Finally got to try PARAN and I was equally full as I was happy! Their cocktails were all delicious and the highlights for me were the spicy cod roe creamy udon and Galbi. Everything we got was delicious, but those were the standout dishes for me personally! Highly recommend and make sure to make a reservation if coming on the weekends because it's a pretty small space.

On my trip to Seattle, I knew I wanted to try the new trendy Korean spot that opened in my favorite neighborhood, Fremont. I'm glad I came because it was a very pleasant experience. Right in the heart of Fremont, in view of the river, Paran was a super cute spot. It felt like a very classic Korean restaurant with modern touches all around. To start off, we got the mandoo and I got a matcha spritz. The mandoo was cooked well and the filling was really good. I absolutely loved the drink I got. It was light and sweet and got me tipsy so of course I had to get another. As for the main dishes, we got the kalbi, beef tartare, tteokbokki, and several others. Overall they were really good as each was unique in its own way. Like the kalbi with the sauce on the side was a welcomed touch. The only criticism is that sometimes the service was slow but if the food is good, I'm not gonna complain. I can totally see this as a date spot.

Came here for date night and everything was amazing. The beef tartare is a must get. It was very fresh and had a subtle sweetness, you can't really tell it's raw beef. The seaweed Pollock roe noodle dish is also a must get, the umami on this dish and with the salted roe just creates an explosion of flavors. We also got the galbi and rose jjim dak which were good portions for sharing. I will definitely come back to try their other dishes.

I heard Paran was a good Korean spot through a friend, and I'm glad I finally checked it out. The Paran Gal-bi was my favorite. The meat was really tender and flavorful, with a slight sweetness that I actually really liked. The salad and grilled tomatoes helped balance everything out and added some freshness to the dish. The seaweed pollock roe was also really good. It was creamy without being too heavy, and the salty roe worked really well with the mild cream sauce. The seaweed added a subtle nuttiness that tied everything together. The restaurant has a warm and cozy atmosphere, and service was quick and efficient.

Came with some friends on a Friday evening. We were communicated that our table was almost ready, they have to clean it, then about 10 mins into waiting we were communicated that again by a different staff member. Seems like communication between staff can be improved on during rushes. We ordered seaweed pollock roe noodles, Paran Gal-bi, and beef tartare. To our surprise, the noodles were spicy when the description on the menu did not state spicy. I loved that the noodles came with a ton of green onions on top, and not overly saucy or wet. The Galbi was tender and flavorful and cut up into bite size pieces. The Galbi came with grilled mushrooms, tomatoes, and a salad on the hot plate. I would suggest the salad to come separately as it got soggy and warm very quickly on the hot plate, as well as oily due to the meat. The tartare was good, though the proportion of the cracker to the tartare was not great - more cracker is needed. The tartare also came with a sauce on the side, which again I would say more sauce is needed for the size of the dish. We were going to get cocktails but were uninterested after seeing that the menu doesn't have any description of what exactly is in each drink. One thing Paran can improve upon on the menu is adding more details so that customers know exactly what they are ordering. Overall, food was flavorful and came out pretty fast. I would come back again and try their other dishes.

I came here for a date night. The restaurant is intimate and I really liked the design choices they took with the space. The staff were friendly and regularly checked up on us throughout the meal. As for when it comes to food, the portions are quite large and would definitely keep that in mind while you're ordering! Most things are meant to share between 2-3 people. For two people I think just a protein and noodle dish is perfect to share. The appetizers were just fine, I think I'd be okay with not getting any next time. I really enjoyed the mains though and they are truly perfect for sharing! The Galbi was tender and flavorful. I also love any creamy udon so enjoyed that dish (there is a good kick of spice to it). My only suggestion was that our food all came out at the same time and our table was quite small. I wish they had staggered our food coming out a little. This place is fairly new and I think it has great potential. I would definitely want to try this place again and think it would be great place for an after work happy hour or more casual hangout.

Solid galbi and very soft and flavorful! It came with lettuce, tomato and mushroom but wish it had some kind of kimchi. The perilla oil udon was refreshing and noodles were bouncy and not overcooked. Service was good, definitely gets busy so try to make a reservation. Very cute inside and very modern korean fusion restaurant.

Fremont's been getting a lot of traction from foodies lately, and it's going for both old and new places! This slightly newer place is within a very busy intersection on Fremont, not far from the newer Moment Cafe and a slight ways away from the Fremont Troll where I snagged parking like all my other visits to Fremont on a Friday at 5:30pm. It's bright and sunny for this visit, so a ton of natural light shines inside at the front tables and at the waiting area while all other tables for groups of 2-4 are deeper inside. The menu is offered both as physical copies and as a QR code situated near each table. From recommendations, the salmon pollack roe was the dish of choice for this visit. It was oddly spicy; tons of spice flakes were sprinkled on top of the green onions that made up an even bigger portion of the top condiments. I almost thought the seaweed cream sauce was spicy for a second there! Mixing everything together really change things though; salmon roe gave a rich and buttery kind of taste, which complemented the cream sauce. Shrimp was few in number but added more to the seafood-y taste this dish has. I just wish the portion was bigger for the price. Pretty great food so far, and I'd come next time with more people to try their shareables. Keep in mind they add an 18% gratuity service charge on your bill regardless of the size of your party, so expect to pay more than what you see.

Outstanding, is the first word that comes to mind. I've already been back twice because I keep dreaming about the creamy udon noodles. If you try one thing from the menu I recommend the seaweed pollack roe - you get the seafood flavor of the seaweed & shrimp come through with the creaminess of the sauce, and it all comes together so well. The volcano gochujang noodles were great too. Their main dishes (we got the Galbi the 1st time and the Je-Yuk the 2nd time around) were flavorful and the salad had a nice touch of Yuzu flavor on it. We also ordered the M.B.P drink (mangoes, berries, & peach) and it was nicely done where it wasn't too sweet nor punchy with the alcohol. The service was kind and fast, the servers recognized us from our first visit! Ambiance is cozy and small, recommend coming near opening or close if you don't make a reservation. Will be back for the 4th time in the near future!

So happy to have found this great spot in the heart of Fremont! We walked over from Gas Works Park for a bite to eat and had a really nice experience. We ordered family-style so we could try a variety of dishes, including noodles, richly marinated beef, and some delicious dumplings. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and well-balanced. Portions are a bit on the smaller side for the price, but the quality and flavors really stand out. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the food came out quickly, which made the whole experience even better. The menu isn't huge, but it's clear there's a lot of thought behind each dish. The space is on the smaller side, so I'd recommend making a reservation ahead of time. I'd definitely come back to try more.

A nice new accessible Korean. Tried the popular items on the menu: beef tartar, Galbi and seaweed pollack roe. All were tasty, tartar was simple with a white dip sauce on the side ( and lots of pistachios on top), Galbi was sweet and soft with a dip sauce ( and seems like they forgot to add mushrooms and brought them after the meal. Pollack roe was tasty and flavorful a good combo of umami and seaweed ( maybe could have been a bit less salty and less seaweed forward). Overall a casual atmosphere inside ( inside looks like a narrow room) service was ok, overall kind staff, they were not very talkative but everything was delivered fast. Would come back to try other parts of the menu

The beef tartare was amazing, it came with a a crispy rice cake and was topped with pistachios. The fries were delicious, if you like fish cakes, would recommend getting this. The udon was chewy, creamy and just plain good. The Rose jjim-dak was the star of the show in my option. If you like rose dishes, I would highly reccomend, it's cheesy, slightly spicy and the chicken is tender. If you like fruity drinks I reccomend the MBP but all the other drinks were great too!

Girl I didn't even know they only had 15 servings of beef tartare.... Thank god I'm a hungry bi$&@ cuz I got there the second they opened. And the Beef tartare was bussin'- sesame oil forward and beautiful! Paran is cute little tight spot on a busy corner of Fremont. We went there on Fri and it deffo filled up pretty quick after we got seated. The cocktails were delish. The matcha one was earthy with just the right amount of zing. I got the pollack roe udon and my friend got the gochujang udon, and they are both creamy spicy flavorbombs. We stuffed ourselves silly and I would for sure comeback for nice casual evening dinner. I would just say get there early like right at 5 so you don't miss out on the beef tartare and get a table right away.

An absolute treat in all sense of the word!…read more We made reservations for an early dinner on Saturday, and glad we did because there was a never ending stream of people. By 6pm every seat was taken, including the bar. Highly recommend reservations. We had the cauliflower, squash blossom, squid ink fried rice, and the NY steak. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. The cauliflower was cooked perfectly and had a really lovely smokey-ness to it. The sesame and almond puree and mint oil was divine. Honestly I could have made a whole meal of the cauliflower. The shrimp in the squash blossom was a delightful burst of flavor and texture. The sauces, while quite strong on their own, did not overpower the squash blossom, and each bite could have different flavors based on the sauce combinations. The squid ink fried rice had good textured rice AND the nori seasoning was perfect. I didn't get a lot of kimchi flavor, but it was truly a perfect fried rice- a little salty, you could tell it was fried but not greasy or oily, and a good complement to the steak. The steak was cooked perfectly. Each bite was so tender, and every part was the same level of done. A perfect medium rare. I don't know what they did to the brussel sprouts, but it was one of the best brussel sprout dishes I've ever had. There was a sauce with the steak (maybe dwenjang based?) that added such a nice deep salty and savory touch to the steak. We left feeling quite full, and about $200 poorer. Overall highly recommend. The staff was friendly and informative, interior was cozy and inviting, and the food was 10 out of 10.

There is an open kitchen with, you guessed it, an open fire that is burning almond wood under the range. It is tantalizing. Before even tasting, my other senses are nourished. There are a few high top bar like seats scattered with smaller 2 and 4 tops. The restaurant is on the corner but doesn't feel too bright or too dark. Service: Elevated. Passionate. But not in a "trying too hard" way. They all seemed to care deeply about every beat. Recommendations felt curated and everyone had a calmness to them that was very refreshing. Food: Un. Real. Squash Blossoms - beautiful plating, better flavor. They were crunchy on the outside with a burst of perfectly cooked shrimp inside. The sauces complimented perfectly. Octopus - perfectly cooked. Perfectly. The presentation didn't even do the flavor justice. One tentacle but savored each bite. Ink fried rice - I've never had ink rice before but let me tell you each bite was a delicious textural experience. The portion was quite decent too. Truffle mushrooms - as a non-mushroom lover, I was sold on these because it's (5) types of mushrooms pan fried and topped with parm. Lost my mind. The mushrooms were so substantial and reminded me more of meat than of dirt. We would come back simply for this dish. Ribeye - the "crescendo" as our waiter put it. And he was right. We watched the chef cook this steak perfectly on the open fire in front of us. The level of care and passion left us tantalized. The calmness and cleanliness of the prep area. It was truly dinner and a relaxing show. I could not get over how the smoke that greeted us gently wove its way into each slice of mid rare ribeye. The dish is served with banchan of Kimchee, salad, Brussels, and broccoli so balanced and flavorful. I think I finally understand umami? Big day! Dessert - not photographed Lychee sorbet had me dreaming of the martini without missing the alcohol. Barley gelato - the flavor starts off with a strong coffee and transforms into an earthier and heartier barley that I've never had before in my life! The shaved ice - mind blown? One bite through to the bottom cream and then it was gone in my mouth. I'd like to refer to this as the magicians assistant because it's in front of you and then it's gone. Totally Cinnamon Toast Crunch but magical? We can't wait to come back. Huge thanks to Bill for making the experience so fantastic.

This time, I checked out Chan Seattle, and baby, they left NOTHING on the table. I enjoyed my entire experience from start to finish. When I arrived, there was a sign asking guests to wait for the hostess to be seated. I stood there for about 2-3 minutes, but no one ever came to the hostess stand, so eventually I just seated myself at the bar. ‍ Not a huge deal, but definitely worth noting. Chan is located inside a hotel, and the restaurant itself is pretty spacious. The actual bar only seats about three people, but there's also open-kitchen counter seating with maybe 8-10 seats. I grabbed a seat at the bar with my book, although I mainly ended up listening to a podcast while I ate. Perfect little solo dinner vibe. One thing that made me laugh: the restroom is part of the hotel, so Chan staff actually have to give you a key to access it. Top-flight security over there! Now, THE FOOD. I started with a glass of cava from the happy hour menu and the tuna tartare, topped with avocado, radish, and sunchoke. Both were $10 each. For my meal, I ordered the roasted cauliflower from the happy hour menu for $10 and the small portion of Alaskan black cod from the protein menu. Everything was absolutely delicious, but that tuna tartare?! That was the star of the evening. Fresh, flavorful, and easily the dish I'd order again without even looking at the menu. The service was wonderful too. The bartender seemed a little stiff and rigid when I first sat down, but he eventually warmed up and I got to see his kind and friendly side. He was attentive and offered recommendations, which I always appreciate when I'm trying somewhere for the first time. The regular menu prices are definitely on the higher side, but Chan has $$$ on Yelp, so you know what you're signing up for. That said, the happy hour specials are GREAT and make it easy to try several dishes without running the bill all the way up. Between the food, service, atmosphere, and happy hour, Chan Seattle is absolutely a must-try. I'll definitely be back on a future Seattle visit, and the tuna tartare already has a spot on my repeat-order list!

The restaurant is meticulously clean and elegant, which makes you just want to eat. In fact, the food was so wonderful that I hardly spoke a word between moaning and eating.
