Immediately greeted with a smile which isn't the norm at Asian restaurants. I had to try this spot out cause I heard there was a huge cult following at their Tacoma location. First off the portions are huge I could probably share 1 bowl of noodle with another person. My sister and mom got the banh hoi, my dad got a rice bowl and I got a noodle bowl. The charsui really stole the show for me. parking may be harder on a busier day but overall a great experience! A must try for duck lovers.

Rice combo with roasted pork, cha siu, and duck

In terms of food in the SLU area, it's a 4 star. But really it's closer to a 3 star if comparing food to its sister store in Tacoma (which in my opinion is a lot better). This does have more seating and more spacious/modern interior. Checking in was quite unorganized. Theres a list to put your name down but no one came by to check on it for 15 minutes. I got the rice combo with 3 types of meats. Portions seemed smaller than Tacoma location. Roasted pork was nice and crispy and not too salty. I was expecting duck slices and not the leg, which is my least favorite part and it was so extremely dry without much meat on it. If you buy the meat by the pound, I think the prices are pretty comparable or even cheaper than Chinatown which is nice. Hopefully the organization improves with time.

Came here after a workout and was pleasantly surprised. Seattle can be hit or miss when it comes to Vietnamese food, but this spot delivered I ordered the duck and rice plate. The duck was juicy, flavorful, and cooked really well without being overly seasoned. The mustard greens helped balance out the richness of the meat, and the soup on the side tied everything together nicely Service was great too. My water was refilled without having to ask, and the staff checked in regularly throughout the meal My only suggestion would be to add a few more vegetarian or vegan options to the menu. Other than that, I had a great experience and would definitely come back with friends

I am so happy they opened this Seattle outpost for the Tho Tuong BBQ! The South Lake Union location is definitely different than the orginial hard scrabble Lincoln International district location in Tacoma! The menu at Tho South Lake Union is a little smaller (no pig stomach or chicken feet) than the Tacoma location but the heavy rotation items are still there. Crispy pork belly, bbq pork (char siu) and roast duck are as delicious as i remember. I am always a bit indecisive so usually go for the combo meat (roast duck, crispy pork belly and bbq pork) with rice. All meat orders come with a sweet and savory dipping sauce which should not be skipped! Pickled veg is a nice contrast to the rich meats and the clear consume complimentary with each meal is so comforting. You can also super size your meal by adding extra meat for another $10. Staff is very friendly! I think locals are still sleeping on this place and most of their volume seems to be the lunch rush from all the Amazon employees. Get there before they run out of meats for the day!

So excited to finally have a Tho Tuong BBQ location in Seattle! The crispy pork belly (heo quay) has the perfect crunch, and the char siu is incredibly tender and flavorful. The space is modern and clean. Great portions, fast service, and a much-needed addition to South Lake Union. I'll definitely be a regular here

NOTE: this review is for their soft opening as of 5/23/26, so current experience here may not reflect an accurate one after their grand opening on 6/1/26. This Viet BBQ place first opened in Tacoma to rave reviews, and my recent IG feeds have gotten pretty excited that it's finally made it to the Greater Seattle area, so I wanted to pay here a visit. I scored free street parking after 6pm near Thomas St where this place is located in South Lake Union, just opposite Cafe Hagen. Interior feels dull and unfinished, and there's not much going on besides the fancy lights above the ceiling and the appropriately lit-up kitchen area where you can see some of the meats hanging behind glass with lights, like what you'd expect from similar places in Chinatown. Throughout this visit, staff reminded me and all other customers that they were out of chicken, duck, and bao buns; they even ran out of everything 7 minutes before their closing time at 7pm and had to turn some guests away! One staff member told me a lunch rush earlier in the day was responsible for the duck being sold out, so that's good to know if you're planning on coming during their soft opening. Staff overall were very attentive with answering questions, refilling water, and asking how I liked the food, and they did so with all other patrons too. I chose the roasted pork rice lunch box as my dish for this visit. This comes with roasted pork, steamed broken rice, pickled mustard greens, jalapenos and a bowl of soup, and was $18 before tax. This looks small but you can get pretty full with everything on here. There's also sauce on the side which I used for my roasted pork, which was crunchy and salty on the skin, and tender and juicy in the middle. Meat cuts are aesthetically pleasing to the eye in presentation, kinda like how other meat parlors in Chinatown organize their boxes when you order their meats. Veggies on the side balanced the saltiness of the meat and the soup. Overall a pretty great place to open up in this area! It is still currently in their soft opening as of this writing, and will have their grand opening on 6/1/26 according to signs on both of their entrances. I actually still prefer the meat places in Chinatown over here mostly because of distance but their meat cuts hit and I'll come back to try their roasted duck when their grand opening comes!

Great place that opened up in Slu which serves viet bbq. The service was a bit slow during lunch but it was their soft opening. The ambiance is nice though and is like a more modern viet restaurant. The portions are nice for lunch so definitely check it out!

1/2 roast duck and banh hoi with BBQ pork (photo was taken after we had already eaten some of the meat and noodles)

TL;DR incredible barbequed meats Went during soft opening and ordered half a roast duck and the banh hoi with char siu BBQ pork as the meat option. The duck was roasted to perfection and paired with a rich and savory sauce. The char siu was SO insanely good, that I ate a sizable amount even though I don't usually like pork. My friend and I both enjoyed our meal and plan to come back to try more of their menu. This is a rare gem in South Lake Union, and if I lived in the neighborhood, I would probably eat here several times a week. Huge kudos to this restaurant for being uncompromising when it comes to both authenticity and flavor! Note: there is no dedicated parking, but street parking was easy to find on a Saturday. Worst case scenario, you could probably park in the Amazon Arizona garage (5 mins walk) which is free on weekday evenings and weekends.

We came around lunch time and there was a steady flow of people there. It was bright, chill, and homey. There's a person that will take the order at the counter, and while he takes the order, the butcher cut the meats and weigh it out and another person does the sides and make sure the tray looks pretty and organized. They were very meticulous. Food wise: Lunch special 2 meat combo with 2 sides: pork belly and pork ribs + slaw and kale. It came with bread and pickled veggies. We also order .25 lbs of brisket and .25 lbs of lamb, a side of chilli and fiesta rice. It also came with bread and pickled veggies. Pork belly was tender, flavorful, wish it tasted more bbq than just marinated pork belly. Ribs was a little inconsistent, some part was a little tough and dry while other part was tender and moist. Brisket was the best protein, it was tender, juicy, flavorful. Lamb was good, little gamey taste, the chimimuri sauce was good but wish they put it on the side because it warmed up on the lamb and it wasn't that great anymore. All the sides were delicious. Their chilli was meat heavy but a little salty. We even got Mac and cheese as a take out just because it looks good and it was good as well. Service is great, price is good for the portion. Definitely would recommend people to come here if you haven't been

We got seated and put in our first meat order. There is a time limit to eat (but as I write this I can't remember if it was 90 minutes or two hours) but that wasn't an issue because we ate a lot and were stuffed at the end. While we waited for the first round of meat, check out the salad bar, which also has japanese curry, miso soup, white rice and a bunch of sides like kimchi! Probably wise not to fill up on the salad bar but it was my first time so i wanted to try a little bit of everything! The curry was pretty good! For the meats, we tried a little bit of everything but my favorites were the finger meat and the karubi so we got multiple orders of those in future rounds. The server came by frequently to take orders from us - it was so quick and efficient! The meat was good quality and the service was great and the space is nice and clean. It was a fun experience and i would definitely go back if i felt like eating a lot of meat and getting my iron and protein levels up! One day, lightning struck a tree, causing a massive forest fire that killed many animals. Our ancestors then discovered that cooked meat tasted much better than raw meat. This is why roast meat has always been regarded as an important part of the human diet. Today I gathered with friends and chose this barbecue restaurant. It's located north of Redmond, with a prominent sign and plenty of parking. Ambiance: The decor is creative, but it feels quite contradictory. Barbecue is inherently a very "Jianghu" (lively, rough-and-tumble) kind of thing, yet the restaurant leans toward an artistic, literary style. When I used to run my own restaurant, I followed a principle: avoid anything unrelated to the core dining experience. Seeing many books on the shelves here, I understand they're trying to bridge Jianghu and artistry -- but it clearly feels out of place. That said, the place is very clean, and the stickers/decorations are festive. Service: My high rating for this restaurant is largely based on the service. After we sat down, we were given free appetizers -- braised peanuts, which tasted great. The staff training is very professional, whether it's taking orders, making recommendations, attending to us during the meal, or checking on tables and refilling water. All excellent. Taste: Jianghu-style cuisine is characterized by boldness, satisfaction, and not sweating the small details. We ordered spicy hot pot (Malatang), spicy hot pot skewers, grilled beef, lamb, chicken gizzards, oysters, and many other items. First, the Malatang and spicy skewers tasted almost identical, so it felt like eating the same thing. The grilled skewers were just average -- neither good nor bad. The oysters were very tasty. However, the shrimp in the spicy skewers were very unfresh, which was disappointing. "By the way, the prices at 'Friendship Skewers' are anything but friendly -- I think it's quite overpriced overall."
