We really enjoyed our first visit to Paris 7th. The menu is sophisticated, the room is beautiful without being stuffy or over the top, and the service is friendly and knowledgeable. It's a very good wine list and Chris, the somm, was incredibly helpful (and we were fortunate to have him as our primary server). Oh, and his barrel-aged Manhattan was amazing. Our group had dishes including the seared foie gras, the French onion soup, two salads... the filet, the duck two ways, and the roast duck... all very well executed to French bistro / restaurant standards. In a world of fusion and fast casual, Paris 7th stands out as the antithesis- the true, unapologetically French fine dining experience. I was there on a sedate Wednesday evening. We were greeted warmly and ushered to a perfectly set table with an invested waiter who happened to also be the sommelier/beverage director. The wine list was well curated and markup very reasonable as compared to other local establishments. To start the meal we were presented with an amuse bouche of gazpacho and a basket of warm, crusty bread. After much back and forth over the menu, the selected pate, escargot, roasted lamb, and dover sole were all absolutely perfect. The pastry with the escargot was perfect. The beets and cornichon accompanying the pate made for many perfect bites. By the time we made our way through, we were too full for desserts. We were there for brunch. I ordered a Belgian waffle and 2 scrambled eggs. The waffle was 4 inches by 4 inches, overcooked and dry. The eggs were just plain eggs - no seasoning or flavor. This place was romantic, classic, quiet and I loved the experience here. The outside it is not fancy but it is a great place to enjoy a fine dining meal. Once you come in, the hostess greats you politely and take you to the table, the atmosphere was pleasant, it wasn't loud, everyone was very respectful and you can tell it is a fine dining restaurant. The waiter approached the table, he suggested the chef special, asked us if we were interested in some wine and at the same time he suggested some wine. The food flavors were the most exquisite, delightful and rich. First time here and really wanted to love it. Had read other reviews and perhaps my expectations were just too high. From the moment we walked in we felt like an inconvenience to them. Inconvenient to have cocktails in the lounge. Inconvenient to be directed to our table. Yes, we had a reservation. Inconvenient when we killed a bug on our table and kept waiting to be reseated and those linens changed. Instead, the waiter used the crumb scraper to remove the bug and walked away. Should have just left then. Here's the positive. The food was worth 4 stars. Ordered pate, escargot and beef tartare for apps and paired with a bottle of rosé. Escargot and tartare were delicious. French onion soup was delicious. Beef bourguignon was delicious. The negative is the service, which surprised us. Not wait time for food, we anticipated that. It was having empty water glasses and empty wine glasses and having to ask twice. It was never being asked how our dinner was or if we needed anything. We spent a little over $500 so I don't believe it was lack of service due to what we ordered or were spending. Not that that is ever ok. We enjoyed the meal but not the experience. I travel a lot, half on vacation and half on business. I'm 62 and at the point in life where good food and fine wine is more enjoyable than NFL football. I've eaten at three Michelin Star restaurants in the past few weeks and they were all wonderful. Paris 7th has no Michelin stars, but I believe it should have. The food is phenomenal, the service excellent, the wines delicious, the prices a bargain and the ambience ... well, it's not the Mansion ... but neither are the prices. My wife and I plan to dine here twice a month when we're home, after spending a little time and the Kimbell and enjoying the Friday night jazz band for an hour. The food was good: the lamb was great, the filet with peppercorn sauce was nice-- especially the sauce and veggies, the scalloped potatoes were fantastic. The only slight disappointment was the onion soup: the onions just weren't caramelized at all and the soup lacked the rich onion flavor I wanted. There were candles (for my birthday) and exquisite burnt cheesecake. The wines were excellent and so was the lemoncello. Was it the best French food I've had? This place is french fine dining, very nice set up and very good ambiance. The staffs are very professional, friendly. The food were outstanding. My husband had Foie Gras, it was outstanding, "the best I ever had" he said and Beef Bourguignon was tendered and delicious. Mine, started with Escagots, was good but for me I think it was a little too bland. Grilled lamb chops was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Great selection of wines. If you enjoy French cuisine, you will LOVE Paris 7th! Their rich and varied menu has whatever you might want. This was our third visit and it lived up to to our highest expectations. Chris was our server and he is personable and extremely knowledgeable. They make minor modifications to the menu every day and those changes are written on a large chalkboard on an easel that is brought to your table. We ordered cocktails and spent an unhurried few minutes deciding on our orders. The bread and butter brought to the table is out of this world! We started with the "Taste" of Royal Ossetra Caviar served on two blinis and Caviar Cream Cheese with some iced Tito's Vodka. So good! For appetizers, Mrs. S had the Steak Tartare and I had Cape Cod Sea Scallops on a bed of mashed potatoes and, I believe the name was, Sauce Americain. Both were absolutely fabulous! For dinner, I had the Boeuf Bourguignon with Gnocchi Parisien on the side. Mrs. S had a special with Texas Redfish. Both dishes were outstanding! I know. . . I'm sounding like a broken record with the praise. But it's true. My taste of her Redfish was wonderful. My beef was tender and the sauce was unbelievably rich. And on the menu, they tout the fact that the Gnocchi is made with Pâte à Choux. With good reason! They literally melt in your mouth! By the way, we had a bottle of Paul Autard Châteauneuf-du-Pape (2015). We both love Rhône Valley, full bodied wines and while this was just a bit lighter, it was perfect. We finished our meal by sharing a serving of the salted caramel custard Crème Brulée. Oh! And they recognized our wedding anniversary - the reason for our night out - with complementary Champagne. Went for dinner yesterday, very pleasant surprise. Very nice table set up. I am originally from Paris France and was pleased to speak French with our waitress and the owner who is also French. I really wanted some escargot and look for a place to go. It was our first time there. Unlike most restaurant, it's not loud at all, very soft ambience. We couldn't hear the table next to us. The escargot were delicious, I love the little puff bread on top of it. We tried the roasted duck, it was way more than expected. We couldn't finish it. It was delicious. I love the honey glaze on top. The sauce with the fries was delicious and a little spicy. Creme brûlée with champagne for dessert. They also have my favorite rose, from Bandol south of France. The staff is very courteous. Our dinner was a 2 hours relaxing experience. We didn't even realized it has been that long. We enjoyed every minute of it. Love the cheese platter as well. We had the most wonderful meal and best service on a rare date night. Everything was fantastic. We ordered the risotto, gnocchi, a salad, beef bourguignon, and a duck entree; all were fabulous!!
