper terms (more than anything, I don't want to be corrected by the business owner and then use that to basically say that I have no idea of what I am talking about), but the filter was not put on right. He had to change the filter, replenish the oil, and that was the end of it. Well, besides the clean up on the floor and undercarriage that I have to still take care of courtesy of shannon's. Could I have taken it back to have it looked at? Yes. Do I have the time and patience to deal with this? No. I wanted to support local business but they are no better than the dealership, your friend mechanic, or any other large company looking at their bottom line.
